I have one month left on my lease and wanted to write an updated review, to be fair, and also provide additional information about the building and area for anyone considering the move to Long Beach. PROS: The building is well-maintained and managed, probably the best you will find in this area. There is a lot to do within walking distance! The tenants are friendly and this is a great placed to be if you work from home. CONS: The cost of living is high, parking and other utilities are all separate and increase the rent significantly, so this is something to consider. I would like to really speak to the area, though: when you walk outside, there is the constant smell of weed, which is unpleasant (unless you're into that). There are many homeless people in the area, in my one year living here I have seen multiple people surrounded by ambulances and police after an overdose; I have never seen so many police and crime scenes in my life; literally multiple times a day I see police flying down the streets in pursuit or areas taped off after some sort of crime has occurred. Although you're located across from downtown Long Beach, the smell of pee is rampant, it's a homeless city essentially, and most of the businesses are closed down or have very limited hours. I mention all of the above because if you are considering moving here from somewhere else, I would say really take the time to think about the surrounding area. There is constructions everywhere, at all times. They may have constructed nice buildings in this area, but the cliche Long Beach crime and ghetto is alive and well. read more

The complex entire apartment complex smells like dog piss. There are pee stains in just about every single crevice of this apartment complex. The stains have been there for months. When there are showings, the complex suddenly smells like a scent with a hint of dog piss. The dog piss is pungent notwithstanding the scent that supposed to cover it up. You'd think that the money from the pet insurance that residents pay would be used to clean up the stains. If you want to pay over $2,500 to live in an apartment complex that smells like dog piss, this is the place. The dog piss is in the hall ways and in the stairwells. There is no escape from the scent of dog piss. Have you ever played the floor is lava? You would definitely lose here because of all the dog piss stains. The problem has been getting worse and worse. I personally get very nauseous walking through these hall ways. I can not imagine how children deal with this horrible smell. The smell of dog pisses causes headaches. read more

Too many problems to name with this supposed "luxury apartment" community. They allow unruly large dogs that are supposed to be prohibited from living here that pee and poop everywhere, packages are constantly stolen and management is reactive to a litany of problems instead of proactive. Trust me, look for a better place at this high price point unless you're on public assistance and get a housing subsidy. read more

She was rolling her eyes an huffing and puffing so much she didn't want me on her cancer causing premises , still think bout this from Time to time She LOVED to sit behind that desk in the locked office and stir that coffee but when it came time to showing me around she acted like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum . I mean she was really really mad at me ?! Sorry for bothering you to make you get up and work . Sorry you hate your job . Maybe you should go work where you don't have to do customer service , where you don't have to interact with anyone bc traumatizing potential tenants and victimizing them is unwise especially where you're gonn sit staring through the glass window and anyone can see you're in there looking at your computer and refusing to get off your rump and give a rats dash about your own job . read more

The location is clearly excellent, but unfortunately I've had a pretty frustrating and unpleasant experience trying to interact with the leasing office. I withdrew my rental application in early November, upon finding out that the screening process requires giving a third-party app (Payscore) extensive access to 12 months of banking transactions and data. According to the application agreement, because I withdrew within 3 days, the $100 application deposit should have been refunded shortly after. It has now been well over two months, and The Crest has neither refunded my deposit nor provided any sort of update or explanation in response to several requests. Communicating with the office was somewhat challenging even while I was an active applicant, and since withdrawing my application I've apparently simply been ignored. To be honest, I'm rather glad that I didn't end up moving into this building and having to deal with this office long-term. read more

Was a resident for five years. The property is not bad, but the current leasing office proved difficult to work with and frequently unresponsive. Upon having my rent raised yet at the conclusion of my latest lease, I chose to move on. The move-out process was poorly handled by the leasing office in a number of aspects. Despite taking great care of my apartment over the years, I was charged nearly $500 upon move out for structural issues that were present upon my move-in, along with other nitpicky items that wound up totalling a small amount OVER my initial move-in deposit. Not only that, I was IMMEDIATELY turned over to a collection agency for that small balance, all while they attempted to auto-bill me ANOTHER month of rent despite having given my notice to vacate in the proper fashion. I wish I could give a better review, but the current property management group's leasing office truly made leaving a decision I will not ever regret. read more

This place is definitely not "luxury living" as advertised The new manager Alicia is horrible! The internet is atrocious and will make it difficult if you work from home. You will pay an overpriced monthly rent payment and then get charged per parking spot on top of it. Also under current mgmt the building does not host any fun events like others in downtown. As a 3 yr+ resident who moved in during Covid this will be my last few months here. Do yourself a favor and check out Shoreline or the many other nice buildings in downtown besides this one. If you want to move to a place that calls the police on their own residents and racially profiles people of color then you have found your place! read more

