I almost feel like I shouldn't review this place because I am not a huge fan of burgers. However, they do offer other options so that is what I got (the fam got burgers), and that is what I am basing my review on. I got the Navajo Taco, in case your wondering what it is its a piece of fry bread (?) with seasoned ground beef, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. I cant say I was a fan of it, at all. In fact I ended up throwing away most of it. We also had: a patty melt, double cheeseburger, jalapeno poppers, and a couple of kids meals in our order. Everyone else seemed pleased with their orders hence why I upped it to the 3 stars. I tried one of the kids chicken strips, it was tough and overcooked unfortunately...I DID love the drink options though, huge fan of the options and trying to leave this review on a positive note because I really do love mom & pop style joints. read more

On our way to St George and found this cute place on Yelp. For sure worth the stop! My husband had a cheese burger and I had their grilled ham and cheese. Everything was great and better than stopping at a fast food place when you're on the road. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because the fries needed to be crispy. Just stopped by here to try their fries and tots. The other half got a vanilla milkshake. It was super thick had to be consumed with a spoon. She's used to sipping on milkshakes with a straw. It also gave her upset tummy. Their spuds were mediocre and a little to oily for me. Got a large but it definitely is a small when compared to any other establishment. Big red flag for us were the employees either not wearing a mask or wearing their masks below their noses. Handling food vaccinated or not should still being wearing a mask. An older lady that looked like the manager was dead on walking without a mask. The mask mandate has not been lifted yet in Utah. So get with the program. Stopped in here last week. My son and I were looking for something other than the usual small town gas station/restaurant combo. The place isn't huge inside, maybe 5 or 6 tables, but there was some space outside or take it to go. Tables inside look to be 30 years old and well used, but clean on top. We both ordered the bacon cheeseburger, fries and a shake. We waited maybe 10 minutes while they actually cooked the food. Shakes came out first and were what was expected, thick and strawberry flavored. Not out of this world, but good. Fries and burger made their way out eventually. Fries were hot and tasty. Burger was big, hot and juicy, the lettuce and pickle were still cold. Good bun. Overall a good spot to stop. If I'm passing through and hungry, I'll stop again. Go to McDonald's! It's as dirty as the staff was rude! She put the ice cream cone back in the ice cream machine four times because it was so runny and tried to serve me the same ice cream cone. This place is disgusting. They argued with me about the fries being cold, then after finally reaching into my bag and trying a french fry, she offered to put them back in the microwave to reheat them again. Stay far away! Camping in Beaver is amazing and stopping in at this little gem is equally amazing! Everytime we are in town we stop in at least once to get some tasty food. Consistent quality food and super duper friendly service. I wish I lived closer so it more than a once a year treat! I get the cheeseburger, which is always perfect! Nice fresh toppings and delicious sauce make it tasty. They have the best onion rings EVER! Full onion rings rather than the onion bits and pieces you may get elsewhere. Ask for the fry sauce to get the maximum enjoyment from your onion rings. Sweetie got the bacon ranch chicken sandwich and enjoyed it. Hard to go wrong when bacon is included. To round out the meal some extra crispy fries hit the spot. The kiddy size cones were perfect for the pups! Forty nine cents for pure puppy delight! Ok and we got a full size swirl vanilla and chocolate cone for ourselves, too! Service is always exceptional. Friendly people who want to make your meal enjoyable and hassle free. Also, they are happy to bring your food to you at the outside picnic tables. If the weather is nice, eat outside! The area is clean and it is beautiful. My only suggestion would be to add the option to add a tip on when you pay by debit card. I don't carry much cash and would leave a bigger tip if I could add it to the bill. So I'm just on my way to Denver from Vegas and happened to see a sign that said "fresh cheese curds here!" and immediately had an urge for some poutine. So we tentatively pulled into this random town called Beaver and sure enough this dairy had some squeaky fresh curds. I pulled up local restaurants and saw that this one had the perfect sized fries for the task at hand. When we walked in, the very friendly staff were eager to help me with my mission. They don't have poutine on the menu but they had a lot of the ingredients. After describing the mission to them and about 5 minutes later, we had two large boxes of perfectly cooked fries, seasoned taco meat, and grilled green chiles + onions. It was perfect. This cafe is an awesome small town diner and definitely worth stopping by if you're just passing through. read more

