We really wanted to love this little bistro! First, I do want to point out that their appetizers(at least the ones we got) were great. I recommend the Brussel sprouts and charcuterie plate. Service was just ok, it took us quite a while to get our drinks and were never asked if we wanted refills/seconds. Sadly, my friend and I both ordered the braised pork entrée. Mine had no seasoning whatsoever and my friend's came out ice cold. When we asked the manager to take the cold plate back, he was argumentative. We even had him touch the bottom of the plate and he said it was hot(when it was obviously not). Overall, I would say this was not the best experience. With the little things that were good, I'm hoping the rest was maybe just a one-time miss. For the prices they are charging and attitude of the manager, I'm not sure I'd give them a second chance. read more

We dine here every trip we take to the wine country. The food and service is always excellent and we always have a great time conversing with the waiter...whose name I can't remember right now, but he has been there awhile. We had a potato leek soup which was the best I have ever tasted. I had a French Dip and it was tasty as well...the fries were outstanding. My husband had the fish and chips, which was back on the menu after a hiatus. He said that the batter wasn't as light as he remembered. The fist time here and seeing bistro with white tablecloths was a good sign for for me. Then came the service which I found to be very attentive (if could request Matthew as our waiter all the time, would be wonderful)! Our food came in a timely manner (we ordered appetizers), and all of it was perfect. Used to be our favorite in wine country. We decided to go despite recent reviews. Sad to say the reviews were correct. Many missing menu items, food very overpriced for mediocre quality, staff way understaffed. No follow up as food was served, never saw our server again after our order was taken. Waited over 20 minutes to get our check before went to the front desk to ask for our check. So sad to see this gem go downhill. Definitely not the highlight of the trip. Food and decor are very dated. Small plates were pretty good. The charred Brussels sprouts and the burrata were both solid. The truffle fries were tasty but a ridiculously small portio . However, the elk ragu, which was a menu feature and recommended by the server, was inedible. This is a real good spot to go to get some good food in between all the wine tasting you are probably doing in Dundee. It is a nice space with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating so good for all year round. To start I got the serrano margherita to drink and it was very good as it was refreshing and had a good spice to it. We got the crispy brussel sprouts to share as a table and they were solid. My meal was a plank grilled salmon with an array of accompaniments. It was very well balanced as the creme frache paired nicely with the saltiness of the pancetta and the mushrooms and salmon were both seasoned well. I liked the different textures in the dish too. I went with my grandparents and gf and they all got pasta. My grandparents don't like a lot of spice so they made some modifications removing things like chilis from their pasta but I would love to try some of their pasta with everything included. I looked at the waiters carrying out the pizza and that also looked like something I'd like to try. To finish I wasn't particularly hungry anymore so i just got some banana ice cream and it was very good and a nice way for me to finish the meal. My family and I were out visiting wineries in the area and my brother happened to find this place on Yelp....sounded good.....so we went to try it out. For a second there I thought I was at a Napa Valley wine country California cuisine restaurant. Not a huge restaurant, but medium sized, and provides both indoor and outdoor patio seating.....the outdoor patio looked lovely to dine at on a nice day, but we opted to sit inside as it was getting a bit warm and humid......inside was pretty empty of people except for a couple of people sitting and dining at the bar counter overlooking the open kitchen. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and were immediately seated at a nice and private booth. For such a relatively small place, the menu is actually quite extensive, offering lots of delicious choices from various appetizers, salads, pastas, to hand-tossed pizzas, to burgers/sandwiches, and a host of mains.....desserts on a separate menu....and yes, they do serve alcohol here. There are also options for gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian diners. We mostly ordered items to share as everyone wanted to taste a bit of everything....so we went ahead and ordered a Funghi Pizza, Oregon Ling Cod Fish & Chips, Cascade Natural Grass Fed Burger (requested medium done), Crispy Brussels (Brussels Sprouts), Hand Cut (truffle) Fries, Mixed Salad, Cheese Plate (with soft, medium, and hard cheeses), and a Creme Brulee for dessert. Other than the burger and cheeses, I got to try everything else, and we all agreed that the food here was totally d'lish! What really stood out to me was, firstly, the crispy Brussels Sprouts......perfectly fried and crisp.....and tasted so good! Other places I'd ever had this appetizer, it'd be either too overdone, too greasy, too drenched in sauce and mushy, etc., but not here.....perhaps the best crispy Brussels Sprouts I'd ever had! The fish and chips were very good too....perfectly crisp fried batter....not too thick, not too greasy, and the cod fish so moist and flaky. The pizza was very good too.....this was actually my choice, and I was very happy I chose it. Ok, service was nice and friendly, but not as attentive as we would have preferred......I guess everybody was sitting outside and most of the servers' attention was focused there......oh well. First & LAST time to visit Dundee Bistro NOT because of the food but ONLY for the poor service by an employee who was not even our waiter. After asking him a simple question in passing, his rude response "I'm just too busy right now" while continuing to mumble things under his breath while obviously being pissed off about something, really soured the mood of our dinner. Once we reported the behavior, he returned with a half-assed apology blaming "a table of 14 pregnant women". It was appalling. Because of this experience, I felt it was needed to report MATTHEW's distasteful service. You should be embarrassed because your actions not only reflect your character but also your peers and the reputation of the restaurant. With that said, I do want to applaud Tristan, our actual waiter, for the evening. We have been coming here for years. The food, service, ambiance has always been above excellent. It has been about 6 months maybe more since we have been in. And as always, the waitress was fantastic, and the service and friendliness was above and beyond. The food, however...we were very disappointed by a restaurant we have never been disappointed by before. It appeared that the menu had changed since we had last been in. Our favorite Dundee fillet was still on the menu, but we decided to try something new. My husband had the ribeye steak with the pavee potatoes and I had the lamb. The lamb was breaded and deep fried, which was different but executed poorly. There was no flavor and it was overdone. The ribeye that my husband ordered was incredibly tough and lacked any seasoning or flavor at all. The pavee potatoes which with some herbs and some seasoning might have been delicious were just potatoes. Rather flavorless. The only thing on my plate that I found to be delicious were the vegetables. Again, I want to emphasize that the service and the atmosphere is wonderful. The people are all friendly and accommodating. But I'm afraid that the food was nowhere near the excellent level that we had come to expect. I don't know if maybe there's been a change in chef, but whatever has changed with regard to the food has not been an improvement and if nothing else, has lowered the bar quite a bit. We will come back and try again as every restaurant can have an off night. I hope it's better because we would miss this place. read more

