The service was ok. The ambiance is nice nautical theme. After not receiving our appetizer we were over it. I've had a good burger here before so there's the 3 stars. The shrimp scampi special was terrible! How do you mess this dish up? By using precooked boiled shrimp instead of sautéed in butter, garlic, and finish with lemon/white wine. Very simple dish to make but if it were not for the Parmesan on the pasta the Diver Bar version was really bland. Not sure how a seaside city has cooks that can't do seafood right. read more

Great local find! When I visit my folks, I try to get them to break old habits and visit things that are new and interesting. More often than not, we find things that are nice, have great quality food, and are worth returning to. The Diver was fantastic. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries, a side order of sweet potato fries, and a pepperoni pizza. The prices were fair and the service was friendly. It was ready within a few minutes of when they said the order would be ready. The fries were all crispy unlike many takeout fries I've had. I was told the burger was great. The pizza was fantastic. Easily one of the best I've had in Eureka. Fresh ingredients, great cheese. read more

The food was very good. The service was among the slowest I have ever experienced and a little be short on some particulars like offering water, or a glass with a beverage. Perhaps if we had made a reservation and come at an earlier time? My main complaint was no IPA beer, my favorite. Would have made the wait more pleasant. read more

I give this place five stars for their service, the cleanliness of the establishment and the food, of course! Now, if and when you go, you must order a pizza. We ordered Sam the butcher and Thai missy. My girlfriend didn't know how the Thai missy would be because it had peanut sauce in it but it turned out to be delicious. Sam the butcher was the favorite out of the two simply for the protein. I love the crust, it was just the right amount of crunch and dough. In fact, it wasn't too doughy a crust at all. The fruity pebble sandwich is a must try. I am a lover of fruity pebbles so I HAD to order it. It is on the sweet side, but it is a very creative food idea and it was scrumptious. The service was great as well. He answered all of our questions politely and patiently. They have an extensive beer list and even more beers on draught. The food is good, however the service and wait time for food unfortunately has been an issue every single time we've dined here. Most recently - this evening - we arrived at 5:15 and were only one of four tables seated. Once we placed our order it took 45 minutes to get our burger and grilled cheese sandwich. Food arrived cold, but we were already over the experience so we just wanted to eat and leave. I usually don't mind a wait for food, but 45 minutes without even a word from our server, or a check-in to see if we'd like another round of beverages. It's definitely a bummer. We might give it one more final try, but... there's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. We had our dog with the six of us and asked to move two of the four outdoor tables to sit together and were told (paraphrasing) they didn't want to waste the tables on us. So while we planned to all have meals, drinks, and dessert to celebrate my daughter's birthday, they lost a big order and we took our business elsewhere. What we didn't count on was waiting 90 minutes for the salads and entrees to be served. 2 hrs for dinner. We arrived at 5:30, left just before 7:30. 2 hrs is a long time to sit on metal chairs. In response to the owner's comment: Yes, we did tell the waitress, as stated in the review: 'We told the waitress, who said she would tell the kitchen. " But nobody offered to "make it right," whatever that might entail. "A private message would have been more effective": I sent one to the Diver's Facebook page. I got an automated response and nothing more. "The server didn't need to tell you where I was or why I had the night off. I have no doubt that you've taken a day for yourself so that part of your comment, frankly, was unkind." We never asked why or where. That isn't our business. Nevertheless, there was apparently no one in charge, the place was short-staffed, half of our food was not good and there was a lengthy delay in getting it, and this is the result - two dissatisfied customers, as well as this public conversation, which isn't helping. I understand the defensiveness but it's misguided toward me. We do want to return to The Diver. Our previous experiences were positive. We did our part - informing the waitress, sending a private message, and when all else failed, writing a public review - but here it feels as though excuses and a bit of blaming the customer are interfering with hearing what I'm saying. read more

