I do not understand the 2.4 rating of this complex, I just signed my 3rd lease. We have an excellent staff in our office, and our maintenance is exceptional! I have never had a problem with the office employees, any questions or concerns are always answered politely and very quickly. Maintenence is exceptional, again I have always been responded to very quickly and politely. The grounds are kept beautifully and building upkeep is also a plus. DO NOT MOVE HERE PLEASE!!!!!!! We are moving out in April and the only reason we didn't break the lease is because of how expensive it is to do that. We have had so many issues with our AC and they do everything but replace it. Which I get it's expensive, but it's extremely annoying to have to continue to call maintenance and then they only show up sometimes. I called twice last week and no one responded or fixed the issue. We're getting close to the really hot temp days and I already know I'll be calling more often. We are going days with it being 80° in our apartment even though it's running and we are being charged but it's not cooling at all. I call during business hours and no one answers. We are so ready to leave and I highly recommend you don't live here. Next day update: my husband reached out to corporate to finally get some answers. Our AC was in fact not working. So they did not come out because they didn't want to do their job and we were right about it not working. They put in a portable unit and didn't communicate anything to us until after they came in our home and did that. We had also put in a service request for MOLD in the bathroom and they painted over it. DO NOT MOVE HERE. If you're already here, GET OUT. read more

Walked in to the leasing office wanting to be a future resident... young girl didn't even look up from her computer. Okay?... weird, no welcome in or anything, cool, whatever. I asked a few questions about the property and this girl had the nerve to not even look up at my fiancé and I, as she chowed down on her donuts, playing a game or something on her computer. Very unhelpful, actually ridiculous because this girl was about 20-24 maybe, the same age as me and I could not imagine being so disrespectful and having such poor costumer service. Bad management, does not respond to real life issues. I have friend who lives here and saw black colored mold on the vent of air outlet. He reported it to the management. They ignored him for weeks. They agreed to send a contractor out to test air. After a few weeks of waiting he called the desk and they came in and wiped the vent with bleach and said it was cleaned. When asked for the air quality report, they agreed to send out contractor to test. After weeks still no test. My daughter got sick from visiting and the doctor said probable black mold. Garbage apartment, the model is NOT what you'll get. You'll get a run down piece of garbage. Upon move out, they charged me to replace the carpet completely and sent us pictures from the * carpeted* dining room area* showing a couple stains you couldn't see unless you lifted the carpet up. So they plan on charging you to replace their shitty carpet no matter what condition you leave it in. total scammers. read more

Both my roomate and I have gone to multiple leasing agents as well as Garrett who is the property manager with concerns. We have had issues since we moved in to the apartment and have still failed to receive a solution. It is at the point where I no longer feel safe in my own apartment. read more

There's no speed bumps anywhere and cars fly through here all times of day and night. Great place to live. Except the fact you almost get bodily injured walking the dog or walking to your car at least once a week. There is a 5mph speed limit sign that rarely anyone pays attention to. read more

When we first viewed this apartment complex we were impressed with the nice amenities like the pool, movie room and free coffee. The apartment we looked at seemed clean and a reasonable price. When we went back in to sign the lease we were told that the woman we initially spoke to had misquoted us on the price of the rent as well as what the month to month rent would be after our lease expires and they were unwilling to honor it. The person we spoke to also seemed evasive when asked about the number of violations in the community for issues like noise. We figured that the best treatment you receive is when a company is trying to get you as a customer. If this is the best, we didn't want to see the worst and decided to move on somewhere else. read more

