I was really disappointed when we walked in at 10:30 and were told we couldn't get breakfast. Then I was disappointed again at their choices of bread! White and wheat? No Sourdough!!!! That's sad! I ended up ordering a grilled chicken sandwich with no bread, I didn't know I wouldn't get the fixings! The chicken is dry and I don't even know if it was real! My husband's was on Texas toast and it was okay. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because the fries were hot and the waitress was nice.

I worked in Cookeville for almost 2 months and this was the 2nd spot that I ventured too outside of my hotel. I was craving a decent cheeseburger when I came across this local mom & pop about 10 minutes from town. They had a simple country menu but everything that you could want for a good lunch. The waitress was friendly and suggestive. Unfortunately they didn't have an egg to put on my burger but it wasn't lacking in flavor without it. My burger was perfect. Good size, all the classic fixins, and crispy tots to match. I had to take a star off for the banana pudding. I was really excited for some good home made country dessert and was sad I left without trying it there or I would've exchanged it for something else. The pudding tasted like they used green baby bananas to make it. They were firm and not ripened sweet. Definitely wouldn't recommend if that's the usual recipe. But if you're looking for a good burger in cookeville, this is your place.

    Welcome signage

We recently dined with friends at this legendary Cookeville classic est. in 1953 (or maybe even earlier under a slightly different name). We were quickly greeted and told to sit wherever we wanted. Our server was quite friendly and welcoming. The dining area is a large half wall partitioned room. Most tables were seating for 4, with some round tables able to accommodate larger parties. Everyone in our group decided to partake of the Saturday night all you can eat Catfish dinner. (Currently offered on Friday too) The catfish was fried up PERFECTLY! Light, crispy cornmeal coating. Just the right amount of seasoning. And most importantly, NOT GREASY! The catfish was fresh and delicate with none of that "muddy" taste that catfish sometimes has. Initial portions were very generous. Three (3), large pieces of catfish, crinkle fries, hush puppy and a side of coleslaw. They serve with tarter sauce for the fish but also have hot sauce if you prefer. Those that asked for more catfish were brought a generous basket full of freshly prepared fish. You could clearly tell they cook to order. Hubster and I were saying we will need to visit again to try other things on the menu. They actually advertise their giant burgers and mile-high pies as well as their daily "meat and three" specials. Yet another great local place in Cookeville, TN!

It's a Fox News party. As a Democrat I don't feel all that comfortable there. The food is standard fare. Almost old-fashioned, but tasty.

It's called Dipsy Doodle because it used to be one of those Sonic-style drive-ins, and I believe they used to serve soft-serve ice cream back then.

This sandwich shop just might be the best-kept secret in Cookeville. As of the date of this review,…read moreyou can't even find it on the Which Wich app and it took me some effort to find it on the list of stores on their website. Which Wich Cookeville in fact can be eventually found with a little junior detective work. It is on the Tennessee Tech University campus housed within Roaden University Center. It is nestled in an out of the way corner in the same lower building level as the campus bookstore. For some unknown reason, the procedure for filling out your sandwich "order bag" at this location is different. Just go to the counter and the person there will help you. There are two types of order bags- favorites and build your own. Customizing is available on the favorites which is not well known. I wonder if in the past the order bags and marker pens were too much of a temptation to leave access to the student body at large? Which Wich offers three size sandwiches- 7" regular, 10" large, and 14" super. The super-size sandwich might be a good choice for sharing. You can also have your wich as a tortilla wrap or totally bread free with a lettuce wrap. Other reviewers commented about excessive wait times- I felt the wait for my wich was appropriate. Made fresh takes more time than pre-prepared and sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long. I found that the sandwich makers are generous with the meats- so much that the veggies on my wich had hardly any space to call their own. In addition to sandwiches, Which Wich also offers green and pasta salads. I didn't try a salad this visit but the photos look good on their website. I did decide to try the house potato chips with my combo and I liked their just-right combination of salt and pepper toppings. In addition to soft drink favorites, Which Wich has sweet and unsweet teas and made to order real ice cream milkshakes in 7 flavors. Currently, orders are take-out only (due to COVID-19) and the chairs have been removed from around the tables in the store's dining area. This is not a huge problem as there is plenty of seating space in the commons area near the bookstore and there are tables outside if the weather is favorable This location is only open the same hours as the Roaden University Center building which means that they are closed weekends. (Insert sad panda face emoji here). A true tragedy because the weekend is the perfect time to order the BrunchWich featuring a sunny side up egg and thick-cut bacon. Which Wich is a great alternative to "fried" fast food and each wich is made to order fresh. Give them a try when you have the Jones for a healthy meal that tastes great too.

The sweet girl at the register was friendly and gave us some good tips. We ordered a pimento cheese and bacon, the Italian and the turkey bacon avocado. We also got tomato bisque and pasta salad for our sides. I love vinegar, but the pasta salad was too much. Almost like Italian dressing had separated ans it was straight vinegar. Not edible. Tomato bisque was very good, but a little salty. I would absolutely dip a grilled cheese in it! I do not know what possessed my child to order the pimento. I did try it, but have no idea what it should taste like so ....I can't really review. The Italian was GREAT. Melted cheese was a surprise but I loved it. So, everyone raved about the turkey bacon avocado. I thought it was ok. The bacon didnt have any flavor, but the avocado was perfectly ripe. Its a cute little shop and adjoins the gift shop next door. Lots of indoor seating for when it gets colder, but we sat at the picnic tables outside since it was such a beautiful day.
