I have nothing positive to say about my meal here. The staff barely knows what they are serving, and the food was average at best - except the fish, which was so salty I could barely eat it. When I left the fish on my plate, the server didn't seem to care even though I said it was "too salty to finish" when he asked if we "enjoyed" our meal. We tried the bread pudding and it was so dry (isn't there supposed to be some kind of caramel) and the key lime pie seemed old. The filling was coming away from the crust. We were seated near where the staff congregates, but no one seemed to look over or care that we barely ate our food. And if you're going to make "classic cocktails" have a bartender/server who at least knows what bourbons they serve. read more

I used to come here often for their brunches to scarf down on their wonderful challah french toast or various omelettes chased with their excellent bloody mary bar. However, this place has been a gift of the gods during the pandemic times. They have opened up the parking area, increasing their patio area while also having the interior of their restaurant aired out by rolling up their huge windows. They have a fine menu of rotating items while maintaining classic items, such as the burger, and their hearth oven pizzas are always a solid choice. Arrived late evening on a weekend - and this place was still hopping with business and happy customers. It was a lovely late spring night, and we had our choice of seating - inside (where there is restaurant style seating or classic bar seating with large screen tv ), outside (under a canopy shelter to protect from sun or rain), or even a mix of both as the store front can literally open to the sidewalk during food weather (wow!). We toasted to this lovely ambience with a nice Cabernet. And then enjoyed the house salad with a light sherry vinaigrette (a generous pile of greens with a light dressing), the petit steak salad (well seasoned), and the mushroom cap filled with roasted veggies (warm variety of veggies with crispy goat cheese). Everything was absolutely delicious, and well-portioned. Already looking forward to the next visit, and trying more items on the extensive menu - with everything from apps and salads to entrees of meats and seafoods to pizzas and sandwiches... and yes, beer and wine and spirits - many of them locally sourced. Awesome brunch experience. A friend and I went to a late brunch at The Daily Dish after hearing that the restaurant won a RAMMY award. We came in on a Sunday around 2 pm. We both ordered the same thing - eggs any style (scrambled with cheese), which came with potatoes and bacon. We also ordered the french toast dish to split between the two of us, for good measure. I also ordered the soy pumpkin spice latte. Yum. Between the two of us, our meals cost $30 total. WINNING! To be fair, their pizza is very good. On the other hand, I got one of the angus beef burgers today & it was basically raw on the inside. The nice lady on the phone asked how I wanted my patty to be cooked to which I replied medium well. All the toppings were there & it looked good from the outside so I trusted the cooks. I was watching a show while eating, unaware of the raw meat. By the time I looked down, I realized the inside of the patty was red & pink. Long story short, I started vomiting about 1.5 hours later & haven't been able to stop since. (Give or take 3 hours) I am not one to leave negative reviews, but this could kill someone. All the staff are very nice & friendly, but whoever cooked this burger needs help. read more

I am writing from the midst of COVID-19 shutdown and stay at home orders. I was craving a good meal, and the Daily Dish was recommended by a neighbor (and I heard they did cocktail deliveries too!). My partner and I decided to give it a shot. We scheduled our order for delivery a few hours out, which was super helpful for us, and I imagine to the restaurant as well as most places are not used to operating in this take out/delivery mode. The food was delicious, fresh, and just what I was craving. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly. My man-of-few words partner had the shrimp fettuccine and also said it was delicious. I did order a Basil Moscow Mule, and it was damn good! I highly recommend this place. New go-to spot! read more

