Love the Field, and playing and the field. Here on a Thursday night and the vibes are right. Lots of screens for a great game day vibe. And Ken is the best bartender, he makes a mean old fashioned. Pool table, happy hour 5-7 $2 off beer and $3 off wine and seltzers.

We found this around 1pm while looking for a bar that was showing the women's college basketball championship game. They had it on loud and on every screen. YES! The bartender was really nice and informed us they don't serve food until 3pm which was fine because we weren't hungry. They allowed you to DoorDash or order food next door from Sunny Grill and eat at the bar which I appreciate. My 3 stars is for being a fairly new spot and just not having all their stuff together. I ordered a drink and he said he didn't have the ingredients for it. We ordered 2 margaritas off of their cocktail list. When they arrived, neither of them had Montenegro (listed under the drink on the menu). Bartender said they don't make it like that anymore and they really need to update their menu. So I think this is a pretty cool spot but they just don't have it figured out yet and I get it when it's a new location/concept.

Had the pleasure of checking out The Field on their second night opening. There's definitely a lot of potential here, but they do have some kinks to work out. Pros - Every bartender was welcoming and friendly. - Good amount of TVs and seating. You'll find more in the back, and they have an outside patio. - Good variety of food and cocktails. - The burger and fries was really good. Burger was too salty, but I thought the texture and cook level was perfect. Cons - Bartenders need more training. I ordered a margarita, the first cocktail on their menu, and the bartender had to ask another one how to make it. It ended up being sour with too much lime juice. - Pricing for the apps need to get adjusted. The burger and fries is $16, whereas the cheesy popper puffers is $15, but you only get 6, and is half the size of burger and fries. Overall, I found the place welcoming, and nice addition to have a sports bar in Mar Vista. They just need to get their kinks figured out and better train their bartenders.

The perfect local sports bar. Good vibes, good food, and so refreshingly unpretentious in a city like LA. Prices are reasonable and the staff is terrific. The vibe is cool with lots of artwork, and free pool table! They stream all the fights and you get to write on the chalkboard walls.

A friend of mine told me they show Premier League Soccer games early in the morning and later afternoon have not been fortunate enough to catch one but hope to this year. UCB was also on my schedule to support my comedian friends on stage. Back then, I'd catch a comedy show multiple times a week - and I realized I really miss that part of me. Laughter is sunshine for the soul and it makes me happy to get my daily stress out with some giggles. *** COMEDY x SPORTS BAR *** To keep with the Yelp Elite's 2026 theme of doing more hobbies, I decided to tap into one of mine, which I almost totally forgot about. So when I heard about HOLLY STARR'S OPEN MIC night from one of the guests I met at The LA Breakfast Club last month, I thought I'd check it out. I was in the Culver City area on a random Tuesday and wanted to avoid LA traffic back to the Eastside. *** THE PUB STUFF *** Joxer Daly's is a great sports bar with lots of TVs, a decent-sized stage with seating area, and some fun games in the corner. Every Tuesday at 8pm, that stage is set for LA's comedians who want to try out new material in an intimate setting. There's a ONE DRINK MINIMUM, which isn't hard considering they have a slew of brews on tap, one cider, and a full bar with top shelf choices & well drink specials. There's also bar food to snack on. Since I was drinking Guinness, it also served as my dinner for the night. *** THE DEETS FOR COMEDIANS *** 7:45pm. SIGN UP. The FIRST 10 to sign up, get center stage and all eyeballs focused on them for a dedicated amount of time. What I liked about this crowd is that everyone was really cool and it felt like a community. Some of the comedians were friends, some were stopping by to just test their wit. Some jokes landed, some not so much. Either way, no hecklers in this crowd and everyone put on their big boy/girl pants to show their respect. All the support was genuine. And it was all very inclusive with a he, she, they in the bunch offering diverse POVs and different styles & punchlines. Other highlights: From what I heard, there's always at least one professional, touring comic at the mic. So you never know who may show up. (This is LA of course.) Also, no need to search endlessly for a spot or feed a meter while anxiously checking your watch because there's plenty of FREE STREET PARKING, which is a luxury on the Westside. And laughs are also complimentary. Perhaps one day, I may dare to step up to that mic, but I'll need to excavate my pent up mommy issues or let another decade or pandemic pass. For now, I'll hide behind my laptop and save the stage for the real comedians in LA trying to make it & make me laugh -- even if I am the butt of their jokes.

My friend Conrand I are pool players, casual one's for sure. We do not dream of playing pool in…read morefuture Olympic games. But there is something quite wonderful about chasing pool tables at different dive bars. Namely that one does not know what billiards may bring. On this night, Conrad and I ended up at this cozy joint (pun intended) to handle some sticks with grace and alignment. And we did discover some fun and, on this occassion, a tattoo with wisdom that we should all heed, "the more we value things outside our control the less control we have." As the picture I took shows there is a candle above the quote which signals, in my opinion, that this should be a mantra that should govern one's life, as the one we are given comes with a burning wick the moment we are born. And, if we worry about things that we cannot mold to our liking or design, then we miss what is for us, time and again. But I visit dive bars so please take what I am saying with a dot of tattoo needle. One of the things that I really appreiated about this bar was the fact that I could use my credit card to get quarters. I never had that option and it was useful when needed. I ve been to other bars and that did not hapen. I mean who carries cash? I mean quarters? I guess people who need to pay meters and laundermats but they also have card options for them. Is this place ahead of the curve or other places in pace? I have been to bars and one is suppose to wait until the bartender is ready to serve you. But some people, me being one of them, thinks that the squeaky wheel gets the wheel. Or close mouth's dont get fed is the more apt, tired, saying. So I called the bartender over, had my shot, so I spoke. And she ignored me. Her choice. It is a legitimate process to avoid demanding customers. I then looked at a sign in the bar and it reminded me to "Behave." I do not know, but I highly suspect, that the sign worked on multiple levels and one of them was to remind the demanding lot to chill and wait their turn. So I did. Still I think that sometimes speaking up is the best way to get faster service. I mean, obvious, I know, but how many people sit and wait there turn to be given a beer that should have sooner rather than later. They "behaved" and their prize was a beer that waited for them to act and came when it was ready, not when they were thirsty. Even though Conrad and I went to play pool, the wait was too long. Like over 40 minutes long. There was other stuff we can do it had all the dive bar classics that are needed for a good time. Plus this place had charm. Pictures of big fish caught by people. Plus the people in there spoke about trips to Portugal and early mornings. So the people there might have a tip on a stock. As we drove away Conrad and I notice that they open the spot at 6:00 a.m,. And we were like who is drinking at the hour in a socially acceptable way, that is also healthy? I told him that the one time I had beer with my breakfast was on St. Patrick's day. So I did as the Irishmen did. Now I am left wondering who drinks beer before the trike of 9:00 a.m. and legitimately does it as a safe practice?

The N17 burger and fries (both the regular shoe string fries and sweet potato fries) were fantastic! Both were cooked just right, very flavorful, and the fries were nice and crispy. The atmosphere and design of the restaurant in front isn't your typical "sports bar" - it feels more like a cute, sunny brunch restaurant with high-quality screens for sports viewing - but the clientele feels just like any other sports bar would :) It was very lively and fun to watch with others last night.
