    Prime rib

We drove past this restaurant on our wine tasting adventures and if it weren't for the sign out front, we would've never known it was there! It looks like a little house with a small parking lot in front. We decided to stop by later on for dinner and we were so glad we did. They don't take reservations so on a Saturday evening, we got there around 4:30 pm and the place was still pretty empty. We were seated and approached very quickly by our very friendly server. She gave us menus, told us the specials and took our drink order. They have a full bar here. I ordered the breaded mushroom app and hubby ordered mozzarella sticks. It was prime rib night so I HAD to order that! The mushrooms were perfectly breaded and came with cocktail sauce, which seemed weird to me but the flavors actually worked well together! The mushrooms were a nice size too. Then the prime rib came out and OMG. It was huge! About an inch and a half thick and cooked perfectly as I ordered (medium rare). I was in heaven. My husband loved his chicken parm -- he was full about 3/4 of the way through it but loved it so much he finished it!! This is a great find and I definitely recommend a stop.

We ordered the chicken Cordon Bleu bites as an appetizer, the prime rib special, and chicken parm.

After a not so great experience at Sapalta, we were a bit rushed to find a place for dinner on a Saturday night, which is no easy feat on a summer night. Considering the yelp reviews missed the mark with Sapalta, we figured we'd take a chance on Blue Pointe Grille and as soon as we walked in, we knew we had made the right decision. Firstly the wait staff were so kind and attentive. I wish I knew the name of our waitress, but right away she made us feel welcomed. She started us off with a bread basket and we had a couple of cocktails. For an appetizer we tried the fried calamari, mainly because I'm a sucker for banana peppers (or cherry peppers) with calamari. The calamari came with a pepperoncini and caper lemon aioli, which it didn't need but it was a nice twist considering most places will serve calamari with marinara. For dinner we split a bottle of wine, and opted for their catfish special and their chargrilled frenched pork chop. I was advised that the pork chop was a large cut of meat and would take some time to cook through which was fine because we had opted to sit outside and were delighted to watch the sunset. The entrees were excellent, and came out quicker than we expected. Overall, we had a great experience. If you have the chance to sit out on their patio, I definitely recommend it as you'll get beautiful views of Seneca Lake, and the boats coming into dock. Afterwards, I recommend taking a stroll down the pier to take in the sights. I'm glad we ignored the yelp reviews and opted to dine at Blue Pointe Grille.

I ponder the menu, it's a decent sized menu, with a good amount of items I decided to go for my old standby, the poutine. I put in my order, and he brings it back quick. It was a decent portion. The fries were well seasoned, crispy on the outside, yet tender on the inside. They were very good. The gravy. Was just the right texture. Not too thin, and not too thick. It was a good quality gravy. It had a deep rich flavor. The one problem, is that there was a very small amount of the cheese curds. They were basically not even the full cheese curds, just little chunks here and there. What cheese curd I got was good, there just was hardly any of it. Let's face it. Poutine without cheese curds is just "gravy fries." Even though there was hardly any of the cheese, curds, overall, it was still a good meal. I left stuffed. Poutine and a soda, the price was reasonable. I would like to try some of the other items on the menu. Thanks.
