A lovely place but really slow service We have wanted to try this place for years since we drive by it a lot. It has a charming spot in between the east and west bound lanes of eau gallie on the mainland side of the causeway. It is in the eau gallie downtown area on the south side of the shoppes in the middle of the road. Parking can be difficult to find. There is street parking and a parking lot to the west of it (more toward US-1). It has outdoor and indoor seating. The indoor is 2 rooms with 1 big table in the center, bar seating and about 7 other tables of 4 seaters or less. The outdoor seating is on both sides of the restaurant. Their menu is both American and Irish with Burgers and cottage pies and many choices for drinks. The menu is found on your phone using the qr code on the table. There was a musician in the outdoor space closer to the entrance. We sat in the outdoor space to the rear. Unfortunately, it was a little chilly and the very nice waitress could not get the heater to work. The outdoor seating on that side was picnic benches with limited lighting at night. We, apparently, picked a night that they had a large party and limited wait staff. The waitress was very nice and kept apologizing for the lateness of the food. We ended up waiting 1 hour and 25 minutes for our meals to come out. The food was delicious and well worth going for that but choose a day when big parties are not there or try to time it so you order before they do. OVerall, the waitress was wonderful, they have great food but it was a REALLY long wait from order to delivery. Choose your visit timing wisely. read more

**INITIAL REVIEW** Even though they are spread out across the entirety of the Space Coast, the true, honest-to-God Irish pubs and restaurants are some of the best I have ever been to, outside of any major cities or true rural areas with strong Irish roots. Most of the more popular Irish pub/restaurant establishments seem to add a semblance of townfare and culture by operating in "historic downtown" areas. For the Eau Galle Art District (EGAD), their Irish pub/restaurant is this one, The Cottage Irish Pub. Even though it is probably the smallest of all the Irish pubs/restaurants in the Space Coast, The Cottage Irish Pub (which I will shorthand simply to The Cottage for the remainder of this review), this one is probably my favorite for its coziness, ambiance, and simplistic yet overly satisfying menu. Though an address is given, The Cottage is located on the northeastern quadrant of the Highland Ave. and East-direction-only part of Eau Gallie Blvd. The Cottage is... well... a very cute and dainty cottage of a restaurant. You can tell that during times when the restaurant is full, they are thankful for all the outdoor seating they have, because the indoor seating is very limited. If you seat inside, you'll be given an ambiance of the locale's namesake: a cottage inn. There is a bar area that looks like it came straight out of an honest-to-God Irish pub complete with Guinness. I am sure something from Murphy or O'hara is in the bar, too. Knick-knacks of a typical Irish lore nature adorn the walls including portraits of what I assume are typical irish figures. But the coolest indoor seating is the "lower room" that has a fireplace in it. It is such a tight squeeze with so many Grandmammy's collectables everywhere, that it just fits the narrative of the ambiance. Outdoor seating is more like a party. Picnic tables and Christmas lights hanging about. Also, the northside seating has the quickest access to the restrooms which are separate from the "cottage" part of The Cottage. They are so close to single-serving that they might as well make both restrooms neutral gender. Where The Cottage stands is their service and their food. Service has always been great. Maybe it is because I go on the low-traffic hours or days, but nevertheless, I get my food quick and my water is always filled as I compliment that with my beer. I have had numerous dishes in The Cottage including Shephard's Pie and Cottage Pie (there is a difference), and numerous burgers. If there is a burger you need to try, definitely their mushroom, swiss, and bleu cheese burger. Delicious! Overall, all of my visits to The Cottage have been spectacular AND they are consistent. The only gripe that is possible is the limited seating, ergo, tf the place is full, expect a long wait if there are others ahead of you. That little criticism, as well as very minor criticisms that are probably more personal and do not delegate away from how good The Cottage Inn is are not enough to take away this perfect rated review. We were there when a large table of people were behind us, as we were sitting at the bar. They were very loud in a small room. It made it unpleasant for us. Has quickly become one of our favorite haunts in Melbourne. Small pub with a VERY cozy interior and lovely, relaxing lighting. Service has been slow or off every visit, but it's not a huge deal since this is a spot where it's nice to languish and not feel rushed. Great burgers and the big pretzel is a must. Cottage pie is nearly perfect and not a HUGE, uneatable portion. Chicken sandwich is a miss, drinks are good but sometimes a little light on the alcohol. Unfortunately I've gotta take a star off for the outside bathrooms. Overall, though, a really awesome spot with reasonable prices and good drink specials. read more

Came here for St Patricks day. Won't be back. Yes, the beers were cold, and had a few to select from (not a Guiness fan). The music was good, the setting (for the weekend was nice) in the front and back of the cottage. Food - OMG NO. $18 for 4oz fish and chips (enough fries to feed a family) and again a 4oz piece of cod - ridiculous! And no slaw came with. Hubby got the cottage pie (over salted) and WAY too much potatoes (for $21) - oh and a premade roll. The ladies serving the beer were friendly enough. Again - won't be back for the food! read more

