I want to say right up front that it could have just been a bad night for this place. But we picked it because of Yelp reviews, so I'd be remiss not to share our experience. Surprised to find a very corporate feel and little ambiance. The golf course view was nice. Waitress super unprofessional. Sat down with a solo patron at another table, then started talking to us from that table asking questions about our order. She was wearing gym clothes. She had to ask three times about whether or not I wanted another drink, once she yelled from across the restaurant. It took a really, really long time to get our food. The restaurant wasn't even half full when we arrived, emptied out as we sat. While waiting hungrily for our food, those of seated on the east side of the table (facing the bar) had to watch the bartender eat her dinner. Our food came out separate, leaving one person waiting without food (a salad!) for more than five minutes. Then they brought food we didn't even know was missing. The food wasn't bad, but I expect more for the price. My friend was disappointed to figure out that the "meal" version of the ahi tuna is an extra $9, and the only difference is a serving of rice. Her tuna was also overdone. After ordering a salad, my other friend was hungry half an hour later. The same person who worried about being able to eat a full scoop of ice cream earlier that day. The portions were... not American? I wouldn't go back to this place, nor would I recommend it. I wish I'd heeded the most recent review I saw that mentioned something about the place recently changing ownership and the service being really terrible. read more

Nice option at the golf course on the Long Beach Peninsula. Diners dressed in golf or other clean attire reserve tables inside and out of this lovely setting. Some of the best halibut and chips I've ever had! We were staying down the road and tried calling ahead to see if they did to go orders but the two phone numbers we found online were both out of service. Very odd. So we drove there and put in our order and waited which was fine, they were very fast! Will definitely visit this restaurant again next time we're in town! read more

One of the only places open on the Peninsula right now (b/c of Covid), which is unfortunate because it sucks! Don't waste your time or money. I'd honestly just go to a store and buy your food/drinks and take it home instead of going here. Service is NEVER good. All the servers act irritated if you ask them a question. I'm going to start with they gave us a free dessert so of course they get 5 stars. We walked in about 20 minutes before closing so we were worried about them seating us but it wasn't an issue. They had singers for Cinco de Mayo and a special menu to go along. Ordered the Mayan Pork Cochinita from the specials and the Ahi Tuna Plate from the regular menu, both were very good and our server was great. Pros: Good, quick service; nice atmosphere; friendly people. Cons: I got the udon with prawns and it was not very good. I should have chosen bar food (like the coconut prawns), so some of this is my fault, but I wasn't very impressed. There was a ton of sauce/broth, the veggies were just on the edge of too soft, and the dish was served in a bowl that isn't really conducive to eating stir fry- it's more suited for an udon soup. After having a disappointing clam chowder at another restaurant we were desperate to find another to try. This place was much better. The flavor was good. The food seemed fresh and the potatoes weren't totally dissolved like the other place. The sauce that comes with the coconut shrimp was amazing! I think it's made in house. Always good food and the service is fast and friendly if you want it or slow and relaxing if that's what you want.

