My wife and I stopped at The Crooked Surf for a drink before we went into the pool and they did not disappoint to say the least. We got Pina Coladas with a Strawberry Lava Flow and it was delicious. Not to strong but not to weak. The bartender was great as he showed us all the different lava flows you could add to your drinks! The vibe here is laid back and very fun and inviting! I had the chicken bowl with grilled peppers and onions and a pineapple teriyaki sauce and some slightly hot aoli sauce. I give it a 4.5. Would be better if it had grilled pineapple in it! Husband had the ahi poke nachos. Rated a 4.5. The fish and sauce were really good. He even liked the pickled cucumbers, and he doesn't like cucumbers! Would be better with regular light nacho chips instead of fried wonton wrappers; they were bulky to hold and cut up his mouth a little bit. Service was pretty good. Super tasty. It's located inside the Sheraton Hotel just poolside. If you're a guest it seems like a really convenient place to get a bite to eat. Looks like a bar and they serve you if you're wet from the pool too. We arrived at 10:50 and they said they start the lunch at 11am. Not sure what the hours are all day though. LOCO MOCO WAS SOOOOO GOOD. it's a bed of rice, mushrooms, caramelized onions, Wagyu beef patty, and a fried egg with gravy throughout. TRY IT. It's a dish they serve everywhere and I don't know how good it is elsewhere but it was sooo good here. Fish and chips tasted fresh, crispy, airy too. We went into our HI vacay without researching much for food since we seem to be disappointed when we do that. This is the best food we've had in Oahu and almost all of Kauai as well while still being *somewhat* reasonably priced for Kauai. Came here to get small kine drunk before I go to sleep, buuuut thanks to this Crooked Surf bar, they did an amaaaazing job on NOT doing that for me. This bar is located in the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort right along the pool and ocean. My friend and I came here and it took about 10mins before we were helped. Drinks we got were ok and the chicken wings were cold and tasted like it was overcooked. The chicken wings had like an vinegary adobo-like taste to it and sprinkled with furikake, all which weren't in the description of the this dish lol. The overall flavor to me was ok, but if my friend knew it tasted vinegary, he wouldn't have ordered it and on top of that, it did taste like it wasn't fresh. We ordered french fries which weren't on the menu and that was really the only thing delicious. For drinks, we ordered the Painkiller (gross), the Pineapple Downfall (mediocre), and other custom drinks. Our waiter is very nice, but he took forever to come around. The bar wasn't too busy, but he was like the only one working the floor and there was only one bartender working the whole bar on top of the floor tables. Overall service was trash, the wait for so long to get my drink or put in an order, that I was freezing outside. I would've had better luck just walking over to Longs, buying alcohol there, and getting all bus in the jacuzzi. read more

Y'all. If you order from the Fire Hen menu, don't get tenders; the chicken texture and breading was barely a step up from freezer Dino nuggets. I was excited to go and try this new bar I've heard so much about. It's right on the beach. It was raining the day we went so we didn't get to sit in the nice chairs overlooking the ocean. I was very impressed with the number of rum's they have in stock from all over the world. Four kinds of Mai Tai's was also impressive as is their cocktail menu. So why is it not 5 stars? Meh. To be five stars there really has to be something remarkable. This place is fine, not remarkable. You've seen the menu. Happy hour is 4-6 and it means $3 off starters and $5 drafts. I've had the pork nachos. Loved them. Good pieces of pork and a nice cheese sauce. I've also had the garlic wings. You get about 7 wings with a ginger garlic sauce. Very tasty. The fish tacos are fine but they need a side, maybe chips. They are served by themselves (2 of them). I liked them but I'm looking forward to tasting the seared Ahi tuna BLT next time. Go here if you are close by. Most every night there is entertainment. Not Sunday however. Garbage chicken tenders. Ordered guava habanero which is 3 out of 4 spice level and questioned if there was even any sauce at all. Expensive, skimpy and just not at all worth it. Edible, I'll say that, passable garlic parm fries. For the 300 a night Sheraton hotel stay I wish I could go in expecting excellent food but if they can't nail some tenders I'm not bothering with anything else. Great beach views though. read more

