We discovered Crazy Mason two years ago when it was a counter service concept in a bowling alley. It was a gem and we decided it should be an annual tradition for us. Then they moved. The new stand alone is disappointing from start to finish. The restaurant is now table service. But I use that term very lightly. I used to wait tables and I don't mind tipping servers. But there are things that a customer should be able to expect from a table service establishment. One is water. We were told that we had to purchase bottles of water because they didn't have a filtered tap. If I am expected to tip, you should be expected to refill my drink. Our server took our order (it didn't help that she wasn't friendly or personable), then came back with cheap plastic spoons and the worst paper napkins I have ever used. Again, if I am paying a premium for service, I expect better quality. Give me a real spoon and order better napkins for my $20 milkshake. At the end of the experience she asked if we wanted boxes (for milkshakes?!) and told us that we could wash our own glass in the sink, but not the left one because that was broken. So even with very few customers present, I waited in line to wash my cup. The sink smelled horrible like the pipes are backed up. When I got to the sink, the water could not run hot enough to clean frosting and peanut butter off the cups. I'd also note that this is extremely dangerous for anyone with peanut allergies because there is no cross-contamination control. Oh. And they forgot the lollipop on my daughter's shake. I didn't even realize that until I was writing this. The "server" (really a food runner) came back to run our card and the screen asked if we wanted to tip 25%. I would be happy to if there was any attempt at customer service here. Oh, and they charged us 2% extra for using a credit card. More fees for standard operating costs. The customer is definitely not valued in this establishment. This is definitely not the gem it once was. The milkshakes are delicious, and that is the only reason this is a 2 star instead of a 1 star. read more

Undeniably fun novelty treat - we have been repeat customers with our kids every year on vacation. But this newer location is so poorly executed / managed I can't imagine returning again. When paying almost $20 bucks a head for a *milkshake* I would not expect to be 1) charged for WATER, 2) required to wait through full table service, or 3) then also be charged additional fees for using my credit card. If you're going to force people to wait and pay for table service for a milkshake then it should include something more than slapping down some disposable cutlery with the added privilege of washing your own cup. read more

Wanted to take the kids out for a treat and found this place on Yelp. The place was packed when we got there, so we took pics and people watched. Everyone was having such a great time. The place is decorated cute, definitely a very popular place. The kids didn't take long to pick what they wanted. I don't eat ice cream so it was easy to be good. I did enjoy watching the kids devour their shakes. This place would easily be a five-star experience, but it's a solid four. When you get the mason jars milkshakes, you get to keep the mason jars as a souvenir. The problem with that is you have to go wash your own mason jar at the sinks that are next to two tables. It gets very congested over there with a long line, unfortunately, there are two tables right next to it. I would not have been happy if I was sitting there. They could turn over tables quickly If they just had somebody bus the tables and give the customers a new mason jar. It would stop the crowds by the sink and open up the tables for new customers. Server location = worst experience Non server location = great experience This location was the lowest out of 5 I have been to. This location has you sit and then a server takes it from there. I'm not sure why a shake place would want to have servers as opposed to all their other locations I've been to. We had a party of 12 and it took awhile to be seated. Because this one has servers and supposedly we all have to sit at one table. We told them they didn't need to. But with gum smacking and easily seen the person who later was our server put our name in. Once seated the server made sure we had ample time to look at the menu before ordering, because apparently she didn't think while waiting and holding menus we would have done that already. While talking our order, with her mouth not far behind my ear, not only did she make sure to project loud but also continue smacking her mint gum. Later my friend with me said the server had her thigh against his shoulder while taking orders. It took almost 45-60 minutes for the shakes to come out. While the server placed the shakes on the table she leaned between my wife and me, with her chest turned toward my face only inches away to place the shake down for my friend in my other side. When we were done, it was like being held hostage to get our checks so we could pay. The device you are shown your bill on is very tiny writing and difficult to see without readers. We have always enjoyed Crazy Mason, but I won't be back for server service. 1.5 hours for shakes, is a bit crazy. read more

