I got the classic sliders. The fries have the most amazing seasoning on them! Service was a little off and slow. My daughter and I decided to stop in here after we checked out of our vacation rental while we waited for time to head to the airport. It was early afternoon, not very busy and the place was super cute with it's outside patio area. We sat at the outside bar and were served promptly. There was a good selection of craft brews and other drinks. The atmosphere was definitely very chill and laid back for day drinking. The bartenders were friendly if you engaged them in conversation. Scan to pay and order and is false advertisement on their "Coke" products they served RC Cola and even that was flat. We came here for dinner for my bachelorette party and there were 6 of us. We had called ahead and made a reservation and I would suggest doing so especially if you have a larger party because it's quite a happening place. The restaurant had open windows with a view of the outside bar. There was a bar inside and a bar on the outside patio part. There were a lot of TV's around the restaurant, which was good since March Madness games were on. We all ordered beers or cocktails and were very pleased with all of them. I ordered the 'Z' 75 which had tequila, St. Germain liqueur, agave nectar, fresh lime juice, and champagne - you must get it! Some of my friends ordered a plethora of appetizers as their entree. They ordered fried pickles, sweet potato tots, spinach and artichoke dip, and a trio dips (guac, salsa, queso). They were pleased with all except the trio dips. I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos and they were so good - definitely recommends any of the street tacos! Our server was absolutely great! He was very friendly and was cracking jokes with us the entire evening. He also checked in on ya frequently to see how we were doing, drinks, how the food was, etc. The kitchen had messed up the wellness of our friends burger and when he saw that he apologized and immediately offered to comp it for her. He also comp'd my drink since I was he bachelorette and he bought us a round of shots to get the night started. Came her for OU vs TX at 11:00 am. Our first bartender was a little rude but it was early so I'll cut her some slack. The later bartender was much better. The bar itself is awesome. The outside one is huge and looked like so much fun but it was raining so we sat at the cozy inside bar. I'm shocked how many people still sat outside in the rain. Anyway, there's lots of tvs and it's a great spot for watching some football. There's lots of drink options and they're strong and good. We ordered the queso and I continually ate the stalest chips I've ever eaten in my life because ya know drunk. I don't know how the rest of their food is but I doubt I'll be trying to find out. I cant say enough good things about the Bartenders here. They are friendly, attentive, fun and warm. I asked one a question about where my lyft driver was and he took my phone and took control of the situation, talked to my driver and literally walked a block and a half to where my lyft driver was. My friends and I came into the Dogwood for some pre-brunch drinks. The place we wanted to go to had quite a wait and we were thirsty! We got to sit outside, and though it was quite chilly, the lovely doorman helped us with a heater by our table so we could stay warm. Most of the girls got the GIANT mimosas, size of your head. I want to say it had a whole bottle of champagne in it? It was delicious. So bubbly and fun and came with a fun color straw. I also ordered some biscuits and gravy, because who said you can't have an appetizer before brunch? The biscuits were BOMB. Flaky, buttery, yummy. And the sausage gravy was great too! Super flavorful sausage and nice and thick creamy gravy. I think this place seems like a fun time day or night! good tvs and space to watch chicago bears games but ever since they got bought out by little woodrow's the food quality is horrible and food service is slow (1 hour for an order of 2 sliders which tasted gross and had barely any meat. i wish i took a picture of the chicken sliders but imagine a measly fried giblet looking piece of meat instead of a normal chicken patty. Note to staff: if you know you're short staffed in the kitchen please have the courtesy to inform your customers when they order that there will be well over 45 mins delay for food. don't use that as an excuse after the fact when the customer asks when their order will be ready. read more

