5.0 / 5.0 This is a wonderful and comfortable cafe with excellent service every time I visit! It has both counter and table seating, and it's usually relatively empty even on weekdays! The seasonal drinks are delicious, and the mugs they're served in are all different and cute! They always give you a small cookie as a complimentary treat, and if you go with children, they even give them orange juice. There are board games available, so children can enjoy themselves too. The staff's thoughtfulness is heartwarming. It's one of those cafes I want to visit again and again.

Super cute neighborhood spot- vibes are so cozy, old school. Different from coffee shops nowadays that have that "clean modern" vibe, the fancy kook is like a warm hug with TONS of personality. You will be surrounded by brick walls and cute drawings/ art on the walls. I love the doodles on the wall that are of these random quotes, that really speak to me :) Pastries include vegan & gluten-free options. Love the homemade vegan almond croissant bar- i could eat it everyday. The perfect dessert/ accompaniment to a cup of coffee. Coffee-wise, I liked their flat white when I tried it the first time. During my second visit I got a drip coffee, which tasted slightly burnt to be completely honest. If you sit inside, they do serve your coffee with a shot of OJ which is so cute! They have the usual assortment of non-dairy milks, like oat milk. There is a bathroom for customers. Service is good- friendly staff. Overall I would def come back, and for me I will stick to the espresso drinks.

I kept seeing people post about the Fancy Kook on Instagram, and I knew I wanted to check out their cakes! When I found out my friend lives across the street, we had to go try it! I had a slice of the banana chocolate chip cake. It was very moist and delicious. My friend had the rose cake, which she also enjoyed. I liked my oat milk latte. They give a little shot of orange juice on the side. We had a nice time sitting in the coffee shop and eating our breakfast. They have a decent amount of seating, and they limit laptop use to make sure customers have a place to sit.

The Fancy Kook is such a cute and cozy coffee shop in the UES that is a true hidden gem! I love this place. Service was so so friendly, the drinks and pastries were delicious, they allow computers (only at high top tables), have wifi, and they have a (clean) bathroom! Seriously come check this place out if you're in the area and want a nice café to sit/work at. Carrot Cake Latte (8.7/10): This is something on their Easter/seasonal menu. All the drinks/coffees come with an adorable baby shot of orange juice and a small sugar/butter cookie which really elevated the coffee experience. I LOVED the carrot cake latte. It's basically a latte topped with a carrot-cake spiced cream cheese cold foam and pecans and cinnamon. The cold foam was sooo delicious and actually tasted like a carrot cake. Highly recommend everyone try before it's gone Mud Hen Bar (7.5/10): This is a cookie bar with chocolate ganache, blackberry jam, and brown sugar meringue. Very interesting to try the blackberry jam and chocolate flavor combo Victoria Sponge (8.5/10): This was an adorable bunny-shaped sponge cake with a layer of fresh berry jam and frosting in between. I thought the cake was super light and fluffy. The fresh raspberry/blueberry in the center was also wonderful. I would 100% come back and try other seasonal items / desserts!

Laptops only allowed at the countertops. I do appreciate the fun mugs, and OJ and biscotti with every order

Cute coffee shop in the UES! Ordered an iced coffee and I think all the drinks come with a small cookie and shot of orange juice. The presentation is super cute and there are several small tables for a quick catch up or study session. The coffee itself didn't "wow" me, but would be open to trying some of their seasonal drinks in the future! Bathroom was very clean and it's surprisingly more spacious than it may appear from the outside.

Both the WiFi and the coffee are strong, so what more do you need? It's cool, cozy, and clean, with friendly service and a free shot of orange juice with your order. One rule to note: there is a laptop restriction. To maximize space for other customers, laptops are only allowed at the high top stools (I saw approximately six or so). If those are taken, solo sippers are limited to phones/books/your own thoughts. *shudders*

Drinks alright but vibes and service were outstanding!!! Stumbled upon this coffee shop and was immediately drawn to the cute lights and the giant open window. I got take out the first time, but on second visit had some time to sit down. They bring out your drinks with a little butter cookie, +/- if you order a snack, all on a this little cute wooden tray! Staff were French speaking and were really nice when asking for recommendations/clarification questions. For drinks, I got to try: -Banana split mocha: tasted like what it sounds like! The coffee/chocolate flavors were on the subtle side, but the banana flavors were very prominent. Almost felt like a dirty banana smoothie with an espresso shot. -Latte: Pretty standard; felt like the milk to espresso ratio was a little high -Zodiac sign tea: You pick between green vs black tea, and the tea bag comes in the shape of your zodiac sign of choice. Felt like the tea bag was a little small so tea flavors weren't as strong as I had hoped. I nevertheless loved how the mug was helpful in keeping my tea warm for most of my visit. Bedsides the cute open window in the front, the back was also very aesthetic! There are some regular wooden tables and some high top desks, as well as a little couch tucked in the back with a window showcasing several pieces of artwork. Laptops only allowed on high top desks; definitely had more plugs in that area. Other little things include a free gumball machine for poems and a typewriter on display. Lighting was pretty bright and music wasn't too loud for me. Taken together, I can definitely see myself doing work or meeting up with people here!