We are a lot hungry after a half hour because that's about how long the food took to get to us We ordered a classic burger and and a fancy mac and cheese sandwich with bacon jam Food was terrific. Nice artwork. The metal diver theme kind of makes it cold especially when it's cold and rainy outside. Service was fair. Go here when you're slightly hungry. The menu had some really great choices, conceptually tasty. I had the Meka Leka Hi burger which came overcooked, and the patty was much thinner than I expected. The jalapeño bacon was obviously a house cured pork belly, but the pork tasted like it had been in the freezer too long. (This is my assessment based on raising pigs, all of my life and having too much pork in the freezer.) Anyhow, it had good flavors, but the freezer taste on the pork kind of ruined the hamburger other than it being overcooked and dry. I don't necessarily feel like I should knock off an extra star for that, because they were pretty busy and it was a Friday night. The pizzas walking by looked amazing though, I wish I would've had that instead...next time. We came with two small children, one a newborn. While they had a highchair to use for my car seat carrier, they did not have a changing table in the restroom. Not very family friendly in that regard, I had to go three blocks to change my daughter in a cold truck- in December. I will say the coloring kids menu and the color pens that they had were pretty neat, I think I enjoyed it more than my four year old did! We will try again, without children, and not on a Friday. read more

A little over priced for what it was. We waited longer than normal for our server to great us and the service was very transactional, as it seemed like the two running the floor were overwhelmed. Burgers were expensive, okaye in flavor, and overcooked. We enjoyed the fries. read more

Can't review food that NEVER came out.... One star is for a tasty appetizer that we got shortly after being seated, but our entrees never appeared after more than an hour. About 40 minutes in our server thanked us for our patience and said we would be served in just a minute. 15 minutes after that we realized we couldn't wait any longer and we decided to ask for the check. No sign of our server again though so we waited another 10 minutes and left cash on the table to cover the app and sodas and went on our way. I emailed them the next day in hopes of some getting some sort of explanation as to why we couldn't get a SALAD and a BURGER in over an hour. But a week has passed with no reply. I had considered giving them a second chance but their lack of response tells me that they don't care about customer concerns or feedback so I've lost interest. read more

We were pleasantly greeted by our friendly waitress, seated & orders taken after only a few minutes of arriving. Beer was fresh & ice cold, we started with the berry salad & it was perfect! My entire experience here was enjoyable. The menu was filled with pleasantly unique dishes that have ensured I'll be back to try them all. Food was delicious, art provided something to talk about, and the staff was kind and quick to correct any errors. When my waitress mistakenly gave me the wrong order of fries and I asked for the small side to be replaced, she was graceful and pleasant in response and brought out a full plate of the originally ordered fries. However, the service was the issue in this trip. when we arrived, we stood there for several minutes without being acknowledged waitresses and the hostess walked by us and said nothing then we were told it was going to be a 15 minute wait OK no problem. people came in behind us they said it would be about 20 minutes to them. after about five minutes, the people came up to the stand and said that they don't wanna wait anymore and they were leaving, so the hostess sat them in front of us so that they would not walk away. read more

Went hear on a date. Not great for that but very nice staff. Good service and quick. Has the mussel appetize. The lemon and white wine. My daughter and I decided to try The Diver on a Thursday night. Place was not very crowded. We got there at 6:45 and didn't receive our entrees until 8:00. We were never even asked if we wanted another drink in all that time. Our order was very basic. Cheeseburger for me and a salad for my daughter. The cheeseburger was meh, and the salad unspectacular. Let's start pre pandemic... we were addicted to the S**t load of garlic and clam pizza. We live in the Red Bluff and visit Eureka often. We have been looking forward to the restaurant reopening. I was nervous when I walked in with my toddler and saw every table packed but this place did not disappoint. The service was incredible, even with a full house they took our order right away and it was out in no time. That kind of service is hard to find in Humboldt. The food was delicious. We ordered the fries as an appetizer to appease my 2 yr old, a kids pizza and I got the mussel pasta with wine sauce. I've never had a pasta dish with sooo many mussels! It was fantastic! My only request would be to serve it with some bread because I wanted to soak up every last drop. The cheese pizza was delicious too.
