I went in for contacts in December 13 I paid for them they said they would call never did I called they said they didn't have a provider for contacts that some have been waiting since October they never told me this in December just had me pay for everything it's march and they say they still have nobody they just taking money knowing they have nobody to make the contacts. I called 3 different times to check if my glasses was ready, they said they're still waiting for my lenses. It took 3 months and 1 week and finally got it. I put it on and it doesn't feel right so I thought my eyes need to adjust and that's what she told me also. Got home tried to read something still didn't make a difference. My old glasses is more clearer. I DO NOT recommend this place. The Doctor was very nice though, but I need my glasses to fit better. read more

The woman at the front desk was very unfriendly and unprofessional. The bathroom wasn't stocked at all either. She said she would get someone to handle that and never did. And had a really bad attitude from the second we walked in. As someone working at the front desk you would expect atleast some sort of welcoming attitude but no. This place is absolutely horrible and unprofessional. I came in January to purchase glasses, I spent 400 dollars on nice ones. They said they would be ready by three weeks, so after about 5 weeks I called and got sent to voicemail so I left a voicemail about my glasses. They called me back saying mine were ready to be picked up. I arrived and mind you it's about a 30 minute drive there and I have a baby so it is a hassle. Just for them to bring me back to try them on and they pull out the completely wrong glasses, then try to say I never got glasses from their location. So I stood my ground and said yes I did, and after a couple minutes they come back saying "I'm sorry, we called you in for the wrong ones. The ones you purchased haven't even been sent to the lab yet. So I left very angry. And it's now February, no call about them. They don't answer their phone. And when I did get an answer they still had not even been sent to the lab. Horrible horrible service. Do not go here. read more

I go to the office on Civic Center Dr & the Doctor is so upbeat, smart and caring. She explained things to me that I never knew about and gave advice about how certain issues come about with age & there was nothing to be concerned about. If there was a zero I'd rate this place a zero. No one could get it straight just to order trial lens for my son. First trial lens came in and only the right eye. The call we got was "your contacts are ready, please come by to pick them up". Only to come in and pick up the right side. Now why would you call to say it's ready when you only have one side, UNLESS that's all you ordered. We gave it a week. Called again to see if they have the other side. lol. Nope. Cause no order was put in. I've been calling but no one knows what's going on. I asked their manager Carmen to call me. Nope. No call. It's been a week. Last I called girls at the front desk said she didn't come in. Following up today. See what's the new excuse today. Update: got the contacts. Before I came in I called to make sure the contact prescription is printed. Girl at the front desk happily obliged. Had my husband pick it up the next day. Of course it wasn't printed. SMH. Dr. Harvey - I can't believe I am doing this! Rest your soul but it took current management four times to get my prescription right when sending to the lab. Four times. I was patient up until the last time when they told me its going to be three weeks now to get new pair. Really? The second foul up you turned in two days. I called and spoke with the office manager Carmen and went through the history. "What do you want me to do?" she asked. I was taken aback. "What? Just give me my money back." I really just wanted to hear "I'm sorry" or "Let me investigate this right away." They said they don't refund purchases. I will note that after a period of time she came back and offered to discount my future visit. No thanks. We are done. My wife has known Dr. Harvey, and been a customer, for over 30 years since she was a teenager. God rest his soul but his place of business has lost my family's business - three of us. It's a real shame that this place has deteriorated so bad since the death of the founder - Harvey Ohriner. Read all the recent reviews for evidence of bad management. read more

My wife and I have been patients there for over 20 years, and have purchased glasses and/or contacts there for sll or most if them. I saw Dr. Harvey Ohreiner for exams each year until he passed away a few years ago. We both had exams several weeks ago, and when I came in to pick up my wife's contacts last week, I requested that they put a screw into sun glasses I'd purchase elsewhere. The refused,stating that they only worked on glasses that were purchased there. This would never have happened when Dr. Oh reiner was running the place. I even requested to speak with the manager, and after keeping, me waiting for at least 15 minutes, they informed me that he left the building. My wife and I will definitely find a new optometrist. read more

My optometrist was very efficient and she made sure that I didn't leave before my exam was completed.

It took over a month to get my glasses after being told two to three weeks. I got the glasses and they don't darken unless I am in direct sunlight. It wasn't explained to me the difference in the tinting that the glasses won't darken when I am in the shade or driving. Poor service and I won't return read more

I was really impressed by the FIVE STAR service that the woman IN FRONT OF US received! A girl with tons of face piercings working the counter explained that they "had up to 30 days to exchange if needed, for ANY reason!" and they "tend to get loose so she could come back and get them tightened at any time!" They were happy and left. ...But, we were treated VERY differently...Face pierced person mispronounced our name after I told it to her so I told her again. (My daughter chimed in too and face pierced girl looked at her like she was trash for doing that). She got the glasses, shoved the them in front of us. (Without speaking). My daughter tried them on. Lady said "can u see that?" My daughter said "yes". Lady said "sign anywhere on the paper". And that was all she said. The ONLY difference between US and the lady in front of us was OUR SKIN COLOR. I called in to see if maybe those options were not available to us bc we had different insurance or something (not angry or accusatory, just curious), but the woman I spoke with was very kind and apologetic and explained that all of that IS available to us. I can only guess face pierced girl didn't want us to know this because we weren't the same color as her OR the woman in front of us who I held the door for and let go in front of us despite us arriving a minute sooner. I'm so glad I let that woman go in front of us so that I was able to see the very stark contrast in the service we received. I'm still giving this place 4 stars bc we like the glasses and the policies and the rest of the people there. So I'd highly recommend this place IF you have a certain amount of melanin, and I guess I'd also recommend this place to any color person if you avoid face pierced girl. Because no one else there treated us poorly or differently. In fact the rest of them were great! So...just make sure your color matches face pierced girl if you have to interact with her. If you don't match, ask for someone else right off the bat. Otherwise you might be uninformed or misinformed, who knows. read more

