This was our first experience eating at a restaurant in our new COVID-19 world. After 3 months of take out only it was nice to be able to sit (outdoors) at a restaurant. We made a reservation for 5:30 since that was all that was available prior to 8:30pm. Our visit was The Edge's first night reopening since closing due to the COVID-19 shutdown. The outdoor tables were adequately spaced to ensure social distancing and the umbrella was fine for keeping the mist off of us but would not work well during heavy precipitation. There is a larger tented area in the back, as well. The whole dining out with PPE and distancing is going to be a learning curve for staff and guests. Most guests wore masks as they walked to the hostess stand and their tables. There were a few that did not and walked within inches of our table. The table next to us recommended to the manager to move the tables closer to the building a foot or two to allow servers more room to stand. The food was very good and I was impressed with the portion size for my seafood paella. Drinks were $12-14 each and we're mad well but you can run up your bill quickly. The bread pudding dessert was amazing! The reopened The Edge is a nice re-addition for Jackson since there are not really any other "high-end" restaurants in Jackson. read more

Terrible experience on St. Valentine's Day. We had a reservation for 8 PM for two people. We ordered 4 pieces of grilled lamb chops and 1 burrata cheese spread with toasts for our appetizers, along with 2 margaritas. For our main course, we ordered filet mignon with lobster tail and a cowboy steak with lobster tail. Our appetizers arrived only at 9 PM. We finished them quickly as we did not order much, but after patiently waiting for our food, we simply couldn't wait any longer. The atmosphere deteriorated, and the waiter, instead of addressing the delay, seemed to intentionally avoid us. Despite the special occasion and the apparent busyness, I politely requested the check and for our main courses to be packed to go at 9:50 PM. It took another 15-20 minutes to receive both the check and our food. The bill came to $254 and some change, which I suppose is acceptable for a Valentine's Day dinner, but the food quality was mediocre. Upon arriving home (we live across the street from the restaurant), I discarded my steak as it was subpar, and the lobster tail seemed either precooked long before the dinner or overcooked, resembling rubber. I paid the bill with $300 in cash, and despite the waiter being aware of the issues we faced with the delay in getting our food, he didn't even inquire if I wanted the $46 change back or at least return it and let me decide. Honestly, he would have received the remainder regardless, but the way it all transpired simply ruined our evening. In summary, our past experiences at this restaurant were also disappointing, but we always hoped to give it another chance. However, this Valentine's Day was our final attempt. From now on, despite living nearby, we will drive as far as necessary to dine at establishments offering similar prices but with vastly superior food and service. read more

Most inviting "non-waterfront" venue in the Monmouth/Ocean County area! Drinks at the bar provided by engaging and knowledgeable servers. Then move on to our table... we were greeted by our server, ChiChi, who could not possibly be more congenial, gracious and downright adorable! She knew the menu and was happy to direct us to the perfect complement of appetizers and entrees. All were beautifully plated, temperature perfect, delicious and ample. We finally had the opportunity to check out this restaurant. The hype was big for this place based on how long it took to open. We went on the burger night. The deal requires you to sit at the bar area only and you get one burger option, fries, and a beer on a selected menu. First the place is gorgeous. It's appealing for sure! The large double doors, waterfalls on glass, fire, lounge seating, it really has that upscale feel we don't have in this town. With the burger night option, my wife is on a Keto diet and they did substitute a bigger salad for no fries and no bun, but we had to fight that a little with the waiter. Seems no substitutions were allowed. We tried the Veal Meatball appetizer which include grits and cheese. You could barley taste the grits due to how thin it was, but was tasty. Not a wow meal, just fine. The burger was a hit and miss. The burger was not cooked to the right temperature for anyone at the table. In the picture, you can tell that is not a medium burger and feedback from others is the temperatures are not always on point here. I think you need to order above your normal temperature of meat here. Also, the bun on the bottom was soggy from all the juice from the meat. The positive is the burger itself. Very juicy and nice size. I enjoyed the crispy fries. The burger has an aïoli on top, but didn't taste much because it was absorbed in the bun. It's best to have the burger with no bun and asking for extra aioli on the burger. Overall, the place is FINE. Its definitely a high price meal, but for me, it won't be my first option. I live 3 minutes from here, and I would travel to other locations for meals. I will go back and try the main menu, but it would need to be for a special occasion. Also, the fact you have to sit in a certain area for the deal never makes sense to me. Definitely give it a chance. read more

