Lunch at Ventana Grill right when they opened and this place delivered. The views alone are worth the stop, but the food backed it up. Service was attentive from start to finish. Ordered the carne tacos and they were excellent -- great flavor, good sear on the meat, and everything tasted fresh. The spicy margarita was refreshing with just the right kick. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

Beautiful views, nice staff, good food. Came up for my birthday weekend and made reservations for 7 p.m., husband requested a window seat and about 25 min after out reservation time we were able to get one. The starter campechana De mariacos was good and was HUGE, but wish we would have got more then three little packs of crackers. It was really busy so didn't get to ask for more before the food came out. The three different salsas were also great! My husband had the molcajete and I had fish and chips, I was too full from the starter to eat the main, my husband too, but he ate it the next day and said it was amazing! I never got around to eating the fish but my husband said it was good too. The view was amazing, go there for this. More authentic Mexican food is abound in California.

Awesome restaurant wherein every table has a Fabulous view. The service is impeccable and liquor selection is wide. The handmade tortillas & sauces, the Calamari, Sea-bass, Mac & Cheese & Clam Chowder are all exceptional.

Super delicious Latin American food! The fresh tortillas as a starter were so good paired with the cinnamon butter and salsas. Also the molcajete was insanely flavorful!! It had a huge amount of protein and is def best shared between two people. I forgot our servers name but she was really helpful in providing recommendations and answering all of our questions. This restaurant has a very nice view of the beach so we were able to watch the sunset during our dinner. Would definitely recommend this place if you're in the pismo beach area!

This place is INCREDIBLE. The service, location, food, this place literally hits every box for me that a great resteraunt would have. My co worker has been hyping this place is for YEARS and a word trip brought us out to Pismo so I finally got to check it out. Located right of the 101 highway in Pismo, you will find the Ventura Grill nestled right along the Pacific Coast. Truly a beautiful and magical location. Our host and server were incredible friendly and so helpful. We got seated over looking the ocean and it made it right in time for sunset. We orderd some Cadillac margaritas and enjoyed that sunset. The margaritas were fresh and so good! Menu has a great variety. Defenitly had to try the Tinga Flautas and the Enchilada Suizas and WOW. THEY BOTH WERE INCREDIBLE. Full of flavor, huge portion, and cooked to perfection. Very aunthentic Mexican food and I appreciated that. Every penny spent was so worth it in my opinion. If your in the Pismo area and looking for a place, don't look any further. YOU MUST COME TRY THEM FOR LUNCH OR DINNER. I also heard they have an incredible brunch with all you can drink mimosas and Bloody Marys. Thank you Ventana grill for the memorable dinner. Next time I'm in Pismo I will most certainly be back. Till next time.

The food was really good. Every plate had food beautifully placed and the food looked so fresh. The views are amazing and interior is beautifully decorated. I am sure this place looks even better when it's sunny. Drinks were good but it was the food and the view that really stood out for us. You can not go wrong with any of the choices. The service was great and friendly. I would have loved ti be seated near the window but no seat has the bad view. Every seating is ocean facing. A great place for special occasions

This place was out of this world good! The ambiance, location, food, everything. We didn't have a reservation but were able to sit in the bar area upon arrival. The bartender/server was super nice and spaced everything out perfectly. We started with some of their homemade flour tortillas that they bring out with three salsas and a cinnamon honey butter. We also did chips and guacamole. All very good. The Pazole was excellent and the chile rellenos and chicken enchiladas were some of the best we have ever had. Just look at the pictures. The best part was this was 1/2 of the price of the nice seafood place we ate at the night before. This will be a definite stop in the future.

We came for lunch at 2pm, just after brunch ended and had to wait 20 minutes for a table because we couldn't make a lunch reservation. We were seated by the window and had a beautiful view of the ocean. The ambiance for the first hour was very loud, very busy, and although service was very friendly, it was a bit slow. The chips and guacamole was excellent! My seared ahi salad was good, but had too much dressing. My friend loved her ceviche--very flavorful, with 4 different dipping sauces. Parking is available in the lot onsite. I'll go back for lunch on a weekday when it's not so busy because the food is good.

