I have loved this spot since it opened. Beautiful atmosphere and amazing food. My favorites are the Rueben, the VonTrap with bacon jam, and the clam pizza. Probably the best clam pie I have ever had on the West Coast. My partner has food allergies and they are always on point. If you haven't had the ribs on special you are missing out. My husband has been in eureka for business and my two children and I drove up to visit him. We ended up here as a last resort on a Saturday night for dinner as all the other local restaurants were booked or had a huge wait. We were sat immediately. Had the most attentive, kind, thoughtful waiter. He brought out two separate fruit tray appetizers for my girls (ages 1 1/2 and 4) without us asking, brought a second juice out for my oldest after an accidental spill (again without us asking), extra cups, plates and KINDNESS. I'm still confused why this place DIDNT have a wait. They should. They are AWESOME. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great, our service was phenomenal and we are so grateful we ended up here. Great funky joint with awesome service and good food! I had the sweet and salty pizza, husband had the Diablo burger. The pizza was good, could have used a little more sweet for my taste but it was perfect cold for breakfast the next day. The burger was good too but super spicy and the fries are awesome. The chipotle sauce was a little overwhelming and blew out my pallet. My hubby got it without mushrooms so we wondered if the mushrooms would have tempered the chipotle flavor. Don't try the burger unless you can handle the heat! I would totally come back and try other food! Portion size was good atmosphere is good and the menu is diverse. My sister, and brother in law, came up from Fresno, for the Foggy Bottoms run, tomorrow, and our folks invited everyone to "carb load" at The Diver. I heard no complaints from anyone! I had a draft of Alpine, Nelson IPA, which was very tasty, and a Reuben sandwich with beer-battered fries. Delicious. My dad and I dined here on Friday February 2, 2018, and the place was busy! I love the artwork on the walls, and the tin tile ceiling. Because the place was so busy, the kitchen was slammed with orders, and we had to wait for about half an hour for our meal. That wasn't their fault. My dad had the salmon, and I had the muscles in linguine and white wine sauce. Both were delicious! I ordered dessert, which also took a long time to get, because, again, the kitchen was so busy. Wed. !0/19/2022 -- my wife's birthday Tonight The Diver was definitely not up to usual speed in several ways. There were only two employees on the floor - one girl, one guy. The restaurant was short staffed. Well over an hour passed by from the time we were seated to when we received our food. When we finally received our order, the Popeye burger was unusually different than how the menu describes it. I pointed out the differences to the waitress. She was new and obviously inexperienced though she did mention the kitchen staff were all new people, It did seem to take forever, for our rather simple servings. My wife's pesto noodles with shrimp was good, However overall I was disappointed with the extremely slow service, unusual salad dressing and burger that did not match up to its description on the menu. The pizza and salad we've had from TDB has been great. We purchased food to-go from here during COVID when they we mandated to offer to-go food only. I checked in recently on a Thur night and found the restaurant closed when it should have been open. I called and received a message saying they were temporary closed do to lack of staffing. I had driven down from Trinidad and was disappointed but lots of businesses are dealing with these issues. I hope to see them have a strong opening soon and will check in on our next trip to the coast. This place is near my home so it's a usual spot; we've been several dozen times. Usually w/a 2 top or 4 top. First, the owner is a fantastic human and support for this place shouldn't wane. We all want it to do well. It seems to be, it gets busy. Sadly, there are consistent issues we experience here. Expediting: it's a usual dynamic w/our four top that half a table is served first. It has happened six or more times and last night the first two were almost done before the second two received meals. We are so used to it here that we didn't even bother to complain. A second expediting issue, about which we have spoken up several time over the years, is that pieces of a meal come out very quickly, on top of each other. If ordered an appetizer, salads, a pizza, etc... a cold pizza gets gross. A rushed appetizer or uneaten salad turns into a partly wasted meal. Slow the roll busy bees! Check in w/people. This may be a service issue or a kitchen issue, or communication between these elements. Inconsistency: menu items arrive differently than described. For folks avoiding ingredients (salad toppings, certain veggies, etc), this is problematic. Lack of response: one meal was so off key a few months ago that we spoke up. A nice piece of ahi was overly doused in the tasty