Two years ago a friend brought me here and I just recently went back over the weekend. I'm all about self-compassion but I'm stupid to 1) have not reviewed this place and 2) not come here every week. The Daily Dish is fine-dining-quality in a local neighborhood. Situated in a strip mall, with outdoor and indoor (well-ventilated) seating during the COVID-19 pandemic, the place fills up at dinner time with locals. And I'm not surprised! The first time I came, I ordered what I thought would be a simple salad. Nope! It had duck and was the best salad I've ever eaten. This time around, I was seeking comfort in the osso bucco (veal) over mashed potatoes and carrots ($29). I couldn't put the fork down. Literally. My friend ordered the flounder in a light broth with broccolini. The dishes were picturesque! I had to end with the tres leches dessert ($8) which was on the menu. My favorite dessert in the area. The slice was HUGE, but I ate it all. It was delicious. The service is kind, attentive, and reliable. The menu rotates weekly which is why I'm kicking myself for waiting so long I'm between visits... then again, the price isn't cheap. But wow. If you live in the area, stop in. You will find something to love and leave happy, even grateful you did. read more

Shrimp and Grits runny and too liquidity (and why are mushrooms there?). Mainly came here to say: WIPE AND WASH AND DRY YOUR TABLES BETWEEN CUSTOMERS. Ours was wet, sticky, grimy, gross. We had high hopes given the recommendation someone gave us. The pizza and wine (a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand) were excellent. Sadly, we were mostly disappointed. Firstly, we saw a mouse crawling up the wall, to which the managers responded "oh that little guy keeps coming back." Secondly, I ordered a medium hamburger, and instead got a medium well hamburger with a bun that was as crunchy as a saltine cracker. Lastly, though we were not expecting a freebie or discount, when we thought about it (after paying full price and tipping well- because service fine) - I realized we are just used to good service recovery (maybe comp one drink..?). read more

This restaurant brunch experience was a typical restaurant experience, just like this review. The french toast was excellent. The eggs Florentine Benedict was good too. Came here with some friends and enjoyed the brunch. Service was good. Though the servers were busy they were polite and attentive. The atmosphere is a typical restaurant, and price is what you would expect. The egg sandwich was not good, but everything else was good. Would come back here again. The Daily Dish is kind of cute and all, but it's basic. And not basic in terns of simple sophistication. It's basic in the way a chain restaurant is - the food tastes like something else you've had, somewhere else...in a generic sense. If you've been here before, their outdoor dining area probably will not phase you either way. I go to a few other places in this shopping area and have always walked by the parking lot tented space, admiring the folks eating outside on a sunny day. In fact, today, we ate outside. It was only then that I thought about the fact that I was dining in a parking lot. With cars parked around all around me. The white tent does not change that. As for the food we ordered, the Caesar Salad was okay, but it was without anchovies as described (I actually like anchovies) and the slice of pizza that I tried was pretty average as well. Overall, it's a good place to pop into if you're in the mood to eat outside (in a parking lot) or if the line is taking too long at Parkway Deli. (Which is actually why we ended up here.) This was an okay experience. I remember seeing redDog cafe on Yelp when I first started out and was enchanted by the name. And I heard it had great mac n cheese! So I tried it out a few times, but sadly each time I went it seemed to get worse. Well now redDog is gone and has risen from the ashes as... the Daily Dish. Yeah, the name is pretty darn unimaginative. And they haven't even changed the sign on top of the restaurant, oh well. It isn't all "out with the old, in with the new" though. Some of my favorite dishes from redDog are still around, including the famous mac n cheese and the pork ripieghi. This time I ordered the new salmon ripieghi, It's basically a salmon wrap, only wrapped in a thick bread rather than a tortilla. The salmon is covered in a somewhat lemony remoulade, and it tastes really really good. It's a bit expensive, but it does fill you up. Especially with the side of excellent mac n cheese. My dining partner had the challah french toast and she said that it was good but nothing out of this world. Service has improved greatly, but anything would have been an improvement over how redDog was in its dying days. The waiter was very friendly, but not very attentive. It took a lot of effort to get his attention. The wait between ordering and getting the food was adequate but nothing great or awful. I think this is definitely a good direction for this restaurant. It has great potential, it just needs to keep working on the bad things and keep doing the good things. And please consider lowering your prices, Daily Dish. Just by a dollar or two. read more

