The Dock House is located on the wharf of Sag Harbor and is a tiny, no-fuss but charming little restaurant. For this reason, we couldn't pass up a chance to grab a snack at The Dock House. We arrived on a cold stormy day and were in between meals. We had reservations at 8pm that night for another restaurant in town but thought it would be great if we could get a bowl of clam chowder soup here and watch the stormy weather pass us by. No one was in the restaurant but I assume it was because of the time of day and the bad weather. Didn't stop us though. We both ordered a bowl of clam chowder and sat at the bar tables facing the harbor in silence. My husband and I always laugh at those couples at dinner who just sit there and might as well be dining alone because they're not looking or speaking with one another. Well, on this day. We were this couple. It wasn't because we didn't have anything to say to each other (he can never shut me up), it was because it was so relaxing to look out and enjoy the sights and sounds of the stormy weather all while devouring our yummy soup. The soup although served in a standard paper cup, was fresh, creamy, hearty and rich in flavor. There was even a hint of heat which I thought might be tabasco or some sort of hot pepper sauce. Whatever it was, I liked it. I thought it was a great bowl of chowder and I'd recommend it to anyone. read more

This is post covid update. There are tables outside which is first come first serve. You place the order at the counter and food arrives in 15 min. We have fish tacos, salmon and burger. Website claims that they are open til 9pm. Called to place an order at 7:45pm. No answer. Called again, no answer. Drove down to place an order in person and arrived at 8:15. Walked in and all the employees just stared at us and stated that they were closed. We then asked if we could at least get a drink, they said yeah of course. The Lobster roll was respectable, but not my cup of tea. Too much mayo, finely-chopped celery and onion for my taste (some might go so far as to call it filler). I much prefer the "The Lobster Roll" in Amagansett. Not exactly a comfortable place to eat either, owing to the small size, bar top-only seating and crowds out the door. Granted it's probably a better value than any other decent seafood restaurant in Sag Harbor itself, but next time I'm hankering for a lobster roll, I will look elsewhere. read more

They are located in such an amazing location at Sag Harbor. The location makes this place quite inviting. The staff was good to us. Welcoming, smiling and warm. The food on the other hand, for the price you are paying isn't that great. The lobster rolls/ BLT clearly is the best option, but is priced at a whopping $20. And the portion you get for that price.. it's too little! We also tried the Fried Shrimp. Decent portion here, but I am not a big fan of their fries. They look, taste a bit too greasy. Very steep, even for the area. This no frills snack shack has a decent array of options that can likely appeal to a few palates. That said, their food leaves something to be desired. I got a lobster roll and, for the price, I was eating a lot more chopped bell pepper and onion than I was knuckle or claw meat. My meal was also served with a bag of chips (totally fine), a piece of lettuce, and a single tomato slice. An odd combo, indeed. I can't tell if my expectation is off, but this place and another spot in Riverhead (Jerry and the Mermaid) had the *exact same* style breaded filets for their fish and chips/fish sandwich. It was kind of flat, not hearty, not exactly square but somewhat symmetrical? The breading too was thin and mealy and stuck to the filet, but weirdest of all was that neither this filet nor the one at the other place had any flavor whatsoever. Maybe I'm used to breaded fish in New England, but I usually expect a sizable cut with some heft and a proper breading with flavor, not this flat, oily fish-o-filet for $15 ($15!!!). It did not strike me as anywhere near the day's fresh catch, despite the appealing dock location. Disappointing. read more

Best seafood in Sag Harbor! Everything was great. The chowder was the perfect consistency, not too heavy, good flavor (tarragon?) but without detracting from the sweetness of the clams. Baked clams were the same, plenty of Clam in the stuffing, good flavor and not too bready. Lobster roll was what we came for and we weren't disappointed. Big pieces of meat ( near whole claws), just enough dressing to add flavor without covering up the sweet deliciousness of the lobsta'. Clean and friendly interior. The only downside could be the size of the place. We nailed it during a post lunch lull in activity, but I'm certain the small shack has a real wait during peak sales. Loved it! read more

Although small, The Dockhouse packs a punch! It's right on the harbor in Sag Harbor. ...in what appears to be a small wooden shack. Walk in, and you'll find yourself face to face with a bathtub (yes, a bathtub) full of live lobsters. Skip the lobster roll ($20 for all lobster meat or $18 for lobster plus other seafood), and try their steamers. They are served with a clam sauce, butter and lemon, and are perfectly cooked and fresh. We also got clam strips and raw clams - all of which were awesome. It was packed inside, but we came via boat. So we decided to have our meal on the boat on the dock next door. There are also benches outside, but right on the street. Would definitely go back, and recommend to anyone visiting or living in/near Sag Harbor. read more

