Ambiance, UH decor ! Go Coogs!

The way you want a university bar stop to feel. Friendly, just enough, exceptional food, drink choices to make the most finicky happy, and TV's broadcasting ALL the events live! First time here, located across from the Rec, and a short walk to all the events and campus activities. University of Houston Campus gem. Go Coogs!!!

Stopped in for a drink to wait for my son on campus who needed a ride since he recently had surgery. Nice energy and fast service. Prices were really good since they cater to college students. My drink had a heavy pour and was only $8! They have various daily specials. Hasn't changed much since I was a student 30 years ago. Definitely worth a stop if you are by campus.

The Den, a favorite bar/hangout spot for UH Coogs and guests for years! This special place is where to go for good drinks and eats! Located across from the Campus Rec Center and adjacent to the UH Welcome Center, this quaint establishment packs a punch with it's plentiful choices of tasty American-style food and draft beer, and a cool place to chill in between classes, before or after a game, or during the lunch hour. Decked out in all things UH, you feel the Coog energy as soon as you step inside. There's ample seating at the bar, a table or booth, or even outside in the patio areas - especially when it's not buzzing with students. My only wish is that I wish this place were bigger. Seating may be a challenge if coming with lots of people and trying to sit together, so keep that in mind and plan accordingly. Having been aware of this place for years, I never took the time to actually eat here until now. On the recommendation of a colleague I had to try it! I went with the 0-4-4 sandwich (with a choice of crispy or grilled) and it did not disappoint. This sandwich was so good! Nestled in between a warm, soft sourdough hoagie roll are chicken tenders drenched in a tangy buffalo sauce, provolone cheese, and their yummy housemade ranch! And to top it off, a side of their famous (thin steak cut-style) French fries that are seasoned just right with a light crisp on the outside, soft and potato-ey inside. Omg! I see why folks like them so much- my tastebuds were dancing and my belly was very happy! At just a little over $12 for this meal, you get a hearty portion of food and it's filling! It's a nice portion size whether for lunch, or dinner. I can't wait to try their other menu options, but the 0-4-4 was a great starting point. The Den has found a repeat customer for sure! I can't wait to come back!

The wait staff were really nice and friendly! The nachos were delicious and the drinks were good. Everything was reasonably priced. Nice to just come grab a bite close to campus.

Sup Yelpers!!! Came to watch the Saints play.. I didn't realize this place was on the the U of H campus. Lucky students. The vibe was cool, Austin is a sweetheart and was very attentive. They have specials everyday of the week so check out their website.. this place is open to the regular public and I think it's missed because there are so many other bars in the area. However if you want to come to a place Downtown that's reasonably priced and not full or harasser's, come here. Drinks are good and food is good too. I will be back. Hopefully I can convince them to put the sound on for my Saints game over the Texans HeHe

Food was not bad, the service was ok. But the ambiance was the coolest. We were tired after moving in our kid to school and needed food and drinks. Will come again

It's a travesty this place isn't rated 5 stars. Not only is this the best bar on campus, it might be the best bar in Houston.

The indoor and outdoor bar areas are perfect for whatever vibe you're in. And the huge screens everywhere made it perfect to catch a game. It's a true neighborhood gem that keeps it local.

She wasn't stumbling, being disruptive, causing problems, or showing any obvious signs of being overly intoxicated. What made the situation even more frustrating was that there were other groups around us being significantly louder, yet we were the ones singled out. We were given no clear explanation for why she was being removed other than the claim that she was intoxicated. The whole situation felt unfair and left us feeling like we were being singled out or discriminated against for no apparent reason. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this place. Be aware that you could be asked to leave even when you're behaving appropriately and not causing any problems.

The queso had ground beef, pcs of avocado and pico --soo good I had a on the rocks margarita, didn't like the taste at all I got the "Marvin Zindler" cheeseburger; "EYE WITNESS NEWS!" (what he always used to say before his news cast began-Houston KTRK TV) RIP Marvin This burger had bacon, cheddar fried onion and jalapeño pickle chutney--medium rare. My friend had the "Bodacious" hamburger sliders, came with two. Hers had bbq sauce, a whole grilled jalapeño, smoked jalapeño mayo, bacon, crispy onion and American cheese Their beef is sourced from cattle from 44 farms in Cameron TX and when I say, those burgers were juicy and delish...THEY WERE The beef was so flavorful. We didn't see onion rings on the menu so that's why we got the queso, but as we were eating other patrons got some. I was so disappointed cuz, I wanted some. The bartender said they're not on the menu because of the fryer ...they have to do something (I can't recall) in order to make them. Oh well...EVERYTHING we ate was fantastic. The regular margarita that I got (no salt on the rocks) just was tart not smooth so I don't know if its the mix or the tequila (or both) Bartender female black hair and bartender white male VERY sweet and down to earth Support local business Support local farmers

They have fun burger options, however we were quite disappointed in the quality and lack of flavor. Marvin Zindler: 6.8/10 The meat was dry and overcooked so when you bite into it, it crumbles. It needed more sauce. Inspector Clouseau: 5/10 The burger was sitting in French onion sauce which made the bun soggy. Very messy and hard to eat with your hands, had to end up eating with a knife and fork. We ordered side of fries with each burger, and opted to upgrade one to chili cheese fries. When the food was brought out, we had a side fries and a whole, large order of the Cheese Fries Surprise. However we saw a customer behind us with a small order of the cheese fries surprise. I just felt our server should have clarified the size with us. So be aware when "upgrading" your side fries. Overall, this burger joint was a let down and not for us.

I'm impressed !…read more Came here to watch a WC game on a Sunday. We arrived an hour before the start. The seating assignment is strange. Despite being quite empty at that time, we had to be on a waitlist system for about 20 min. Maybe people signed up for that time slot, unclear ? The tables do move. We were originally assigned right under the TVs, which defeated our purpose of watching the game. We moved our table back, enough to not pinch our neck. It's a great location for game watching. TVs are set all throughout the bar. Bonus if there are two or more sport events. That evening, we could watch a WC game and a UFC fight at the same time. What surprised me was the quality of the food. The wings were excellent, the burger came out quickly as well. The fries could be crispier. The tots were good. Wish they offered sweet potato fries. Overall pricing is a bit on the higher side. So watch your alcohol consumption, lol! Now, it is downtown so parking isn't the best. Use a rideshare. I can be convinced to go back for their wings. They were really delicious !

Don't know why there wasn't one tv showing any baseball game, including the Astros game on at the same time.) The bar is fine; the seats not the most comfortable; the food is overpriced bland Sysco, with the atmosphere too loud for the friendly waitstaff to hear you. I had a salmon Caesar, which was fine, but $31 plus a hidden 4% service charge for not a lot of lettuce, dressing, and four croutons. An app (chips and bland dip, skimped on the chips) and two entrees, a 16 oz beer and two mixed drinks was $145 with tax and tip. Agonizing to pay that much for a mid experience, especially with the other costs in time and money. Guaranteeing seats for the game without showing up ages in advance cost $40/seat and we didn't get the advertised VIP World Cup goody-bag package we were promised. Worst part of the night was getting out. 45 minutes stuck in the $10 Greenstreet parking garage because the scanners weren't working, but it's that or $40 of Ubers. So ~$250 for a less-than-mid evening that wasn't especially relaxing.
