We had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. Although I'm in my mid 40s, I felt like I was too young to be there. The crowd was mostly over 60. Well over 60! I have ate here for breakfast a couple time since I moved to PT. I have been very impressed by the food. Always a gourmet breakfast for a good price. The only con I have is that my first visit wasn't the best service however, since then I think they have hired new employees. The service was way better my second visit. We are in Port Townsend to look at some land and our realtor recommended we have lunch here. We both had the Turkey, Avacado, & bacon sandwich, mine with fries and his with the house fries which turned out to be fried potatoes. We both thought the sandwich was very good. Not a lot of turkey on it though, but still tasty. I really liked the fries as they were crispy, which is how I prefer them. Hubby said the house fries were good, but he would prefer fries next time. Our server (who as it turns out, had served us last night at The Black Bear Diner in Sequim) kept our drinks filled and also kept checking back with us many times. Wow! A real local gem. We came here for fathers day and they gave the dad a mug! And the food was good too!

I had a very nice meat lovers scramble which was home made tasty and had plenty of sausage, ham and bacon as well as jack cheese. Potatoes were home fries style and good though not great. Could've served a bit more than were on the plate. They are after all potatoes and not expensive. On top it came with one piece of toast albeit it was a decent sized slice of bread. But really, one piece?! The raspberry compote they served to put on the toast was excellent. Increase the portion of spuds and serve 2 pieces of toast and I'd bump you up to 4 stars. read more

I've eaten at The Cup many times over the years, but apparently things have changed. My understanding is there is a new owner who seems more interested in her own interest instead of the customers interest. The waitress was not listening when we gave our order. Customers who came in after us, got their food before us. We waited so long for the food, over a half hour for simple items, that we had to get a "to go" box in order to make the ferry. We ate in the ferry line and discovered a $6 salad was missing from our order. The sandwich was mediocre and it had cheddar cheese instead of the advertised Havarti. The one salad we did get was a joke, 99% lettuce. Not doing this again! read more

Tried it twice... not sure why. If you're a fan of bitter, "Denny's style" coffee, you'll like this place. Me, not so much. Service was slow, the waitress (both times) was gabbing with the cook, and never came back to our table, after delivery of the meal. Boring, bland food, with under cooked potatoes and under cooked eggs. Never got the Salsa I asked for, and although I couldn't have swallowed another cup, waitress never came back to refill the coffee (my friend wanted some). read more

Prompt, courteous, and friendly service. No kids menu, but the waitress made it clear they would accommodate with an equivalent price. Little on the pricy side for a "small town" but the food was fantastic so it's a wash in my book. Portions were appropriate vs oversized. My wife had a scone which was a family recipe and was fantastic ! Scones are not an easy peasy food to get right. I could not get connected, but the restaurant does advertise a wireless connection. After paying the bill, I was provided a "to-go" cup for my coke if I chose - albeit a small detail, it reminded me of something I miss from "big" restaurants. Definitely recommend !! read more

I'm the pickiest eater when it comes to burgers. The Cup in Port Townsend, WA has an awesome mushroom bacon burger. The patty is seasoned well and all the accompaniment were fresh and delicious. I HIGHLY recommend The Cup Restaurant when you're driving through Port Townsend. read more

We have eaten here a number of times and the food is of gourmet quality. Breakfast is served until 3 p.m. and we love that. The service is both efficient and friendly. The waitress was rude and in desperate need of a nap. She threw the menus at us when we sat down and walked off without greeting us, tone of voice was uninviting, never asked us if everything was okay, and made us wait to pay for over 20 minutes. The food was not much better than the service. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict was pale and tasted more like sour cream with a little lemon added. Really WANTED to have lunch here today. Seated ourselves outside and...waited. Nothing. Went in to make sure staff knew we were out there. Got a rude "as soon as I can..." response. Went back out and ... waited. Left after waiting 15 minutes with NO sign of staff whatsoever. They either need to get better or more staff. I had driven by this restaurant for over two years and was excited to try it when a business group I'm in met there. We met there weekly for a few months. Initially, the service was acceptable and we were able to work out the interruptions during our meeting to take orders and serve food. It was $15 for oatmeal and tea, which I find a little high. In looking around the room at other breakfasts, I believe the price is too high for the quantity and quality of food served. Eventually, the owner required a high room rental fee, without the courtesy of notice. Our meeting there ended abruptly when the owner demanded we pay the high fee that did not include any of the cost of food we ordered. We had poor service that day and it was obvious our business was not wanted. It is unfortunate because over 20 of us are involved weekly in this meeting. This restaurant lost more than one customer that day in a small town with plenty of other options. Try Hudson Point Cafe for really great food. read more

Tried this place under old management and vowed never to go back, after reading some reviews and new owners decided to give it another try....BIG Mistake! was worse than the first time, Waitress who looked to be 15 (sure she was older) could not get the order straight (Sausage and eggs...DA) had to repeat it 3 times and asked for the toast well done, What came was warmed over pre cooked sausage, eggs floating in grease, toast that was almost white and soggy? and potatoes no one should eat!...Never again, way too many good places to eat in Port Townsend! read more

Can't really review the food because we never had any. We walked up and a VERY rude lady stopped us and said don't bother sitting at a table, we are running out of food and told us we could leave. After we picked our jaws up from the floor we did leave. Not giving them a bad review for running out of food but for by far being the rudest employee of a restaurant I have ever seen. Heard the lady talking to the customers who did have what looked like delicious food and she was no nicer to them. I just don't understand how you run out of ALL food at 12:00 on Sunday???? This was a solid choice for breakfast. Nothing fancy, just good breakfast fare. A small venue (35 people capacity) had every table filled at 9 am. We were among the tourists but there were those who were clearly regulars from town. Service was a bit slow as only one person was working the table. Four of us stopped here on a Sunday morning. The waitress was so stressed she was running. Had to ask her three times for sugar for the coffee. Never did get salt and pepper on the table. The hollandaise sauce was some of the poorest I've had. We generally had a great time though until the owner approached us and accused us loudly of starting a parking line incorrectly and destroying his parking scheme. When I pointed out to him that I had merely parked between two other cars that had now left he told me that was no excuse. He was not pleasant and became extremely nasty. There is no excuse for this in business and for this reason I would pick almost anywhere else to eat in Port Townsend the next time. The man was unbelievably rude in front of his customers and there are many kinder places with better food in this wonderful city. read more

we have enjoyed the cup many times for breakfast and lunch and always enjoyed it. today we were treated rudely by our waitress, who scolded us for bringing in the remains of our starbucks coffee. she likened it to bringing in our own food.. we could have finished it in the car i guess , but we were there to buy food and leave a tip. we felt insulted enough to leave and went to another restaurant. hope the owner sees this review. we will not return as we work hard for our money and dining out is a treat. so much for customer service read more

Drank tap water for a half hour, then left without ever seeing our server. The service was deplorable and they are far understaffed.

Great breakfast, staff was great. Had the granny sandwich which was excellent. Definitely will be back again.

I was totally turned off by the disastrous cream of broccoli soup a year ago. It was all flour and milk with a few green specks that might have been parsley. It contained no broccoli, was expensive, and, to say the least, repulsive. The service was very slow. read more

We live in Port Townsend and are very aware of the very, very, very poor customer service at restaurants in the area. The Cup fits well in the poor customer service category. On top of that, the food portions are small and mediocre in taste. We've been there three or four times and will stick to the better restaurants in town from now on. The straw that broke the camel's back - nasty customer service over the phone. I can only pay for so much abuse.