My visit went well, I was called a few days later saying I owed money due to the person helping me did not charge the right amount and my insurance won't pay out. So I would have to pay the difference. I don't mind paying because I paid full amount due at the time of appt. But the office manager was rude about it and the phone hung up as I was being transferred back to make payment. How is it my fault that I was not billed correctly. Beware of this business. While doctors are very nice and proffesional including the receptionist. The office manager Carmen is dishonest, rude and unprofessional. My husbands contacts were billed to our insurance for the incorrect amount than what was actually given to him. They billed for 24 units which wiped out his benefits for the entire year. They actually gave him a box of twelve and billed insurance for 24. They stated he was given 24 units on his receipts but that was incorrect they gave him 12. Because of this he had to pay for entire new exam and pay for lenses out of pocket. When I asked for a refund the office manager said "not until I change my tone"..... bottom line. No matter my tone she needed to refund me (she didn't) She has been reported to the insurance company (case has been opened). I'm also reporting to the BBB - ZERO Stars for the office manager. Hopefully the doctors correct this lady if they don't know what's going on with their administrative staff. BEWARE: Read your receipt when you pick up your prescription lenses and glasses. Be sure you are picking up what is stated on the receipt before you leave. read more

Friendly and knowledgable staff. The receptionist/front desk girls were nice and welcoming and my Optometrist, Dr. Frillarte was very easy to talk to as well. The lobby was clean with a couple magazines on the bench seats, but there is this whole empty space in the middle; it'd be beneficial to maybe have a coffee table or something, just a thought! Initially when I was taken from the lobby to the back a girl called my name and did an eye exam on me, but she never greeted me with a friendly "Hello" or even introduce herself with a name, so I asked it and if my memory serves me correctly, she said, "My name is Kathy, but you'll be seeing the doctor after." I guessssss, Kathy. I just feel like you should always greet people and introduce yourself, especially if you're conducting an eye exam on me and I'm sitting in a room with you. Anyway, after meeting with Dr. Fillarte, she explained to me her findings and walked me to the back room with all of the glasses. The girl who took care of me was nice enough to help me narrow down what I wanted and keep me in my price range preference and also kept me on the sections that my insurance would cover, whether it was total coverage or partial, so that definitely helped. Totally enjoyed my visit, especially since it's my first eye exam since 2012 lol! read more

Yep, another great review on the Eyecare Center. They always have a nice friendly and welcoming staff. I enjoy that very much. The gal even repaired my glasses for me that I had gotten on my last visit. I am a bit of an old school nerd. I still wear glasses for driving at night or while watching movies. The complete process is quick, simple and easy. I really dig that! They also always have a fabulous assortment of frames. I am a fan, I will be back next year as always. I wish I could give no stars. This place is so unprofessional. I called TWICE to confirm my first eye appointment was covered by my insurance. I was told yes and that I had 130 towards my appointment. I told them I'm coming on lunch since they are closed on weekends and after 5, and I work those same hours. They said it would be quick, I came in and waited over an hour, then as I was ready to leave. They told me I owed $70 for the exam!! I told them I asked and asked and was told It was covered. Come to find out an eye and contact exam is $295????? Are you kidding me!!!!! I will NEVER return and will make sure I let everyone know this place is a RIP off!! read more

Great Doctor, Poor selection, Astonishing markup on prices, Appalling Receptionist, Annoying wait prohibits cellphone use. See Details below. GREAT DOCTOR!: I've seen Doctor McCaffrey for several years at this location for my annual glasses & contacts check ups and I really like her. She is pleasant, thorough and I trust her treatment. However besides her, I am not at all pleased with how the business conducts itself. CONTACTS: I won't buy contacts there because they majorly overcharge. ($300 for what I buy for $120 with 1-800 contacts) and frames that are at least triple the cost of what can be found elsewhere on the market. (That is typical for most retailers that have an in-house optometrist. SELECTION: At this years annual exam, after waiting over 20 minutes for someone to assist me with glasses, I learn they only had 10 cheaply made plastic frames for me to choose from that my insurance covered. I decided to hold off on selecting something at that time. AWEFUL RECEPTIONIST: A few weeks later I needed to return. Upon doing so I walk into a full lobby and received appalling service from the receptionist. She asked multiple times why I was there and then aggressively argued with me about receiving my written script for glasses with all my measurements. Finally after a 5 minute long protest and 20 minute wait, a technician assisted me. WAIT: The wait to see the Doctor is quick, only about 10 minutes but for any other services it's about 20 minutes of being ignored. The most annoying part is patients are prohibited from utilizing cell phones for any reason because of recent break-ins resulting in theft. The only amusement is a TV that plays a slide show of vision tips and tattered magazines. I won't be returning to this location. I will continue to receive treatment from DR McCaffrey but at her other office location (which I did and it was great!) and I will always take my contact and glasses script elsewhere. read more
