Main dining room. Very nice and elegant. Strict dress code at dinner
    Fred K.

This is the main hotel dining room at the Omni Homestead Resort. The decor and atmosphere is classic and they do have a strict dress code during dinner. Thus we dined at breakfast. It was freezing cold. They only offer a full buffet for $28 per adult. children over 7 I believe was $15. Boy what a spread. From fresh waffles, pancakes, omelettes to order, to eggs, sausages, eggs bene, awesome hash browns, bacon, as much OJ you want to consume, grits and oatmeal. Whew, Next up their pastries: cinnamon buns, croissants, delicious donuts made in house. Lots of fruits, smoked salmon (my favorite). Can't remember if there was anything else. Its worth the splurge at least one morning if you are staying here. Our server was quite friendly, and very accommodating with our request to move to a table that didn't have the AC blowing at our heads,

Reheated, expense food. Stale bread. Average at best service. Go off resort or Jefferson's for dinner. Very disappointed.

There was a huge menu selection. We had the Plain Jane, Carne Asada and the Basic Breakfast. The Carne Asada was a must have! I would have loved for the basic coffee to be a little hotter, but trying the new mint lemonade made up for it 10 times over! It was fire. This restaurant was refreshing and it was such a warm environment! A great way to start our day and we would recommend trying this hidden gem!

When we walked it we were overwhelmed with choices. The menu takes up an entire wall and there are sweet, savory and traditional meals to choose from. I'm sure no matter what your preference is, you will find something that meets your palate here. We chose the chorizo, egg and avocado waffle and my wife had the wiskets (waffle+biscuits) and gravy. So this is where things started to become a little disappointing. The staff pointed us to an electronic kiosk to take our order, take a pager, and pay. Oh of course we were asked for a tip. (More on this later) We took a table and waited for our pager. We found silver and napkins at the service counter and wrangled those. When the pager went off, we went up to the counter and retrieved our food. So...the food was really well presented and designed for the Gram. It was tepid at best, and unfortunately, not really flavorful. The waffle was soggy, with more of the consistency of a pancake than a waffle. My wife had the wiskets and I'm not sure if the staff has ever had sausage gravy before, but they may want to try a different formulation. When we finished, we found the Dishroom where we needed to scrape and bus our plates. So if I have to ring up the transaction, seat myself, wait on myself and bus the tables, what am I tipping for? Maybe I'm just salty because we were very near $40 for a mediocre breakfast for two, but the tipping thing just feels a bit tone deaf.

I have visited this restaurant several times over the years and never expected exceptional service…read more Really only ever the bare minimum. Unfortunately, even that appears to be too much to ask. On my most recent visit, I arrived alone and took an open seat at the bar, which seemed like the obvious choice for a solo diner. I immediately noticed food from a completely different fast-food restaurant scattered across part of the counter. Since it was on the employee side of the bar and both employees were standing behind it, I reasonably assumed they were eating between tasks. In fact, one employee was actively eating from the food while on the clock. While unprofessional, I chose to overlook it. What I could not overlook was the behavior of the employee I later learned was named Betty. Rather than greeting me or taking my order, Betty decided to make comments about my choice of seating to the other patrons sitting at the bar. Instead of speaking to me directly, she chose to publicly imply that I had done something wrong by sitting in an open seat clearly intended for customers. When I asked whether she was referring to me, she confronted me and explained that it should have been "obvious" that the area occupied by their fast-food meal was reserved for the employees. Let that sink in: an employee eating food from another restaurant behind the counter felt entitled to publicly criticize a paying customer for sitting at a customer seat because it interfered with her personal breakfast. The entire interaction was embarrassing, unprofessional, and incredibly disrespectful. The issue wasn't the food. It wasn't the seat. It was the astonishing sense of entitlement and complete lack of customer service displayed by someone whose job is to provide hospitality. If employees want designated dining areas, management should provide them. What should never happen is a customer being publicly singled out and treated like an inconvenience for using a seat intended for patrons. Needless to say, I left without ordering. I will not be returning, and I will be sharing this experience with others. Poor service is one thing. Being openly mocked and confronted for sitting in an available customer seat is another level entirely. This restaurant already struggled with mediocre service. After this experience, it has earned something far worse: a reputation for making customers feel unwelcome.