Upon Entering the establishment there are two sets of tall beautiful wooden doors. We were promptly greeted by two hostesses a table wasnt ready for us so we sat at the bar . The decor inside is simply amazing wood grain floors beautiful hanging lights televisions around the entire bar and beautiful artwork . We ordered two appetizers as per our server Braden request . Both outstanding . Our entrees we're both prepared to perfection . We were greeted by the owner and the GM. Highly classy move in a restaurant . Makes you feel very welcomed . The prices were extremely reasonable and I also had almond milk for my cappuccino. This being my second visit to The Edge and I found it very nice. This was the last night of the soft opening so I missed the bar menu which starts tomorrow. Anyway we sat at the bar for a couple of drinks and the three of us made our way to our table. I ordered the beef pappardelle and a side of mashed potatoes for the table. The pappardelle was very good as was the mashed potatoes. There are enough potatoes in this side dish for three or four people. We also ordered a side of fries. I tried them and they were good albeit a bit greasy and you didn't get very much for your $7or $8. The service was excellent as it was the last time I was here but the only complaint was both my pasta and potatoes were not very warm. Another entrée at the table had to go back because it too was not acceptably warm. I'm wondering if the kitchen can't keep up now while there's few patrons, how are they going to do when it's mobbed? We have waited a VERY LONG TIME for the Edge to finally open up. After many false starts they finally opened their doors On Oct. 2nd. Currently they are open and serving strictly by reservation; no walk-ins. This was an extremely wise move on management's part to work out the kinks and not be overwhelmed with crowds of which there would have been plenty. As it turned there was plenty of room for our party of 6 & several other patrons. The ambiance inside is beautiful & there is a large waterfall between the bar & the dining areas. We met our group at the bar & the hostess was very accommodating in giving us time to have a cocktail before dinner. This is quite the classy restaurant & not like anything else in the Jackson/Howell area. We were escorted to our table where Jimmy, our very personable waiter, offered us menus & proceeded to tell us about some of the dishes offered. I chose the the beet salad which we shared & the hanger steak for dinner. Strange as it may seem I do not like beets, however I am willing to try. I have had some that I thought tasted great on rare occasions. This was definitely one of those occasions. My hanger steak came out hot, & was cooked medium rare (exactly as I had ordered it) Both were exceptional! Danielle, who also assisted at the table with drinks, couldn't have been sweeter. They have a few craft beers on tap, unheard of in most high end restaurants. I thought prices were a bit high however, considering the quality of the food, worth it. As Tim T. mentioned in his review, we will need to see if they can keep up after the full opening of the restaurant. I certainly hope so & will be back to find out for sure! We came here for Valentines Day thinking nothing but the best. We were a bit disappointed - both entrees were overly salty. Everything on the plate was salted way too much. I think I ate more bread then I did my entree. My salmon ceviche was overly acidic - the flavors weren't well balanced at all. The dessert was pretty good. The Ambiance is wonderful. Live, light music, waterfall, firewall. The food was amazing. I had Lobster risotto with asparagus and charred brussel sprouts. Gelato sorbet flight for dessert/Delicious Was shared between the 3 of us. Only complaint? Train the young man who constantly interrupted our conversation to try to clear everything we were still eating and drinking!! It became actually comical. Two bites into my meal he asked if I was finished! I finally let him take it away when I was actually still enjoying it so he would stop asking. He did the same with our wine glasses and dessert. The place was not at all crowded but we felt very rushed by him. Our waitress was knowledgeable and professional and sweet. Pleasant surprise when looking for a late night spot to grab a bite after visiting family in NJ. The venue is impressive and beautifully appointed when you walk in, large room with high end design. Waitress, Christine was professional and helped us pick our selections. Good list of wines, cocktails and craft beers. Surprisingly there was a live performer playing a guitar and entertaining the guests. All in all a solid meal and pleasant surprise on this first visit. Ok, wanted to like this place. I'm always looking for a good local place you can count on for nice ambience, food and