I made an appointment for The Eyewear Gallery based on the reviews here. I had filled out my info on their web-site and indicated that I was military and using Tri-Care. I arrived at the appointment, was greeted and told them I had an appointment, the guy (he didn't introduce himself) asked if I'd filled out their history and insurance forms, I told him I had on-line and that I was military and had Tri-Care. He came across as confused by that and stated they didn't take Tri-Care. He asked if I had some other insurance companies they regularly take, and I re-stated that I was in the Military and that Tri-Care is our insurance, he re-stated they don't take Tri-Care and I got up and walked out. I walked out, and they get one star because there was no sense of customer service... NONE, ZERO... it was like I pulled up to a Taco Bell and ordered a Big Mac... I mean c'mon, at least talk to me and ask me what I'm looking for, and make an offer on what your services are... something besides the zero service I got here. read more

Just put yourself in their hands. I'm one of those folks who has a hard time with eye drops, and I have a somewhat complicated need for glasses that suit both screen and reading. Somehow these folks manage to get it all right and I always feel comfortable there. They have endless patience for people taking a long time to choose the right frames. If the prescription isn't right the first time, they will make the necessary adjustments with no argument. It's a small shop, not a wide selection, but a very good one. Turnaround might take a while, depending on whether the frames are custom-made, but it's worth it. I've had two pairs of eyeglasses made over the last four years and have been able to pop in to have them straightened and adjusted with no problems. I like that I can look around on my own, but then put myself in their hands for the final choice. Good teamwork among the staff, offering opinions about frame styles and materials. My insurance covers over 50% of the glasses, otherwise they would be unaffordable, but I've been able to purchase really nice eyeglasses for about $400 or less, with insurance. read more

Ok, where to begin..... I have so much to say about this place! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED my experience. My job moved to Reston and I found myself searching for an eye doctor since my vision has been changing. So I started googling and got a couple of names. My biggest concern was variety of selection choices for frames. I'm a HUGE fan of the BCBG and Gucci frames and it's not always easily found at a lot of places....well they definitely have these and more! The staff is extra knowledgeable on frames shapes and sizes versus face shape and size; This makes a huge difference because the glasses you end up with truly compliment you. I have gotten so many compliments. I can't speak of the other doctor as I have never seen him but Dr. Gammon is on point! Very knowledgeable, great personality, lots of patience, she truly cares about her patients and goes the extra mile to ensure you are comfortable and happy. Today was my first time at The Eyewear Gallery but it certainly did not feel like it. Dr. Gammon, Cindy & Rachel all go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. As a new patient I would have never dreamed that I could call and within 3 hours have seen the doctor! I was having a problem with my eye so I called thinking I would get an appointment maybe by the end of the week but to my surprise they took me at 3pm. When I arrived I was greeted warmly and did not have to wait long until I was in with the doctor. Dr. Gammon is very thorough and informative and genuinely concerned about your eye health. I really appreciated that they took extra time to help me with the prescription I was given that my health plan would not cover. I am looking forward to a long relationship with the business. This is great place to get glasses. The storefront is small but contains a wide selection of frames. You're not rushed at making a decision, so you can take the time to make the right choice. Dr. Gammon was terrific with the eye exam. She took the time to conduct a thorough exam, and I did not feel like a number. My husband recommended this optometrist to me. I had an appointment in February 2013 with a goal of getting a pair of glasses I liked and was comfortable wearing for long periods of time. Historically, I would only wear my glasses after getting home from work to let my eyes rest from my contacts. Eyewear Gallery's staff helped me pick a great pair of glasses! They directed me to a different style, one that I never would have considered on my own, and the choice was the right one. I work in Reston and eyewear gallery was recommended by my coworker. Since my prescription expired, it is time to get my eyes checked. I made an appointment on the phone and the entire process went smoothly. I came on Saturday to have eye exam, mainly for contact lens. It is not a big place but very comfortable. They have a lot of frames catering different tastes. If you are looking for nice and trendy frames, this is the place you should come albeit a little pricier. Dr. Stumer did my exam. He is very patient, friendly, informative and thorough.He took his time to go through the check and made sure my vision was clear after the adjustment. I also had a few questions regarding lasik surgery and he explained it to me in details and offered his own personal experience and recommendation. I ordered one year supply of contact lens here and they will ship it to you. I also scheduled a follow up for eye dilation. My friends come here to see Dr. Dawn. According to them, she is also great. This place is phenomenal!!! I used a Groupon that was 49 dollars and had an eye exam and 200 dollar credit toward any frames. Anyway, after I met with the doctor, Cameron (be sure to ask for him) helped me to pick out the PERFECT frames. I got some cool Marc Jacobs frames and love them! I am not sure that I agree with the reviews that say they are super Pricey, my frames were discounted and I spent LESS than I did at Costco even without the Groupon!! The service there is seamless, and in fact I liked it so much that my Mom is going there also! read more

Very friendly and professional staff. I had originally purchased a pair of progressive lens glasses at another optician. The focused area of the lenses was so narrow, right down the middle, that I virtually had no periphial vision. Eyeware Gallery hooked me up with the Hoya lenses. They might be a bit expensive but I have 100% clear vision throughout the lenses. In this case it was quality of life over cost. Highly reccommended. read more