Well- if the rest of the remaining 12 months on our lease are as good as the first few weeks, going to be the best placed I've lived thus far! #1 factor are just how nice everyone has been- leasing team, property mgmt and the excellent maintenance team that quickly resolved minor move in issues! Everyone I've met in the neighborhood has been so friendly & kind. Main reason I moved here. #2 are the fantastic amenities! Using the plunge pool regularly even though it's 50 degrees because the rooftop view of the Christmas lights at Convention Center are spectacular. . Also using the well nicely equipped workout room with treadmills, dumbbell free weights and high end weight machines. #3 is the beautiful location and frankly the past couple weeks have been the rainiest and coldest of the whole year. Lookout when nicer weather comes. RISU Restaurant and staff on our ground floor are awesome. Food, entertainment and great drinks- what more could you ask for?! 4 star Fairmont Hotel opening next door in '23 and Ruth's Chris right next door.... Dozens of stores and restaurants within blocks and walking distance. Can't wait to try them all and enjoy all the museums, venues and attractions nearby. So far so great! read more

I could not be more happy with my decision to move into The Crest! I made a huge move from the East Coast to Long Beach for a residency and I was admittedly very nervous about the move as I was only able to do virtual tours. The Crest absolutely exceeded my expectations and I have nothing but incredible things to say about Ellie, Nathalia, and Joey! They've made my long distance move super smooth and have answered my many questions along the way. Incredible support from an amazing team. This apartment complex is in a great location and has a very modern look. Outside of that, it is under new management and it has become a completely different culture compared to when I first moved in. I was one of the first tenants in the new building which opened at the beginning of COVID. Things were going decently until new management came in and is changing everything with little to no regard of tenant opinion. She hiked rent 10% and added additional charges for everything including higher utilities, Internet, trash, and parking - to the tune of an extra $500+ per month! If you move here for the location, be prepared for a steep increase anytime your lease is up with no regard to your loyalty. Not to mention the fact that the walls were patched up upon move in and now the "entire" apartment needs to be repainted which is completely ridiculous. The second star in this rating is strictly based on location and look of apartment but was able to get another luxury two bed (bigger) apartment two blocks away and saving $800 a month compared to what my monthly fees would have been raised to. Update 3/2/22 - it's comical that their response to this review states that they're glad I liked their amenities (which were not mentioned at all in this review). Their very response to this review shows that they have no regard to their tenants, show no remorse, and are only worried about their image and attracting new people that they can price gouge. read more

I have been enjoying living at The Crest!! I have lives here for over a year and recently renewed my lease. The staff has been amazing and helpful whenever I have reached out. They are all friendly, and a easy group to have a chat with. The neighbors are all fun and pleasant to be around with in our amazing pool rooftop. The property is safe and well maintained. I have lived at The Crest for the past 18 months. Ellie was my leasing agent when I first moved in and she was great! Made the transition of moving into my first apartment very seamless. Over the last year there has been a change in management and Jamie is now the new leasing agent. Jamie has been attentive to all of my questions/concerns regarding my move out. I want to shout out the maintenance staff especially Jairo. If anything is broken or needs attention in the apartment he is prompt and super helpful. The only issue about the building is the fire alarms go off about every other week and the smoke detectors in the apartments are VERY sensitive so can be pretty frustrating for pet owners and people who work from home. I have also heard some people say the parking is no longer included in the rent, I have personally not been affected by that but would have definitely deterred me in the beginning. Overall the Crest has been a great place to call home this past year and a half. I am moving back east so I will not be renewing my lease, but definitely worth checking out if you want to live downtown!! read more

My boyfriend and I have lived at the crest for almost 2 years and we have loved living here and we're sad to leave! It's a GREAT location next to the beach and downtown and everything is within walking distance. The apartment itself has a lot of great amenities such as a rooftop with a pool, gym, office space with printer and not to mention you can order from Risu downstairs and they'll deliver it to your home or to you on the rooftop! Jamie has been wonderful and super helpful. There was one night where we had lost our keys and it was 2am! Jamie responded immediately and was able to let us into our apartment. She has also helped make the transition out a breeze. The only small complaint I have is that the fire alarms would go off at times when we're cooking but that was only when we cooked something like steak that produces a lot of smoke. We just open all of the windows and easy fix! read more

Since I moved here, I am having trouble with the noise from the upstairs neighbor. I have repeatedly complained to office and security patrol, but the upstairs neighbor does not improve at all. Their footsteps are always noisy and the sounds of sex are often heard . Also, until around 3 am, I can't sleep because they're usually noisy. read more

