We came here around sunset, and there were several chairs available. An amazing employee, Kendra and her colleague were in the kitchen. They were managing a huge line of orders and a lot of guest between just the two of them. Even then, they were extremely pleasant, took care to make the order just right, even with precise plating. When one of the items was not available, they quickly helped us get a replacement. The food was delicious with great portions. It was perfect for sharing.My only feedback to this restaurant/café would be that the management needs more staffing. We were staying at the hotel, which we have several times. We had a nice pier side room. We wanted to get the full ocean view and decided to enjoy happy hour at The Deck. What a mistake. We ordered mai tais. They were nothing but pineapple and orange juice. A proper mai tai has white rum in it with a float of dark rum. The lack of a splash of grenadine or orgeat syrup and a cherry was not a dealbreaker. But really? I inquired if it had any rum because there was no inkling of alcohol. I was told that's how I was told to make them. We should have just stayed on our deck and had our own drinks. And on another note: often coming or going to our room we smelled burned food! Yuck! Cold toast, hard scrambled eggs and no options for anything off of the menu. The breakfast burrito was was too busy with hard scrambled eggs, avocado, onions, black beans and bell peppers, which monopolized the flavor profile. No table service and the food was served in cardboard boxes. If you want a view with coffee or mimosas and no food, go here. Otherwise, head out to the many other breakfast and brunch joints in Pismo to get your heart breakfast on. What a great view to enjoy a glass of wine! We checked in early and our room wasn't ready. So we decided to hang out here. The service is fast! They keep the place so clean. The firepits warmed us up while sitting on comfortable outdoor furnitures. There's also board games and shuffle boards provided to keep us entertain. Steps to the beach after lounging was enjoyable. Great little location with comfortable seating and firepits and heaters. We were staying in the hotel and spent a couple hours here watching the sunset. The menu is limited, but food was very good! You order and they will bring it out when ready. Recommended! read more

We ordered a mai tai and I asked the girl i didn't see her put any dark rum, so she began to say mai tais Vary and the one she made is only white rum, pineapple, and orange juice which basically made the drink a juice. We returned the drink to get a margarita and when I took a sip my jaw locked because it was mostly sweet and sour. We asked why the drinks are disgusting and she said they were made with rice based liquor. When I first walked through, it seemed like a small cafe that was an afterthought placed in the hotel. The staff at the Deck were more than hospitable, friendly, and genuinely interested in our family's visit over 4th of July holiday. They had 4 beer taps (2 being generic FW craft beers) and a small menu. All the ingredients were fresh on the menu that we tried and brought out quickly after being ordered. The ACTUAL deck on the hotel front facing the breach was beautiful to see at sunset with the couches and firepits out front. The only gripe I had was that as it was a holiday week, people were posting up on the loungers at 8:30am and stayed for the entirety of day to reserve the seats for the evening fireworks. We hoped that we would be able to enjoy those sunny seats during the day but to no avail. We ended up sitting on the upper deck (accessible by elevator) and enjoying the view throughout the evening and eventually with the fireworks. TLDR: Great staff, fresh food, not the best outdoor seating on holiday weeks because of tourists. read more

We were guests at the hotel and felt this really made the experience for us. It's casual and features a limited menu, but we enjoyed both the sunrise and sunset menus. Where this really shines is the service and the beautiful atmosphere. Kari was awesome and really made us feel like welcomed guests. The deck is obviously beautiful with fire pits, comfy chairs and great views of the beach. Plus they have board games, shuffle board, table soccer, etc. which is a really nice touch. Came to visit with a group of friends. Spent 80+$ on drinks. Only one lady serving drinks. Every time I asked a question she asked me to Waite. . Then she took her fingers to shush me. Then she preceded to tell us she worked at a pharmacy and knew how to Handel customers. Especially when men came in to ask for the blue pill. she was the only person taking orders and making drinks. There were10 of us! Then we asked to play shuffle board. After being outside for 35 or 40 minutes which was 8:30pm. we were asked to be quiet. Curfew is 10 pm. A guest had complained we were to loud!! How do you play shuffle board with out getting excited?? We are locals and We were invited to come anytime. After tonight's incident. I will not be returning and the others in our group won't be either!!! read more
