We have driven by so many times and decided today's the day. Everything was absolutely amazing, including the service. Definitely look forward to going back. The mussels, were amazing, Brussels were crispy, the mozz was probably my favorite. We can't wait to try some entrees next time!

The Edison Grill. An Edison namesake branded lunch and dinner spot in Harwington. From the logo to the rug to the signage, it commits to the theme. When you walk in, you are delighted with Red/Black decor and various "vintage" looking signage across the restaurant. The pickup window (maybe added during COVID) is cleverly placed in the waiting room/entrance, where you can also sit to wait for seating. This place gives you an experience visually. So how does the food stack up? Great, actually. I got the BBQ Brisket from the Handhelds section, and my wife ordered the wings from the Starters. Both were delicious. The BBQ brisket comes on a Ciabatta Roll with a pickle and a choice of side. I chose the SLAW! But what a slaw it was. The slaw that I got was oddly sweet, not at all what I was expecting, but ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant surprise indeed. I came, I slaw, I conquered. That's how it goes, right? We also ordered the POT-CHOS off the menu. Yes, kettle baked potato chips topped with Nacho ingredients. Jalapeños on the side for the Mrs. So what's the verdict? Good. Not great. Could have been more cheese. It had bagged lettuce sprinkled on it but would have preferred shredded for easier nacho pickup. And although it says it on the menu (I know), the beer cheese/nacho cheese didn't work for me personally. It gave me ballpark vibes. Yes, to each is own. The two hits and the one miss on the food would of still giving me almost 5 star vibes here as I dig the themed restaurants. I have to imagine that some of the other menu items that I almost chose were easy answers for a 2nd visit (if I'm in the area). I'm giving a slight knock to the rating instead because we were charged for a raspberry ice tea refill after confirming that it was free refills and bringing me the refill before realizing they were mistaken. We all make mistakes, and besides that the service was great. And I'm sure next time the visit will be great and the cool/unique Edison's Grill will sway me to a 5. I would recommend this to anyone on their way through Harwington. It's a great lunch spot and the rest of the menu looks great. I'm sure next time I'm in it will sway me over to a 5.

In Litchfield county, and in need of a good burger....props to Yelp Elite, Tricia B, for recommending the Edison Grill. Everything was top shelf, from the service, to the decor, the ambience, the vibe, the food, even the men's room (more on that later). Cordial Katie greeted and seated me, and brought menus. For food, I opted for a mushroom burger, 8 ozs of Angus pure delectable delight. Cooked to perfection, each charbroiled bite reaching a different note - crimini mushrooms, carmelized onions, "greens" and cheddar. And the hint of horseradish gave everything a really good pop. Fries were nice and crispy, just how I ordered. Now, back to the men's room. One of the coolest and cleanest in any restaurant / pub I've ever been in. Real (and healthy) plants, formidable flush, nicely tiled floors, art decor, etc, etc. Props to Katie (and to Tricia B). 5 star

The overall atmosphere was comfortable. The bbq brisket sandwich was delicious and we got it with their hand cut kettle chips. We added grilled chicken to the Edison Grill Salad and it was also very tasty. The service was very good, everyone was friendly and attentive. The decor is very interesting, lots of Thomas Edison era memorabilia. Definitely recommended!

Said I wouldn't be back to The Edison Grill again, but I had a GC from the Holidays, so we decided to use it this morning for breakfast. I ordered a sausage & Pepper Jack cheese omelet, and my wife went with a Special, the Banana Bread French Toast. Meals came out after a short wait. My omelet was good -- fluffy & filling. Home fries were red bliss potatoes -- a very nice change of pace from most standard breakfast potatoes. Wife's Banana Bread French Toast was excellent -- extremely tasty ! Coffee was also very good. Service was stellar -- Chrissy was very friendly & attentive. All in all, a much better experience to The Edison Grill than our previous visit a year ago. We'll definitely put them back in the rotation of usual places in the Torrington area.

Very hidden gem that's worth everything. The inside is so cool, clean and awesome decor! We decided to get the margarita flights, which at some places can be weak but these were strong and flavorful! Absolutely worth it to get the flight! I'm sure the mule flight is awesome too! The service was excellent and quick! The food was great portion and so delicious! This is a great place for a date, with great trails near by! We will be back!

From the moment you see the elegant vintage sign and bright red double doors, you know you're in for something authentic. The interior feels warm and welcoming, with a big, clear menu board that makes ordering easy. They have a solid selection of hot and cold sandwiches, breakfast options, and coffee. I went with one of their specials -- it looked like a chicken cutlet or eggplant variation with fresh greens (possibly arugula), roasted red peppers or similar, and what appeared to be a touch of egg or cheese. Whatever it was, it was excellent. The sandwich came on a perfect crusty Italian roll -- the bread was fresh with a great chew and slight crisp on the outside. The fillings were generous, flavorful, and well-balanced. The greens added a nice peppery bite that cut through the richness of the protein and any sauces. It was one of those sandwiches where every bite tastes just as good as the last. Service was friendly and efficient (the guy behind the counter was busy but still took time to make sure everything was right). The place has that old-school deli atmosphere mixed with modern touches -- exactly what you want when you're craving a quality sandwich. If you're in the area and looking for a no-nonsense, delicious deli sandwich made with care, Petraroia Deli is worth a visit. I'll definitely be back to try more from the hot sandwich list (the Porchetta and Chicken Cordon Bleu both caught my eye). Pro tip: Check their hours -- they appear to be closed on Mondays. *Highly recommend the fried artichoke sandwich. .