UPDATE- (6/21/15) My husband & I still live here although we're sad to say at the end of July we will be saying our goodbyes to Steeplechase. We are having a house built since we have a kiddo now so the extra space is essential. But we have lived here almost 5 years and I can't say enough positive things about this complex. Again, the office staff is great!! We will certainly miss them!! Garret & Karen have been wonderful to us!! I changed my rating from 4 star to 5 star because honestly, We couldn't have asked for a better home for the past 5 years. Thanks Steeplechase! --------------------------------------------------- We've lived here for almost 2 years now and I can honestly say they have been very good to us. Our first year we lived on a top floor 1 bed 1 bath because we were new to apartment life and didn't know the ins & outs of how it works. Needless to say, once we got into the spring and summer months we quickly noticed about a $100 increase in our electricity bill. So once our lease was up, we went went to the office and asked about a bottom floor and sure enough they had the one directly 2 floors down from us. Easiest move I will probably ever have to make. We are MUCH happier with our first floor apartment other than the occasional bug infestation of the summer months... But that just comes with the territory of living on the first floor. Also, once maintenance was notified they had pest control out within 3 days. 1 thing I will complain about is just recently I have started noticing that at night if its really quiet in our bedroom, I hear what sounds like someone lightly scratching styrofoam. Whether or not the noise has been there and I just haven't noticed it... I do not know... But I started looking around the room the other night and I realized there is an air vent right above our bathroom door... About where the noise sounds like it could be coming from.... So I wonder if there are mice or rats living in the walls and ac vents... Ick! But, since I don't know for sure I can't say that's a fact. Overall, Despite being over a decade old apartment complex, Steeplechase looks really good!! And Garret the manager is SO nice! He even remembers my name and I've maybe talked to him face to face twice. read more

Move in was super easy, the staff is really nice! The apartment needed some work but nothing that's not manageable. We enjoy living here so far. The only real downfall is the Gym area. This needs to be redone completely. Updated and working machines would be nice! Free weights, more than machine usable at once, working TV's that face the treadmills, not behind them LOL?! This apartment complex is not good. The management is terrible, you have to make complaints to property owner to get management to care. I logged my oven not working in they're website, and they didn't bother to come check it, they just marked on the site fixed. I complained about the sprinkler system spraying my car, not the grass ( they just turned it off for winter), so I have that to look forward to in a month or so. The traffic on 79 is heavy, hard to get in and out. With that new waterpark coming that's never going to improve. They let people store under stairwells, so I get to see that everyday. kids throw bubble gum everywhere, watch wear you step. Loud crashes in the middle of the night, but there is so many apartments, I can't tell where it is coming from. The only reason I gave a two star instead of one star is because they keep the office and grounds looking good, but that is just for show. read more

So far this has been a great place to live. I have yet to have any maintenance issues & the staff is very friendly. There are so many ammenities! Other than some of the residents with their loud music occassionally as they are pulling into their parking spaces, the noise is not too bad. It is very quiet at night. I wish the mailboxes were a little closer to the individual units and the parking lot needs to be re-done, but other than that...great place to live! read more

Disregard any tour you might get through their "model"! The model is NOT what you will get! The kitchen countertop was so old there was no finish left on it...all scratched up. The oven is at least 30 years old and the none of the burners fit the drip pans so your pots and pans won't sit level. Cabinets are painted white particle board. Dishwasher from the 70's has broken racks and doesn't drain well. Carpet had been shampooed but was minimally 10 years old and within the first 6 months every stain that ever was came back. The bathtubs had been caulked on top of caulk and painted over baseboards had ages old hair & debris stuck in them. 10 ft ceilings with nothing between you and upstairs neighbors means you hear every step they take. Beyond huge windows so plan to spend a pretty penny covering the cheap white mini-blinds from the 70's! Great hot-water heater, though! read more

The floor plans are great. The leasing office is nice enough but in need of updating. The computers are trash and the furniture should be taken to the dump. The theater and pool are mediocre and the furniture needs to be replaced. The gym is small with low end equipment and it smells like smoke around it. The grounds are just awful. No place for children to play so they are playing in the grass with the dog poop, bike riding in the parking lot or writing in chalk on the sidewalk. The buildings have not been painted in so long that wood is exposed and a lot of it has rotted. The grounds are pretty much free from litter but the hall areas outside of apartments have cigarettes butts, mud dauber nests, cobwebs and are an unsightly mess. If you are still interested, visit and walk around without staff. Go from building to building in the evening. I think that if Round Rock has a ghetto, this is it. I have read the positive reviews and cannot imagine that we are talking about the same place. read more

