I went into Exhaust Works because the floor had been vibrating in my car and then it started making a loud noise. My son and I looked under the car and saw there was exhaust pipe openings exposed and a joint piece had fallen off. That is exactly what I said when I went into Exhaust Works without an appointment. They only had a couple of cars before me, were able to inspect my car within 10 minutes, and within 20 minutes my car was fixed with a new pipe welded into my exhaust system. Otto was the man with whom I spoke, and not only did I walk in and get my car fixed within 30 minutes, but he also didn't treat me any different than a male customer. Unfortunately I have had negative experiences at different types of automotive shops because I am a woman. But Otto completely 100% respected what I said was wrong with my car, verified it quickly, and then fixed it. The price was right as well. Definitely go to Exhaust Works on Route 31/Lake Street, in Aurora when you need your exhaust or brakes repaired. ALSO: While there, the usual mechanic I go to came in to their shop to get parts. Don't expect a PepBoys type shop. This place is old school. I needed my catalytic converter replaced. One they had my car up on the lift, the owner got me to show me the damage. That doesn't happen a large chain location. The pricing was very fair asI price checked the part online prior to walking in. Their markup was less than 10%. Hell, I would have charged more! They had the post in hand later that afternoon. I dropped it off the next morning and three hours later I gots phone call my vehicle was ready. Because they're note a chain, they do a lot of custom work. Don't let that scare you off as it the labor is very very reasonable. If you need anything done to an exhaust system and don't want to feel like you're being up sold on something you don't need , I would definitely give them a call. read more

Yesterday as I left Costco in Naperville, it suddenly dawned on me that my procrastination had left me residing in November 26th without getting my VERY noisy car with the check engine light on, checked out and the emissions test was due in NOVEMBER! Hello!! I called my regular car place on this day before Thanksgiving and was non plussed by his somewhat veiled reluctance to have me come in. So, I called a friend and he said, 'The Exhaust Works!' So, at about 2:30 p.m. I pulled into the shop and I guess the stars were aligned because the two guys who work there who were VERY nice and VERY professional, said they were waiting for some parts for another vehicle and couldn't do a thing on the cars in the shop until they came so they would test my vehicle in the interim. Immediately they drove the car into the shop, tested it and then the owner drew a picture (I'm visual so this way VERY helpful) and explained where the dual tailpipes were corroded and holey...He explained how one of the catalytic converters was very close to the really holey pipe and near the oxygen sensor which might be the reason for the check engine light. He said that they'd replace the pipes and then I could drive for a couple of days and see if the check engine light corrects itself. Well, today as I give thanks, it did just that...check engine light is off and emissions is open Saturday, November 29th. Yay! Can't say enough good about this place...in and out, decent price...explained everything like a charm. I know the timing won't always be this perfect but these guys always will be. They're upper echelon. I can see now why they've been in business for 31 years...they're more than fantastic! read more

What an excellent experience! Was referred to exhaust works by another body shop. Would have never found this place if it wasn't for a referral. Had some exhaust work done here last week on my 10 year old Altima. Brought it in one day for an estimate and brought it back the following day to be repaired at almost half the price of 2 other shops in the area. My car was squeaking and making odd noises over rough patches of road. I brought it to Exhaust Works and they replaced some sway bar links and bushings for a reasonable price. The squeaks from bumps have stopped. I do have other noises, mostly when turning the car, but these noises are coming from the control arm bushings. The shop showed me these with the car up on the lift, but did not recommend the work immediately. I think it was really great of them to show me this and not push me to do the work (as it is not imperative to do immediately). I will likely go back in the Spring and get this work done as any noise on my car bugs me. read more

Had most of my exhaust fixed for only $800 dollars (including tax and labor). The job was done in under an hour and my 1996 Honda Accord has never been more quiet. The gas mileage is better than when I first bought it. Had a bit of a rattling under the car after the work was done. Took it back a couple days later to see if something got knocked loose. They trimmed a bracket no questions asked.
