The atmosphere of the broken egg doesn't fit the name I feel I kind of expect a more diner/breakfast feel. They don't serve breakfast all day which is also kinda disappointing if your open for dinner as well. During my visit for dinner I got the five pepper tuna and ceasar salad. The salad was horrible. I find it ridiculous that you are going to charge $3 buck for the side salad with croutons that tasted like nothing but black pepper. The five pepper tuna was ok but I did not care for the sauce on top of the tuna. The sauce was overly sweetened and had a pasty texture to it and clung to my teeth like taffy. However, the potatoes underneath were great and so was the side of spinach. Our server was also really sweet. read more

First-time here this morning with my family and I was very impressed. The food was reasonably priced, tasted great and they have generous portions. The restaurant was packed yet service and food order to table time was great! We are looking forward to visiting for lunch or dinner in the near future. I've been here twice within the last 2 years (pretty far from where I live) but I've always had great a great experience. Food is always satisfying and price is good. Sometimes there is a wait to be seated and get your food but that's expected at a busy place and if you're there on the weekends which I have been. My husband and I have made it a habit of coming in on Saturday mornings. We love the food and the Happy Hour Mimosas and Bloody Mary's are delicious. The service is always great and the waitresses are always very friendly. There are times that it is crowded and you may have to wait 15 to 20 minutes but that is normal when you go to a popular restaurant. The only downfall is that they have not expanded. read more

Normally love this place for breakfast but came in tonight at 7:45 pm to try dinner. First off, when we came in there was no one at the hostess stand and it took over 5 minutes before someone finally came to greet and seat us. Mind you, it was not busy at all and we saw no less than 8 servers behind the bar. Once seated the waitress was very nice and courteous. However, come 8:01 and no server, we decided it was time to go. Terrible way to treat customers. IF we ever decide to come back, it will definitely not be for dinner. Came in there tonight at 7:01 ( i know because i had just send out a text when i waked through the door) asked the server who greeted us for a booth she said there was none, when there obviously was a couple cleaned and ready to be sat. Fast forwarded to now 7:19pm still no service no server, 15 minutes after we were sat a family of 3 came in, was sitted and before you knew it there was a waitress taking their order!! so we decided to get up and walk away. The food has always been good, but lately they have been running a daily lunch special and they text the special to those folks on their text list. I came in today 25 minutes after receiving the text for today's special. I was told they were already sold out. The daily special is $4.99. I live in Virginia Beach. Egg Bistro's extensive menu selection includes items you won't find elsewhere, example: Eggs Benedict. Prepared foods served customers is excellent. My complaint is that noise level inside restaurant is absolutely atrocious. Entire restaurant floor area is one big open space. There is nothing to absorb, or reduce, extremely high decibel levels. Customers cannot hear what person on opposite side of table is attempting to say much less what your server just actually said to you. Owners should install sound muting wall coverings, ceiling tiles, carpet etc. That would reduce irritating noise levels, eliminate that customers must resort to lip reading to understand anything said and create much better dining atmosphere for everyone. read more

The Egg Bistro is my "go to" place to study and have a great breakfast, lunch or occasional dinner with the hubby. The food is delicious and Rebecca, my server, was pleasant and always bringing refills before I asked. My favorite item of choice is the "Portsmouth"...a spinach wrap LOADED with chicken, bean sprouts, avocado and tomato. I would recommend The Egg Bistro to anyone. If you come on Saturday, come very early or you'll have to wait a little while. People LOVE to have breakfast there on Saturday. Early bird specials form 7-8 am are an incredible value for all you receive. Their pancakes fill an entire dinner plate. You gotta go there! read more

I really wanted to like this place....I might come back to try breakfast/brunch with them.....Anywho I came by during dinner hours with two friends who wanted to try this place for the first time, we had fried pickles (huge but good) two of us ordered crab cake sandwiches and the other ordered the crab cake platter.....we should've came to breakfast or maybe just tried the vb location who knows...the crab cake portion of the sandwich was on the thin side and smaller than the bun...there was a lot more break that crab cake...., our other friend bit into her crab cake and made a weird face, she then said they smelled/tasted off, so I gave them a try, I didn't taste anything weird but I got a whiff of ammonia...a very faint....whiff, She's sensitive and I'm guessing thats why she was triggered so quickly, any who our server let us know that they were made fresh daily .......and maybe they were but the crab was a day or two from being bad and the smell was a give away. any who our server was super helpful and offered for my friend to try another entree, she had the shrimp scampi which she said was decent.....Overall.....I feel meh about this place...I had high expectations given the rave reviews I've heard over the years. My other friend is still a bit slighted by the small crab cake patties...we'll stick to seafood spots for crab from now on and second thought....I'll probably just try the beach location fro brunch instead. read more

I'm sorry but this place was far too slow, noisy, and sometimes even rude for me. The waitress talked to my daughter so childishly, when she was clearly old enough to order what she wanted. Had dinner here a few weeks ago-- mussels in white wine, garlic and butter and a blackened tuna sandwich. The former was delicious; I actually saved the broth to take home. However, the tuna was terrible. It was partially frozen in the middle and obviously wasn't as fresh as I would have liked. The various assortment of martinis they offer, and that people seem rather crazy about, seem gimmicky and trivial to me. I will say that the service I received was good, and the first thing I ordered was superb enough to make me overlook my horrendous entree. I'm a fan of this place, although I've never been for brunch. I really enjoy the dinner menu, especially the appetizers. The specials are great if you can get there for happy hour on Friday/Saturday. Half-off Martinis on Fridays! The martinis are my favorite, but the beers on tap are great and they are pretty reasonable. All in all I like the atmosphere, the fact that there are tables outside, and the service is usually great. Definitely worth trying if you haven't been. read more

My wife and I used to live in Chesapeake before moving to NYC. We were there visiting family recently and they took us to the Egg for dinner on a Friday night. It was packed but the wait wasn't too bad. The service was great, and the food was as well. There is a great wine and mixed drink selection too. The owner, who was behind the bar, could have cared less that we were trying to order a drink. No offer to help. No acknowledgement that we were even there. I love this place, we dine here often. Make sure you try the Calamari! It has a bit of an Asian flare and is very tasty. The Martini menu has been fun too. This place is fantastic! I just used yelp because I wanted to sit down and eat. This place had good reviews and was well worth it. I had the "firecracker" omelette which was unbelievable. I love when a restaurant uses fresh jalapenos. Pickled jalapenos make it obvious that the restaurant is trying to cut cost. A great beer selection and a great bar. The service was great as well, although I did sit at the bar so you would really have to try to fail in order to give bad service. I tried to go back today, to show my girlfriend and it was a 45 minute wait. so obviously word is out about how great it is. We were to hungry to wait but it would have been worth it! read more

There is not one sound absorbing surface in whole place, and the industrial height ceilings and expansive square footage mean there can be a lot of people making a lot of noise when things get rocking and rolling.