I'd honestly give it a 4.5 if that were possible, but since 4 felt too low, I'm rounding up. It was stellar. The spot itself is super quaint, tucked into a charming little rural town that seriously felt like it belonged on a Hallmark movie set. The staff were incredibly friendly and helped us choose our order, which was much appreciated. I went with the classic Italian combo, and it was absolute perfection. Seriously, a sandwich doesn't get better than this. The meat-to-bread ratio was spot on, and the mix of mayo with oil and vinegar added amazing flavor. The bread was just right--chewy enough to have a nice pull, but soft enough that it didn't fall apart or make the sandwich hard to eat. Highly recommend. We also tried the turkey club, which was tasty but not quite as successful due to the ciabatta bread. It was a bit too hard, and the fillings kept sliding out, making it tough to eat. Still, the flavors were great, and I was pleasantly surprised by the mustard. I wasn't expecting it on a club, but it worked well. Overall, would definitely come back!

What a WONDERFUL little throw-back of a diner! The servers are absolutely charming (thank you to…read morethe beautiful, jewelry-making Christina), pricing is circa 1995, there's a great children's menu -- and there is clearly some skill in this kitchen, generally. I love that you get unlimited refills on coffee ($2), which was actually quite decent by diner standards. Where else can you find that nowadays?! Eggs were well prepared and fluffy across the board. I loved that my veggie omelet ($8.75) came generously filled with sauteed mushrooms, sweet peppers, and onions. It came with toast and a side of either fruit or home fries. The multigrain, which our server disclosed was from a bakery in NY, was fresh, well slathered with butter, and far better than it had to be as a non-headline component of the meal. Home fries were beautifully seasoned, though I do prefer mine a little more browned. Fruit salad on our visit included a slice of melon, a few grapes and a slice of orange. Our eight year old got a children's meal with one egg, home fries, toast and juice ($4.50). She enjoyed her fluffy scrambled eggs, which she ate sandwiched between two halves of a generously buttered English muffin. My only nitpick: You could taste a touch of margarine in the eggs, which I personally detest. Still, the food was head and shoulders better than (and half as expensive as) anything you can find at Mohawk Mountain, where we are usually resigned to grub. We are so, so thrilled to find this sweet little place a hop and a skip away from the mountain. It's a perfect place to refuel after early morning ski practice!

These days it's hard to find a cafe that isn't overpriced and better than just average. But Toasted Oat hits the high points of quality of cook on the food, even if the ingredients may not all be top notch. They have breakfast sandwiches, bowls and scrambles, as well as regular sandwiches, salads and burritos. We enjoyed the regular breakfast sandwich with spinach and cheese (subbed the meat but wish the spinach had been cooked in - $7) and the breakfast scramble which included 2 eggs, 3 veggies, cheese, protein all mixed/cut up together, as well as hash brown (didn't exactly look homemade?) and toast ($11). Everything was served in to-go containers so the looks weren't the best but makes sense given the place and that most people probably don't dine in. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Everything takes time to come out so you know it's done to order. They also have some coffee and tea. They had a few coffee cake items in a glass display but didn't look homemade either. It feels like a cafe should have more selection of pastries but again bother me. Service was friendly and patient. The actual location isn't that great visually either. There is one longer table and a few smaller ones, but it's not a big place and not decorated to impress (fine by me!) My brunch buddy and I had to make a last minute change of plans, so we landed at Toasted OAT today for breakfast. There are a few tables in a roped off section of the parking lot to eat outside. Inside, there's a long table in the middle, 3 smaller tables on the left, and a bar at the window. We had no problem getting a seat, but it seems like it's more of a take-and-go place than a destination to eat. There are a lot of customizations you can make to your food order, which is more easily done in their online ordering system--but there's a $1.95 service fee to use it. My friend and I made our decisions based off of that system but ordered at the counter. While there are a lot of breakfast and lunch options, there aren't many beverages. Coffee, hot chocolate, and tea are the mainstays for warm beverages, and all cold beverages other than cold brew coffee are prepackaged bottles in a cooler and run just short of $4. Every order, whether it's take-out or eat-in, is served in disposable packaging with disposable utensils. I ordered the Reuben bowl without eggs and a side waffle with syrup. Kind of love that I could get a side waffle. It took a while for the food to come out. It felt longer than it should have been for how few people were there, but I didn't time it. My waffle was cold. The tator tots in the Reuben bowl, however, were cooked perfectly, as were my friend's hash browns. Everything tasted great. If you're looking for the picturesque weekend brunch experience, this isn't it. But if you want a quick bite that's well made with quality ingredients and no-fuss beverages, you'll be very happy here. Even more so if you want to take it on the go.
