This is a must stop and eat! Tiny place which adds to its charisma and charm. Service was excellent and the breakfast was delicious. Even if you're not hungry, stop in for the hot coffee and a piece of pie! Can't wait to go back!

We stumbled across this little gem looking for a breakfast/lunch spot this morning. The Cooperstown Diner epitomizes hole in the wall. It's very small but worth the short wait for a table. It has one cook & one waiter in there who still operate off of hand written tickets & from what my wife & I could tell doing a great job! My wife had a BLT with tater tots. The toast was not soggy, the bacon was crisp, the lettuce was good & the tomato was nice & ripe which made for a great sandwich. The tater tots were cooked perfectly as well very crispy. On my HUGE 2/3 of a pound burger which was all in one patty it was actually cooked perfectly which truly surprised me because cooking something that size is NOT easy. It was tender & not dry at all. The cheese was good as well. The fries could have been crispier but that's very minor. We highly recommend this place if you are in the Cooperstown area looking for lunch or breakfast!

Biscuits and gravy with eggs

Came here while on vacation to the Cooperstown area. I have numerous food sensitivities so menu selection didn't really mean much to me but hubby really scored! He got biscuits and gravy - and topped it with eggs...which is his fav! It was a huge portion and he made a heck of a dent in the meal! I ordered crispy bacon and a well toasted English muffin. I don't know who toasted this English muffin but they clearly know what they were doing. Most places, even when you say you want it really toasted brown, give you an English muffin that is almost barely warm let alone toasted. This truly was the epitome of a well toasted muffin! The bacon was good however it was thinly sliced in kind of reminded me of the shelf stable bacon that you microwave to heat up. For the price of the side of bacon, I really expected more from it. Maybe because we were in the state of New York, but in Michigan I can get a thicker sliced bacon at a restaurant for the same price.

Coffee was delicious!

Friendly staff. Really cute diner! Food was good. The meat lovers omelette was yummy, the buttered English muffin was delicious, the potatoes were okay. Overall...a must stop in Cooperstown.

Admittedly the food may be wonderful. It may just be OK. We ultimately have no idea as we walked out after about 20 minutes. When we got there, we were told that they wouldn't take our name and we'd just have to wait until seats became available. Fine. When we saw a table that would fit our party of 6 we were angrily told "no! I don't seat that table" (despite the fact that people were getting up and leaving after clearly having eaten there.) Fine. We took seats at the counter when they opened up. Fine. After about 10 minutes of sitting there, the woman server yelled at us (again) that she didn't see us sit down there and we shouldn't have until it had been cleaned. Fine. She then yelled at us that it was harder to clear with people sitting there despite it being a counter with the exact same access from behind whether people were there or not. ok. She slammed mugs and cups around and she cleared and then yelled at us to pick up the menus so she could wipe the counter. The six of us had two menus on the counter. Hmm. Finally, she stomped away and said with a sneer "it will be a while..." By this point, she had made everyone pretty uncomfortable and absolutely wholly unwelcome. One of the kids asked if we could leave, so we did. I get that it's a block from the Hall of Fame so we'd already resigned ourselves to paying $25 for a bacon cheeseburger and $5 for a side of bacon. The 6 of us were hungry. It would have been a robust check and we always tip nicely. I also know that bad reviews will do nothing to stem the flow of customers into this spot. But even with setting the bar so low at "you don't have to be nice but maybe don't make a kid almost cry" they failed. Maybe it was just a bad day but this woman had four interactions with us in under a half hour and got steadily ruder with each one. Good luck if you head there.

While on vacation in the area we tried this place for breakfast. Take out we did. Later on that day as we strolled around I was like hey that's where we got breakfast from and actually got to see the place :) It was a good breakfast. Had it again the next morning as the other place we wanted to try was closed and knew this place was good to have again.

My family chose the diner this past Friday lunchtime on recommendations of acquaintances met on our vacation trip. It certainly is an iconic building due for its size. It is quaint and cozy with approximately 20 seats mixed between tables and the counter. We were immediately greeted by our server, the only server working the lunch crowd on a busy day. Peach, though busy, made time to interact for our order and to make sure it was correct. She kept the refills coming without request. Once the food arrived she made sure we had everything we needed before diving into the biggest hamburger/cheeseburger I have ever ordered or attempted to eat. This thing was huge, at least two inches tall without bun or toppings. I had to knife/fork it on the plate because there was simply no way for me to hold it let alone bite it. The burger was seasoned well, was juicy and tender. The tater tots were hot and crunchy just like I ordered them. Be prepared to wait in line should you arrive during the busy times. There is a constant stream of folks wanting to eat and lines out the door to wait. One person does the greeting, ordering, table bussing, and checkout. To say she is busy is an understatement. I was impressed with how she handled the restaurant guests in these areas. My party found her to be very competent at her job. There are some very negative reviews attached to this location about this location. They seem to be outside the "norm" of even a routine, negative review. Though I question the validity of those reviews do not let them dissuade you from visiting. If you want good food for breakfast and/or lunch in an iconic location put this place on your to go list. You will not be disappointed.

