I'm impressed ! Came here to watch a WC game on a Sunday. We arrived an hour before the start. The seating assignment is strange. Despite being quite empty at that time, we had to be on a waitlist system for about 20 min. Maybe people signed up for that time slot, unclear ? The tables do move. We were originally assigned right under the TVs, which defeated our purpose of watching the game. We moved our table back, enough to not pinch our neck. It's a great location for game watching. TVs are set all throughout the bar. Bonus if there are two or more sport events. That evening, we could watch a WC game and a UFC fight at the same time. What surprised me was the quality of the food. The wings were excellent, the burger came out quickly as well. The fries could be crispier. The tots were good. Wish they offered sweet potato fries. Downtown sports bar with big TVs. (I was watching a bank of six TVs: four showing the same World Cup game; one with a rotating series of ads; one with US Open reruns. Don't know why there wasn't one tv showing any baseball game, including the Astros game on at the same time.) The bar is fine; the seats not the most comfortable; the food is overpriced bland Sysco, with the atmosphere too loud for the friendly waitstaff to hear you. I had a salmon Caesar, which was fine, but $31 plus a hidden 4% service charge for not a lot of lettuce, dressing, and four croutons. An app (chips and bland dip, skimped on the chips) and two entrees, a 16 oz beer and two mixed drinks was $145 with tax and tip. Agonizing to pay that much for a mid experience, especially with the other costs in time and money. Guaranteeing seats for the game without showing up ages in advance cost $40/seat and we didn't get the advertised VIP World Cup goody-bag package we were promised. Worst part of the night was getting out. 45 minutes stuck in the $10 Greenstreet parking garage because the scanners weren't working, but it's that or $40 of Ubers. While down in Texas for a conference, a friend and I were looking for a sports bar near GRB. This place had glowing reviews, so we decided to check it out. We absolutely loved it. As a Wisconsinite, I had to put the cheese curds to the best. For non-Wisconsin curds, they were solid. The ranch was amazing too. I also tried the three cheese cavatappi pasta bake. It was so cheesy and gooey. I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for non-traditional bar food. My friend had the chicken tenders and said they were good. So I jumped the gun. I had bought a ticket for the Tall Tour and literally all week I was off on what day it was. I pulled up and the crowd seemed rather short so I asked the staff hey what's going on with the event? Come to find out I'm a day early. I noticed they had my fav Campari so I switched to it. Campari equal parts lemon juice on the rocks with orange slice. Which please keep in mind this is an Aperitif and not expensive liquor. Originally I wasn't going to eat but the game was good I'm on round 3 and I notice in the menu book if you download the Wise app you get a free appetizer. So I'm like bet! A win is a win. I order steak nachos. They were cool nothing special. A lot of chips, queso mainly at the bottom under everything. They got the job done and paired with the game and my drink. I inform the waitress I want to checkout and also that I had downloaded the app. She tells me oh that's not included. I'm like well it doesn't differentiate on the advertisement so please grab a manager so we can make it right. She proceeded to bring me the handheld with the final cost. It's around $90. I'm like come on now. She had walked off to assist other guests and I asked the Barback to request a printed receipt for me to review. Sure enough the food is still on there and not once have I spoken with management. So I ask again. Manager comes over explains it's some new corporate special and I tell her I understand but again it didn't specify and I politely suggest they make it right. Which she does. All is well in the universe. I return the next day for the event. It's paccccccccked so getting drinks gonna take a minute which is understandable. They got what I want so I get the Campari. Now when the young lady brings me my ticket the cost of my drink the previous day is totally different than today. I know yall gonna say well maybe it's a discount. Nope, I checked with staff when I entered and asked if there were any specials for the group. The young lady said no. So here's my point as a former bar manager etc etc. Consistency is important. Tom's Watch Bar missed the mark for me. While the inside is spacious with tons of TVs, tables, and bar seating, the drink service just did not hit. Unfortunately they intentionally do not offer their daily weekday happy hour on home Astros and Rockets game days, and when there are big events at the neighboring entertainment venues, namely Toyota Center and House of Blues. These are the days that customers would be most likely to visit. Instead of the $5 well drinks and bar bites options that we had hoped for, our bill was $45 for one well drink, a well tequila ranch water, and basket of fried pickles. There