This is a very low key bar in my opinion not much happening. Has an older crowed so I don't wanna honk someone looking for a hype loud place would enjoy it here. The bartenders here are sooo nice and social and some are also very handsome which is a plus. I love their signature drink called "the whisper" I would suggest trying that out if you like a good fruity drink like me. We got a order of mozzarella sticks which was nothing special it honestly tasted like the frozen ones you can get at the grocery store lol so I would suggest trying something els if you're not into that. Awesome place. Must check it out. The place is great because they manage to get the old-school whiskey bar feel with the perfect modern mix. They have large black and white pictures of Glendale from years back, which is really cool. They also always have some sort of old-school movie playing. The best part about The Famous is the quality drinks they make. Every bar tender looks like they know exactly what they're doing and they do it really well. Everything on the menu is just an amazing drink. I've never been disappointed in any drink I've gotten. The only slightly bad experience I had was when there were about 4 birthdays going on and it got way too crowded. Been here twice now, big fan of the place for 2 reasons: 1) Old fashioned is on point 2) Everything else Their whiskey drinks are legit legit. The selection is more than enough for the snobbiest of snobs and the bartenders are pros. I'd recommend getting any of your staple whiskey cocktails that you use as your benchmark for bartender skill and I can almost promise you won't be disappointed. The bar set up itself is really well done. The floor is spacious, the seating is plenty and comfortable (you get the bottle service vibe wherever you sit), and the decor is classy but also welcoming. I am so happy a place like this that has opened up in Glendale. Lord knows Glendale needs something new and exciting! I never think to hang out or go bar hoping in Glendale...EVER! Well now thing's have changed :) The bar itself is big and spacious...it would be hard for anyone to feel claustrophobic. The decor is great: perfectly dim lights, with brown-themed simple, classy furniture & the awesome touch of exposing the original brick wall of the building makes this place very cozy. I have to come here for happy hour; drink prices are a bit pricey ($12) but they are very stiff & the lovely mixology-trained bartenders will take their time to ensure your drink is just right. I had one of the bartenders dump the whole thing out cuz he didn't feel it tasted like it should. We met the owners who were super nice, so I wish them all the best & hope this place gains steam so it can be a success! read more

Bacon Bleu Cheese Burger! Dry aged beef, apple smoked bacon, bleu cheese crumble, sweet caramelized onions and arugula. Seriously, I devoured that delicious grilled burger! It was huge, but I couldn't be shy about it. It was just so tasty. It came with chips, I wished they served fries. (very limited menu) A nice dark bar with lots of seating and good music. Was here for trivia night with a bunch of people and it made for great entertainment. This venue is perfect for big groups. Parking was easy, 90ins free in the structure behind the bar. Took my wife to The Famous Valentine's evening....it'll be our first and last time. The place is spacious, looks great and wasn't crowded - positives! But the drinks were lacking in alcohol; especially for the price. Definitely need to have food available as well - appetizers would be great for them to survive! I have given this place too many tries to redeem themselves but instead of making things better they just got worst! The ambience it's decent with a some what mixed crowd though most are hipsters or wannabes in their twenties and early thirties. Service not the greatest and to add insult to injury their prices are high for crappie drinks! I ordered a mojito and it was the worst I've ever tasted and that's my drink so I know what it's supposed to taste like as I order it every time I go out and for the most part most places get it right. This place not only did they not get it right but when I told the bartender that it didn't taste right he was offended and proceeded to add a ton of sugar to try to fix it! Who does that? Fun atmosphere with board games to just relax and play with friends. Glendale is always nice because of the 90 minutes free parking. We only had to pay three bucks after being there for 2-3 hours. Drinks are strong... But I am still getting used to the alcohol portions (I'm from Utah ). They list all of the alcohol so you know what they can mix up for you. I tried gypsy tart beer which was interesting because it was sour beer.... Never heard of that before!! Big televisions makes it fun if you wanna watch a game. I like to consider myself a well-seasoned barfly. With that said, I am very picky and usually displeased. /end preface. I like The Famous! I saw it on yelp and happened to drive by it by chance (next to BevMo and across from Americana)... So I made a night of it. As a habit, I try to avoid "hipster" establishments. While The Famous has all the criteria to be one of these places, it, fortunately, is not. The crowd is not pretentious and the bartenders, while rocking fantastic mustaches and tight shirts, are not douchebags. The specialty drink menu has some old stand-by's as well as some signature drinks. They also have a $10 option where you tell the bartender what you want and they make it up custom. The bartenders are passionate and smart about their mixology and don't talk down to their clientele. That said, drinks are all about $12. They have a decent selection of beer (mostly craft, but some good generic stuff too) The food is sort of... Slim pickens. I've only ever had the pretzel. But it was good. Overall this place has plenty of seating and hasn't been overrun by snobs. So check it out. read more

