I ordered take out so i can only rate the food, unfortunately I wasn't impressed. The good was the skinny fries that came with the burger, very greasy, salty, packed with flavor. They we're great. Everything else fell short. The fish came in four small pieces and were soggy, the thick cut fries were like eating latex balloons filled with starch. Both im convinced went straight from the freezer to the microwave. Not even worth finishing. The burger my wife got was packed with delicious veggies and sauces, but they were clearly there to mask the completely unseasoned bland burger. I called to let the kitchen know thats not what i expect when paying 16$ for fish and chips. Atleast The Crown Pup looks like a great little bar, i plan on going back to hopefully order a new and improved fish and chips. read more

After beers for breakfast at New Belgium Brewery, we'd worked up quite an appetite. Wanting to eat at a small local restaurant, we asked a local at the brewery where he would suggest and he pointed us to the Crown Pub. With fantastic food and awesome service, we were not disappointed. We saddled up to the bar and ordered a couple of beers and perused the menu. Etienne had the best fish and chips we'd ever had. The fish was in small, thinner pieces and was perfectly crunchy and not greasy at all. Le sigh, still fantasizing about those fish and chips. I had a turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich that was so good, I finished the entire thing... and it was huge. Strong work, I tell you, strong work. The bartender girl (bartendress?) was super nice and kept us happy. If only we were staying in Fort Collins, we may have stayed longer for another beer or three and made a day of it. The Fort Collins restaurant scene is full of subtle surprises. Walking down College in Old Town, it's easy to underestimate some of the restaurants and bars as you stroll by, often dismissing them for serving typical, standard food. I think this is where The Crown Pub may have fallen for those who haven't heard the scoop. By the look of the pub on the outside, it might seem like just another bar in Old Town. But, oh no. That is not the case. The Crown Pub is Fort Collins' top gastropub - a place where you can grab a drink and one incredible high-quality meal all at the same time. The only sad part about The Crown Pub? It tends to get busy and the service slows down. Our server was especially nice in letting us know that our dinner would be served soon, but it did take some time. I got a bit restless and I'm usually a very patient person when it comes to slow service. We ended up missing the end of the party at the other bar when we intended to go back for a few more beers and say our goodbyes. Popped in before dinner and had the freshest Tequila Sunrise in the Solar system. I know, right? A Tequila Sunrise at an Irish Pub...are you allowed? We always order a pull off the pint list, but when you see a bottle of Galliano hiding in the shadows of so many scotch bottles, you have to order a drink from the seventies...a drink from an era 20 years before any of the bartenders were actually born. We were blown away. The Sunrise was made with fresh squeezed oranges right in front of your eyes...sweet and as thick as Von Miller's glasses. We are not sure what prompted us to visit The Crown Pub while bar hopping last year, but we are glad we did. What draws us back to this Fort Collins staple? It must be the pints, the plethora of scotches, and good pub food. Atmosphere: When we walked in we immediately noticed the large wooden bar on the north side dominating most of this English style pub. Our eyes kept drifting back to the rows of scotches lined seductively behind the bar, because this place is definitely a step up from your average Fort Collins pub. The dark colors with the warm wood and dark carpet give the dining area a very cozy feel. Service: We have always had decent service, whether it is at the bar or sitting at a table. The bartenders and servers have always been engaging as well as informative. No complaints. Drinks: On their website they advertise "Over 30 single malt Scotch's, Small batch bourbon, 16 drafts and over 20 bottled beers". We figure there really isn't much more to say, but they do offer a full bar. Food: The Crown Pub has two menus- one "Seasonal" and one "Classic". The Classic menu consists of pub style classics, appetizers, a few salads and soup. I've been to the crown pub on multiple occasions, it's easily my favored spot of Fort Collins. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood I try to make it a point to stop in for at least a beer. The aesthetic is that of 'ye olde pub' and the tap line up is absolutely breath taking. The seat yourself attitude fits right in, as this is a place for mature patrons and people who are capable of just enjoying the moment and having some fun. The upstairs is just the beginning, as there's a downstairs area with couches and a cozy bar scene. My favorite part of this pub is definitely the beer lineup. They've always had the Lips of Faith series from New Belgium on tap, which is probably my favored beers in the region. Additionally, the food is pretty stellar, though just a *tad* high for the area, really nothing to notice. 5/5 for Food and drink, as I mentioned I make it a point of my day to stop here if we're ever in the area 5/5 for service, I've never had to wait long for a beer or food, and the bar tenders are always friendly and interested in what kind of character you might be 4/5 for the cost, but I'm not dropping my stars due to this because I feel the killer aesthetic and food makes up for it. I include the forward slash because it is not necessary the best bar or restaurant by itself, but probably the best place to eat that has a full bar. I'm writing a second review considering this place is as good as it gets in Fort Collins. There is a bartender there (Chris I believe - shaved head mid/upper 30s) that has the personality of the bartender you want as a bar owner. They have a healthy serving of local beer on tap and the food is very good. I recommend the burger stated from my previous review; however, during my second visit I ordered the King's Curry (chicken, there are other options) and it was surprisingly delicious. My husband and I went to The Crown Pub on recommendation of a bartender-ess at Odell Brewery. What a great recommendation! First of all - our server, Chewy (yes, like Chewbacca) was awesome. He was attentive, warm and welcoming, and speedy mcgoo. We never felt like tourists - which, now that I think of it, was true all over Fort Collins. Secondly - Happy Hour (3-6 PM) is a great way to go. My huz and I had a couple beers, split the Pommes Frites (YOU MUST GET THE GARLIC TRUFFLE AIOLI) and the Fish and Chips (fish was fab), and finished with a delightful bread pudding (if you get the bread pudding, ask for the ice cream on the side. It comes out so piping hot, the ice cream melts fast). I would recommend all of these things. Thirdly - the location. We had never been to Fort Collins - I'm so glad we saw downtown before we went back up into the mountains. Stopped in here on our way to visit my future brother-in-law and his wife in Cheyenne, WY after getting into DIA and hour later than scheduled. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, and there really didn't seem to be any sort of established system for doing so, which was kind of weird, really the only negative part of our visit. We ended up just going downstairs and hovering over some tables that were closing their tabs. I think all four of us got fish and chips and a beer. I chose Blue Moon as a way to try and convince myself that it wasn't so damn cold outside. Loaded up the fish with vinegar and went to town. It was freaking delicious. Loaded up the steak cut fries with ketchup and went to town on them, also fantastic. I was kind of hoping to see some shepherds pie on the menu, as that (to me at least) represents the ultimate cold weather pub food, but the fish and chips was still great. I just went there 20 minutes ago and I received terrible service ! I'm Asian-American and I feel so discriminated against. The food my daughter and I ordered did not come out as expected (it was a calamari appetizer) The waitress who allegedly worked there for 14 years (she did not tell us her name and she was hostess at the time) gave us what looked like squid rings and a few bread crumbs with some change. I told the server about it but she talked to me like I did not know what calamari was and how they typically made it even though I've been there previously with my boss with the same order and flawless presentation. I felt so disrespected and upset because she made me feel like what I expected should not have been expected ("light breading is how we make it"). All I asked for was a squid with adequate breading because that is what calamari is. I should have taken a picture, but anyways afterward she offered to remake it with "heavy breading" and take it off our check (we got fries as well) but I no longer wanted to stay there so I asked for the check and she proceeded to let me know that it was on the house and the calamari they remade can be "given to the homeless if I really did not want them." At this point I was enraged at her attitude and response about the situation so I left a tip amount of the cost of my fries. and the beer. read more