This place isn't anything special. Just your average bar with food. My experience was that they weren't busy and it took us probably an hour to get our food. We were in a group of 6 and they brought everyone's food out at different times. I had already eaten my food before 3 other people from my table received theirs. But it's kind of one of those things that's just kind of expected almost? I would say if you're looking for a nice sit down place, this isn't the one for you. We no longer live in Austin however we were in town for the game. When we lived here I can say we were frequent customers. I'm disappointed the food menu has really shrunk. The majority of our wings were burnt and we couldn't even tell which were which. I miss the sliders this place use to have. It's seems the last 3 times we hung out there, the food was ok. So many items missing from the menu. We sat at the bar outside and two out of the three bartenders lacked in customer service. Their blah face- looked like they didn't want to be there, never did they say you're welcome, barelly said anything. Very bare minimum service. One customer asked the bartender something and she just pointed again blah face-resting face motioning to him "over there" Bartenders would just shake their head yes/no didn't speak. My girlfriends and I usually have a really good time at Dogwood. Not sure why, but this Saturday around 12:30, the bar was not as lively as it usually is. Especially when the bars next door and across the street seemed packed. As the night grew closer to 2am, it was pretty dead. I couldn't figure out why because they have a dance floor area, the music was good, and the bartender we had was kind and made good cocktails. I hope their crowd picks up again, because I would hate to see this bar go under. We still ended up having a good time. My only criticism is that they need to be careful serving drinks to customers who've already had one too many. I watched two guys, who were wasted, both order drinks and get served. read more

Visited the dogwood on a busy Saturday night with a couple of friends. There wasn't a long line to get in and it went super quickly despite the bar appearing to be packed. There is a bar right when you get in that everyone seems to gravitate towards but *pro tip* if you walk inside there is a huge bar that usually never has a wait. I went right up and was served even before I could take my wallet out. The first I thing I thought upon entry was holy cow they've ripped the whole place up. And they had. No cozy booths, no secret spots, no major wooden obstructions... a gallery looking bar with lots of folks clustered around themselves imbibing various adult bevvies. And it was coooooooooool. Like big open happy space cool. The outside is a sight to behold. A bar made of stacked rocks, a backsplash to your flirting full of cacti and several small spots to park your rear and people watch. Its the obvious combination of afflicted t shirt wearing dudes and ladies with silicon parts but by the same token, you're getting a more casual crowd wearing flippers instead of stilettos. The bar will be successful with that interesting clash of cultures but my $9 bar tab for three drinks means I'll probably be back and happy with the choose-your-own-adventure vibe vs. some of the other spots on west sixth. I don't typically go to many bars on West 6th but this past Sunday I was out with friends, sitting in the sun on Woodrow's patio with my new puppy (frigga) and Odin. It got to be pretty hot so we headed for a little shade and found it at Dogwood. I wasn't expecting it but the staff at Dogwood was very good to Frigg and Odin. Brought out water, loved on them, etc. - Much nicer than pretty much any other patio I've taken them to in Austin so far. Definitely plan to go back again. read more

With the amount of times I've been to Dogwood, one would probably think I'd give it five stars. Honestly, I wish I could give it 3.5, but that's not a thing. I like the atmosphere at Dogwood. The patio's great, they have a bunch of fans, and there's enough of an air conditioned inside space to sit in if it's just too unbearably hot outside. Not only is there enough inside space, but there's plenty of seating other than just the bar, which is nice when it gets packed on weekend nights. The food at Dogwood is awesome. They have special menus for things like the Super Bowl, a Hangover menu for Sunday mornings, etc. They also do fun stuff like taco Tuesdays and $3 burgers on Mondays. I don't think I've ever eaten anything at Dogwood that I didn't like. The one thing at Dogwood I don't like? The service at the bars. Even at a mostly empty bar, sometimes you've got to walk up to them and almost waive your hand in front of their face before they take your drink order. With the amount of business they get on Friday and Saturday nights, I guess they don't really need to give a shit about customer service. They'll get the tips by just showing up. Regardless, it'd be nice if they'd pay a little more attention. They make good drinks though. On the other hand, the servers that walk around to the tables to take drink orders are super sweet and attentive, so sit at a table if you can. UPDATE: Not all of the bartenders are inattentive.