I am so happy I chose Steeplechase! I had an application in elsewhere before I decided I had better see just one more complex to be certain about my decision. As soon as I visited I rescinded that application and immediately put one in here. I have had nothing but kind and immediate attention to anything I requested be addressed. Upon move in the counters did look pretty bad. My main concern was not being held accountable for the fact they would easily be made worse quickly by me because the issue was peeling surfacing. I took pictures and just wanted them added to my file. That wasn't satisfactory to the manager, Garrett. Within 3 days or so I had counters in kitchen and bathroom with brand new surfacing that was so nice to arrange my things on without trying to hide the peeling! This past Saturday I requested a washer/dryer addendum for my lease with Brian who was filling in, but assured me he would get my request noted. Today brand new units were installed and not scary, dirty, used ones! I work 60-70 weeks so I don't get to spend much time at home. When I am home though I am continually happy with the choice I made. read more

When my husband and I moved to Round Rock we looked at several apartments. At first we were very impressed by the friendly staff and amenities for a fair rate. So we signed a year lease with Steeplechase. After getting settled in and back to our routine we discovered the gym had broken equipment, only one elliptical worked and children playing around in the gym often. The hot tub (which is the amenity that sold me) never worked. The basketball goal was always broken. Parking was terrible. They do offer covered parking for a fee but we were assured that the location of our new apartment had available free parking. Not true. This move turned into a true nightmare when summer hit. One night we noticed the AC wasn't working, we called for maintenance and he replaced the air filter. The next night it was extremely hot, when the maintenance man came back he claims nothing was wrong. Our apartment was 90 degrees all night!! We complained to the staff who were no longer friendly and offered no help. All they could say was we were on the 3rd floor and heat rises, and the apartment wasn't properly insulated. I had a friend living next door on the 3rd floor and her apartment was nice and cool. If these were to be their excuses then they should let future tenants know or invest in a livable apartment. We had a maintenance man visit our apartment 5 times with no solution. This was a living Hell!! It was 5 months of extreme heat and sleepless nights . At one point we put a window unit in and slept on the couches. It was still very miserable. Our electric bill was $280 for 3 months and not much cheaper the reminder of the summer. I won't even go into the ridiculous charges they came up with when staff was changed and no one could answer our questions when we contested. If I could rate Steeplechase less than one star I would. I have lived here for over a year. I have not had any problems. When my light bulb went out or when the hornets tried to make a nest in the breezeway, staff was here within an hour. The property is kept nice and clean and the staff are BEYOND amazing. I have never had such a good experience with an apartment complex before. The staff will go above and beyond normal customer service. On top of all that.... I pay some of the cheapest rent around, and they never raise it on you, even if the prices have gone up! read more

This place is a mess. My friend lived there and his motorcycle got stolen in January of this year. Now in October there was another attempt at stealing his bike. Lots of vandalism, lots of stolen items...even one of there own golf carts that maintenance uses!!! Safety is zilch at this place and the staff doesn't seem to give a rip at all. My friend was an ideal tenant, kept to himself, friendly when he talked with neighbors, paid his rent on time or EARLY and now they are trying to mess with him to get his security deposit back. REALLY????? That place is spotless and he moved out because of the issues listed above with only one month left on his lease. Give me a fricken break! read more

I will NEVER come back to this complex. I came to get a tour of the apartments. Upon walking in the Leasing office, I said just that and the gentleman that approached me said I need to schedule an appointment to take a tour. I don't think he understood when I told him that I work fulltime and the little time I do get is random and very short in time availability. I told him due to the future I have, which is bigger in size, I would need to look at a model 2b2b or 3b2b to get an idea of how much I need to downsize from the 4b4b I have currently. I then asked him, since the price in rent was extremely low, how the noise and community was like? He then responded with, "For that information, you can contact the local police department." I don't know if it was because I was wearing my workout clothes or what but this guy was completely rude and seemed like he was too good for my money. I have no problem paying $1500 for a 3 bed in a nicer complex if I have the safety for my 16 month old daughter and a nice apartment staff. Regards of anything this guy shouldn't have judged me based on my appearance because truth be told I make more money than him and could have paid a years rent in advance. His lose not mine!!!!
