DEAL: We are so glad we met Lexi, who introduced us to The BAR ROOM + kitchen a fantastic restaurant and bar right in the heart of downtown! As luck would have it, she also works here, and we were welcomed by her friendly smile. Lexi is a fan of Brie's page too and loves using it as a go-to for dog-friendly spots! We grabbed a seat at one of the pet friendly outdoor tables out front, surrounded by tropical plants, and were served right away. The menu is full of fun, flavorful options, we highly recommend the Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts appetizer and the signature TBR Tea cocktail. Completely overpriced dive bar. $16 for two artichoke hearts plus a bunch of garbage cold veggies as 'filler' and horseradish (menu said garlic aioli) and asked for a couple grilled shrimp on the side, they gave me four battered/fried and charged $12 extra (wasn't told this at time of ordering). $13 sangria was half juice, though promised wine and two fruit liquors. Bar tender couldn't be bothered to serve me - sent over someone lower level in her place to take my order, never checked on me once she dropped off the food (otherwise I would've mentioned the disparity between expectations and what was received) and I had to interrupt her chatting (with, I think, a co-worker who came for a day-off bite) so I could get the check. When I expressed shock at what I was charged for the shrimp, not a single apology over the misunderstanding. Multiple flies around the table and food. Couldn't be more disappointed. read more

Everything comes out rather quick and accurate, with welcoming, attentive and friendly service. Place can feel a bit crowded because its so narrow, but sitting down isn't usually an issue. Love this local hole in the wall bar in deal nj. Its where all the cool locals gather. Place is on the small side. Great food choices and drinks are good as well. Jukebox music along with a few tv's across the top of the bar with whatever sports or horse racing might be happening at the time. Service is always great. This place is really cool! Some colleagues and I wanted a relaxing place to enjoy some food, drinks, and have a TV to watch the football game. The drink specials were great and there were 6 beers on draft. The food was very good as well which was a bonus for a small town bar. The food is much better than your average "bar" food. They have smaller plates for reasonable prices and larger entrees that cost more. The staff was very friendly which made us feel welcome in this small town considering we were all here for work. This bar has an old school jersey vibe with relaxing music and small crowds. This is definitely my type of bar and you should check it out. read more

Love this authentic and familiar family run bar room and kitchen. Luscious and delicious and creative menu with service that is welcoming, warm and spreads positive vibes. We came for a burger, and wound up with two seafood meals that were beyond delicious. This place is ok, but 4 stars + in my opinion it is not. I think these reviews must be based on regulars and those who don't leave the area much because there is nothing special about this establishment. I awarded 3 stars as it is not awful and the bartender service was supported by friendly staff, but the food is basic (we tried the wings, empanadas, and a side of fries) and subpar as were the cocktails. I don't live local but my better half and I like to visit small highly rated non franchise spots for "us" time so we tried this spot. We likely won't be back as our opinion stands at the rating is based on locals who don't like to travel outside the area to get a real 4 star + experience, but we were happy to give this small business a shot. read more

It seems unlikely that you would stumble on this bar/restaurant unless you live locally. Or perhaps you're at the shore in summer and someone you know recommends it. You more likely would dine in Asbury Park, LB, or Red Bank. Either way it's definitely worth checking out. It's pretty small so I highly doubt they will do reservations. Get there early or late. A very friendly vibe is evident here from both staff and patrons. Not being regulars here we were still treated like friends. Nice! Being small they only have maybe a half dozen taps. If you're looking for craft beers they regrettably only have Kane; but a good one at that. They have a nice eclectic menu with maybe a priority toward sandwiches. I ordered a blackened chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. It came with guacamole, lettuce and tomato, and pico de gallo. The fries were firm and weren't greasy, the chicken done perfectly in a not too spicy rub. Everything was out of the oven hot. Recommended. Nice local hangout (even in summer with the tsunami of orange plates who seem to take over everything). Stopped in again the other night and we did a bunch of appys/starters. The sweet chili calamari was fried perfectly and clean to the palette. Had the filet steak tips (only because they were sold out of the coconut curry mussels) which had a nice char, yet were medium rare on the final and very tasty. The sesame tuna taco is always a winner as are their chicken wings. Cocktail specials work for me. Stiff solid pours. Wait staff is there when you need them in this cozy little spot. Glad that we have this as a dining out option in high tourist season when everything gets so jammed. read more

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at this establishment last Wednesday evening. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately. There was a very deluxe, rich feel to the restaurant with none of the attitude. The wine list encompassed a fair range of grapes and vintages. Definite value here. We started with mussels and clams. The sauces were delicate and restrained. They served to enhance the shellfish, not overpower it. The portions were perfect for two people to share. The bread was so fresh it had steam coming off it. The broth alone could have been served as a soup.My wife had the steak. She ordered medium rare and it arrived just so. As a finale we had the Nutella Creme Brule. Superlative and a perfect end to the meal. What most impressed me was the fact this place was in our local area. You'd think you were in Midtown Manhattan. Have only been here once but according to my friends who brought me here, the place is always crowded. We arrived around 5:30 on a Sunday evening and there was only one table left (luckily we snagged it). Service was good despite there seeming to be one waitress waiting the entire place. Food came out fast! Definitely consider something on the specials menu as there are plenty of options. Three of us shared the burrata plate, two of us had the blackened tuna over kale salad and another had the Korean style spare ribs special. Went to a show at Axelrod theater which was nearby and dropped into this place for a bite. Excellent service and nice burger, fish sandwich and delicious calamari. Came here for the first time tonight, we ordered the seared tuna as a starter, which was ok. For dinner we had the avocado toast which was delicious. The burger we ordered without cheese, when it came out there was cheese, we mentioned it and the server brought it back to the kitchen, and it was out in seconds which was somewhat disappointing because instead of bringing out a fresh burger they scrapped off the cheese.