This is one of the best places to hang out for a real Fort Collins experience. Great food, cool atmosphere and a fun bar full of variety. I felt like I had to experience it a couple of times before writing a review and every time has been a good one. It's a dark wood english style pub and it's almost always the vibe in this place that makes it a fun place to be. It's popular with college students so be advised that's the crowd you'll most likely be hanging with. Sometimes subdued other times a bit out of control. The downstairs area can sometimes become a refuge to the busy upstairs (just note that it's an option) but sometimes its the opposite depending on the groups of people who come in. The food and service are really good and they have a diverse menu. Even at these busy times you'll most likely find that the they keep up their efficiency which has contributed to having a good time every time I've been there. Service, food, and drinks (including HH) here are awesome. It felt incredibly stuffy the 2nd time I was in, just as the dinner rush was peaking, but it's an old building, not much to be done. Pointers from the head chef there: if there during the day, for better service sit at the bar top. About the food.. this is really some top notch pub fare! Calamari was great and the batter is super light and crunchy. The Cajun remoulade or whatever it was and marinara were both equally tasty for dipping. Greasy but satisfies as a hearty snack while drinking. Mussels are also good, flavors are on point and less heavy on the tummy than the calamari. Steak app was delish. I love how they fried the pita and the steak was nicely rare. The gorgonzola cream sauce was on point - not too heavy and didn't drown the food. Tuna Nicoise was the perfect salad/dinner for a hot summer night. I think the seasoning on the outside of the ahi could have been kicked up but it was seared perfectly. The fish just melted in my mouth! Dressing was good (more horseradish needed imo) and i wish there was more arugula.. But the real star of this dish was the boiled egg. Best. Freakin. Boiled. Egg. Ever. No joke. And I mean, you could be muttering to yourself, like how hard is it to boil an egg, right? Let me tell you that once you've tasted one, I mean texture and everything, you will know that eating eggs as you knew it was all a lie until now. Anyway.. get the damn salad, okay? Chicken and prosciutto with gnocchi was the one item that sounded absolutely delicious but actually was quite underwhelming. This is a heavy dish- the sauce was a tad too salty & acidic (and I don't get heartburn) after a couple bites for me to further enjoy the dish, maybe due in part to the prosciutto ' s natural saltiness. Per head chef there, it is Italian prosciutto (which I don't run into enough) and I was sad to see it drowned out by the sauce because it deserves to be treated like the classy lady of fine cured meats that it is. The chicken wasn't anything to write home about, but the gnocchi was very tasty. If they can change the sauce I will happily give the dish another try. read more