but salty sauce. Inedible because of that. Several people tried bites, nobody could salvage it. Wait staff were so busy that by the time we were checked on, everyone at the table had finished plates but the ahi remained. This, one person was hungry. We explained. An apology was rendered. The ahi remained on the bill but we were thanked for feedback. Ambience- this is altered greatly depending on what time or day you're here. When a large group is in or the place is bustling, hearing the person you're sitting with is not an option in 2/3 of the seatings. Usually this sucks because I'd like to participate in a conversation. Sometimes this is great... I've turned this into the place I go to with people I need to see socially but whom I do not want to listen to. Um... ... that's a weird special space for an eatery to sit on my list of usual spots. I'm updating my review because I realized the kinks I noticed early never seem to have gotten worked out. I'm using 3 instead of 2 stars because people here are kind, occasionally a good meal is served and the location is aces. read more

Woke up today just knowing that my life depended on finding the most delicious burger in town. Call it a random craving...call it chronic iron-deficiency anemia...whatever. Point is, guys, I've found it. The best damn burger in the world. Ok ok, best in Eureka, then. Jeez. Perfectly cooked medium temp. Cheese: melted to perfection. Bun: like it was on a plate of its own, didn't get the tiniest bit soggy, did it's job holding my burger together, and tasted fresh and delicious. Sautéed mushrooms were huge and not slimy and belonged with that burger like their awesome beers belonged next to my plate. So very satisfied. Staff are sweet and attentive. Atmosphere is simple yet trendy. There's wine, too. I hear, from the lady sitting next to me, who apparently lives here, that the cheesecake is to die for. I'm gonna bring a piece home. I was back home to attend my college graduation this past weekend. We decided last minute to make dinner reservations and The Diver Bar and Grill was happy to accommodate. They seated us promptly and were patient as we discussed drink options and reviewed the menu. We had two toddlers with us and without even asking, the owner brought us a plate of bite sized fruit for each of our babies. I cannot stress enough how amazing this was. We had a later reservation (for our babies) and bringing us this fruit before we even ordered anything bought us valuable time to look over the menu. It probably saved us from ordering anything for the kids also. All of the food was great. The pizza, sandwiches, mussels, salads, etc. Everything was great. The carrot and parsnip fries were amazing. I have to try to make carrot fries. We ordered some paste for the babies and realized after we ordered that it might have butter or sauce on it. We asked the waitress if we could get it plain, but it was too late. They comped the bowl of pasta and gave it to us for the babies to try. While all of the food was good, it was the service that was truly exceptional. The owner was present, but not over bearing. The waitress was attentive and patient. They went over and above at every turn. For example, my wife was obviously ordering wine, but the waitress brought her a taster of cider for free anyway. These are the little things that turn a pleasant eating experience into a truly memorable one. The Diver Bar and Grill isn't just a restaurant that will be in my rotation when I'm visiting home; it's immediately my favorite Humboldt County eatery. read more

They were still working out the kinks with the pizza oven when I went but my pepperoni pizza was very good. I'd say I liked it better than pepperoni pizza from another brick oven in town. The table ordered the parsnip fries which I enjoyed. We also ordered a creme brûlée and the fruity pebbles rice crispy treat with vanilla ice cream. The brûlée was a little watery and bland but not horrible. The fruity pebble desert was amazing. We had a large group they the staff seemed to handle very well for what appeared to be a busy night. A great neighborhood joint. Carrot fries allowed me to believe fries can be healthy! If you are on "The 101", it's just a minute up the hill to Henderson Center for dinner. The food definitely beats Lost Coast Brewery. Parking is easy, no TV, noise level is very comfortable, and there usually is no wait for a table. Very uncomfortably cold - all 5 of us having our coats fully zipped up and rest of patrons the same. Metal tables and metal seats would be fine for 80 degree weather. Server was nice. Hamburger bun and Burger were dry. Carrot and parsnip fries were good. 2 pizza's were so so. One had very sparse incredients and over done. The other underdone (marguerite ) and tasteless. Pizzas are small. The menu doesn't have a lot for dinner besides pizza and sandwiches. Dined at 6 pm and they were out of 2 items. Unlikely to return unless we hear the menu changes and they get the temp up to where you're not looking forward to going back to a warm car or house. Maybe bring a seat pad, gloves and hat. read more