I've been frequenting an adjacent restaurant for my breakfast needs for years now and don't know why I haven't stopped before? I love the outdoor seating and the garage door concept and their "farm to fork" business model. Although I wanted to try the poached egg portobello (2 eggs over portobello mushrooms, crispy pancetta, breakfast potatoes in port wine sauce), I decided order on the safe side this first time around and tried the florentine eggs benedict. My dish did not disappoint and was a well made benedict. I also liked that their breakfast menu had innovative breakfast items that you wouldn't find at any other restaurants and will be returning to try more items. As for their service, I thought that the server was attentive, more so than most other restaurants. read more

Wow, I can't believe that I have overlooked updating this review...these guys have definitely worked out all the kinks and they are a great addition to the silver spring neighborhood. Their coffee options are probably the class of silver spring (especially now that mayorga is gone) and their brunch options are still solid. Their lunch/dinner service has definitely improved a lot. Their pizzas are good, especially the arugula and prosciutto pie. Their soups rotate daily and are reliably good. If you live in silver spring/takoma and have a car, this place is worth a visit. The ladies I brunched with already made a reservation so there was no need to wait for a table. Great parking (full lot) and you don't have to worry about paying for parking. It has been awhile since I have been there, and we were looking forward to have breakfast/brunch there Sunday. We got there at 10:15am. The place wasn't busy, so we expected to get ordered and served relatively quickly. That wasn't the case. Ordering took about 15 - 20 minutes, and we finally got our food about 40 minutes later. It took the some time however to get us what we ordered....after 2 failed attempts to get the orders correct, in total 40 minutes from when we placed our order. The wait staff blamed everything on the kitchen. As for the food, it was good, although my French toast we burnt around the sides. From talking with my daughter how lived within walking distance from the Daily Dish they no longer go there as much because of the issues they have been having. We came for lunch since I haven't been here before and it was close by. I like the lunch meals all under $10 concept. Farm to fork is clever and I like the idea of fresh ingredients. I got the steak sandwich and my mom got the omelet. The omelet was quite large, she got it with mushrooms (lots of em), onions (some), and bell peppers (not many inside). She really liked it. The sandwich was decent, not a lot of steak on it but for $10 you won't get 14oz of anything anymore. I did not find it overly exciting, nor was it bland. It was fine. I did really like the dressing on the side salad. The Arnold Palmer's are pretty good. Not very sweet, just the way I like them. read more

This was my first time dining here. It was pretty busy (of course, it's Sunday brunch), however, once we were seated, everything went smooth. The space is a little tight, but the meal made up for that I ordered the steak and eggs and my husband ordered the challah French toast (The works). I'm a stickler for plating, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the presentation. The steak was a bit small but that's okay for me, as I didn't expect something extravagant. Stumbled upon this place searching for brunch and at first we decided to go next door but walking to the restaurant, we saw they had a cute outdoor sitting and it was a gorgeous day so we changed our minds and decided to eat here instead. They have great brunch bloody Mary's if you guys are over 21 lol. Choices of liquor and make your own bloody mary which I actually prefer cause sometimes bartenders just dont make it spicy enough for me so it was nice to make my own to my taste lol. Food was delish. Came out in a proper time. We didn't have to wait or ask multiple times for refills or extra napkins etc. Def coming back again when the weather is nice again. read more

Saw one group with an adorable baby leave, just as we arrived; however, their mess was still not cleaned up by the time we left after dinner and dessert. Came here for breakfast after the Parkway Deli looked way more crowded than I wanted to deal with. We (1 adult, 1 toddler), were seated promptly and thankfully we're given a table by the large window which kept the toddler more corralled than a normal table. The food came out fast. I ordered the Poached Egg portobello which was excellent. The toddler had a mash up of a blueberry muffin (not very good, even the toddler wasn't impressed), scrambled eggs and a side of fruit. Could have been a bit more attentive with regard to water refills, the check, etc but otherwise very pleasant experience. read more