Cool little burger joint across from the Best Western motel. Straight up burgers and awesome milk shakes. Very friendly staff a few tables and some quarter games. There is a mexican side of the menu with tacos and burritos. I did a double cheese burger. I couldn't finish it. Burger patties are just the right size. Ozzing with cheese and onions, pickles, LTO on a great bun. Fries, Strawberry shake I got it to go. Shake is proper, so thick its got to sit for like 10 minutes before it goes thru the straw. Onion rings here are great. My order came with a side of special sauce. I would come back. If I stay again in Beaver. read more

Driving through Utah and randomly picked Mel's to eat at. We ordered by phone for pick up and by the time we got there (15-20 mins) it was all ready for us to go in a box and labeled. We stopped for dessert. The menu was a little confusing but we got it figured out. My husband had a milkshake that was very thick and he said it was good - so positive credit for that. I was passing through on my way to Wyoming, and I found a well-reviewed, inexpensive motel on Yelp. This drive-in was about a block or two down the street from said motel, so I went and got something to take back to my room to eat. I ordered a chicken breast sandwich, a diet coke, and something called a "dole whip." We don't have those where I come from. I inquired about it, and ordered one. WOW! Awesome! It is a pineapple concoction, somewhere between soft serve ice cream and Italian ice. I had mine along with vanilla soft serve icecream, in a twist. Absolutely delicious. It's just called the drive thru now. But there's some signs inside that say Mel's. We got the double cheese burger and both me and my husband loved it. Super delicious and the cheese complimented it really well. It's a more simple humble burger. Not quite in the fancy gourmet burger but the best non hoity toity burger. Would definitely order again. The fries were beer battered and really good. The shake was mediocre. Will come here again if we ever stop in beaver. read more

I'm pretty particular when it comes to fries and this place made them near perfect to my tastes. Really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with great flavor. I'd eaten here a couple of years ago while riding the Paiute Trail and stopped in again on our way back from Capitol Reef. I had a double cheese and that's about as big a burger as I can handle in one sitting. Also had some potato thingies called "Piccadillies", kind of a deep fried mashed potato tot, which were good and of course since you're in Utah it comes with "fry sauce" instead of ketchup. Hey when in Rome, right? Yeah, the place looks like it's been around awhile but it's off the freeway in a small town so I'd expect that profit margins aren't great. If you're looking for a good burger, this is one of the best I've had. Want something else? Their menu selection is huge. Why would you go on a long trip and stop to eat at McDonald's at the bottom of an off-ramp when there's already 3 franchises within walking distance of your home? Get out there and experience America before it all has the same corporate taste. Came because of the great Yelp reviews, was disappointed. There were flies. It wasn't that clean. It's basically it was a dive. There aren't even restrooms. It wasn't particularly fast and it was overpriced for what we got. The hamburgers were good in that they had fresh tomatoes, onions and fixings, but they weren't great. Same with the fries. I'd only go back for the ice cream. For some reason the McDonald's in Beaver is one of the dirtiest I've ever seen, so I hoped Mel's would replace it on our way back from Vegas. This evening I went to Mels for a burger. I specifically ask that they do not put onions or tomatoes. I happen to be alergic to onions . I get my food and bring it home. Just ready to take a nice bite and there was a strong onion oder coming from the burger. Opened it up and it's loaded with onion and tomato. So after dodging a Bullitt I take it back and ask for a refund. What I didn't expect was the attitude coming from the lady. She was being offensive right away and I said to her to get rid of the attitude at which point she threw it back at me. Is this what we are supposed to take anymore.
