We started with the celery salad which was gorgeous, hazelnuts danced with the julienned celery and the fresh greens were just what we were looking for after a long day of wine. The Waygu Skirt steak was a great entree and the peppercorns were perfectly done, just the right amount. Hattaways was slammed when we were in and I want to shout out the kitchen. Tonight, it was the corned beef hash with two poached eggs and a Belgian waffle: the hash was more green pepper than meat or potatoes, the "poached" eggs were white hockey pucks with completely solid yolks and the Belgian waffle was a fluffy waffle-shaped pancake, no crispness on the outside at all. The waitstaff are fantastic and extremely nice. The setting is ... dated, but serviceable. The place is still better than the truly awful Denny's in town. I really hate ripping the place because the folks are so nice. I guess I'll sum it up this way: I've never had a truly bad meal at Clarette's, but I've never had a truly good meal there, either.