This might be one of my favorite places in the central coast. Excellent service, perfect view for dining, and food was great. We went at lunch and it was not busy, we sat on one of the booth window seatings and it was great for my wife's birthday. The waiter Taylor made great recommendations and I was surprised how fast the calamari, birria tacos, and fish tacos came out. Our favorite was all 3. Fish tacos if you want something light and the birria tacos are probably the best in town. We will be back.

We go to Ventana Grill every time we visit the central coast. We love the service and the food. The fresh homemade tortillas, instead of bread is a treat. The ambience is not too noisy and has a beautiful view of the ocean. We were there for the sunset, which was beautiful. A special shout out to our server, Hailey. She provided great service with a smile and a great attitude. We will definitely be back when we visit the central coast again.

A huge draw of this restaurant is the view of the ocean and the birds flying by. We were lucky enough to snag a table by the window and it was just great. We dined in late afternoon so that's probably why we were able to get this great table. The food was fantastic. I had pasta con mariscos and I cannot recommend it enough. It was so tasty and it was a very large portion so I was able to take some home for the next day. Two days of eating pleasure! Honestly, I cannot remember what my dining companion had because I was so focused on how good my food was. Ha ha. The service was fine, not notable. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

We chose this place for dinner as it looked like a more upscale Mexican restaurant. Located on the cliffs, it has a great view of the ocean. Service was friendly and attentive, it was nice they gave us tortillas and salsas as an appetizer. I ordered the carne asada nachos as my entree, my wife got the molcajete surtido, and the kiddo got a cheeseburger. My carne asada nachos were huge, I didn't even finish them! They were tasty too and a good amount of meat. The molcajete surtido was likewise huge and tasty! A very unique dish with several different kinds of meat. Next time we'll split that and it will be great! A little on the pricier side (especially if you are thinking about regular Mexican food) but the portions are good and it has a great view and atmosphere.

We loved this place so much we went twice during our trip to Pismo, once was even to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food is incredibly authentic, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Pair that with the beautiful views and it's hard to beat. Our favorites are the tinga flautas. Amazing food, great atmosphere, and a spot we'll always come back to when we're in the area. Highly recommend!

    Do they allow dogs?

Not in the dining room, no. There is an outdoor area surrounding the restaurant, but they do not serve food out there. If you wanted to grab drinks from the bar and sit outside with your pup that is allowed.

Do they have steak? Like ribeye or mignon? Thank you.

Not a the regular menu. They do have daily specials nor on the menu and those could have a steak. They had a surf and turf with a filet mignon when I went.

    All You Can Eat brunch?

    It's not a buffet restaurant.

Is Ventana Grill attached to Shore Cliff Restaurant?

    No it is not.

    Do I need a. Reservation?

Depending on the time you go or the size of your group a reservation would help, however my husband and I have gone without a reservation and have been seated pretty quickly.

    It is dog friendly?

    No.

    Is there outdoor seating available?

To the best of my knowledge there is no outdoor seating. The windows facing the ocean are at the edge of the cliff.

Is the Sunday brunch back up and running? If not, is there any plan to open in the future? Thanks.

    call 'em

    Gluten free menu?

    Yes many options!

Do they have outdoor dining for lunch and are dogs allowed?

No outdoor dining, just great views. I don't believe dogs are allowed either.

Are you still offering bottomless mimosas?

    no for the moment

Does anyone know if they are still doing their sunday brunch special?

I had the the same question and wrote an email 9/1/2022... got answered quickly with a NO, not serving the Sunday Brunch any longer.

    Do you accept reservations?

They only accept a certain amount of reservations a day

Is this place still open? I've called 17 times during posted hours but it just rings indefinitely.

    Yes it's open!

    Is there a dress code?

    Casual dressing

    Is there a kid's menu?

Yes a small selection but yes

Do they have gluten free options?

Not many, but they do have a few salads.

Is Mimosas included in the Sunday brunch price?

