Unfortunately, this third visit was not a pleasant experience for us.The first thing we noticed when we were led to our table, was that my chair was dirty. I had to use the napkin the utensils were wrapped in, to wipe the food off of the seat. Once seated, we noticed that the table was dirty, so my friend asked if the waiter could wipe the table down. Once the table was cleaned, we placed our orders. I asked for the Sandbridge omelet NO bacon and NO tomatoes, the hollandaise sauce on the side, crispy shredded hash browns, and white toast. When our waitress finally brought the food to our table, I noticed that the omelet was topped and stuffed with bacon. Our original waitress had already stepped away, so we flagged down another waitress and explained that my order was incorrect. My plate was taken back, and my friend began eating, otherwise the food would've gotten cold. Minutes later, the original waitress returned and asked exactly how I wanted my omelet prepared. She said that my original order listed NO spinach and extra bacon. Apparently , none of the things I had asked for (on the omelet) were annotated correctly. By the time my food arrived, my friend had already finished eating. Did I mention that I was extremely disappointed with the cleanliness, timeliness, and service I received on this visit? If my order would've been annotated correctly (or the waiter would have asked for clarity), the table would've been cleaned before being seated, and/or the correction to the order would've been done in a timely manner, I would have been a satisfied customer. read more

I've never had any complaints about this place, other than the fact that I haven't started going here sooner. For around ~$20, you can get a good amount of breakfast for two people!! I usually order their french toast, which comes with a protein (ham steak!!) and two sides (cubed hash browns and two eggs). You'll definitely get your money's worth with a full tummy! Their service is usually really friendly, as well. I would plan accordingly because they can get pretty busy, especially during Sunday brunch. Before I even arrived I knew what I wanted... Blue Crab Eggs Benedict! Right from the start I was greeted with a smile, seated quickly, and had a water at my table Within 2 minutes. The dining facility is clean and much larger than I had anticipated. Even though I knew ahead of time when I was getting, I still took a quick look at the menu; it was quite a large but didn't come off as overwhelming. My order was the blue crab cakes benedict with a side of cubed hash browns. By far the star of the plate was the hash browns. They were hot and crispy little cubes of Heaven. Unfortunately, the benedict fell a little bit short in my opinion. The entire dish was overall soft in texture which was rather disappointing . The hollandaise was a little "strange", comparatively speaking when compared to a classic hollandaise. It just didn't taste like a homemade hollandaise. The crab cake itself was soggy and surprisingly didn't have a very strong crab flavor. If you got everything in one bite, you really couldn't taste the crab at all. Even the English muffin could have been better. I would have preferred it to be slightly toasted, instead it was just soft and became soggy from the hollandaise. On the bright side, the egg was cooked perfectly. Despite my main dish being a little lackluster, I would definitely come again just to try some of the other offerings on the menu. The service was by far the best part of the Egg Bistro, but maybe next time I will make a better food selection. I give the blue crab cake benedict a 5 out of 10. read more

With a couple of visits under my belt I can honestly say this should be a must try for anyone who appreciate a great breakfast. I am not crazy about the location since it's in Chesapeake and I reside in Virginia Beach, but that's not their fault. The restaurant is in a strip and may be a little difficult to first spot. Look for all that bright yellow lettering. Parking will be an issue if it's a peak time. I really wonder how the other shop owners feel about them taking up all the spaces. Front end hostess was nice on both occasions. On my first visit a Saturday it was pretty mobbed, but happen to catch a break around 11 AM and sat at the bar. Keep in mind they seat at the bar too which is an unusual practice. My first thought when taking a look inside was it was a sister of Citrus, a VB breakfast joint I hit up almost every few weeks. The decor is an attractive orange/red with modern wall hangings. Tile floors, wooden chairs and tables make up the open dining room. The bar is the central figure and expands across the back to an open kitchen. The place was spotless every where I looked. I fell in love with this place almost immediately and hoped the service and food could live up to the beauty of what was before my eyes. The service was top notch on both visits with friendly staff. The drinks were flowing when hitting them up on Saturday. They have several specialties, but their Bloody Mary appears to be a crowd pleaser. Waitress was on top of all needs from beginning to the end. The food was really yum! I had a crazy waffle with banana's, pecans, ice-cream and whip. My son had a pancake. On next visit I also had a pancake w/ side of sausage patty. The waffle was just nuts and is easy to split with a friend. I dusted it off but ate nothing the rest of the day. Pancakes are very moist sweet to the taste and I really enjoyed. The coffee was excellent and I took my time and got second and third cup and took my time savoring it. The only issue which was quite distracting was flies. There were too many of them and having to shoe them off disrupted a great meal. It's worth driving out of my way to come back. read more