My friends introduced me to The Famous this past weekend, thus solidifying their impeccable taste in bars (and my impeccable taste in friends). I am not a cocktail connoisseur, but after having some absolutely smooth and flavorful drinks here, I think I might want to become one. Our bartender was talkative and friendly while introducing new drinks to my palate. He would test the drinks (with a straw) to make sure they were up to his standard, and also let my friends try some of the liquors before committing to a glass. The rest of the staff was amiable and genuinely enthused about working. We arrived early, around 8:00 p.m., to avoid the nighttime rush. There are few tables, bar seats, and a loungey area with cushions/chairs. The ambiance at that time of night is low-key. The background music is low enough that you can hold a conversation, and the music itself is right up my alley. The drinks are priced at $12-14 for their menued cocktails, but the liquor is quality and the drinks are made with care, so it's worth spending that much. read more

Just a really great bar. The atmosphere is amazing, classic decor and very spacious. Really successful at pulling off the feeling that you are stepping into a different era. A huge selection of beer and whiskey. The specialty drinks were well crafted and reasonably priced. My favorite is the Live Young Die Fast which tastes of pepper and fresh basil. The bartenders really know their stuff and you can tell they make each drink with pride. I highly recommend stopping by to any visitor at the Americana. read more

Definitely a great spot to hangout and grab some drinks! I love the laid back ambiance, but at the same time not the loud sport bar-ish feel. It has a really nice high end chill vibe look to it. One of my favorite bars in Glendale! If a dive bar and classy lounge had a baby, it would be called "The Famous!" The bartenders are super cool and chill! Always looking forward to going back, because the experience is enjoyable EVERY time! They always have an amazing craft beer selection, and the wine pour is definitely a generous size. I've had their food once, about a year ago and I remember it being tasty. Music is usually playing, and there is a big projector that plays movies. There are really modern couches/tables/candles inside if you want to sit and have personal conversations (or have a big groups). I definitely recommend, but if you're a person that isn't a fan of a darker/dimmer bar, then this MAY not be the place for you, but I'd still try it out, because the product and atmosphere is worth it! read more

There's The Famous, and then there's The Valley Famous. This is definitely more of the latter. While I appreciate the creative decor and the digital projectors streaming classic movies onto the exposed brick walls (I'm a sucker for exposed brick anything), I just can't get behind this place. Firstly, it's categorized as a 'hipster' bar. What? I lived in Los Feliz for several years and found myself at Intelligentsia and Broome Street General Store often. While there were a handful of awkward-looking twenty-somethings wearing plaid, this place has much more of a broheim kind of vibe than anything remotely hipster. The staff is very friendly, although it can be tough to get their attention even on a rather light Sunday evening. Not sure if they're understaffed or something, but at least they keep cool under pressure. The prices are a bit steep, considering the drinks are good but not great. And I'm not sure why they keep DJ Trainwreck on the decks, since her music selection is composed almost entirely of bad dance covers of classic rock and 80's pop hits and the woman couldn't beatmatch two songs together if her life depended on it. If you're not going to invest in a competent DJ, at least turn the volume down a *little*. All in all, this place is probably the best bar in Glendale. But that's not saying much when you have Hollywood and Downtown LA nearby. read more

