We've been to Hudson Point Cafe a few years ago, but our most recent breakfast was particularly good. The pulled pork breakfast burrito is amazing--definitely one of the standouts and something we'd order again. I was a little hesitant to try the Boat Yard Hash again because I'd ordered it a few years ago and found it very underwhelming--mostly potatoes and not much flavor. I'm so glad I gave it another shot! This time it was completely different and absolutely delicious. It had tons of flavor and was a huge improvement from what I remembered. The biscuits and gravy were another winner. The gravy was packed with flavor and made the dish much more interesting than the bland, flour-and-milk style gravy you sometimes get. Went fishing with a friend and he wanted to stop for a bite on the way back - he raved about Hudson Point Cafe. They were busy on a Saturday morning, with a consistent wait of 2-4 tables (20 min or so). I think there were three servers covering the restaurant, each with probably about 6 tables. Our server was incredibly friendly but not that efficient. She'd grab one thing, drop it off, then go grab another and do it again instead of holding something in each hand, for example. If you're in a hurry, this may not be the best place but it's decent if you have a couple hours for a meal. The place has a down to earth, kitschy feel. I'd avoid the booths though - at least mine was free standing and connected to the person behind me. Every time they stretched or moved backwards, they'd push me into the table. I started with orange juice. It was fine, like Tropicana with lots of pulp. I ordered a breakfast burrito with smoked brisket, pepper jack, and caramelized onions. I have no idea how, but it was kind of bland. The meat was tender but didn't really taste like anything (needed more salt?) and I thought they'd forgot the onions until I found one inside. If I'd been blindfolded and you told me it was a cheese burrito with shredded pork, I probably would have believed you. It wasn't bad but it was so forgettable it's hard for me to even describe. If you're at the marina and you're not in a hurry, this may be worth a shot. Unless I'm with that friend who loves it, I'll probably try something else next time I'm in the area though. read more

This was a classically good breakfast spot. The service was great, we got a table right away. The coffee was solid, I think I had three cups. The food was really good too, my bacon and eggs were cooked well and tasted great. The only downside to this historic venue was the faint diesel smell in the air. Our first impression was the restaurant is small and rustic but it was packed on a Saturday morning for breakfast, which is a good sign. We were seated quickly and our waitress was the best ever! She was friendly, helpful in food choices, and her comments were funny and cute. The menu was nothing like the decor -- it was very unique & gourmet, such as crabcake Eggs Benedict. It was the noisiest cafe we've ever been in! It was deafening! They need to do some sound buffering. Yelling patrons and waitresses. Large bangs coming from the kitchen. It was aggravating! We love a good breakfast. And we love small business owned places. This fits the bill for both. Perched on the edge of the Point Hudson Marina harbor, you might get lucky and see the local otters swim in and out of the water and come up on land. Breakfast has always been outstanding. The biscuits and gravy was a hearty meal all by itself with lots of bits of sausage and generous amounts of gravy over tasty biscuits. The large seafood omelet was packed with salmon, scallops and prawns with smoked mozzarella and green onions. I have previous given this delightful cafe a 5 star review, but things have changed a bit. I am aware that staffing and high costs are an ever bigger problem for all food businesses. I hope this situation has not permanently changed one of my favorite local eateries. But I won't return soon for lunch, and maybe not even for breakfast, which I has been the real specialty. The menu is a bit confusing about sides (sweet vs wasabi cole slaw? Is a sweet cole slaw really a new option on only one menu item? Or is a mistake?). The online menu is missing a page that includes three burger variations, one of which is very disappointing: the Smash Burger was cooked dry and came with a thin fragment of lettuce, barely visible cheese, a bit more tomato, and no onion or condiments. Very lackluster. The Reuben sandwich was much better, but not outstanding. The extra $4 to upgrade from an extremely hearty potato salad to a small but nice green salad is worth it, unless you really really like potatoes. Service seems to have become just too laid back, and I base this on my last 3-4 visits. There is one server that puts me off coming entirely, but his approach seems to have extended to others. Yes it can be necessary to stop and take a breath when the place is packed and staff has been rushed off their feet for several hours. And it is lovely to chat with regular customers when you can take that time. But when you have promised ketchup or a water refill, try to bring that first... I feel a bit guilty publishing this, but this is not based on one visit, but on several. The food and attitude have gone downhill. I will miss the cherry cornmeal flapjacks, the delicious catfish, and more, but I will probably frequent other better venues for eating for the rest of this year. read more