A friendly greeting upon arrival. We had made a reservation for our party of five for a Tuesday night dinner of friends. It was a warm evening and the patio doors were open. At about 80 degrees outside, the interior was a little warm; we should have moved to the cute side patio. The menu is Latin fusion, described to us by our server as dishes from across Mexico, South America, and other parts of Central America. The menu has many choices from appetizers, chicken, pork, seafood, and vegetarian + vegan sections. There's also a full page of cocktails ($11), $6 beer (bottled), and wine. The Black Cadillac Margarita stood out for its black color (from powdered charcoal, which gave it an earthy, smoky note) and silver tequila. The other margaritas were reposado tequila based and flavored with the accordant flavored syrup. The Cure cocktail was also a standout, with house-infused watermelon tequila ($11). Wines by the glass or bottle (glasses were $12 for whites or rose, $11 for reds). Entrees came with a small, very fresh side salad or soup (last night's soup was a creamy corn and jalapeño, which was exquisite). Many of the menu items are titled with a type of liquor (for example, Jim Beam Enchiladas, Single Malt Seafood Tacos), which is a thematic choice and does not indicate inclusion of said liquor in the recipe. Everyone was happy with their entrees, which had an appetizing presentation and generous portion. Our server let us know that everything on menu was gluten free except for the flour tortillas (but there were gluten-free corn tortillas as well). I was very happy with my "Dom Perignon Chile Relleno" - a large poblano chile stuffed with shrimp and corn kernels in a cheesy sauce), battered in cornmeal and deep fried, with chopped fresh veggies, crumbled queso fresco, and a chipotle sauce (I asked for that on the side; it was delicious), $24.95. It comes on a bed of white rice or papas chorizo (roasted, mashed potato with chorizo crumbles - yay for that!). The Asombroso Sopas were also a hit (ordered with carne asada, you also had the choice of chicken or al pastor, $22.95). The vegan potato tacos (3 tacos, $18.95) were tossed in a cilantro sauce. The El Charro pork enchiladas came with beans and white rice and were a generous portion ($19.95). The service was 5/5 attentive, competent, and friendly. We lingered after paying the bill as no one was waiting for a table and our server continued to check on us and welcomed the lingering - true Latin style! I plan to return to try the sopas and take The Cure watermelon-infused tequila cocktail with Tajin rim) before the summer is through!

Unassuming from the outside, this hidden gem brings a blend of Latino cultures to the literal table. We've been here before and loved it, but they've since elevated their menu and added many more items. The wine list is overflowing with small-batch, boutique local wines--either Latino-owned or featuring Spanish varietals. I started with a glass of Victor Hugo Merlot, which was fantastic, but let me tell you about the Caelesta Cab/Mourvèdre. This sexxy red (shoutout to my girl Sexxy Red) was velvety, incredibly well-balanced, and perfectly complemented the paella fideuà. Junction serves fideo, or fideuà, sourced from Etto Pasta, and it's always nostalgic for me. This comforting yet stylish dish hugged me like it hadn't seen me in years. I teared up (yeah, I did...what about it?) and actually paused to consider: do I want to eat this whole dish in one sitting? Should I reconsider post-date-night plans because I might be too full? Nah--bring it on. The calories can be worked off later. The seafood paella fideuà got better with every bite. The shrimp, squid, rockfish, and mussels were cooked to perfection. I found myself clutching my linen napkin, wishing the dish would never end, hoping that my wife wouldn't notice that I'm about to make this paella my bitch, wishing I could endorse this paella to run for president and run more than two terms! Splooosh! The food and wine are the kind you'd tell your grandkids about around a campfire--meals that inspire the next generation of food lovers. But the staff were just as much the stars of the show. The space is on the smaller side but thoughtfully laid out. They were slammed--in the best way. It's the kind of place where you know whatever you order will be great, yet you worry service might slip with only two servers and no hostess. Both my wife and I have worked in service, so we appreciate a well-oiled machine--and I'm not talking about myself here. I'm talking about the legends who ran the floor that night. Too often, diners overlook the staff or don't fully understand the intensity of a Friday night rush. Major kudos to the chef and kitchen team, but may the odds forever be in favor of the front-of-house crew for flawlessly navigating the chaos. Luke Estrella was definitely getting his steps in, along with his teammate, but they always made time to pour wine, share insights, and connect with guests--all while smiling and putting out fires left and right. Bravo. 4 stars cause everyone could use room to grow.
