The food was worth it... in fact the food was really good. But getting the feeling that you are an intrusion in a locals favorite dive is never a good feeling. There was a sign out front that said "Please wait to be seated", the the hostess kind of looked up at us and said "There are plenty of places for you to sit..." o...k.... We enjoyed this place, the area, the environment, the staff and the food was good. Small place but very comfortable. We both got the eggarito. According to another review, we requested meat in it (+1.99 for each choice) to add some needed flavor. I ordered mine with ham, home fries on the side. My bf requested ham and sausage with hash browns. On mine, it tasted great at first bite. As I got thru it a bit it still needed a tad bit more flavor so I requested salsa. Obviously pace salsa but that's my favorite so I'm good with it. My bf realllly enjoyed his. Was gone in no time. When he took a bite of what I left on my plate he mentioned the difference was night and day and left the rest stating it was indeed bland. He definitely suggest adding sausage. Regarding the home fries, I did not like them at all. The seasoning was not to my liking and I really prefer crispy, not soft. To each their own. I also requested a side of biscuit after learning they were homemade. Not bad. Lastly, it was a bit pricey for breakfast. 2 eggaritos, 1 coffee, 1 orange juice and the biscuit was 30 bucks and change. Keep in mind 6 dollars of that was meat added into the eggarito. Yummy foods, great prices, and cool atmosphere. The restaurant is always busy so try and get their early, and the restaurant its self is tiny tiny so if you do not like crowded tiny spaces that may be a concern. Good wait staff too! read more

Great food and enjoyed watching the cook and people in the restaurant. A local restaurant with an interesting breakfast & lunch menu. My husband loved his ham & cheese omlette with hash browns and biscuits. I enjoyed the beef and bean burrito which was a huge tortilla filled with their world famous chili and homemade pinto beans, topped with their famous green sauce and cheese. Saw another couple with huge blueberry pancakes and another nearby customer with a cheeseburger. Couldn't resist asking about their food and all said it was wonderful. I must have went on an "off" day cause the food and service was HORRIBLE! From rubbery pancakes to uncooked sausage, the food was untouchable. As for the service, pretty much the same. After asking for our drinks, our server decided to stop and carry on a conversation on with someone people at the counter while holding our drinks and, after delivering our food, we never seen her again till we had to stop her to get our check. Had my first eggarito, it was great. Going to try the tamales next time. The kids killed some giant pancakes and loved it. Wife had the French toast it was good but nothing like my eggarito or the pancakes. The bacon was real thick and kind of like jerky. I prefer crispy thin bacon. I like the diner atmosphere. Be prepared to wait in line and be a little cramped. Beyond that, this is hands down, my favorite place in the entire state of Oklahoma, to eat breakfast. I have been eating here since 1989. There is a reason it is packed. There has to be some kind of reason for them not being able to expand, because I'm sure they would have otherwise. The staff is a ridiculously odd troupe of beautiful and amazing gems. The menu is simple, but I have never been let down or disappointed. You can have your trendy hipster restaurants that serve goat cheese stuffed arugula french toast with croation bacon stuffed truffle gnocchi. I want my hash with chili and hot sauce. read more

Service is always great and they turn tables quickly during peak business hours. I've never tried anything bad from The Diner. My go-to is usually the blueberry pancakes, which are massive, and a cup of coffee that they keep filled up for you. My fiance usually gets the eggarito or whatever their special is. For lunch, you can't go wrong with one of their cheeseburgers. Classic diner-style, just greasy enough with toasted buns. French fries are average, I usually just go with the potato chips instead of paying extra for fries. read more