service. This place was a total mess. The entrees came out about 40 minutes after we ordered. Ordered the Pastrami Tuna and the Short Rib Ravioli and it was ice cold by the time they brought it out. We let the waitress know, she was horrified, brought the same plate back to warm it up, and it came out still cold but also dried out. The waitress was very apologetic, took the drinks off the bill. Yes, but I must admit I wasn't absolutely blown away. spicy veal meatballs appetizer- very good, for the entree I ordered the cod special, the fish was cooked perfectly, however the sides that came with the dish were simply a bit bland didn't make for a cohesive meal, and I really wanted to enjoy the meal it just altogether lacked something. A sauce could have made all the difference, it just wasn't as flavorful of a meal as I had hoped, especially considering it was their special of the night. We only drove 20 minutes to get there, so I wasn't disappointed, just wasn't blown away. Maybe I'd have to try other things on the menu and that would change my opinion. My boyfriend,on the other hand, loved his steak. So all in all, I feel that with some tweaks and more careful consideration this could be a great place to visit, if local. First time dinning at The Edge in Jackson, NJ, went for New Years Eve. They had a prix fix menu, four courses with a bottle of champagne for 2 for $125.00 per person, link to the menu to follow. We were a party of 4. Actually it was Prosecco, which is a sparkling wine (1st boo boo) and not offered when we sat down. Rather we were offered water and "would you like a cocktail?" I had a Makers Mark old fashion $14.00 good, the 2 ladies had Tanqueray & tonic w/lime, good, they each had 2, $10 each, the other gentleman had a glass of Merlot $12. First cours, choice of Lobster Bisque or Ceasar salad. One diner had the bisque, very good, cream, but only 2 little pieces of lobster. 3 other had the Ceasars, small chopped romaine instead of ripped, bland, lacked that classic flavor, terribly needed black pepper which not offered when served. Second course, 2 had Calamari Fritto, was good but each portion would feed 3. 1 had Arancini, was ok, but she doesn't eat beef. 1 had the Birria Bao Bun, good nice flavor and a little spicy. Third course, I had the Pork Shank Osso Bucco, very good tender, garlic mash, good not enough, charred Brusse Sprout, over charred, that's all I could taste and bland, needed salt and pepper, Non On The Table, when asked was told they don use shakers...HUH? One lady had the Grilled Salmon, very good, the other had the Red Snapper Livornese, very good. Other gentleman had the Braised Short Rib, very good, nice flavor tender. Fourth course, 2 has the Edge cheesecake, good, but 1 was enough for 2. 2 others had the Creme Brulee, very small portion compared to the cheesecake, brulee was Not Crispy and the crème was not warm at all. Garnished with Lettie tomato and a pickle spear. You will not beat this burger. Hands down the best in Ocean County. The service is also great and we eat at the bar most times we visit. People are delusional and have no respect for restaurants, they gave you a reservation for 2 not 4. Anyway a review should be more than just a complaint about you not getting your way. 1 Star reviews have a large impact. The Edge has been great every time we have been. You will be hard pressed to find steaks at their quality and prices anywhere else. The restaurant is beautiful and makes you feel like you are in a NYC style bar. A restaurant with NYC atmosphere and quality in Jackson. You're seeing correctly, and it's not too good to be true. My wife and I recently moved to New Egypt, so I was looking around on Yelp for restaurants in the area. When The Edge popped up and I saw the photos, I was sure that it was a mistake. A restaurant that looks like it belongs in the city, but it's less than 20 minutes down the road from our rural house? We booked a reservation right away, and my eyes were not deceiving me. The space is beautiful. In my opinion, you can't beat the atmosphere anywhere else in the area. Coming from living in Jersey City for years, this place was perfect to help in my transition. The even better news is that the food matched up as well. My wife and I split a few items to get a taste for the menu. The Smoked Korean Baby Back Ribs were a highlight in my book, and I also enjoyed the burger. Service was extremely prompt, professional, and friendly, and we even spoke with the owner who was equally as friendly. Overall, I cannot wait to come back, especially after COVID. We were given a gift card to The Edge for a Christmas gift. Since our Anniversary is this week, we decided to have our anniversary dinner at The Edge. We are an older couple and were delighted that the seating was comfortable and well lit We made reservations on open table and that went well. The hostess was friendly. Once seated our waiter appeared quickly : Zack. He was delightful and ready to answer questions and recommend. My husband decided on the blue cheese sirloin and I had the Greek Bronzino. Both of these entres were delicious. We did order appetizers: I had