As mentioned in other reviews, Egg Bistro (aka The Broken Egg) is quite busy. Probably one of the busiest mid-week breakfast places I've seen in a while. And that's a good thing because it hopefully means the breakfast is going to be good. And yes, it was good. I chose the veggie omelet with pepper jack cheese and got exactly that. A nice big omelet with lots of asparagus and mushrooms and tomatoes and spinach. No onions, per my request. Interestingly, they offer both cubed hash browns and shredded. As you'll see from the picture, I went cubed. Nicely soft on the inside and browned outside - very nice potatoes. The sourdough toast was a little light but still quite good. Very nice meal. Coffee was surprisingly good and my waitress came back often to keep it warmed up. Good service. I can absolutely see why Egg Bistro is busy. It's good! read more

My friend took me to the Egg Bistro two days in a row for brunch. This place is always busy but the wait was never over 15 minutes for a table of two; these people turn tables at a crazy rate even with multiple parties over 5. The staff here is amazing and super nice that I don't mind waiting. I was able to try the Perry's Benedict (grilled chicken, asparagus, and bacon) and the corned beef hash. The hash was standard, honestly, but a little salty. But the benny was pretty good. Eggs were perfectly runny and the asparagus was tender. My only complaint was that the chicken was a little tough but not dry. On the other hand, country fried stake lovers rejoice. The sausage and black pepper gravy that smothers the steak had HUGE chunks of breakfast sausage. I'd definitely come back for breakfast/brunch in the future if I'm ever back in the area. After the dinner the hubs and I had here Friday night, they're finally winning me back over... big time! I had the Shrimp & Grits dinner special they were running. It was absolutely DELISH! It was very Chow-esque yet so much closer to home! The grits were SO creamy and I could've just drank the sauce out of a glass it was so good! One nitpick - could've used a little more grits. The hubs had the Grilled Mahi... practically licked the plate clean! He absolutely raved about the Cajun cream sauce. If it's one thing this place ALWAYS does right it's sauce! Speaking of sauce... they need to sell that house ginger, soy and teriyaki sauce they serve with the potstickers. It ridiculously good. Only wish I'd remembered it was martini night. I give this place 4 stars only because I have had many great experiences here and their food is always bomb! We had some friends in town and wanted to bring them here so this was their first time. It was pretty busy per usual (for a reason) but even still the service was lacking. Our server was kind but seemed to not be able to keep up with the fast pace. The banana nut bread french toast is what keeps me coming back! The cruellers and fried green tomatoes were ordered as an appetizer but the cruellers came with our food (and also pushed all to the side of the plate). We were under the impression it came with 4 but only 2 which is fine we had plenty of food. The fried green tomatoes came out once we were finished eating which kinda sucked bc we were so full but they were SO GOOD! Overall, all the food was good just the timing of everything didn't make it the best experience for our guests that have never been. read more

Let me make a suggestion to management: The two top table that you have parked at the end of the bar right where the to-go order pick-up orders are staged - either get rid of it so there is more room for people to stand waiting for their order so the customers eating at the table aren't stood on top of. Or send the hostess to retrieve such orders from behind the bar area so social distancing is maintained. Our first trip we tried the Chicken & Waffles and Pecan Pie infused pancakes. Both were soooo good! This time around we switched it up and did the Blueberry french toast and the Dig in Bowl. Again, the food was perfect and our waitress Tara was awesome! No doubt if we are looking to eat out for breakfast, this is new go-to. Watched both my boys work here, During this virus they started offering delivery, I thought oh no I'm out of the distance they were offering. I called and asked. They were wonderful. They said we love you we'll totally deliver. They started the family breakfast and dinner meals and we ordered once a week. Cant wait to be sitting at the counter with our favorite waitress Deanna.