are also no prices listed on any of their menus. No thank you. They also add an automatic 4% service fee on all tabs "to cover raising operational costs" and state that "this fee is not a tip". "Upscale" sports bar. TONS of TVs and I can imagine a full house when a Seattle team is playing. The service was okay sitting at the bar. There were only 2-3 working at the time and I felt like they may have needed help as the night got busier. The cheese curds were light and fluffy (not pictured). The cornbread pancake was a bit dry until you slather butter all over it and the chicken was extra crispy but not in a good way. The drinks were expensive. Upon entrancing this sports bar on a Saturday college game day, I immediately heard the dj and was impressed with the many television screens for watching college football. The hostess asked if we wanted to watch a particular game, and we were seated near a television for that game. I enjoyed myself here. We came because my boyfriend wanted to watch college football and he wanted to try somewhere new. We were both pleased with the experience. Definitely get the chicken and cornbread pancake. It's as good as it sounds. It was soft, sweet, and very flavorful. The service was also really good. We had two servers because one was training and they were both friendly, attentive, and approachable. It had a really nice ambiance too for a sports bar. There were plenty of people there watching games and a watch party for the university of Tennessee game came while we were there and we were asked if we wanted to sign up for their raffle lmao. Because Tom's is a good option before or after an event at the Toyota Center. --- --- --- With my Cavaliers coming into town, a big group of my family bought tickets to the game and we decided to meet up here beforehand. I looked at the menu ahead of time and knew I would absolutely be ordering the Prime Rib Dip. That item is basically my love language, so I barely even glanced at the rest of the menu, once I saw that. It didn't quite match my expectations - J. Alexander's is still the gold standard for me. But the fries were enjoyable and the service was excellent. I will say, I was surprised that the beer list was so minimal at a place like this, but I did enjoy a Mango Cart. There are a million TV's here, so it's a great place to watch sports - even completely obscure sports like face slapping (seriously) airs on one of the TV's in the corner. And it's about a 5 minute walk to the Toyota Center, which was the key for us. I'd happily come back here again for a pregame meal again in the future. read more

Located downtown right next to House of Blues and across the street from Reserve 101 and Dirt Bar, Tom's Watch Bar is a sports bar. Ambiance (3.5/5): As a big sports fan, I'm always looking for spots where I can catch some games. Especially those that have good food. More on that later. What I like about Tom's is that it's a large bar with lots of TVs. What I don't like is that they don't have parking. Since it's downtown, street parking is your best bet. I have heard that they validate in the parking adjacent to them, but I don't know all of the details. Service (3/5): It's a bit of a hit or a miss here. I've sat both at the bar and at a table for waiter service. I'd say average at best, overall. Service can be slow regardless of whether they're packed or not. Drinks (3/5): Part of what I love in a sports bar is good prices and specials. Since games take hours, you don't want to break the bank while you're there. I haven't been impressed with Tom's prices on their cocktails (a standard and unimaginative menu) or the selection of their beer menu. Food (N/A): Outside of a Yelp Elite event (which isn't your typical experience), I have been on a liquid diet while at Tom's. So I cant touch on the food but know that they have a large menu. Tom's has a lot of potential but execution is lacking. One of the highlights though is pre-gaming here before an Astros game. They have drink specials (though somewhat deceiving), they will validate your parking in the adjacent garage, and they have a complimentary shuttle to take you to and from the game. The interior was clean and there were only a few tables of guests, but our server was attending to all of the tables and missed us a few times. I got the potstickers and they were very floppy (no crisp bottom), room temperature (not hot), and just tasted like soy sauce (you can see that they're doused in sauce). Excellent service from host interaction to being seated. It always seems packed but after visiting 4/5 times even when it seems packed an intimidating theres usually a table available somewhere. The servers are super well trained and knowledgeable about all the cocktail and menu items. I especially love this place because they have a lot of seafood based options mixed into a bar menu - maybe 3 ahi tuna based items and 1 or 2 lobster focused items. I always get the poke bowl. The poke (ahi) is always super fresh. The rice is usually good, one time it was really dry. Usually good. The avocado is almost always perfect. TL;DR: Food 3/5, Service 4/5, Atmosphere 5/5 I've been