RATING : 8.3/10 Pro tip: make some time to sit in, and get a free little cookie and some fresh OJ in a tiny glass along with your coffee! Really enjoyed this spot for a weekend coffee moment. Great place to sit down and get some work done/read as well. Not only are the vibes on point, the bathroom super clean, the staff friendly, but the coffee is some of the best in the neighborhood which is much needed in the UES. It doesn't feel like I'm settling when I have coffee here. Got a cappuccino and the milk was nicely frost and the drink felt cohesive instead of drinking milk and then coffee. FINAL CATEGORY: GREAT / EXCELLENT (Terrible / bad / ok / GREAT / EXCELLENT)

The Fancy Kook started as a hobby two generations ago. This is a woman owned business that was started by friends. These ladies have a passion for taking everyday moments and spinning them into special memories. They believe (as I do) that food is one of the most remarkable parts of any occasion. Food has the power to make memories sweeter. These ladies want to take you back to your childhood. They have treats like double butterscotch cookies, PB jelly mini cookie donuts, and decorated cakes. Don't forget to check out the marshmallow pops and bonbons. The Fancy Kook is for days when I want a sweet indulgence in a warm and inviting atmosphere on a winter day. There's seating in the back for getting together with friends and family. When I'm alone I like window seats. I'll be back and have lots of mouthwatering photos to post.

The orange has a base made of chocolate Rice Krispies. All of them have more fruity filling than the mousse. They are very fragile. I recommend eating there if you can. Finding can be a challenge because it's busy and there aren't many seats. I got mine to go just to be taken to the park across the street . The mushroom kind are totally ruined. It has strawberriy jelly and it was a mess. The orange one was almost ruined too. The mango has some diced mangoes. I devoured three of them instantly. Definitely come back to try more.

There was no place to sit down because of how busy it was but the staff kept the line moving quick enough. The place still seemed reasonably stocked with their desserts and treats, despite the late afternoon time that I arrived. I ordered 4 different treats to go and they're packed in small box individually. Unfortunately, they didn't quite stay intact during my trek back to my hotel and were tumbled around in the boxes. Nonetheless, the taste and flavors held up well and even after a few days in the fridge. The yuzu daisy has this vivid pastel yellow-pink base and adorable gelatinous yellow gem atop a white flower. The yuzu gives a subtle infusion of tart that is balanced out by the light delicate skin texture of the rest. Sitting atop a thin round rice crispy. I loved the red mushroom one which is a creamy pink mousse inside the cap. The stalk is a thin porcelain-white chocolate light base also filled with a rich cream. Adjacent are two cute little tree nuts. The orange and mango have such vivid colors and are aesthetically pleasing too. Just like the previous ones, their delicate chocolate exterior houses a rich tarty mousse-y filling. I think the mushroom has a better balance and variety of flavors. Although I don't eat mousse treats often, I look forward to trying some of the other ones in the future, like the blueberry, banana and cloud.

This used to be my favorite Italian bakery. I haven't been to this bakery in years like ten years…read moresince I was a teenager. Today I decided to make a special trip to go here to grab a few goodies. I forgot how small the place was and how low the ceilings were. That wasn't an issue though. The place was nice and cakes were stacked neatly. What was surprising to me is that they don't have any cookies laid in the front display. It's all placed in the back almost hidden. I was deeply disappointed with their cookie selection. It was deeply surprising that they don't sell the butter cookies that had jam in the middle and dipped with chocolate on one side with sprinkles. I did ask the clerk and even showed him a pic of what I was looking for and he said they never sold them. They only had the linzer cookies and they didn't look so good. They also did not have the lobster tail. They did have the sfogliatelle which they also called a lobster tail. I thought they were not the same? Some bakeries sell both and they are definitely not the same. I did end up buying one of their sfogliatelle with cream and some rugelachs. The sfogliatelle was good but the rugelachs tasted slightly underbaked. It did taste fresh though unlike many I've had in other bakeries. However, for $28 per pound, I wouldn't get it again. For those not having lobster tail and not having the Italian cookies, I will have to give Veniero's a low rating. I never thought an Italian bakery would not carry staples. Very disappointed. I need to find another Italian bakery now.
