The vibe seemed really off in this place. My friend and I, after years of good service and good food (while it was under former ownership/management), went to lunch there today and were really disappointed. My friend's soup was lukewarm so she asked if they could heat it up. The server returned with a meat thermometer/food thermometer sitting in the soup and said "that's the temperature". So it felt like she had grudgingly reheated it and brought it back with proof that it was hot enough. We felt very disapproved of. My friend tried again to eat it and, although it was good soup, it was still not hot. We decided to let it go and not go back again. This place was fantastic! I wanted to go to a seafood restaurant for my husband, but I'm a vegan. It's usually very difficult to find one that can accommodate me. Salish Grill far exceeded our expectations! We got a table in the outside deck. It was a sunny, overcast day with a nice breeze, so we thought the weather was perfect to eat outside. We had some good seagull and water watching. Our server was very attentive and knew her menu well. My husband got a cup of the clam chowder and said it was one of the best ones he's had. I got the fried Brussels sprouts, and could have ordered 2 more to have as my dinner! They were amazing! My husband got the Manila Clams & Penn Cove Mussels Linguine. He ate every bite and would have finished the sauce if he had a straw. I got the Greek Beet Pita Sandwich--SO GOOD! And the fries were the best I've ever had. They were so crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. We can't wait for our next road trip to Port Townsend so we can come back to Salish Grill. It is a winner! read more

The service was great, ambiance was okay but nothing to write home about. The portions were good for their reasonable pricing. 2 entrees + drinks and dessert was just about 100$ which is pretty good in my book. The clam chowder was great! Ask for bread on the side and they bring out an amazing focaccia slice with butter and seasonings. This is a restaurant you go to not find. It is at the very end of Port Townsend, the only advertisement is for the RV park nearby. Don't let that keep you from this delicious, cozy restaurant. Locals here abound which in my opinion speaks volumes about their food and service. I had the El Portal Burger-so good, perfectly cooked and the flavors worked. The French fries were hot, crisp and just the right amount of salt. My partner had had the fish and chips and he said the fish was hand cut. We were looking for a good spot to eat with 2 kids under 4 years old, while on a day trip to Port Townsend. This ended up being a great casual option as it was a busy Saturday. Adults food was exactly what was advertised and the kids had a great time. Lots of good kids options and gave us lots of broccoli for my son and fish. Came to Port Townsend for the day and was looking for some fresh seafood. We thought the marina would be a good bet. The reviews on Yelp were mixed, but we decided to give it a try anyway. It's located near an RV Park. The views are decent, but the RV's were blocking most of our window booth view from the bar area where we sat. They have outside seating available too, but it was pretty windy, so we chose to dine in. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. The staff was friendly and helpful. The menu has a nice variety of options. We decided on the Caesar salad with blackened salmon, cup of chowder, and the northwest cioppino. All the food was really good. The seafood tasted fresh. There was a perfect amount of clams in the chowder. The Caesar dressing was delicious and loved the shaved parmesan on top. Overall we enjoyed our food here. Would recommend. read more

We had an absolutely delightful evening at Salish Grill (formerly Doc's Marina Grill). The seafood stew was incredible--packed with Northwest salmon, cod, calamari, prawns, Manila clams, and Penn Cove mussels in a rich fennel‑tomato broth, served with warm garlic focaccia. There was so much seafood that I couldn't finish it all (and happily brought the rest home). My partner chose the cod fish&chips, featuring hand‑cut Northwest cod with a crisp golden Panko crust--classic and satisfying . Doc's has a nice location near the harbor and has outdoor seating to enjoy the view. The menu has a lot of seafood! I got the blackened wild salmon sandwich and really enjoyed this!! The piece of salmon was large, and felt really balanced with the bread and veggies. This came with a side of potato salad that I really liked as well! This could potentially be a great (5 star) spot but the management can't seem to hire staff (that's a potential red flag) so the waitstaff is extremely short staffed (like 1 or 2 wait staff for a large restaurant). The good: they were quick to take our order (but we came in just prior to 6pm crowd), food and drinks were good. The Bad: terrible service e.d., trying to get them to bus tables and get our check took me (and other tables) a bunch of arm waving. Most of the view is of the RV campground right in front with peek a boo water views, so if you like looking at RV's (no water, not trees, just folks sitting out in front of their RVs in the gravel, then this is your view hot spot! For the price, this was very unfortunate and my 3 star rating was generous. read more

Came in for a friends birthday party. We had reservations and we got seated pretty quickly. It was a Saturday so there were a lot of people waiting. They gave us a back room which was nice and accommodated our group of 8 well. A lot of the reviews here mention that the food takes a while to come out. Well I can confirm it does. We ordered as quickly as possible because of this and it took over an hour and 15 mins to get our food. We ordered a variety of items including the fish and chips, chowder, Burger, Caesar salad, and blackened salmon sandwich. All of the food was pretty decent but nothing really special. Fish and chips was bland and definitely needed the tartar sauce. Service was also not the best. Waiter was very awkward and had poor service skills. We ordered a couple of drinks and he said we should order other drinks because he had to go look in the back to see if they had it but that it was going to take him a while. Also I asked for a menu and he snatched it out of my wife's hands and gave it to me. Very strange. Overall, if I'm in port Townsend again I'd probably skip coming to Docs. read more