We visited Port Townsend for the weekend, and met some friends for a late breakfast at the Hudson Point Cafe. Although the cafe could be called "rustic" , with uneven floors, mismatched tables and chairs, and an overwhelming smell of boat fuel, the food was actually very good. Be prepared to grab your own table, order your food, and relax with friends as the service is very slow. Between our group we had the Smoked Salmon Scram (very tasty with cream cheese and capers), the Bacon Cheddar Waffle ( deemed very good by our resident waffle expert), and the Corned Beef Scram ( the menu said from house made corned beef but was actually just cubes of very tough meat-skip this one) all with delicious house made potatoes. Was a bit pricey (@$16-$18 each, with tips for four of us over $100), but enough to take a little home for a snack later. read more

What a find!! Great view, classic atmosphere and friendly but slightly grumpy service. It's all you could ask for in your basic hole in the wall joint. I had the salmon sandwich and omg was it good! Perfectly fluffy bun, amazing seasoned cream cheese, absolutely perfectly cooked filet of fresh salmon with amazing leeks on top. The side salad was also great, I chose the creamy Greek dressing and was not disappointed. My mom had the white fish sandwich and she loved hers, said the fish was some of the best she'd had in many years. My husband had the chicken sandwich and absolutely loved it. What a great classic brunch spot! We came by here around noon on a Sunday and was able to easily snag a table for two. It's a seat yourself situation and a server will come by to take your orders. There's tons of parking around the building so no need to worry about that. I always crave potatoes for breakfast so I ordered the Boatyard Hash. It came with two eggs and bread. I upgraded my bread option to a corn muffin which was well worth the $1.50 extra. The hash with the eggs on top was so delicious! There was a decent amount of bacon in the hash which I appreciated. The food was a lot so I was able to take it home. I'd say the service was a bit slow for being past noon already but the server was very friendly. Not sure how many tables they had to keep track of so it's understandable. The prices are a bit high as well, especially for a local spot in a small town. I'd still recommend since there are a lot of breakfast options to pick from. read more

Such a strange experience. Several patrons who may be regulars received a more welcoming experience. For me I was invited to sit where I wanted them waited for awhile until I finally ask a staff passing by for silverware and then it seemed to surprise him when I ask for a water. It took another flagging down to get a menu and deliberate eye contact to get a staff person to take my order. I ordered the seafood omelet with corn bread muffin for about $22. Omelet was okay but seemed a bit overcooked. Biscuit was okay but just on the other side of dry. Not quite, but on the edge. If they like you or know you, service can be warm. For whatever reason I didn't qualify. But others did while I was here. I came in thinking I would bring my wife or friend here but after this experience I'm one and done. It wasn't terrible at all but it wasn't memorable either. Feintly disappointed. If you know the people, come by, if not skip it. Waitress with the pink hair ignored us for about 10 minutes, took our drink order and then only brought back water. If you're hungry and looking for something quick you will most likely die of starvation before your food arrives. What an absolute joke! Not only did we wait for an hour to be seated, the food took almost as long. The crazy thing is, there were almost as many employees as customer capacity, so I have no idea what was going on. Now the food...pretty sure they cooked each individual item separately and let us sit and get cold while they moved on to wandering around aimlessly and confused. Most of the order was cold and the $7.50 for 3 pieces of cold bacon was stupid. This place sucks period. read more
