Very cool place. shh it's a secret. It's like you were instantly ported back to the 1920's right in the middle of prohibition. A very charming unassuming little boutique store front with some tee shirts and souvenirs when you first walk in. Then you whisper the magic password and the gentleman escorts you through a narrow little doorway, a vestibule and door then opens to a perfectly recreated 1920's prohibition speakeasy. The motif is perfect from vintage art work on the wall to the hanging chandeliers and the big leather couches and chairs all in a very dark lighting. There is one way glass so you can see whoever comes into the store ( police or significant other) but they can't see you! Lol. And you can't leave through the front where you came in. You are guided to the back of the establishment to the back door which lets out into a narrow gangway then to the alley. I think Al Capone himself was going to jump out at me. lol. The bartenders/ mixologists further raise your experience by providing enjoyable banter and well made cocktails. Espresso Martini's and a Donut Raspberry Cheesecake were the drinks and dessert of choice and both were amazing. If you wind up going I suggest for you gals, a flapper dress with the beads and sequins with a cocoon coat and some tee strap heels. Guys your fanciest fedora and some two tone lace up oxfords. Either way you're gonna have a Roaring 20's great time. This place is a hidden gem! LITERALLY! Speakeasy spot that's a secret and a must visit. You'll need a passcode phrase to be escorted through a secret entrance from the store front. Secret so IYKYK. As you enter through the door, you'll be amazed as you step into a whole new world of classy yet old school gangster prohibition era vibe with dim lights lovely chandeliers and decor with a one sided window panes that you can observe the store front. The vibes gives you the secret and exclusive underground lounge feeling with a back door exit as well. Love the amazing bartenders and their outfits making amazing unique drinks. I honestly couldn't love this place any more even if I tried really really hard. This speakeasy is WOW factor- it was done so well. I loved my time here and will absolutely be back! I am so grateful Ellijay added this gem to their community. The location is easy to find at the bottom of The roof. The exterior is an apparel shop. Upon entering you are greeted by an employee who if you know the secret code walks you through a secret door, down a hallway and into the dim speakeasy. If you don't know the code or just happen to enter don't worry you can shop inside for glasses, shirts, and other goods. Through the door the speakeasy is breathtaking. I truly felt like I'd been transported back in time. The music was perfect, the lighting, the ambiance, the chairs. Everything was magical! Alby and Chad greeted us and took our drink orders. Chad was on top of it and truly added so much to the experience. My husband and I had the best time. We spent a few minutes getting to know Chad before we left and were excited to hear that he's a comedian! How fun!! Overall the drinks were fun and unique, the service was above and beyond, and the ambiance sets the tone for a truly magical time. I cannot wait to return! read more

Went to see a man about a horse! We almost skipped this spot due to our poor first impression of the sister restaurant The Roof but our waitress convinced us it was worth the stop. The gentleman who greeted us was sweet and friendly and played his role perfectly. We sat inside and loved the two way glass so you could see people shopping and unaware what was beyond the mirrors on their side. Inside was dark and moody in the best way. Could see this being a great date sport! Drinks were perfect! We tried the Wright Brothers, the Box Car, the Bees Knees and the Model T. I personally think the Bees Knees was the stand out but it's hard to say for sure as everything was great! I love a place that can balance a cocktail without being overly sweet! This place hit all the right notes! Will definitely be back! read more

We had the BEST time at the Door! We had drinks and noshes pretty much as soon as it opened, and then returned for dessert and drinks after!! The mixologists are incredible and even specially concocted drinks for us. From the minute you "ask a man about a horse" to the warm goodbyes, this place delivered on taste, incredible variety of top flight liquors, wonderful hosts and bar staff and fantastic drinks and food. We loved the place. We are from Florida (go figure) and have a cabin in the area. We have enjoyed going to the Roof for several years now and enjoyed the shop underneath but "The Door" takes an evening out in Ellijay to a whole new level. Excellent service, drinks and fun atmosphere. It will become one of our regular places to take guests from now on. read more

Great atmosphere friendly entry. Service inside is slow and not enough servers or bar tenders for the clients. Selection of bourbon is so so but looks like they are working on it. I will give it another try but hope they work on the service. Needs a more cheerful tone behind the bar read more
