Ambience has low lighting, chill country / classic rock chill type music, chairs are metal and benches are wood buy they give these cute cushy pillows for the bench seating. 6. Bar is long and full bar both from a alcohol mixology drink level as well as from a eat whatever you want level! 7. They either do karaoke or have live music bc they have a baby stage! 8. Food is savory and salty! Broiled oysters with bread crumbs and a piece of extra buttery garlic crostini. Worth the calories! Got the Cajun boil with lobster scallops shrimp and blackened catfish. Salty and very savory but a lol too much for one person probably best for 3-4. Would get this again and offset with bland veggies or something. Also got the grilled veggies and lobster Mac sides. Grilled veggies has an odd sour kind of taste and a bit over cooked. Not a fan. Lobster Mac is expensive for what you get. Taste was just ok. Prob wouldn't get this again either. 9. Service was fast and professional and kind happy people. 10. It's also a sports bar with five TVs. One is in a private type room. 11. Outside seating as well. Overall really well done and completely unexpected for the panhandle of Amarillo, TX! This is a great restaurant if you don't mind paying way too much for a good meal and waiting an hour and a half to be served! No kidding, 1.5 hours to get food while the staff intentionally stalled trying to ply our party with overpriced drinks . Portions were not necessarily that great either. At that point we were hungry and tired and didn't care anymore. I'm returning to Amarillo in February 24, and will request that our party Not return to this location. Made reservations early in the day but when we got there they put us in a back room apart from the experience of the music and ambiance and told us we were lucky to sit back there. Outdoor cushions and pillows lined the wall. Felt like we were in a storage room. A couple came in after us and had to move the table and chairs out from cushions just to sit down. All while the hostess stood and watched without helping. Food was bought out in 2 groups 8 minutes apart. Also they forgot one order and we waited for a waiter but had to go to the kitchen to find out what happened. Food sat on table for over 15 minutes till all our orders made it to the table. Disappointing meal at the DO. I had the "prime" ribeye which was no way a prime steak. I asked for medium rare to medium. It was well done, but that is too expected as it was thin! It was served with zucchini that was also sliced paper thin, thus it was mushy. The server took my wine without asking me, and I still had wine in the glass. The calamari was excellent. For a party of 2, $135. Wouldn't recommend going there...Saltgrass is better. One more thing...to add insult to an expensive steak, it was served on a luke warm skillet. Incredible first experience. Our Server Derek was amazing. The food was incredible . My husband got the seafood boil. He said it was the best seafood he's ever had. He's from Maine. That's saying something. I got the Alfredo. It was creamy and with just the right amount of heat. Delicious. We booked Valentine's Day reservations while we were there. Our party of four ate at Drunken Oyster on Saturday night - and this may be our last time eating there..... We ordered drinks and two appetizers which came out quickly and were delicious. But then the dining experience went downhill from there --- two of us ordered the special for that evening - New York strip with shrimp bisque and steamed broccoli. The other two in our group ordered a pasta bowl and a filet mignon....my steak was cold but cooked properly - medium rare. Shrimp bisque underneath the steak and broccoli was not seasoned but tasted like day old shrimp were blended up with a tomato...not a flavor that should be served with steak or anything!! My husband loves Cajun pasta - but his pasta wasn't cooked properly and there was hardly any sauce on the noodles. He was served a dry piece of bread that could have served as a very handy paper weight. Dessert menu was presented to us and we all ordered crème brûlée with a cup of coffee....we found out that they had run out of coffee....both decaf and regular!!!! We were disappointed at most of the experience - good thing we enjoyed our friends and the drinks that evening!!! PS - the band played some amazing jazz music! read more

Want to be fancy restaurant on one side and sports bar types whooping and hollering on the other side. Food arrived quickly compared to the attentiveness of wait staff considering it was fairly quiet and took a while to place an order. I am not typically so petty but the silverware was absolutely terrible! I have seen plastic utensils of higher quality than that! The food and drinks were so good! I sat at the bar, and Daniel helped me through the menus and provided excellent service throughout the evening! I had the N'awlins rice bowl (small portion for the price, but it was sooooo good!) The drinks I tried were N'awlins mule, Blood and Sand, and Sweet tea gin and tonic. Ice cream sandwich beignets made a great dessert. There was a live band when we were there (Saturday night). This was take out. The food overall was ok. Except I thought the calamari was way overpriced for what I received. The N'Awlins Fr a Diavolo did not