the blackened tuna bites and my husband enjoyed the French onion soup. The tuna bites had a little heat and with a creamy side sauce it was divine. Since it was our anniversary we decided to share a dessert: edge bread puddin. It was awesome with vanilla gelato on top. The waiter placed a shooting sparkler into our dessert and on the plate was the silhouette of 2 champagne glasses etched in cinnamon. Then the owner came to the table and thanked us for coming to this restaurant and sharing our anniversary with them. That was so sweet. We were never rushed and we had a perfect anniversary dinner. My wife and I enjoyed dinner here a few times before Covid. Decided to make a reservation and return for Valentine's Day, 2024. Unfortunately, it was not the night I had hoped. After a lengthy wait, my wife's $15 strawberry salad and $52 lobster & scallop risotto dish were delicious. My $24 shrimp (4) cocktail appetizer was great, but my entrée of a 6 oz medium rare filet mignon ($52) was lukewarm; the $29 supplement lobster tail was cold as were the rigid mound of garlic-mashed potatoes, steamed asparagus and accompanying sauces. Attempts to get the server's attention was difficult as she was busy with many tables. By the time she did come to the table, my wife had almost finished her meal and I was no longer interested in eating. She did apologize and said I should've called her over sooner. I did tell her I tried. She offered to "comp" me a round of drinks. I told her that was not enough. I said I was not paying for the lobster tail and the check needed to be adjusted accordingly. She said I would have to speak to the manager and left to get him. After a few minutes, our server returned without the manager but shared that the manager would "comp" a round of drinks, (Manhattan cocktails were $19 each) and would take the cost of the lobster tail off the bill. My wife and I did share a dessert, but the total bill with the discounts (excluding the tip) was $205. My wife and I are not strangers to fine dining. The lack of appropriate number of servers, compounded with obvious issues in the kitchen in getting food out in a more timely manner was disappointing; especially since this is the only "fine dining" establishment in Jackson. There will not be a repeat performance; it's just too expensive of a risk. I'll return to the Metropolitan or The American Hotel in Freehold. read more

First and definitely not the last time I'll be coming here. The service amazing and food is THE BEST. I came here for my mothers birthday with my dad and we had an awesome time! The waitress Brianna was amazing, and very attentive. Our drinks were always filled we never had to ask for refills. I want to start off by saying this is a hidden little gem in Jackson that I had no idea existed. My friend and I went there on Saturday night for dinner. I wish I would have thought to take pictures but unfortunately I didn't. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The flooring is reclaimed wood, the bar is huge with a beautiful waterfall panel. The atmosphere is top notch. They do have an outdoor dining area with the heating lamps if you prefer to dine outside. We however choose to eat inside. My friend knew the owner Phil and his wife who came over to us and introduced themselves to me. Very nice people I might add, and Phil's lovely wife had given us some history on the building out of the restaurant and the reason that I knew they used reclaimed wood for the flooring and other attributes of the restaurant. Due to the new Covid-19 world we find ourselves living in these days, I am pleased to say that all staff (owners included) all wore masks and seating was compliant with the 6 feet social distancing. Ok now onto the menu. I chose the lamb lollipops (cooked medium) and a side of mashed potatoes. I think there were 5 lollipops in my order which is the perfect amount for me. Absolutely delicious, and I finished off my meal with who could resist chocolate gelato. My guy had a steak and said it was delicious. The wait staff was top notch and answered all my questions (as I am the picky one) and checked back frequently to see if we needed anything else. I have family that lives close by to the Edge. Whenever we want crafted drinks and a savory meal we go here. Time and time again the food and drinks just get better.. I had almost everything on their menu and there is not one thing I wouldn't eat again. I do however look forward to their specials. The weekends seem to have a DJ and the bar fills up fast, but the Edge is a great place to go with couples or large groups of people. I don't send anything back for the most part but $18 for 3 bad scallops was not acceptable so I did send it back. They were good about it and made me meatballs. The meatball appetizer was very good. About five decent meatballs over mashed potatoes in a good sauce. My friend had the hanger steak. It came out pre-cut which was a weird presentation. It also came with a home made bbq sauce which I didn't think was very good. The service was bad because the bar was backed up significantly which is weird because the place wasn't that crowded.
