We were in town for the WVU game in Morgantown. We had never stayed in Cumberland, MD but wanted a nice meal that wasn't fast food. Our son found Oscar's on Google and it was great! The place isn't fancy but it was clean and had a small town atmosphere. Families were there with their children and grandparents. The waitresses knew many of the customers by name. The menu has a variety of choices from hot/cold sandwiches to pasta, steaks, seafood, chicken, salad and soups. Everything we had was delicious. The buffalo dip appetizer was not too spicy and had a tangy flavor from the blue cheese in it. My Reuben was HUGE. I could only eat half of it. The crinkle fries were tasty and the homemade ranch dressing was perfect for dipping. My son got the chili and he and my husband couldn't stop talking about it. It was just the right amount to spice but a little sweet as well. My other son had the crabby chicken melt and it was smothered in crab dip and cheese. We usually avoid seafood when we aren't close to the water but we made an exception since it was MD and we weren't disappointed. I don't recall our server's name but she was super sweet, friendly and gave us updates periodically on our order. She was also quick to get our drinks refilled. Oscars food is delicious!! I had turkey and my date had steak. Beautiful salads and perfectly cooked food. Our server, Amber was so efficient and kind. We ate in after a few hours at Rocky Gap. Food was very good. I had the crab cake sandwich and the other two in my party had lasagna. We had an appetizer of mozz sticks as well. In town for work and Oscar's was recommended for dinner. The friendly and attentive service we received was great! That is hard to find in some other areas of the US these days so it was a welcome surprise. The food was awesome too! It came out hot, very fresh and was delicious! My personal recommendation, instead of fries (and they may be awesome too), get the coleslaw as your side! It was so good that I could've had a plate of just that and been happy with dinner! DEFINITELY WORTH THE TRIP. I'm a local - I have been going to this restaurant since it opened. The atmosphere is very "comfortable and homey" .. Decent drink specials. Over the years, prices have risen (as expected) but still a moderate expense. The wait staff always has been helpful, attentive, and courteous. One of our favorite restaurants. If you like D' Atris, you will LOVE this place. Same family but they still make the food the way D'Atris used to. Large steak and cheese sub is to die for and it's massive. Need to eat it with fork and knife. My wife loves the steak n cheese flatbread. I also will get the steak n cheese salad if I want to cut back on carbs. Large and delicious. The most recent visit we splurged and got the hot chip appetizer. Probably the best appetizer I've ever had. Homemade potato chips with old bay seasoning. Absolutely a must and will be ordering them from now on. Came here for a work lunch. I've been in the area for over three months and have probably driven past Oscar's dozens of times without noticing it. The outside of the building is VERY non-distinct, but the inside is really cool, almost reminds me of Cheers. Service was great and food was excellent. I had a Cajun Chicken wrap and was very satisfied with the portions and the sandwhich itself. This place has THE BEST French Onion soup in town!!! Absolutely amazing amount of cheese on top and oozing down the sides of the bowl! Great flavor from the onions, & topped with bread (not croutons). Great appetizers too , just a little pricey on apps. My family recently had a party for my grandfather here. The staff was wonderful! They were sure to keep checking on us and keeping our drinks and food filled and even helped pack everything up once we were finished. The food was delicious! We has a wonderful house salad with a variety of dressings. A variety of subs to chose from with toppings on the side. We also had noodles and sauce, meatballs, and chicken poppers for the little ones. Everything was wonderful and we had plenty to go home. It was a wonderful time and a great surprise for my grandfather. I would recommend this as a great place for a small family gathering or to friends for dinner! read more

To update my always good experiences with Oscars, tonight I ordered a crab cake sandwich. While I have enjoyed them in the past, the latest improvements are striking. First it was generous in size, with lots of crab - for my taste much more. It does not seem to be all jumbo lump crab, but it is nice tender carb. Really taste fresh. Second the blending mix is less rich than I recall and it really brings out the taste in the crab. It was gently fried and was as perfect a crab cake as I have had in Mountain Maryland. Second point - the soups and chowders here have really stepped up their game. Selection has improved and the New England Clam chowder is a rich, thick, clammy elegant delight. Perfect! I order a gallon every year for our Christmas Eve open house. It's always popular, but no one believes I made it. They just pretend to so I'll let them keep eating it. read more

I keep trying to like it here and I hate being this negative to a local, family owned restaurant, but I'm never impressed. During my most recent visit, I had a Caesar salad and the crabby chicken. The lettuce in the salad seemed to have been stored in a fridge that was too cold. It wasn't quite frozen but something wasn't right. You couldn't taste a "Caesar" dressing...all I could taste was Parmesan. I love cheese, but this was way too much. It seemed they had dressed the salad and then stored it in the fridge too long. When our meals finally arrived they were barely warm! The chicken itself was good but the crab dip on top was thick and unappealing. Don't even bother getting the mixed vegetables. This was basically the only healthy side dish on the menu, so I assumed they'd be fresh. They're straight out of a frozen package. The rest of my table got a steak sub and wings. They were okay, but again, barely warm. The portion size for everything was good, but this restaurant is overpriced for the quality of food. Ordered the cheese steak sub which was very large (took up the whole plate) and delicious. I read in the reviews that they had seasoned lettuce which was actually on my cheese steak. I came with a big group of people. Most enjoyed the food but the portion sizes are too big. They must go through tons of styrofoam to-go boxes. I'd rather them cut back on the portions and lower the prices a little. The waitress was clueless and overly familiar. Paying the checks was a nightmare. I attend here for their lunch specials weekly. A large 1/2 sandwich & soup is only $5. They usually have a couple different options to choose from. Service has always ranged from good to excellent. I will come to Oscar's every once in awhile. Most times I will get take out. The bar service is slow so you might want to order two drinks at one time. There usually is a good craft beer selection with a variety. The hot wings are good. I would avoid the steaks as they are not very good and fatty. Some of the specialty subs are very good as well as long as they do not over salt the seasoned lettuce. The atmosphere is a nice pub-style set-up, sort of a throw back. read more

Went there for my mom's birthday. We were there about 5pm on a Friday, the restaurant was empty but there service was bad. Very slow. Our family had a steak hoagie salad, a cheeseburger sub, and crab stuffed chicken. My dad said the sub wad good and he's hard to please. The crab in the chicken was not fresh and was obviously a pre-made, frozen crab cake. It was ok. My mom liked it. The steak hoagie was good, the seasoned lettuce was good. I got a side of blue cheese with it and that dressing was really good. I got cheese on my salad which was a mistake. It hardened abd acted more like a tasteless glue than cheese. But the lettuce was just as good as D'Atri's. Nice atmosphere. I'd like to go back and try more. read more
