Easy parking. Super friendly guys working there. Lots of gluten free donuts left at 10:30 although they said the rate they sell varies. The chocolate gluten free donut was very tasty and had a nice texture for a cake donut. It was basically a cupcake with a hole in the middle. Just moved to town and had passed by this place a few times. So decided to try it. Horrible. Walked in and gentleman working barely spoke, had a scowl on his face and acted like I was interrupting his day by making a purchase. I picked a glazed donut and custard filled chocolate icing. Went out tocar to enjoy and it was like biting into a half baked piece of bread. It wasn't cooked all the way. Maybe that's why thecall it a dough nut. I've been vegan for a long time, and in that time I'd nearly given up hope on finding a good, truly good, maple bar. The maple bar and chai donut from this place are PHENOMENAL. They give you the same satisfaction and guilty-pleasure you'd otherwise get from any regular non-vegan donut. On top of that, the pricing is completely reasonable for what you're getting. I always see the sign on my way to Juniper Park and thought I'll have to check the place one day which happened to be today. Nice little shop, friendly staff. I was informed they also have gluten-free and vegan options, which was good to know. I ordered 2 maple bars, a dozen donut holes and an apple fritter. The fritter was fresh, delicious and just sweet enough. I planned on eating only half but I was weak and ate the whole thing. Definitely not proud of myself...haha. We came in around 11:00 and heard the guy behind the counter telling the person in front of us that the donuts in the case were the leftovers from their other location across town. Understandable business practice, not the best way to make me excited about your donuts. There is very limited seating. Only 5 of 6 bar stools along tiny counters in the corners. A clear sign this is not a place to come and spend some time enjoying your donut. Order, leave, then eat. They had an okay mix of the classics (maple bar, glaze twist, etc.) and trendy (salted caramel) but nothing really made this place stand out. Hmmm... Coming from Portland I have become quite the doughnut snob.... I felt like I was in a spin off of a not so creative Voo Doo as I walked through the door. They still had a fairly decent amount of donuts left, though I saw a bunch of empty rows with delicious sounding flavors that we will have to come back and try later! Some vengeful person must have some kind of personal vendetta against the owner of this shop or an employee. I really can't wrap my head around the negative reviews. The Dough Nut makes some of the best donuts I've ever had. Anywhere. This includes Top Pot in Seattle and The Big O in SLC. (Voodoo is nowhere near this list cuz their donuts are nothing more than generic tasting crap with creative names and decorations) The Dough Nut's donuts are more dense than the generic stuff you'll find in a grocery store or run-of-the-mill donut shop. And this is a good thing. There is supposed to be "dough" in a doughnut right?! The flavors taste like they should. Some shops call their donuts chai this or banana that... But their flavor is in the title only. Not The Dough Nut--their flavors taste like their namesakes and the Dough Nut does this very well. I'd give them 5 stars if they'd work on their website (which sucks, especially the mobile version) and improve the hole-in-the wall atmosphere in their stores. Ok I bought these donuts again at the new location on greenwood without realizing they were the same store that was on Galveston. I'm including a picture of the delicious LOOKING although pretty damn expensive treats I picked up. What you see in the photo was 14.00 bucks for 5 cakes ! These donuts and the one banana fritter are the strangest things ever. The so called banana fritter must have been mislabeled because I couldn't see or taste any banana. In fact, I think it is more accurately described as a dry cinnamon bun..... Sorta.... Kinda. The most promising looking one, delightful looking strawberry shortcake donut was the biggest disappointment of all. IT LITERALLY HAD NO FLAVOR!! I mean it tasted like nothing! No strawberry taste, no whip cream taste.....NOTHING! If it weren't for the fact that you were chewing, you'd have no idea you were eating anything and that's no exaggeration. To be fair, we ate the strawberry one following morning so I realize it wasn't fresh from the case but even still. It was like a beautiful woman with absolutely zero personality. Save your money and go to sweetheart donuts or Richards donuts if you want a great donut or hell, go to Fred Myers or Safeway and get one of those pre frozen things, you'll enjoy it more, I promise. I read a lot of the other reviews on here and honestly I think a lot of the five star reviews must have been written by friends because these donuts are terrible. It didn't take long before I received a very , very long "comment" from Kirk attacking everything from my intelligence, inability to spell, having no sense of location, inability to recognize the taste of strawberries, and apparent tendency to leave a woman feeling unsatisfied ,lol. Here's some advice for Kirk ( at both locations) who is obviously very proud of his lousy product: Instead of attacking, insulting and debating every bad review you get in the comments section , maybe you should just step up your game. Go to sweetheart donuts or Richards and see what a delicious donut or fritter tastes like then go back to your own shop and try to duplicate it. All kirk has accomplished, with his ranting comments to bad reviews ,is show that his attitude sucks as badly as the donuts he sells. Every other donut shop in bend receives consistently high ratings except this place. When a good portion of your reviews agree that your product is tasteless, stale, chewy, greasy and generally gross then maybe you should take a look at why you're getting poor reviews .