Asked the manager what happened and she argued as if we should understand this was normal. We watched the party that was seated at the same time as us order, eat and leave and 4 parties after us be seated on the patio, eat and leave. We were simply forgotten and the manager had to be told she really should just apologize over making excuses. We were made to feel as if we were being unrational to be upset. The Cottage Irish Pub is a super cute spot to grab some yummy food and a drink! We came on a Friday night so it was a bit crowded, but not too bad. We were going to sit outside, but table service is just for inside so we moved in there. They had live music so that was fun to listen to while we were there. Deanna was our server and she was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. I chose to order the rueben slider appetizer as my meal and my boyfriend ordered the cottage pie. The sliders were pretty big and stuffed full of corned beef, Swiss, and sauerkraut. It was easily plenty for me for a meal; I even ended up with leftovers. They were really tasty and I love the pretzel rolls. I tasted the cottage pie also and it was very good and had a perfect blend of seasoning. We washed our meals down with a Guinness blonde. We love coming here on Sundays and bring our dog. Sit on the back porch, get a drafts and and Irish whiskey drinks and great food. LJ loves cottage pie and I love the habanero bacon jam burger. I would love the roast beef sandwich but they are sold out every Sunday I have requested it. The drinks are top and bartender is the top. What a great laid back way to enjoy Sunday. What a charming little spot at the end of EGAD! This was the first, but definitely not the last time I will be paying them a visit. We went on a cold evening, so we opted to sit inside. Upon entering this cozy little restaurant we were greeted with the wonderful aroma of fried foods and beer. It was self seating but busy so we found a little nook down a few small stair next to a hearth that felt like a home that would belong to your very Irish grandmother. Rustic and inviting, we ordered some Guinness and the best soft pretzel with beer cheese I've ever had. The pretzel was a melt in your mouth bread with the perfect amount of coarse salt, which was paired with creamy flavorful beer cheese . I ordered the classic fish and chips, and by looking at the pictures it might not seem like much, but it was also the best I've ever had. The batter was golden and crisp, while the fish inside was flaky and tender. Paired with tangy tartar sauce, and crisp chips. My husband ordered a cheeseburger with egg (we both favor that combination!) and chips. The bun was perfectly toasted and buttery, while the patty of the meat was juicy and the cheese was gooey. Cooked perfect. Our waitress, Hannah, made sure we had everything we needed. My wife's bangers and mash were too salty, as was my daughter's "shepherds pie", they had a different name for the dish. COVID-era review 1st time here and we will be back again. - Staff had masks, a table at the entrance had sanitizer for customer use, and they posted a sign that basically said if you cough you will be asked to leave. - Wait staff very friendly and knowledgeable. We had pigs in a pretzel ($11), which was 3 pretzel rolls cut open with a brat or sausage of some kind, served with beer cheese sauce. They were very enjoyable - even my daughter liked them even though the sausage had a nice spicy kick to them. - At the waiter's recommendation, we had the fish and chips ($13). It was one large, flaky fillet with fries and nice tasting slaw. My wife took half of hers home for later, while I stuffed myself eating all of mine. My daughter enjoyed her kids meal grilled cheese and fries. - The decor was entertaining. Lots of Guinness bottles and memoribilia. In the snug (ladies section), they had a small sheet explaining the sadly sexist history of the snug, Over the snug's mantle were, left to right, JFK, Jesus, and the Pope. Not sure if this was meant as an Irish Trinity joke or if a serious homage to the three. (My apologies if that came our sacreligious or demeaning) - They had draught Guinness on Nitrogen (only way to serve!!!) instead of CO2. They also had seasonal cocktails. I had a pumpkin whiskey (whisky?) smash for ~$8. It was enjoyable enough; I think it was an Irish whiskley / pumpkin take on a Goombay Smash from Burmuda. Went here after a Paramedic Graduation ceremony. There were 8 of us so they placed us is a small cozy room off the main bar and dining room. I have been to Ireland and it reminded me of some of the small Irish Pubs my wife and I went to in SW Ireland. I was torn in what I wanted. Bangors & Mash? Shepherd's Pie? Fish n Chips? I finally decided on Fish n Chips since it was my first time there. Two large fish filets came out on a generous bed of fries. Our group had ordered huge soft pretzels & cheese as an appetizer: yummy! The Fish n Chips filled me so no room for desert. Others in the group ordered the Cottage Pie, (Shepherd's Pie), a Reuben Sandwich, and various other menu items. Everyone said their food was excellent tasting, filling, and "yummy". None of us had room for desert. Service was excellent and attentive. The Guinness was as expected though not the same as domestic in Ireland. Pricing was reasonable for portion sizes. All-in-All, I was pleased with the experience all around. I will return and I will not be afraid to bring guests. read more