This place used to be alright, but something happened to their egos, their food, and their service after Guy Ferrera redesigned the place. It went to their heads. I'll be sticking with Jimmie's Egg for 1/2 the price. They offer twice the food and no lousy, "hipster," bad tattooed, and bad attitude service. We actually left drove 2 miles to get a wallet, and came back before anyone checked on our table. I still wanted another cup of coffee. One of our party sat and patiently waited. As a fellow ex-restaurant owner I told the chatty Katy, blue haired MOD (manager on duty, who happened to be the owner) that she should pay more attention to her customers than her friends and she ended up in tears (the entire time we were waiting for service she was flirting with another woman at the bar directly in front of us..... Look you shouldn't be Manager On Duty if you can't handle a simply non confrontational critique. AND you definitely should not be owner operator if you cry when someone tells you your service has gone downhill, after we sent our food back twice (very explicitly explained food allergies from a concerned pregnant customer). Then get your dinner back up to par, swallow your pride, cut the tears and maybe you'll be Normans fav little diner again. read more

My god I love the Diner. During college my friend and I spent a year eating every item on the menu, in order, and I can tell you there's not a thing on there I didn't like (although why would you ever order cereal at the Diner?). It's open really early, but if you want the best food, I really suggest going sometime after noon. You'll probably have to stand in line 10-20 minutes, but the home fries are so much better when the griddle's been seasoned for 6 hours. read more

Ok I will admit it, I was a skeptic, just seemed too cramped. HAH was I wrong, what a little gem, this place is screaming fabulous! I love that they yell out spaces and it is an honor system to seat yourself.. The staff is wonderful, warm and welcoming... while we were there a Teacher of the Year came in, totally adorable young couple, you would think we were at someones house with the bantering. Can't forget the food, WOW, not only was the food fantastic, they magically get it out with little wait time. I love to cook and this is not prefab food, this is the real deal. All I can say is GO! You have to get the chili! I recommend ordering a burger with a cup of chili. Put the chili on the burger and have a side of delicious Diner chili. The wait staff is cool, the location is cool, the decor will hurt your eyes, but just close them and enjoy the greasy delicious food. read more

THIS place does not deserve a high rating. Ordered chili cheese fries for an appetizer and the waitress sat right across from us and ate her food instead of bringing out our appetizer the cook had to tell her 3 times to come get it. The waitress Michelle or Micheal idk if it was a man or a woman, was dumber than a box of rocks. She couldn't remember what we ordered to drink and came back 3 times to make sure we ordered fries. The cook sat right in front of us getting food of peoples plates and then went over to the cooking area and cooked peoples food without washing her hands. I'm pretty sure dog food would taste better than the chili they gave us! Absolutely the worse place I have ever been too. Also I ordered a burger and the waitress goes would you like chips or fries so I assumed chips or fries was the option as the side until I got the receipt and having fries cost almost 2 dollars extra. The Diner. I once saw a line down the street at this place like they were selling Michael Jackson tickets to his Resurrection Tour. That day we decided to skip it and try it another day. Round 2 was on a Friday, exactly three hours after the posted time they were to open. You know how you go up to a door and pull on it then push and then step back to see why the door won't move so you step back further to see if you're at the wrong establishment or if you have gotten the time wrong? Yup, that happened. The door was locked. The lights were on. A person was sitting in the back drinking something and simply looking at us while we wondered why the place was closed, but it wasn't a holiday. There wasn't a national tragedy. Flags weren't at half staff. PETA wasn't protesting for the copious amounts of bacon that were inside. There was just a guy inside looking at us like we were Jehovah's Witnesses on his porch. Now, maybe his grandmother died and he just wanted to sit inside and look at the world on the other side of a pane of glass. I get it. I often too dislike the world on the other side of glass but it is often in a vehicle because people try to merge onto a highway at twenty miles an hour. So today we go to this place so at least we can intelligently speak to why this place is overrated and why people are standing in line like they're waiting to get into an exclusive nightclub in Vegas. In similar pomp and glory as VIP is for a club, nada exclusive was going on inside. The food was extra regular. It was freezing in the back as the door continued to be left open for minutes on end, probably to keep the cooks from sweating Jheri Curl activator into the food.
