This may be more of an observation of Yelp than the Cracked Egg. Searching for a breakfast restaurant in the Glendale area this restaurant came up first with a solid 4 star rating. Aproaching the establishment from the spacious unfilled parking lot and trying not to judge from looks I had the distinct feeling that I was not going to have a 4 star experience. The wait staff was very helpful and attentive but the omelette that I ordered looked precooked and reheated and was lacking flavor. The substance that accompanied the pancakes had the appearance of butter but that was all and the syrup must have been HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP with maple coloring. The pancakes required a fork and knife to cut through them. The best that can be said is that they were tasteless. My son, enjoyed his bacon and home fries, but stopped after one bite of his 3 stack which he typically devours. I cannot trust the YELP reviews. The food was so good. I had 2 eggs, hash browns, corned beef hash and a huge fluffy biscuit. My husband had the French toast. The serving size is huge and the prices are great. We walked in and immediately saw sparks coming out of the kitchen. The noise was so loud I could barely hear the hostess as she explained they were doing metal work/ construction in the kitchen. So all that metal work and construction is being done less than two feet from where food is being cooked. We left without eating. Construction of any kind should not be done during business hours, much less so close to food being ingested by customers. read more

Went here for the first time based on the reviews and have to say I was somewhat let down...Don't get me wrong service was great, the ladies we're attentive, and the prices and portions were even better....BUT the food I think was only so so...had a skillet and it said was homemade chorizo...not saying that its not but it taste like chorizo I've had from a local supermarket..very olive oil and vinegary tasting...Maybe I'll give it another try to be fair, but no rush. read more

If you want a small town feel, then you came to the right place. Everyone here is extremely nice and makes you feel like you're a regular. This was my first time being here. This is my second time at the cracked egg and it was even better than the last! We got the waffle and the French toast with home fries and scrambled eggs. Everything was cooked and seasoned well. The buscuits are practically the size of your head!! Food is nothing to necessarily write home about, but good diner quailty for cheap. Good place to go with a hangover, they're portions are filling. Service was also great. The home fries could have been a little more crisp and hot, and real butter for the food would have been great, but those are my only minor complaints. After seeing the reviews from other people I had to double check if it was the same place I was at. This place is horrible. Let's start with the drinks, I ordered water with lemon the lemon was slimey and mushy. My friends Sprite had something floating in it. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, sausage and the potatoes. Cheese wasn't melted , eggs were a little slimey and the potatoes weren't cooked all they. My friend ordered a ham and cheddar cheese omlet. It had American sliced cheese on the top and her potatoes weren't cooked either. She didn't eat it at all. I went over the bill the orange juice was 5.00 dollars a glass... Each kid got one glass plus refills. 3 refills for one kid and 2 refills for the other kid. I also didn't know that each refill was 5 dollars. I think when the waitress came by she should have said "do you want more Orange juice-there is a 5 dollar refill charge." We ordered classic breakfasts but I was curious about their chorizo so I asked to taste a little...the waitress explained to the cooks & they sent out a small "chorizo patty" and we were pleasantly surprised. Not fatty or too spicy...good flavor. Hash browns are freshly cut. Next time will order the Mexican Benedict. Heard the owner say she's trying to offer different menu selections. I came here for the 1st time a couple months ago. I got the California benedict which I could barely stomach. It had spinach on it that was wilted and slimy. The hollandaise sauce also tasted weird. My husband liked his meal so I decided to give it another shot. We went back again last weekend and this time I ordered an omelette with cheddar cheese, green onions, mushrooms, and avocados. There was WAY too much cheese on it which made the omelette very oily. They also forgot the avocado and the eggs were an off color and didn't taste good. Tried The Cracked Egg this week with my manchild. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the new place in that old space was pretty good. We are happy to see another decent place for our late breakfasts back in the neighborhood.
