    Sunday, July 23rd, 2023 - Firepit
    Elena N.

Date: Sunday, July 23rd, 2023 Time: around 5:45pm Party of: 3 - turned into 4 later What: Pre Dinner Drinks The hubby and I were staying at the Sandcastle Hotel. Figured we may as well check out the bar. Plus, he knows I like firepits. Luckily, we were able to grab the seats in front of the outdoor fireplace. I can't recall the beverages we had, but I'm pretty sure the hubs got a pour of some kind of whisky / scotch. I probably tried a cocktail and maybe did the same thing as him afterwards. Or even had a glass of bubbles. My girlfriend ended up grabbing a tea since we had been out all day drinking at wineries. Cute place to grab a drink or two and chill by the fire while enjoying a view of the beach. REVIEW #3436

The location, service and value are excellent. You'll want to tip more after you've left-we definitely did!

    The view

Stopped by for drinks since it was open to the public. The drinks are very expensive, but you're really paying for the view, which is incredible. Would come again just for that. Bartender mad a virgin margarita too lol

Stopped by for the fire pits! Both the interior and exterior are decorated nicely and are clean. We ended up getting a panini... which was essentially just a toasted sandwich. Taste was good but definitely not worth the $14. Portion was tiny. Worker had an airpod in but was super attentive. Seats were a bit wet but it was so early in the morning that it was understandable. At least the view was nice!

The deck had the perfect patio sitting with front row beach views...but where it came up short was the food. I was under the impression that their waffle would be freshly made, but when it was delivered to me it was in a to go box and it tasted cold. Almost as if they under microwaved the frozen waffle...

Stopped in for the nice view. The food was good. Nice atmosphere. I'll be back again one day!

We stayed at the Sandcastle Hotel and went to The Deck for dinner. The view is 5 stars. The cocktails are sugary and not super strong but i think they are meant to be fun drinks to be enjoyed looking at the waves by the water and not artisanal cocktails. We tried the tomato hummus- it was pretty delicious. The Caprese Flatbread was my favorite. The red velvet cake slice and the chips and salsa were okay as well. For being on the beach with a fire pit, the menu is pretty well priced. Gorgeous sunset from the table!

What can I say. You just can't beat the views. I stop by the deck on my last visit to Pismo Beach and it was a wonderful experience it was a nice place to just hang out enjoy a nice cuppa coffee and enjoy a beautiful sunset over Pismo Beach. The area was very well-kept furniture was clean I didn't notice any trash and the staff was very welcoming.

    $8.00 worth of bacon

Disappointed At first I was excited to see they had Starbucks coffee but artificial creamer was disgusting. Food options were limited and expensive. You had to order online. Bacon was cold, looked precooked. Burrito was lukewarm.

Right next to the beach. I turned on the fire pit.

I just came by for a beer. Rating is based on my overall experience from being there and how I felt when leaving. This place is right next to the beach and part of the Sandcastle Hotel. For a place so close to the beach, pricing was very fair ($7 for a pint). Beautiful beachfront bar with fire pits and comfortable seating Unsure if they have umbrellas if it gets too sunny hot. Staff was super friendly and very welcoming.

We walked to the entry way, less than a couple yards from the hostess booth and in clear view of her to be signaled over. In the meantime, another couple walked up requesting a table, instead of being instructed to return, they stood there and waited persistently to be seated. As I noticed a table clearing, I walked up to check with the hostess to ensure we would be getting that table. The other couple took that as their cue to insists that they get the table that was being cleared. Instead of seating us, the hostess gave the excuse that there was no reservations and no naming for tables, and instead gave the now open table to the extremely pushy couple demanding a table they were 2nd in line for. Had we not been adamantly instructed to wait and check in again in a couple minutes coupled with the fact that we were literally sitting at a table within view AND normal talking distance for her to say "we are ready", she caved in to the rude couple's persistence in being given that table. Catering to customers like that surely isn't the best choice and had others, like us, walk away. We did speak with the supervisor on shift. He did his best to make things right, but at this point the entire situation left us little appetite to dine here.

We stayed in a first-floor ocean view room since we had a service animal, and the room size was great. The grounds are well-kept, there's convenient beach access, and I loved that they have an adults-only hot tub--that was a nice touch. The person who checked us in was also very kind and welcoming, which set a great first impression. Unfortunately, things went downhill that night. Our upstairs neighbors were stomping loudly for hours. Around 8 PM, I called the front desk to let them know, and I was told they would reach out to the room--but nothing changed. By 10 PM, the noise was still going, so I called again. This time, instead of resolving the issue, I felt like we were being questioned. We were told the guests upstairs said they were already in bed, which didn't line up with what we were clearly hearing. The situation was frustrating enough that I tried to get their attention by tapping on the ceiling, which then got turned back on us as a complaint. When we asked about switching rooms, we were told the hotel was sold out and we'd have to wait until the next day--which I understand--but the way it was handled by the manager was disappointing. There was no apology, no empathy, and the tone came off dismissive and rude, which made the situation worse. I really wanted to love this place because the location and property are great, but customer service matters, especially when issues come up. Because of that experience, I'd think twice about staying here again.

Note that the parking lot, depending on which day you go, can fill up very quickly. The location is right off of the 101 and easy to find. We checked in and was seated within 10 minutes at a booth that overlooked the beautiful views of the Pismo Beach coast line. Our server, a younger black woman, who told us her nickname was 'TiTi', if I'm not mistaken, was wonderful. Her personality and hospitality was infectious and exceeded 5 stars. She brought us fresh hot corn and flour tortillas with a small cup of brown sugar butter and three different salsas to try. Everything was delicious. We ordered the surf and turf special which was a jumbo shrimp on top of a filet mignon that rested on mash potatoes and a creamy/savory white sauce. We also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. Everything was exceptionally good. My only takeaway would be that I found the food, especially the lobster Mac and cheese to be pretty salty. Definitely excited for my next visit.