Bartender Jenn was the best bartender I've had on the island. I come here often and have been to every bar around the area and she's my favorite. The food was pretty good and the atmosphere is great. My partner and I spent the afternoon at the bar to hide out from a sudden rainstorm. We were very impressed by not only the atmosphere of the bar, but also the food and cocktail options to choose from. Our bartender, morgan, was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable about the menu and available cocktails, and provided us an amazing experience. He offered suggestions around the island and made us feel like we were at home. We were so impressed with what the hotel had to offer and how wonderful the staff were, that we ended up booking a room for our last night on the island at the Sheraton. Later that evening, we enjoyed dinner and cocktails. We had the Hurricane Fries, Peruvian Fish Tacos, and the Kalua Pork Sandwich. The food came out fast and was absolutely delicious. For cocktails, we had the Lime in the Coconut and the Pina Clearada. Both were AMAZING and with the Lime in the Coconut, you get to keep the coconut as a souvenir. We also dabbled in some shots of Koloa Light Rum, which were delicious and reasonably priced. Finally, the best experience was the hospitality Kinohionani provided throughout our entire dinner. She was truly a breath of fresh air and was passionate about treating her guests with respect, kindness, and she was so nice to talk to. I would recommend the Crooked Surf to anyone visiting Kauai or staying at the Sheraton, solely on the positive experiences we had with both Morgan and Kinohionani. 10/10 will return when we come back to Kauai. read more

We're staying at this Sheraton in Kaua'iand as a Marriot Bonvoy member I feel obligated to comment on our experience tonight. Though the waitress took a bit too long to come over I'm assuming they're short staffed- she was nice and efficient in taking our orders. Things went down hill from then. Our drinks the island old fashion and upside down Shirley we're too sweet for our tastes but admittedly most drinks in Hawaii are sweet! We ordered wings a Cesar salad with ahi tuna and a Ruben sandwich with kimchi. The wings were okay but the blue cheese dressing was either not blue cheese or tasteless? Admittedly we didn't complain. The bigger problem was that the Cesar salad dinner came out with the appetizer and the Reuben was no where to be found. After nearly finishing the wings ( a messy appetizer at best) we finally got the plates we requested. The ahi tuna was okay but could have used a better sear and the Ruben did eventually show up but far too late. The food is acceptable but the service is lacking ....! read more

Nice little beach/pool side bar at the Sheraton Coconut Breach Resort in Kapaa. Happy hour every day from 3 to 6pm includes $3 off all appetisers (pupus). We had the kalua pork nachos and also the poke nachos too! Both were tasty but the sauce on the poke nachos was really salty. I guess they want you to drink more! You can also sit by the pool and order from the servers that will come to you. There next day we ordered the big Kahuna Burger. It was really tasty, but tiny! Big? No! Too bad. It also needed lettuce. They had live music and David, the guitarist/singer was fantastic. Then they actually had a great show with Keiki hula dancers. So cute! We enjoyed our time here! read more

This place is your standard bar/lunch resort restaurant. There are no bells and whistles. The food is pretty typical "bar food" with a twist of local flavors. We were greeted as we sat down, but because the waiter/waitress is also going around the pool and taking orders, the overall service takes a while. I stopped in while waiting on my room to be ready at the hotel. The food was just okay. It satisfied the need to eat after getting off the plane but that was about it. The flavor could've been bolder, more pronounced, and tastier. The drinks were also just okay. I ordered a few from the pool in the days to come, but for the lack of alcohol in them, they shouldn't be as expensive as they are. If you want an easy bite and happen to be staying at the Sheraton, this will suffice but by all means don't go out of your way to eat here. read more

Sheraton Kauai in Coconut Beach hotel is next door to our timeshare, Kapaa Shores. Since our breakfast experience at one of their restaurants was so pleasant and good, we purchased a resortpass for the day to spend in their pool and enjoy food from the other venues. I actually had to do some work, so I parked myself on one of the tables by Crooked Surf, while hubby and daughter lounged by the pool. When the bar opened at 11am, we ordered a few drinks. Daughter had the blue lagoon and I had the strawberry mojito. At first few sips, thought the mojito was weak and I didn't taste any rum. But by the time my glass was half full, I was feeling it LOL. My daughter loved her blue lagoon so much, she had to order another one. We then tried the shishito peppers elote style and they were so good. We love elotes and this was prepared real well. I then tried the Hawaiian poutine, our server's recommendation. First of all, both appetizer servings were huge. It was more like a meal. The three of us could barely finish it. And the same gravy we went crazy over the loco moco, was drenched all over the french fries on the poutine, with a lot of kalua pork and topped with crunchy bacon pieces. Tried this place twice and disappointed both times. Cocktails are made using cheap, pre-mixed concoctions, served in plastic cups (despite sitting in restaurant) and are about $16 each. Bloody mary was undrinkable. Mai Tai was not far behind. If only there was somewhere nearby where they could find fresh local ingredients for their drinks! Seems they can get away with the poor quality and high prices because they have a captive audience with the hotel. Much better options around. read more

I have eaten here a few times and the food was always really good. Stopped by yesterday and ordered our usual fish tacos. They weren't the blacked ones they always had on the menu, they were limp, barely seasoned with a little sprig of cilantro. No salsa cabbage or anything else to enhance it. The menu was also smaller with fewer choices than before. I'm not sure if it was due to it being Mothers Day and them being busy but I could have had better tacos from the truck around the corner for a lot less money. Such a bummer. read more