This is a solid pub that serves solid pub food. It's strange to describe a pub as a great place to come and get sober, but that's what it was for me. The fiancee and I needed a place to get some yummy greasy food and sober up after the awesome brewery tour filled morning/early afternoon, and this place hit the spot. The service was fast and friendly, and it wasn't crowded at all on a Saturday afternoon. A cool atmosphere with enough TVs that you can watch sports if you want to but it's not overwhelming if you don't want to. Their hamburgers were fantastic, and if you are into that kind of thing, I heartily recommend adding a fried egg ($.50) to the bacon avocado burger. It was scrumptious! read more

So I did come back- I got the Chicken, Proscuitto, and Gnocci dish. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the Gnocci had the right texture (firm but not hard, soft but not mushy). The proscuitto was cooked to a crisp before being thrown into the tomato based sauce, which was on the tart side. The shaved basil helped to tone down the tartness of the sauce. Honestly, this was just another solid visit to the Crown Pub. I wasn't blown away, but I certainly don't regret coming back here. A solid 4.5 it is. read more

As I said above, the food is excellent, I like all their dishes, and they have a seasonal rotating menu, so it's not always the same ol' stuff! The service is usually pretty great, though sometimes it gets super busy so at times it will be a little slower than usual, but for the most part they are always on the spot!!! She was handling a full bar of patrons, including a group of 7 crowded at one end that were plastered. She handled everything gracefully and kept the crowd from getting rowdy. Nothing too exciting here. Good beer selection. But where in Ft. Collins isnt there a good beer selection?! Maybe it was what I ordered...I dont know. I had a turkey bacon and avocado sandwich. It came with fries or salad. I went with the salad. The salad was on point. Nice little side salad. Just how its supposed to be. The sandwich however, was not. I dont have anything too profound here. It just wasnt a good sandwich. the bread was dry, the turkey was dry and the dressing just didn't come through. The only think saving this sando was the avocado. Not a horrible place, just not a great one. The people I ate with seemed to enjoy their food. I'll give them another shot and try something different. read more

I have been here innumerable times. One thing I like is that it is pretty consistent on food quality. Some of their specials miss the mark for me but their main menu is reliable. Rolling two visits into one review: Before Christmas we stopped in for a late night meal. (Bonus: They serve their full menu until 12:00midnight.) I had a delicious pork chop with a baked acorn squash topped with bacon, and Brussels sprouts. This goes down as one of my favorite Ft Collins restaurant meals ever. Last night we went in for the Great Plates deal -- fish n chips! Four large fish portions on a heap of thick chips. Fish tastes great, the batter is crisp, all fresh tasting. The only thing that is disappointing is their slaw sucks, it is bland and limp and oily. Really relaxed atmosphere, people all around us enjoying the afternoon and having a great time. read more