I am always looking for a nice place to bring guests who visit wine country. I'm sad to say that I've been disappointed by the food and service here three times and am taking it off my list. On our most recent visit, the restaurant didn't have the bottle of wine we ordered; the food runner brought the wrong entree to someone at my table and then proceeded to hand her the wrong entree to eat, with the explanation that the server entered it wrong, so tough luck; the food was bland across the board (dry swordfish, anyone?); and our server didn't show up until 15 minutes into the meal once the food was delivered. I worked in the restaurant industry for a decade and found every element of this place to be meh. For the price and ambiance, the service should be better and the food tastier. read more

I can best describe my experience here by saying that I almost burst into tears in the middle of lunch. We have only been out to eat a few times because of Covid and we were so looking forward to a memorable meal. We had been to the Bistro in the past and I picked it for my birthday lunch, hoping to sit outside on the nice patio. But it was too cool so we sat inside. We planned on going all out--cocktails, meal, dessert. The $13 hibiscus sour, a specialty drink, arrived in a tiny wine glass. I wondered if there was even the standard two ounces of liquor in the glass. I love gin and I couldn't taste the gin or the lime. It was neither sour nor sweet, and the hibiscus just gave it an odd flavor, not the floral note I expected. It was a glass of nothing. The gin and tonic came in a small highball glass. I don't believe they are serving standard-sized cocktails. Then a very small serving of the prawn bucatini arrived. I knew it was overpriced at $28 but this was a special occasion. I took a bite and all I could taste was some type of bitter pesto. I hadn't paid enough attention to the detail that this was arugula pesto, but what chef thinks arugula would make a good pesto? There was supposed to be parmesan reggiano but it had no flavor of that, no saltiness whatsoever from the cheese. It was basically bucatini coated in something bland that didn't complement the five prawns. That's when I felt a little teary--I was so disappointed. I didn't want to take the chance on dessert or give them any more of our money, but my partner ordered creme brulee. I took a taste and it was good. I wish I had read recent reviews first but I was going by past experiences. I don't know what's gone wrong at the Bistro but I feel taken advantage of. It wasn't just a bad lunch. We have dined her a few times over the years, and after coming here twice this past week while visiting the area, I felt like I needed to finally write a review. First of all, the environment is a casual, laid back and comfortable. People are dressed for wine tasting, some are dressed casually for the weather, this place is not pretentious at all. The service is really good, attentive and approachable. But the reason we come back here over and over again is the outstanding food. Our first visit this week, I had the arugula salad and my partner had the winter salad. Both were fresh, refreshing and dressed perfectly. For entrees, I had the scallop risotto and he had the shrimp pasta. I was in love at first bite. The risotto was delicious, the scallops were cooked perfectly and the entire dish was completely satisfying, I was also pleased to find out it was cheese free, as I try to avoid dairy if I can. My partner said his pasta had a bit of a kick to it (because it had chili flakes in it), and he really enjoyed it. We shared a bottle of Ponzi wine with dinner, and left satisfied and full. We returned three days later for lunch, intending to get pizza, but when the waitress asked to take our order, neither one of us could resist and we had the same entrees as before. Both came out just as good as the first time. Which is something to note, this place provides consistent food every time we dine here. read more