seem to be tomato based but more of a white wine. If the service would have been good this would have been a 5 Star review. The problem was our waiter. When we sat down, we asked about the oysters. He didn't know much so we just got the sampler platter to try them all so we could just point to the ones we wanted bc he couldn't tell us what the names of them were. While we were waiting for the oyster sampler, I asked for a bottle of Champagne & a Cognac, NEAT. I watched them climb up the whole bar wall on the ladder looking for the one champagne bucket they couldn't find. Eventually they found it & served the champagne on ice, which was not previously chilled. The Champagne was indeed hot & the Cognac he brought me was on the rocks. The waiter, kept saying things like, "roger that" & "copy that" when I asked if they had a certain Cognac he replied "negative" the rest of the conversation was "roger that" & "negative" my hubby finally got pissed & ask if he was a pilot. Then, he disappeared quietly. Then he comes back with the platter of oysters. I ask, "which one is this" pointing at the smallest oyster. This is when it got really "negative." He actually reached down & picked up the oyster with his hand & turned it upside down spilling the oyster liquid gold all over the table & my plate. Hubby's mouth dropped open & I knew right then & there it was about to get real "negative" for him. So, I say calmly, "please don't do that, please don't do that again. Please, don't touch our food, copy that?" We tossed the oyster aside that he touched, he left & didn't come back. We enjoyed the broiled oysters so much we ordered them twice & the farm to table salad was excellent. The champagne was nice, once it got cold & the Cognac was fine once I took the ice cubes out. However, The wannabe pilot talkin waiter that put his hands on our food was a complete disaster & desperately needs some food safety classes on how to serve to the public. This place is cute, I'll give Celebrity Chef Rory that! However I didn't come to a place that claims to "transport you to the heart of the French Quarter" for just "cute". The lighting and ambiance was perfect. The dining room wasn't too loud, too bright nor dark, nor too crowded. The decor matched that of other southern establishments I frequented while l lived in Daphne, AL. The servers were quite attentive and very friendly/chatty! This is where "cute" didn't do it for us, though (nor did the server's "reassurance" that the establishment was owned by a celebrity chef who had been on Food Network). We ordered: fried green tomatoes, Cajun kitchen gumbo, and the seafood boil. I did inquire about their west coast oysters but decided against any since the staff could only describe their oysters as either plump or briny. Fried Green Tomatoes - These had a breading similar to flaky chicken tenders, which was new to me but I was indifferent to it. The spicy remoulade did have a decent kick to it. Standard flavor, standard sauce. Can't complain--we both liked the appetizer! Cajun Kitchen Gumbo - The gumbo came in a bread bowl which was a nice touch. It also had great flavor...if we had ordered a beef stew. Gumbo is a hard dish to nail down, mainly because you can't just mix any ratio of butter/flour together and cook it for any amount of time and call it roux. Stick to easier-to-fake dishes. Seafood Boil - Crawfish season typically starts around this time of year, which I was very excited about, seeing the establishment featured Cajun seafood boils!! I miss the weather and the food, namely the snapper, gator, and CRAWFISH. Perhaps I got too excited, though. How do I explain it best?... it was more lackluster than a seafood boil out of Nebraska from a Nebraskan who had never left the Midwest. Was there Cajun spice sprinkled on top? Sure there was. However, the too-sweet flavor of the crawfish is a sure giveaway the crawfish was pre-boiled and not boiled in Cajun spices, or at least not long enough. Even the shrimp tasted like it had already been cooked in just water and then tossed in seasonings. Don't believe me? Suck the seasoning off the shrimp and give it a try--guarantee you won't taste anything other than an everyday shrimp. Also, can't say I've ever seen baby octopi and calamari in a boil before... Drunken Oyster tried, I can't say they didn't. However, this New York-hailing, celebrity chef-owned establishment should stick to "cute" southern, Cajun-fusion dishes and leave the staples to the folks in Louisiana, 'Bama, and Georgia who do still have an idea of what real Cajun flavor ought to taste like. read more

We dined at Drunken Oyster on Sunday for brunch. The service was slow but not unacceptable. The atmosphere was really nice. But neither of those made up for the food being horrible. We had three people dining and two of the meals were prepared incorrectly. On both the eggs were ordered over easy and came out fried very hard. We sent both back and they replaced the egg. The croque madam was possibly the worst I have ever had. Flavors were not right, texture was thick and mushy. Manager did take off one entree, of course the cheaper one, but just expected that the egg was the only issue. This place pretends to be high end, chargers like they are high end, but execution is no better than Denny's. read more