I enjoyed my visit, but it's tough not to enjoy such a beautiful location on a pier in Sag Harbor. The lobster roll was decent, and certainly fresh, but did not stand out among my lobster roll experiences. I thought that the texture and bun were both quite good, but that the lobster was made into too much of a salad in which the lobster's flavors were overpowered. The tomato slices that accompanied the lobster were quite fresh and delicious. There is probably seating for about twenty people between the counter seating and few round tables. ordered the fried shrimp which came with fries and a roll. Food was meh! Nothing dance or special. Everything was frozen then fried. There are fresh seafood options available but again, I wasn't expecting frozen shrimp. The waffle fries were seasoned ones but again frozen. What an incredible family owned restaurant!!!! I stumbled upon this gem my first time in Sag Harbor. I was super hungry so I tried the manhattan chowder, lobster bisque, and the New England clam chowder and was blown away at how rich and flavorful each one was. Normally I'm not a fan of lobster bisque but they do a really great job with theirs. I also had the lobster roll and they certainly do not skimp on their lobster meat! Piled high with lobster and so fresh and juicy I'm hungry again just thinking about it. This is a must if you find yourself in Sag Harbor. Highly recommend to all!! I actually found this place from an article about fish tacos in the Hamptons and this was one of the places that was recommended. A mediocre lobster shack type of spot. Mediocre because the meal was "meh", expensive but convenient location. I was looking for some seafood that wasn't fried but it seemed that almost everything was battered and fried. An alright take-out seafood shack kinda place on the pier in Sag Harbor. Starting with the food... it was alright, about what one would expect from a takeout seafood shack. Lots of fried stuff, but they also sell raw fish/seafood too, if you want things to take home. Ultimately the lobster roll I ordered, while the portion was huge, was more like a crab salad. Now don't get me wrong, that doesn't make it bad, but it wasn't really the most appetizing thing. Way too much celery, onions and other stuff that is distracting you from the lobster goodness. Also I found a few pieces of shell, thankfully I didn't bite down on them and slice my gum or tongue open or something, the thought alone is terrifying. Annnyway, *thinking positive thoughts* the place is a staple if you're down by the pier, and it's nice to grab some food and sit by the water for lunch. Prices are on the high side for the type of food and atmosphere, but because of the location no doubt. Especially for the fried stuff. However, knowing where you are, it's unavoidable. read more

The Dock House is definitely a treat and a fun place to go to. However, their lobster rolls aren't that good and I'd rather get one almost anywhere else in the Hamptons. Their lobster roll is 75% celery and onions mixed with lobster, something I see a lot of in the Hamptons. That being said, their other items are relatively tasty. Their soup is super good as are their fried seafood items. If you do go, steer clear of the lobster roll and go for some other seafood items! read more

One of my favorite spots in Sag Harbor. I've only ever gotten the Lobster Roll, but that's all I'm there for. There's very little seating here, so don't come expecting table service or fine dining. It is located right near a sandy cove on the bay that has picnic tables and some nice grassy seating. Great space to watch the sunset and look over the water. read more

this is a small family run fast food/counter service joint right on the pier. I stopped and had the Thai shrimp burger and took a lobster roll and lobster bisque to go. Besides these specials of the house, they also have a variety of fresh catch of the day that I think you can eat there or take home to prepare. My shrimp burger was OK but nothing special, and I thought my lobster roll was also OK, I do like celery bits in the loberst roll which gave the sandwich a nice fresh crunch to contrast with the texture of lobster. The sandwich was not runny with excess moisture which can drip and make a mess liked other lobster rolls I've had. My lobster bisque though I thought was a little bit tart and I didn't care for it as much as I had hoped. The restaurant is rather small so if it is too packed I highly suggest taking it to go to long beach park, or whatever it is called, its on Noyack-long beach road and take your sandwich to the beach for a nice picnic. Visited this place many times and it was always very good. Yesterday's visit was a huge disappointment. The bread was completely hard and stale, the sauce had a terrible flavor and the salmon was not as fresh as it usually is and also a much smaller portion. Got some take out from here today- cute little seafood shack. It was packed inside so I was happy to have called my order in. My to go order was still done and ready to go in ten minutes. I got my order of whole belly clams, which came out to $18 and change with tax. It turned out to actually be on a sourdough roll with lettuce and tomato even though I expected it to be a platter... There was plenty of clams though so it wasn't a problem for me. The whole belly clams had too much breading for my taste but it was definitely cleaned properly and did not taste like it was previously frozen. It also came with waffle fries, which were fried to perfection! The side of the building said that they were famous for lobster, so I'll have to come back and give that a whirl next time. read more

Came here for lunch and got their take out. It was a very small place with minimal seating but the line was long and it took a little while to get our food. It might be best to call your order in if you can. That being said, the food was really good. I ordered the lobster roll $22 and it was a generous amount of lobster and it was delicious. The bread wasn't buttered and warm like how I'm used lobster rolls being but that's something a microwave can solve. They added a slice of tomato and one salad leaf on the side (I'm not sure what for). Overall, still a great place to eat, I'd definitely still come back. read more

You can just see how many big pieces of lobster are in the roll I just ate.