Feel very disappointed for the restaurant. For the price we paid for the food, we deserved better food and service. My husband ordered Black Truffle Pasta, the dish is served without truffle, just plain pasta. Later they brought a plate of truffle power to let us add in. I ordered a pizza to share with my kids. Before I ordered I specially ask the server whether the pizza is spicy and she said no. However it is spicy and has no flavor. After talking to the service, she offered a plain pizza for the kid. We thought it is a complementary one to show sorry, however she charged it at the end. The reason is we had more than half of the pizza. Our wine guide recommended this place so we decided to pop in for lunch on a quiet Tuesday after most of the wine trippers had headed back to work. Even on a Tuesday, but 12:30 this place had filled up so it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a reservation. For lunch we decided to share the grilled Cesar salad which has slightly charred with a tangy dressing underneath. For our main we shared a spicy sausage, onion and pepper pizza with a great crackery crust. Perfect for two for lunch. And because strawberries are in season we added the strawberry shortcake as a sweet treat. Very good food and nice service too. read more

My new go to after wine tasting in the area. Knew that they had a Happy Hour at the bar from 3:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m.. Who doesn't love a happy hour? Sat at the bar and was served by the delightful Bryanna. She made a few recommendations from the happy hour menu and we decided to go with it. It was ok. Table of 4. Companion's mashed potatoes were cold and my rigatoni undercooked. The waiter tried to tell me I didn't understand it was "al dente'. Excuse me, I KNOW what al dente means and how it should taste. He said they could redo it. What they did was throw it in the microwave and it came back nuclear hot a couple minutes later. I never send back food twice so I just ate a few bites and gave up. The bolognese sauce absolutely flavorless. Definitely suffering from poor cooking techniques and being able to serve food at proper temperatures. The Brussels sprouts were excellent. Wouldn't waste my time and money by returning. How insulting to just nuke my meal and call it "remade". I've been here before and this place has gone downhill. read more

Dundee, Or. Dropped in here for a late lunch around 2:00. The place was surprisingly busy, especially on the outside patio where we dined. I decided to try the burger. I'm pretty critical about burgers, and this one was good, maybe slipped into the bottom of my top ten. Meat was tasty with a traditional ground chuck flavor. The chef isolated the bottom bun with a piece of lettuce to protect it from excess moisture. The puck was a bit thin for a great burger, maybe 3/4 inch at the thickest. Part of this maybe my doing as I ordered it medium well. Medium would have been a better choice. The menu claimed the burger had applewood cured bacon which I love but this burger had zero bacon. Bun was lightly toasted and held up well. Potato's (Fries) were great and the four of us easily did away with two orders. Gnocchi was very tasty but perhaps a tad small portion wise. Garden salad: Excellent. Kale salad was delicious with nuts and berries. Charcuterie was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and played the role of one excited about every dish very well. We had dinner here and it was quite delicious. The brussel sprouts were cooked wonderfully. The filet was tender and tasty. I had asparagus and mashed potatoes as well. For dessert my friend and I ordered a chocolate torte and a cheesecake. I thought the torte was terribly dry and the cheesecake just didn't have enough of the strawberry topping for my liking. I want to be kind because of covid and the additional stresses it's had on restaurants in particular. This was our first restaurant experience since covid started. Place seemed nice and the food was very good. The service, however, was not. We were apparently at the invisible table. Several times we had to flag someone down. We were seated and got appetizers and no silverware or napkin-had to ask a busboy for it. There was a bug in the water jug. The second jug was dirty. Other tables got bread and butter to start, we did not. I asked for a drink and never got it. Waitress tried to bring it at the end of the meal when I reminded her. It was all very disappointing and frustrating, especially for how much we were paying for our meal. Even though the food was tasty, we won't be back. :( read more

Just excellent. Great service, great food. Good wine. Made a reservation for six on Saturday night around 5:30. Had been tasting wine off and on since 11am. We visited Archery Summit, Stoller, Durant, Carlton Winemakers Studio and Red Ridge Farms. Upon arrival at The Bistro we were quickly seated in a great booth with cozy benches and a great private space. The wait staff was prompt and informative. He allowed us to sip many of the wines before we decided on our selection. We all ordered salads for our first course. I had the baby lettuce with blue cheese dressing. Excellent. My friends ordered the Kale with grapefruit. Also excellent and the kale was treated perfectly as to lesson the toughness. Our mains were spaghetti with prawns with a kick and the salmon. We all enjoyed it very much. The pasta dish had just the perfect amount of sauciness and provided an extra kick with the red pepper flakes. The salmon was cooked just to the point of flaky ness without being dry. Will bring friend here again. Extra end of the day feast. read more