I had been to Doc's Marina Grill about 5 years prior, back when they had an incredible She-Crab soup and salmon tostada. Unfortunately they no longer have either dish on the menu as it is completely different now (the server said they changed chefs). This time, I tried Doc's house made clam chowder, the seafood curry, and the 3 piece fish and chips. All of the dishes were presented beautifully. The clam chowder was my favorite dish by far for flavor and content. One of the best clam chowders I've ever had without being too rich or creamy. They are very generous with the amount of clams they add and there was no sensation of gritty sand. The seafood curry was also filled with seafood varieties which I appreciated. It had a nice curry flavor, but unfortunately was lacking in salt. The fish and chips was the dish that I was most looking forward to, but unfortunately it was really lacking in flavor; I'm not sure if there was no salt at all in it, but it had virtually no taste (and I almost never add salt to food). I tried to add some of the malt vinegar that they brought as a pairing, which made a bit of a difference but not much. However, I did appreciate the crispy, thin breading and I enjoyed the tartar sauce that it came with! Overall, very nice atmosphere being right at the tip of Port Townsend next to the water (there were bald eagles on a perch outside!). I would definitely get the clam chowder again and servers are all very friendly. read more

This place is average. Not bad not good. The service was fine, the restaurant was outdated. My mom liked her sandwich but she's not a foodie. I did see her BLT was on a baguette and it had thick cut bacon. I got the mussels and clams. I could tell it had been frozen and the broth was oily. The focaccia it came with was over baked and I could tell it was machine made because the holes didn't look like fingers. Again, it's fine. 5/10 read more

Ate here on a quiet late Monday afternoon. We had the Wild Seafood Artichoke Dip and the Ahi Tuna Nicoise. The artichoke dip was amazingly rich and delicious. The servers were really attentive and the restaurant offers sun hats for those seated on the patio when it's lovely outside. The wait time was not too bad, the salmon was well seasoned; for some reason I expected the salmon to be a bit less cooked through because that's the way most seafood places make it, but this one was pretty solid and almost dry on the edges and maybe the very center was on the tender and fall apart soft flaky side. I also took home a half of the clam linguine my friend didn't finish and it was wonderful. Can't wait to come back here and try the cioppino and some Dungeness crab dishes as well. read more

Steak was cooked perfectly and amazingly tender considering it was New York which is usually tough. We had stopped going before they changed from Doc's to Salish Grill because quality was going down hill. Glad to see they have improved quality and we will definable be back. read more

One of the best selections of seafood in town, and with a more varied & interesting menu than in the restaurant's previous iteration (of Doc's Marina Cafe). We have eaten there twice since the changeover, once for dinner inside, and once for lunch out on the deck. We enjoyed our meal and the service both times. Wednesday evening dinner @ 5:30 pm, summer. We did not have a reservation and waited about 15 minutes for the 2 of us to be seated. The restaurant was full. We sat in the main room against the wall by 2 windows. The other options were outside, at the limited counter bar, and some other back room. The salmon was slightly too dry for both of our plates. The biggest issue was the noise. There are no sound buffers. For inside dining, it is one large room. There were 2 large loud groups near by, and then near the end of our meal, a screaming- really screaming 4 year old. The parents tolerated their daughter playing/ messing with the blinds; oh at least she was not screaming. I do not recommend this restaurant unless you are the family with the screaming 4 year old. This place is best if you want to sit outside and meet up with some boat folks. The view is mostly of camper vans. It feels like we were sitting in the middle of a parking lot. 2 dinners; one drink each= $160. Never again. A better option is Quench, near the ferry; or Sirens, a classic mid-town consistent option with a great water view. read more

So haven't been here since last year camping, and don't have a clue what happened. The Southern Style chicken sandwich was a sloppy mess (and didn't have bacon on it all) and the chicken was almost non-existent. Might as well call the clam chowder potato chowder. Lingustino and artichoke sandwich was the same per my wife I guess it wouldnt have been that bad if I didnt pay 27.00 for a sloppy sandwich and a small cup of potato soup. I think you have lost a customer, will go to Sirens or even McDonalds for a better chicken sandwich. read more

Really wanted to like this place but it went wrong at the front door. The hosts was abrupt and rude to my party. We weren't sure if we wanted to eat inside or outside and that seemed to irritate the hostess. Once we decided to eat outside she abrptly and condesendingly said, "is that you're final decision?" Did she thunk this was Deal or No Deal? I would have left right there but others were willing to give a second chance. The food was reheated Costco. They add 3% Service Charge.