What's not to love about this place? We went back multiple days for coffee and treats, primarily because of the staff. We had so much fun and the food/drinks are so good! Highly recommend. Out of the two locations in Myrtle Beach, we definitely prefer this one over the North Myrtle Beach location. The line feels more organized, the 881 Billiards feel larger (so we didn't feel so squished in), and the outdoor eating area at Crazy Mason makes us feel a lot safer during COVID. We always leave feeling ridiculously sugar'ed out - and that's part of the point. NOTE: The Crazy Mason is located inside of 888 Billiards. While this location offers its own sliding door (as opposed to the North Myrtle Beach location that offers a single door), the line for the Crazy Mason still starts over in 881 Billiards. PROS: -It's SO MUCH ICE CREAM AND SUGAR. There's no way you leave wanting more sugar. Out of 20+ different orders, we've never once been able to finish one. Yeah, they're pricier, but it's ridiculous how much sugar'ed deliciousness is involved. I just wish there was an easy way to make leftovers out of this. -You get a text when your order is complete. This appears to be a new addition since I was last here. The text was a bit delayed (we noticed our orders sitting out first), but that works. It makes it so you can wait wherever. -They have the gigantic, huge straws for drinking your milkshake. No "stuffed up" straw here! -You get to keep your cup/mason jar. There's a sink to wash out your jar, so you aren't taking this gigantic, sticky mess into your car. -Some of the treats here are SO good! Others are pretty "eh". (I love, love, love the ice cream coffee of "But First, Coffee", but the donut topping and Oreo felt super unnecessary and didn't really jive, flavor-wise). With so many different treats on the menu, it's no surprise that every treat won't be a homerun for every person. -My tip: if you aren't ridiculously hungry and aren't looking for "multiple-cakes-slices" worth of sugar, get one of their treats in a cup. It cuts the topping severity and makes it easier to mix the ice cream with the toppings to get a well-rounded treat. CONS: -Every time we've come to Crazy Mason, we're surprised at how...sad everyone seems. The employees seem a bit frantic, and at the pace that people come here, I imagine the work is pretty non-stop. We always leave with delicious ice cream, but the vibe always seems frantically busy and loud. -Expect a wait. Expect a loooong wait if you come 6PM or later; the line has taken 45 minutes or longer. A lot of time and effort goes into making each one of these creations. I always wish they had order-ahead ordering, but that would likely be the straw that simply broke the shop. There's no way they'd have the ability to keep up with that. -There's, literally, no way to take these "to go". As the ice cream melts, all of your toppings will be on every surface of your car. My boyfriend told me about this place because he'd been when he used to live here. Right as you park, it's a fun place. There are games to play outside while you wait and there's a grass wall with balloons welcoming you in the foyer. We were seated after about 15 minutes and given a regular menu plus the specials menu. As it got closer to our order being done, they brought plates, silverware, and straws. The milkshakes came out and lord they were amazing! There was so much on top of both but the milkshakes were so good too. The donut on top of mine was warm and gooey. It just melted in my mouth. It has nilla cookies and banana pudding at bottom. Build me up butter cup is a vanilla ice cream and the rim of mason is peanut butter with Reese's pieces. It has two Reese's on top of the whip cream and the mason inside has peanut butter and chocolate swirled around. If you like Reese's this is what you want. Mango peach is Italian ice so when you try to scoop it or drink some it very frozen. It has mango boba on top with peach rings and it has sanding sugar on rim of mason. It was okay stick to the ice cream. No Oreo-dinary cheesecake was delicious a piece of cheesecake topped with Oreo and crushed Oreos with chocolate sauce. It comes with cookies and cream ice cream and it super good. The fudgin best is so much chocolate. It has a warm brownie with chocolate whip and Hershey's shavings. The mason rim is chocolate chips with chocolate ice cream amazingly great. Mint to be forgot the picture it mint ice cream with Andes mints rolled on mason. It comes with a warmed brownie and chopped Andes mints on top with whip cream. You have to like mint to have this but it was delicious. My milkshake was okay.. would I go back? I'm not sure, maybe if I was in the area and really craving a "crazy" milkshake. I went in and I thought you walk up the the register and order but no they seat you as if you're at a restaurant though I said I just want to get one for takeout so they said oh just go to the register then and the man at the register said for take out you can only get simple shakes so I was like I guess I'll have to sit at a table which he instantly found me one. This milkshake is made with coffee ice cream that is blended and poured into a chocolate iced mason jar which has been rolled in crushed Oreos. It is then topped with whipped cream, crushed Oreos, a donut, a whole Oreo, marshmallow, and chocolate drizzle. My teeth hurt reading that all over again. lol Despite all of that sugar, it was surprisingly not sickening sweet. The donut is a little much and I could definitely do without it. Aside from that, it was pretty dang good. The hubs got the "U Gotta Be Puddin' Me" which is banana pudding ice cream in a caramel-swirled jar with a vanilla buttercream rim and Nilla wafers. It is then topped with banana pudding, a slice of warm banana bread and fresh bananas, finished with caramel and whipped topping. He was NOT a fan of the banana bread but enjoyed it otherwise. I went to the Crazy Mason last weekend. It was pretty cool. I was blown away by the sheer amount of different milkshakes they had. Each was unique and had a lot of work put into it! My husband ordered a vanilla shake and I chose a milkshake with coffee and vanilla ice cream, with chocolate chips. I was told they do not have chocolate chip ice cream, just cookie dough and Mint chocolate chips. Once again, I asked if chocolate chips could be added, but I was again turned down. I then asked for a milkshake with coffee and vanilla ice creams, that they could do. I was shocked with all the candies, sprinkles sauces and sparkler topped ice creams, they could not add chocolate chips or sprinkles to my shake. Ok. There was a 15 minute wait after our simple orders were placed. My very thick shake came in a thin plastic cup, about 16 oz., roughly, just not very big as others have posted. Both our shakes came with a dollop of whipped cream and a cherry on top. Spoons and straws are provided, but the straw was wide enough, I didn't need a spoon. The ice cream used is Blue Bell, my favorite. It's delicious and flavorful. The shakes were both thick, my husband used a spoon. Since we ordered simple shakes, there was nothing more to add. Then the price for 2 milkshakes was $22.00. We didn't receive any mason jars, just thin plastic cups. We sat at a table where no napkins were provided and there was no table service that we saw, we had to pick up our shakes. The bathrooms were clean and kept up. I am glad I went there to try these shakes, just be warned of the price. I'm sure if they added chips, sprinkles or anything else, it would have been more. If I were to purchase the ice cream and toss it into my Vitamix with a teaspoon or two of milk, I would have had the same, at less the cost. I am not unhappy with my milkshake, but to wait 15 minutes, be refused chocolate chips or sprinkles bugs me, and no table service especially for the cost. You're seated at a table instead of ordering at a counter which was nice. they have many different dessert options, including their crazy milkshakes, but offer simpler desserts. They offer bottled water, which is only $.50 and I would recommend since the desserts are very rich. We shared the seasonal frozen hot chocolate milkshake. It was delicious. We were so excited about the milkshake that I forgot to take a picture. Other desserts sounded good like dessert nachos, and ice cream sandwiches. Y'ALL this place is the go to for a sweet treat! I am a native and I wouldn't go anywhere else but here when I have a sweet craving! They have everything from ice cream, milkshakes, some pies, and my personal favorite, the dessert nachos! They are so crispy and topped with all the best flavors! My kids also love it here!