I had been meaning to get my crooked glasses fixed for months. It was a vintage pair made in Germany and I was a little worried about handling. I went to TEG on a whim without an appointment and Cameron Harlow immediately assisted me and fixed my glasses within minutes. He was so pleasant and helpful! And when I asked what the cost was, he said it was absolutely free. This may be standard at other places too but I was very happy with the friendliness and customer service. The eyewear gallery looks amazing at first. The doctor is awesome with welcoming attitude and great professional manners. The staff however is awful! It's a shame that they're the face of that amazing place. I had an awful experience when I called trying to re-order my contact, cause I overused mine that it was irritating my eyes. The lady who answered me said " I'm not a doctor but I can't reorder them as long as they're giving you an INFECTION. It's a reputation of our place and our doctor! No one is going to reorder them for you! You have to come in get your eyes checked to make sure your eyes are healthy". She said that in the most disgraceful way! I told her my eyes are just fine I just don't want to keep using my contacts and I want to order new ones! She refused and said that I have to get an appointment. And when I said "do you want me to go order them somewhere else? " she said " If you want to threaten and do that, that's fine. But we're not reordering without an appointment"..!! Well I guess I'm not stepping in that place again then! Is it just money you're trying to get out of your patients? And the customer service,.. I recently purchased my first pair of glasses from the Eyewear Gallery. I didn't get my exam there, so couldn't give 5 stars since I didn't experience that portion. My experience was very pleasant; although, they were unbelievably busy on a Saturday. I waited patiently and they were more than helpful when it was my turn. I have to agree with some other reviewers that the cost of a pair of glasses is much higher that at other "everyday" places. I had a small heart attack when I heard the price but so glad I got them. They are definitely the best glasses I've every purchased. I love having glasses that no one else has and these are so much clearer than any other pair I've owned. Also, the UV coating is applied differently than at other places. I always hate getting that because glasses are so difficult to clean and always streak so bad. These are no problem at all. Very pleased with them and plan to go back for a second pair. read more

I have gone to the Eyewear Gallery for several years now, I even convinced my husband to give up his other vision plan so he can come get his exam and eyewear here. My company has recently changed our vision insurance and after a couple of attempts to schedule an appointment for a family member I was informed that they don't take my vision insurance which was confusing to me since their business is listed as a provider. I called my insurance and they confirmed that Eyewear Gallery did take my insurance but I decided if it's going to take this much effort to deal with them I'll just go to another provider that is more knowledgeable on which insurance they take. My husband needed a pair of glasses and we wandered into The Eyewear Gallery one evening. We were immediately greeted by Cameron who was very professional, knowledgable, friendly and patient. He answered our questions and made suggestions while we tried on multiple pairs of glasses. My husband found the perfect frames and Cameron ordered them for us. We were also interested in prescription sunglasses, but after a bad experience at My Eye Dr across the street (received glasses with warped lenses and nothing but excuses from the staff), I decided to wait until my husband's glasses came in so that I could check the quality before ordering sunglasses. Just as Cameron promised, the final product was perfection. We did get prescription sunglasses and they too were perfection. Went there after I purchased a $200 off coupon from Amazon, but honestly everything was so overpriced that it wasn't really a "deal" at all, just the normal amount one would pay at a similar store for basic glasses and exam. (In my experience, one would pay about $300 for two pairs/exam at another store like Hour Eyes, this time I paid $170 for just one pair/exam.) The staff were nice enough, but the glaucoma test was horrible. Instead of the normal puff test they put these ridiculous drops in your eyes which sting like hell at first and subsequently mellow out into a dull, persistent headache. After she administered the drops, she poked me in each eye with this odd blue thing, which wasn't too pleasant either. Really, if you're a professional practice you need to invest in a puff tester and give your customers that option. I will not be returning to this location for more of your pain drops, thanks. read more

It had been a VERY long time since my last eye exam/new prescription for glasses; so granted, I'm not totally dependent on wearing glasses. And I have been very displeased with the LACK of selection of frames over the past 5 years, not everyone looks good in a narrow, wide rectangular frame. Most of us DO NOT have a square jaw line. Plus, I wear progressive lenses, so I'm not going to pay for skinny rectangular frames, period! So, I'd been putting off buying new glasses. I received a groupon offer from The Eyewear Gallery, checked out their frames and read other reviews. I bought the groupon and was THRILLED with my experience, from Dr. Gammon to the entire staff. I made an appointment and only had a short wait time. My eye exam was thorough, not rushed. Then, the best part for me was picking out new frames, didn't take long at all, I know what I like when I see it. Rachel was GREAT; she listened to me and guided me to trying on frames I probably wouldn't have thought to pick up. Bottom-line, I feel like I'm wearing a valuable, stylish piece of jewelry on my face. YEAH, finally got away from wire, half rimless frames. They're so much fun! Yes, an element of retro, but soooo much better & still just as light! My lenses were expensive, and these are far away the most expensive glasses I've purchased, even with the groupon. So factor that into your planning. But since I should be wearing these glasses all the time now, the forward style offered here made it worth it! read more

I hadn't had an eye exam for a few years. I live in Reston so going to the Eyewear Gallery was close to my house so I chose based on this fact. I went on a Saturday and had my exam. I had a fill in for Dr. Gammon who was very knowledgeable, patient and pleasant. I have to admit that I was not that impressed with the customer service out at the front. The young lady who helped me did not seem to be very knowledgeable in what she was doing with helping me to pick out frames. Other places I have been the eyewear specialists are very helpful and friendly. She seemed very shy and a few times I had to ask her to speak up because she spoke so quietly. The other eyewear specialist, I believe his name was Cameron was on a personal call almost the whole time I was there and after he got off the call, I noticed he was on facebook on his computer. Not a very professional image. I finally picked frames out and was on my way. I noticed when I got home, I had been overcharged for a service (dilation) which I did not receive. I called and spoke with the shy, hard to hear young lady and she stated that they would credit my account but she did not know how so I had to wait until Cameron called me back. I did get my credit a few days later. My glasses came in quickly and I am very happy with them although I have been back twice to have one of the arms on the frames tightened. All in all I am happy with the product but think the customer service can stand with some improvement. read more