to Tom's twice. The first was for a Yelp event which was so much fun. The second was this past Saturday to watch the Texan's playoff game. Tom's is located in the Greenstreet Complex in the space formerly occupied by Andalucia. If you can't find street parking, you can park in the Greenstreet garage. It's $5 on weekends and after 4 pm on weekdays. They have a good amount of indoor seating as well as a nice patio out front. My friends arrived 1.5 hours before the game and managed to grab the last table indoors. They do have heaters on the patio if you're not able to get a seat inside. If you want to sit inside for a popular game, then plan accordingly. The biggest positive is the atmosphere. It's a sports lover's dream. The staff did a great job of amping up the energy. Dan (the GM) was the emcee throughout the game. They had giveaways for free swag and drinks and also handed out free shots. Service was pretty good. Our server Trey was attentive and was good about periodically checking on us. On the other hand, the quality of the food and drinks are inconsistent. Some items were good while other items left a lot to be desired. I understand it's bar food, but if it's supposed to be upscale, then some of the food and drinks could use some improvement. Drinks: Espresso Martini - Disappointing. It had a weird tart after taste that I didn't enjoy and it didn't come with espresso beans. Gin and Juice - I've had this before and it was sweeter than I remembered it being. I didn't love it this time around. Game Changer (Free shot) - It tasted like cough syrup. I don't know what was in it and the server that brought it to us didn't seem to know either. I'm glad it was free. Food: Chicken Nachos - These were good and flavorful, but I wish they would have been served hot. The temp was lukewarm. Fried Pickles - Basic, but good. The batter had a nice texture and I liked the ranch dressing. Fish Tacos - Bleh. The fish tasted like boxed fried fish that you can find at any grocery store. The shape of the fish filet didn't really fit into the mini tortilla so it was just awkward to eat. I suspect this is the same fish that they use for the fish and chips. The chipotle aioli that came with it was okay. Apparently there was some sort of cilantro crema on the tacos, but I couldn't taste it. I recall seeing a minimal amount of cilantro on it, but it wasn't enough to enhance the flavor. It also came with chips and queso. The queso was alright, but I liked it better than the chipotle aioli. They have so many screens and the main screen at the bar is massive! You can also check on their website to see what games/matches/fights they're going to be showing for the week. Although some of the food didn't really stand out, the atmosphere certainly makes up for it. Came here with a group of Yelpers + other friends for the Texans post-season divisional game. Spoiler, they lost. : ( Place was full, glad my friends had secured a table, so when I arrived, it was no biggie. There were lots of TX fans there to enjoy the game on the huge tv walls. Service - was fair. Trey, our server, got busier and busier as the game went on. He tried his best to keep up with all his tables. He was gracious and was very busy. Drink- I had the 16oz beer Mango Cart. That was tasty, just light enough, but had some body and sweet notes. Food- the kind gentleman Yelper Justin T. bought nachos for our table. We all tore those up. For my entree, I was torn between the burger, and I was curious about the prime rib sandwich. Both comes with fries. Server Trey said he prefers the prime rib, so I went with that. Fries were seasoned nice. The prime rib sandwich, I wish it was more cheesy as the middle meat got a little dry and one note. The cheese to meat ratio was off for me. I didn't anticipate the prime rib to be so pink, but it was probably to keep it tender? It does come with a dipping sauce, to keep it drippy. This didn't add much to flavor wise. It's a large, fairly high-priced sandwich, I wanted it to be tastier. But you may love it, try it out! Parking- they have valet. But there's street parking too, it's metered, which I found out an hour or two in. So I ran out to pay the meter. Luckily, I had no ticket, phew!! The best bite of the night was one of the fried pickles I had that had been ordered for the table. Me and my friend came by here after the UH game to hang out. Downtown Houston nightlife is somewhat lacking on the weekdays but it was pretty lively here in the house of blues plaza. There were plenty of seatings and screens for every sports available ever which way you look. Our waitress was nice, patient and explained to us the varies of delight there is to offer. I ordered the chicken strips with tator tots. It did took alil while to come out, but they were pretty well seasoned and fried. Crispy outside and soft center. Portion sizes were excellent. What an incredible experience! First Tom is such an awesome host - the atmosphere is perfect for a sports bar. When I did go they had a little bit of everything going on some basketball, some UFC, and even some football. This would be an amazing place for an NFL sunday funday for sure!