Very cool bar that is a lot more spacious than it looks. Lots of interesting spirits to partake of but you won't find Makers Mark or Bacardi. Chris, one of the bartenders, was very attentive and cool to talk to. They were able to make a bourbon mint julep that was pretty tasty. The Mole Mole Mole Mole Mole was enjoyable too. And if you are a beer lover, they have Allagash Curieux on tap for only $7. Its so delicious. I'm imagining a glass of it now. Ahhh, cold and that hint of butter/caramel... I would give it 5 stars but I think they have a little bit of growing pains to work out. The worker who told my friend to take their baseball cap off at the bar was wearing a cap as well. Huh? The owner told the bartender he gave me too much of something in my drink but in front of me, instead of pulling him to the side. What, i'm not worth it? Looking forward to visiting again. read more

Been here twice now and loved it both times. I can only speak from a non-busy/non-crowded time though. (I can't stand going to places during their rush). The cocktail menu has some delicious gems on it. I leaned towards the "victory pigeon" due to my love of ginger. OMG so good. Being there when it's empty is a bonus. You get to talk to the bartender(s) who are ACTUAL bartenders with knowledge and talent for creating drinks. It's so refreshing. Our bartender guru, sorry i forget the name, made us an altered variation of the Spa Water by adding some gin and it was fantastic. And i don't even like gin (or so I thought). He also let us taste their home made ginger syrup and told us how we could make it. That stuff is like crack. Highly recommend any drink made with it. He also made us a variation of the classic daiquiri, and when he reached for my favorite dark rum (diplomatico), I was surprised & pleased (why had I not thought of making one with my favorite dark rum before? ). It was delish. If you're a fan of well crafted cocktails, I recommend getting here early and enjoying a couple while talking about your favorite brands/libations with the bartender. If you're going to pay $10-$12 for a cocktail, please don't bother with a rum/coke or vodka/redbull at some dive bar. Only a well crafted masterpiece is worth those prices. Glendale needed a spot like this like a sandwich needs bread. A few friends and I decided to get a drink on a Tuesday night and catch up. One of them suggested the Famous on Brand and how it was nice and different than anything ever seen in Glendale. Initially I wanted to go somewhere else, given the history of bars that have opened in Glendale, but hesitantly agreed with the herd. Upon entering, you notice all the retro pictures on the wall and the open layout of the bar. The bartenders are really cool and provide a lot of suggestions upon asking. To our surprise, they had live music that night as well. They have some very rare hard liquour which is fun to try out as opposed to the main stream stuff everybody else and their mothers serve in LA. All in all, I definitely recommend a visit to the Famous whether it be to celebrate a special event or just to hand with friends and catch up. read more

I live in Americana and We went with friends to have couple of drinks on Friday evening. Place was not too big but was crowded. I didn't like music so much and I didn't enjoyed so much as my friends they took a beer but there is not big choice of drinks for ladies. I ask for martini Rossi asti they did classic martini which I don't like because there too much vodka. They don't have champaign that was pity because I don't drink strong drink but company was nice so I manage somehow but don't think I will go again read more

The Famous is the best bar in Glendale!! Not that that is saying much considering there isn't a half decent bar in the area. I would give this place a 3.5 starts but it gets a 4 for a few reasons depending on when you go and how packed it is. Went twice and 2 different experiences. Why 4 stars? Has a great list of Bourbons/Whiskeys. If you are a Whiskey drinker this is your spot to check out, especially in the area. It probably has a better list of Bourbons than other bars in most of LA which was pretty impressive. The drinks are made well and at a pretty reasonable price. The bar itself is very nice and they play various silent movies projected onto the wall. They played Dumb and Dumber the first time I went and this in in itself was a reason to come back and rate it 4 stars. I mean who doesn't like Dumb and Dumber. It's a large space (depending on how crowded it gets). Why 3.5 stars? When it gets packed, it was hella packed. It gets really loud and took FOREVER to get a drink at the bar the second time I went. Best to reserve a table if you can. We had a party with a table the second time and everyone bumps you with no regard causing you to spill half your drink all over yourself and someone else. All in all if you go on the right night place is great. If you go when it is packed good luck because it will piss you off something awful one way or another. Have fun!