My first time at this spot and it has a great ambiance and very quaint. I can't comment on the food quality but I will say that whomever the bartender was on Thursday afternoon was incredibly rude to myself and the group I was with. On top of that, she was pouring some of our wine glasses barely 6oz. Unsure if she was having a bad night but find a different job if you hate working in the service industry. Stopped by The Cottage today. I took a stool at the bar where I was warmly greeted by a lovely young Irish lady named Shauna. I ordered a black and Tan which was expertly crafted and delivered promptly. After taking a look at the menu I ordered the fish and chips. They arrived in a very reasonable amount of time and everything looked and tasted delicious. I ordered another pint, this time a full Harp to wash it all down. I noticed that the have a daily offering of dessert. So I asked and today it was irish mud pie. It too was delivered promptly and tasted devine. I will definately be back with some friends very soon. BEST Irish Pub in Melbourne, hands down. And I know there are a few other Irish pubs around that have been here longer and have bigger menus.. but The Cottage still blows them out of the water for me. First of all: THE ATMOSPHERE Outside: you got twinkly lights, you got dog friendly patios, you got front & back seating, picnic tables perfect for large parties & two seat tables for a date! There's live music on certain nights out front but if that's not your cup of tea, you can sit out back! I like options and this place has 'em! Inside: the walls have framed pictures of real pubs and cottages in Ireland, JFK, and Catholic Jesus. So you can imagine, it really sets the ~authentic~ pub mood. The lighting is nice, there's bar seating, some high tables, & a little side room for a more intimate party! This is in no particular order, btw! I just wanted to set the stage for what you'll see when you arrive... Secondly: THE FOOD Almost every time I've been here, I've come with a group of people. And every. single. time. the whole group has been thrilled with their meals. And let me tell you (unfortunately) I have some some friends who are picky eaters! And even they have had zero complaints! As I mentioned above, the menu is not extensive but the food they have is quality and done so good. And I wish I could say that I've even tried everything on the menu but I just love the fish & chips so much it's what I end up getting almost every time. Paired with a cold magners hard apple cider! This is perhaps the 10th Irish pub we've reviewed, but we've dined at many more. Our hope is to visit as many Irish pubs as possible before the good Lord calls. We truly wanted to like this one, but... well, read on. With a brogue. As usual, the spicy chicken was great; Oh wait. That was Chic fil A, where we went after our experience. Here's what really happened. There were quite a few occupied tables on the south side of the entrance, and there was an Irish feel to the place. We worked our way to the front door of the establishment, and upon entry, an employee was coming out of the door and said "It's first come, first served" as he passed. I'd not a feckin' idea what that meant, but the wife shrugged and we went on in. There is no hostess, so we were about to grab a table but noticed seating available through a door on the north side, so we grabbed a table there. After ten minutes, the wife observes a sheet of paper stapled to a post saying "See the bartender and start a tab, give your order to her". I guess if you're a local, you'd know this, but OK, we accordingly order two pints of Guinness'. This is where it turned further south. The barmaid was busy filling orders for staff, but did take our pint order within 5 minutes. I'll point out there were only two people other than us at the bar. Off to a decent start. A proper first pour. But it was far too long for the second, easily over 4 minutes. Being properly Guinness-schooled in the pour, I should have asked her to do it again, but our pints remained behind the bar until the cascade was gone! When it was finally served, I was so disappointed we just sat, drank it down swiftly, and left. Oh, there was zero eye contact or friendliness that you'd expect BY DEFINITION from an Irish pub tender. To be fair, as the owners might read this, there was a young lady with red hair that was all smiles, and tho not our waitress, did ask about us. But the experience ruined our evening. I came here in the evening while the sun was setting. They have outdoor seating unlimited indoor seating. Outdoor seating was definitely the place to be. The outdoor patio area was dimly lit strings of Christmas lights. They had a guy outside playing live music. You have to give him credit, he played continuously the entire time I was there. Never stopped to take a break or what I could see even a drink of water. He was also very versatile play different genres of music a different instruments. Service was a little slow but the place was also very busy. From what I gather this restaurant is run completely by the owners and their family. I was told the man playing live music was also the owner. They're all very friendly. The food was really good! I order shepherd's pie and however they cook the meat was really good a spice was just on point. Between the food and music I can't find one reason why you shouldn't come here right away. read more