Moving from Irvine to Long Beach was a little nervous especially, since we were doing it during the protest and riots! Nathalia and Ellie, made the move very easy and pleasant. Nathalia and Ellie were both more than helpful since day one, showing us all the available apartments and being patient with us as we made our decision on a floor plan (a little back and forth since so many options were available but both were more than accommodating to all of our questions.) The location is the best and even when the Best Buy installers came, they said that this was one of the nicest buildings and locations they have seen on the seaside strip. We had looked at many apartments for a couple months and armore than happy with our decision to move into The Crest! Really can't wait to explore all that LB has to offer! And with the location we can walk everywhere! read more

I just moved in and so far it has been a great experience. Jamie and Sarah have been wonderful to work with, super helpful. All the staff have been helpful. I was moving from Central CA and was able to do everything through email or online. Very convenient. The building is great with really nice amenities. The location is amazing - the fact that you can walk to everything is so great! It is city living so there are homeless around, but it's not terrible. I came from a small town and had homeless people there too - they're everywhere. It feels very safe. So far the people I've met have been very friendly. read more

Honestly the old leasing manager was great. The new one is an absolute nightmare and freak show. Completely out to lunch when it comes to communication, harassing and discriminating. Unreasonably changing the agreements that I signed up to live there based on , and flat out inconsiderate. There is no respect for human decency, no regard for equality regarding residents, changing the parking situation to make all residents pay $100 PER Vehicle per month, there is general lack of respect for privacy . She either can't read or just doesn't, in emails specifically requesting certain safety measures and considerations she blatantly ignored everything, and neglected my requests resulting in trespassing, theft, and then when confronted about it she made excuses. I am appalled by the lack of consideration. It's overpriced, amenities are bullshit, all her so called events are fake, and her ability to take responsibility for her own communications is absent. I would not recommend anyone live there or expose themselves to such disrespect and disregard for simple human civility. I don't know how she got that job but it's such a mistake for the property as a whole. read more

I really loved living at the Crest. For me, outdoor activities and safety were my top concerns and the crest met those with flying colors. The area on the rainbow bridge, the convention center, and harbor felt comfortable to walk around alone. You can walk all the way to the harbor without ever stopping at crosswalk. SO pedestrian and bike friendly. Really like the downstairs restaurant RiSU. Wished we could have had more time living here. The office always replied and usually pretty quickly. People said hi a lot in the community to include the staff. Rooftop pool was great (loved the semi-private cabanas). The only cons in my experience- 1. The package room would sometimes be disorganized with packages that wouldn't get picked up for weeks (but at the same time that made me worry less about theft if packages could sit there for days/weeks). They offer package lockers but its a separate service you have to pay for. 2. Access to the mail room is a little weird with needing to exit the building and go across the bridge and sort of through the restaurant. Having a separate mail/package room in two different parts of the building made it so I was never quite sure where my packages were delivered. I always got my packages, but something to be aware of if providing instructions for delivery. 3. The the street level entry was usually confusing for food delivery (and guests for that matter). Delivery folks sometimes struggled to find the main lobby which would lead to myself/partner needing to actually go find them instead. So on one hand the lobby being on the rainbow bridge increased security and reduced interactions with car traffic, but occasionally was inconvenient. 4. Garage gate opens outward but the card sensory could be finicky so it was usually a bit of a dance/art to pull forward far enough for the sensory but not too close to the gate. Package and food delivery is an occasional thing and am really just mentioning mild inconveniences here that people that might be moving would probably like to know. If I move back to LB, I'm coming back to the Crest and I feel like it's a rare thing to want to return to an apartment complex. read more

If I can rate this place, I will give it a ZERO! I went in for a delivery for a customer who happens to live at The Crest apt. As I stopped by to ask a young white lady who had long blonde hair who was working the leasing office (around 9-10:30Am )if I can make this delivery to customer.Now Customer did not pick up my call from the call box I was calling from. Customer instructions was to leave his "Hello Fresh" box to his front door step. I contact leasing office and ask lady working the office if I can have access to get in for delivery, now I have been here several times and never had an issue with employees working there. I can recall employees at the leasing office very nice and giving me access to get in for a delivery to customer. Now what I'm delivering is food and fresh food, the box the food comes in is cold and recommended to be refrigerated. As I talked to her she said she could not grant me access and giving me a "Hard time" she then stated that she can only let me in just this one time. (Even After the fact that I said food need to be deliver to customer per customer instruction.I tell her when I have been here in the past for a delivery I have never had an issue until today? Anyway moral of this is not to be rude !! She was really rude when speaking to her. If you can't compose yourself and be helpful you should not be working leasing office. If this is your Protocol then people living there should know this. Because people do work and get busy and will not always have time to answer a phone call from the delivery guy. read more