First thing I noticed is the noise in there is very loud. We were beyond hungry when we got seated. Then the people who came in after us got to eat first. We were starting to feel forgotten in our corner, we even talked about moving on to somewhere quicker. Finally our waitress came for our orders. She was very sweet, friendly, and efficient. I ordered the gobbler which I felt was a great choice with all the cranberry farms right there I knew it would be fresh. I was not prepared for how absolutely amazing that sandwich was. Thick perfectly cooked turkey slices and their house cranberry sauce was the most amazing one I have ever eaten, melt in your mouth amazing. When our waitress came back she asked how it was and I let her know it was amazing! She informed me I got the last of the cranberry sauce. I'm thinking I may have to make the 4 hr trip just for this sandwich again, I'll make sure to call ahead so they save me some. Went in for lunch over Rod Run weekend, and had a lovely time, here are the highlights: 1) super friendly, fast and thoughtful service--feels like you are being treated like family. 2) attention paid to the menu (so not including 500 items), carefully selected options 3) food was DELICIOUS. We ate here for the first time last night and it was delicious! All of the food was great. We had coconut prawns, battered prawns, chowder and a salmon dish that was a weekend special. Waitress said I can do that and she brought me two tiny pieces of fish undercooked with doughy wet batter in middle but charged me for the more expensive halibut and the piece of halibut was ridiculously small. Wanna get sick? This is the place for you. Had dinner this past Monday night. It was "BBQ night". My wife and I split the combo meal. The chicken, brisket, sausages, and ribs arrived drowning in BBQ sauce. And I mean DROWNING. If you have experience with BBQ, you know if the meat is floating in the sauce this means that the meat sucks. Well, that's the case here with the brisket. The brisket was literally rancid. Rancid as in spoiled. And it was not just my palate. My wife agreed. It was disgusting. We sent it back with the waitress and asked that the chef taste what he had in the kitchen. The waitress came back with an attitude and said that the chef disagreed! She then asked if we wanted more. Really?!?! Hell no. The pork ribs were awful. Fatty. And the chef didn't bother to remove the silver skin. Come on. You don't deserve the rating you have. read more

We ordered (to go) the clam strips, iron steak and prawns, prawn scampi, udon bowl, and the mud pie. Clam strips are ok, cooked right. Prawn scampi is good, pasta is al dente, steak and prawns are on point. However, the udon bowl needs some serious work - it was drowned in a sweet sauce, so much that we had to take it to the pan, add water to dilute it (to wash away the excess sugar/sweetness) before we could even eat it. The noodles were actually about as sweet as our mud pie. However, service was great, the guy that took our order was very nice and approachable, he even took the food to us (waiting in our car). read more

Spent 5 days in the Long Beach area over the Thanksgiving holiday and ate here for lunch-twice!!! Great food!! Service was a bit slow as both days the restaurant was completely full. One of the best burgers we have ever had!! Next visit was the chicken club, not quite as good as the burger, but still quite good. Sweet potato and regular fries were both outstanding. Fresh and crispy! Highly recommend the Cove for lunch!!! read more

We lucked out and discovered this restaurant had a Prime Rib Thursday. It's right off Pacific Way on a golf course and the staff was super friendly. Perfect place to bring your dog when visiting the area. Heated covered patio with a wind/sun shade. Went for brunch on a Sunday and got the breakfast burrito and eggs Benedict. I made reservations the day before for a party of 3 w/ a pup for 430pm on a Saturday requesting seating outside. We arrived at 420pm and checked in sharing that we had made a reservation and needed to be seated outside (due to the puppy). The hostess said we would have to wait as there were several larger parties and she would seat us shortly. I shared that I would wait outside by the sign "reserved seating please see hostess". At that time, there were no patrons seated at any of the four tables outside. At 435pm I went back in to inquire about us being seated. The hostess said "oh sorry" everyone was gone, and she then had a young man seat us at the table outside. We were brought menus and waters. At 4:50pm no one had come to our table to ask us if we wanted drinks or to take our order. Just following 4:50pm a large party of 8-10 individuals was seated at a table nearby us on the outside patio. Immediately, a waitress walked right past us and went to the larger table to take their drink order. As she walked back, I asked her "are we going to be waited on?" She replied, "yes, your waitress will be with you shortly". We waited until 5:05pm and then decided to go get food elsewhere. I followed up with a phone call to the restaurant to provide feedback and to share that we were very disappointed with the lack of professionalism. I spoke with some young lady who told me she would share this with the "manager" and that he would call me back. I provided my name and phone number, but no one ever called me back. We had planned a nice evening out after a long day at the beach. We ended up having to choose a different restaurant and weren't able to get in to a different restaurant for 45 minutes after arriving there. Thanks for ruining my plans for a great dinner. So rude and very unprofessional. I will NOT recommend your facility nor return back. You lost a customer who would have returned had you won me over. Also, saying you will call me back and not doing so adds to the unprofessionalism by your facility. :( Can't review the food, but our experience was not good. read more