Just good food! (And generous portions!) That's how I would describe it. Only seats 24 so not a place for groups but a fun little place.

The Glimmerglass at the Otesaga Hotel in Resort in Cooperstown is a throwback to the old style…read moreelite hotel dining. Unfortunately, it is no longer appreciated for it's greatness as times have changed. As a Resort Guest, I had the breakfast option which was a great choice to enjoy such elite dining on premises. Convenient and top notch. In the times I visited (July 2021) it was trailing to the end of the COVID nightmare (but before Delta) and the buffet was open and full quality was there. About all a guest could notice was the diligent wearing of masks by staff. The buffet was as good as you can get. Full fruit and Continental options, or hot eggs, meats, potatoes, biscuits, and gravy. And eggs/omelets made to order. The only drawback was that I didn't want to over eat to start the day. needed a second stomach. Upon sitting the wait staff gets any drink you need (coffee/juices) as part of my breakfast included price. I was only brought a check at the end for a gratuity. Some uneven service getting to drinks quickly but it wasn't hard to get their attention if needed. There is a fancy dining room (I dropped a couple of photos) and a nice outdoor patio facing the lake. The outdoor seemed to fill up first albeit the weather was near perfect so can't blame. A point of confusion was logistics and dress code. Upon check in, the desk clerk let me know where it was and strongly advised a reservation and let me know it was fine dining and dress code was appreciated. Not knowing what time I wanted to eat I called late and no answer. I called restaurant services when I woke up and was forwarded to the casual dinner restaurant. I called the desk and had them transfer me, same as just calling, forwarded to casual not answered. No worry, I arrived and they had the guests on a list and it wasn't crowded enough to be an issue. Other thing was dress code. Some things I'd read in the literature was no sports gear, no hats, etc. Since most of the patrons were at the hotel for recreation (kids baseball tournaments, Hall of Fame, etc.) I didn't think wearing a T-shirt and tennis shoes would be an issue. It wasn't. Just don't wear swimwear. At the time I went it was breakfast only. If and when it opens for dinner do not listen to this advice and discuss with the management. Really nothing wrong here, can't withhold even a star. If you stay here, eat here. If the cost is too much, then find a place in your range but you won't beat the quality. This buffet was as good as it gets.

It would be a lie to say I wasn't a little bummed out to see the negative reviews about this Lake…read moreFront Hotel and Restaurant. I've stayed here twice while visiting family. Both times I have had a good experience. The hotel (really it is a motel) is well maintained - clean and functional. We had piping hot water and our room had a mini fridge. The front desk was friendly and we didn't have any issues. The restaurant was great. They accommodated us for breakfast and dinner and were consistently good.

My new slogan for this hotel is "Stay Away, or Stay Awake!"…read more This overnight stay at the Lake Front Hotel was an absolute nightmare. They recently remodeled the exterior, and the adjacent restaurant is pretty good, but each room looks outdated and poorly designed, where they think hanging a colorful photo of the lake is going to make any difference. You'd think they'd have a modern theme, but it was helplessly outdated. There are no cups, no water, and zero personality or hospitality! Some of the hand towels were so old the edges were frayed. The linens were rough, possibly a two thread-count. There's no iron or ironing board in the room! When we asked for an iron, the nice guy in the office said we had to bring our clothes to the office! Wait, what? He allowed us to use this little dark storage backroom to iron our clothes. It was very strange. The point of having an iron in the room is that if you're not sure what you're wearing the next morning, you can iron something else instead at your leisure. With this scenario we had to take four shirts to the office just to have a back up shirt ironed in case one of us wanted another option to wear. The smell in the bedroom was reminiscent of mold, smelly socks, and dirty carpet. Just so unbearable I had to spray cologne in the air just to cover up the smell. The noise from the upstairs was unbearable. I'm writing this review at 1:30am and people are still walking around, and galloping upstairs, and you can hear every footstep and every floorboard creek. At one point earlier tonight, I had to turn around to see if there was someone in the actual room because it sounded like they were right here. When we called to make the reservation, the woman said we could request a second floor when we got here. But why not honor our request when we're requesting it? Why defer us to the time of arrival, where we were told no as if we'd asked for a suite at the Waldorf. We paid $325 for one night, and it will be the last penny they'll ever see from us. I'm giving this establishment two stars because it's a little better than a motel in the middle of nowhere, in the desert, with Jeffrey Dhalmer in the next room. I mean, seriously. What's the point of having a "Lake Front" hotel, if all your guests want to do is jump in the lake and drown in misery!