My friend wanted to go to the Allison for her birthday dinner, but we couldn't get in. I suggested Dundee Bistro and now I am embarrassed that I did. We have had really good meals here, but on this night, the restaurant really missed the mark. We were a 10 top, there to celebrate our lovely friend. We were the last table seated that night, following another large table. We were told in advance that the kitchen closes at 7:30, so we were all aware that we needed to order quickly for our 6:45 reservation. Our waiter (normally very good) seemed a little frazzled and it took about 40 minutes to get our cocktails. It was around 7:30 when our dinner order was taken. Both entrees that my husband and I decided on were sold out and instead of the lower priced rib eye, my husband had to order the filet. He ordered it rare to medium rare. We were both disappointed, as I had wanted the swordfish and settled for salmon. What was much worse that being disappointed was the actual food that was served to us. His $50 something filet came well done and hardly edible. This could have been corrected had someone inquired about how we liked our food. We spent about $230 just the two of us, so I imagine that this bill was over $1200 with the wine and appetizers for the group. With there being such great restaurants in the area, I'm sorry to say we wont likely be back. read more

Artisan meat & cheese plate; seasonal accompaniments: Madrona, tommede savoie, and iris cheeses served with coppa meat and quince. Bread is complimentary. A nice light starter for lunch. 2. Grass fed burger served with truffle fries served medium: Delicious! Good portion. Burger prepared well. No complaints. Loved the fries! I would order this again. 3. Pizza special of the day: embarrassingly enough I forgot the exact name of the pizza. However, I DO remember it was absolutely delicious! Essentially it was a sausage pizza with onions and bell peppers. SERVICE: Very good. The server was a friendly and knowledgeable young man. He gave us sufficient time to look over the menus, provided water refills and extra napkins, and checked on us periodically throughout our meal. Surprisingly the weather changed from bright and sunny to overcast during the course of our lunch. I applaud the staff for working well together to move customers still in the midst of lunch to tables in the restaurant. Thankfully, we were finished with our meal during this mass exodus, and our server was kind to expedite the payment of our check. We made it to the car just in time before a slight downpour began. My family has been coming here pretty happily for years. Dundee has a split personality, so you either go high end (Dundee Bistro, Tina's or Farm to Fork) or there are five or six casual places in town. Dundee Bistro is definitely upscale and they charge a premium. I know that going in and they've always delivered. It is in the heart of wine country, so they have an appropriately immense wine list. 60+ Oregon pinot noirs as well as many other local and international selections. If you bring your own bottle they charge a $15 corkage fee and ask that the wine not be on their menu. Although I don't feel the need to drink wine with a meal here since I've usually been wine tasting all day. No mas! They have a relatively small menu, but our most recent items were both winners. The Porchetta pizza and Carlton Farms pulled pork sandwich. When I say my family enjoys this place, I do tend to mean the older members of my family who are usually accompanied by out of town guests. If you are a younger couple, you would probably have more fun at another location. Consider this for a nice meal with the folks. read more

Both did not finish there servings. Very starchy with the whole grain noodles and NO sauce. My margherita pizza was good but the center on the dish collected moisture so the crust was limp. This restaurant is under rated. We spend a few days in willamette valley and had dinner at three local restaurants, The Dundee Bistro, in my opinion, has the best food, best service and best prices. She ordered the halibut. Her plate was so clean at the end of lunch it looked like she licked it off. My burrata was wonderful. The cheese was creamy, the tomatoes sweet. My dog had a wonderful time. Yesterday a group of friends and I went wine tasting in the area. After hitting up two wineries we decided to drop in to Dundee Bistro for lunch before heading over to Argyle. There were 6 in our party and we were seated immediately! Our server came over and told us about all the specials, got our drinks. For appetizers we shared the brussel sprouts, truffle fries, and the burrata special they had. The brussel sprouts were to die for! I'm sort of new to the brussel sprout scene as I just started liking them... but they were amazing. The crispiness really elevates the texture and taste! The truffle fries were also good... all they needed was some garlic aioli. The aioli we got was sort of flavorless. I had such a hard time deciding what to order for lunch... everything looked fantastic! I wanted pasta and pizza. I got the best of both worlds when others ordered pasta and I knew that I could snag a bite. So margherita pizza it was for me! I got to taste the carbonara (and again, no expert here... it was my first trying it!) I'm not one for egg yolks, but goodness... it was great. My pizza was good as well. Only thing that could have made it better was if the basil was in smaller pieces. All in all... no real complaints! Will definitely stop by again when I'm out going to wineries! read more
