It took them almost 30 minutes to get us our food. This is like a home cooked meal, so maybe that is not too bad if you are not in a hurry. I got the meatloaf. You can get steak, chicken, or fish at about every restaurant like this. For me, I always like to check these kinds of places out by their meatloaf. I mean you can do a lot with meatloaf. Here it was pretty good. It had some unique spice to it that I could not put my finger on get on. I could taste black pepper with something. While I enjoyed it, the more of it I ate, the stinger that flavor was and it was just a tad too much for my liking. The green beans were fine and nothing fancy. The mashed potatoes were really good and the brown gravy was good, but I did not care much for how they tasted together. The potato recipe was really good, but it did not pair well for me. My wife had grilled salmon and loved it. She had a baked sweet potato side, but it was not fully cooked. Overall it was an ok experience in a small town for home cooked meals. I'd probably give it another try if in the area again.

The meat was 3 times the size of the bread so he used fingers, knife and fork... making yummy noises as he went. We enjoyed the bottomless ice tea ... very good, clearly homemade. The well-worn sign out front still says "Deez Butts" BBQ, and I'd followed signs from the freeway exit thinking I was going to a barbecue joint. It feels like an old German inn. The waitress staff wore cultural dresses. They even have a cute little gift shop. The salad bar looked fresh with plenty of options. I had the Ruben. It was delicious. It does not come with any sauce, but the waitress was happy to grab me thousand island. This was probably one of the best Ruben's I've had. Along with the wursts, I ordered a salad and completely enjoyed their house made blue cheese dressing. The beer menu had Spaten Special. Spaten is a rare treat for and this is the first time I have even enjoyed it on tap. When I was leaving, I was able to buy a six pack of harder to find German beers. My adult son loves German beer and did not even recognize one I brought that he loved. Restraining myself, I made only modest purchases in the gift shop. This will not be true next visit. As far as the museum aspect, there are many displays. Down one wall are many car models, train models, liquor decanters and numerous other German items. I sneaked into a closed dining room with great displays of stein and wine history. A few times a year, I head from TN to IN. I will make this a two day stop. The first thing I noticed was the huge change that continually occurs while I'm absent. I remember when I first left, the best place to eat was Mom's & G-Moms. Then it was your friend's house- sometimes. I'm from Kentucky. Well, I was introduced to another house, called The Fish House & Grill. This clean and cheerful place with the aroma of grilled, boiled and fried seafood with its seasoning filling the air. Full, but not standing room only, because it rained earlier and weather can be unpredictable at times. But we, a party of 5, were happy as we captured a picnic bench style table to fit all comfortably. We grabbed menus from the cashier and sat down to discuss the menu. I ordered the grilled red snapper and fried chicken gizzards with coleslaw. 15-20 minutes later, steaming hot containers were being brought to the table, aroma AMAZING! The snapper flaked with each fork cut into delicious bite sized melt in your mouth, slap your mamma, mouthfuls. But, I didn't, she was there!!!
