Food is phenomenal with portion sizes nearly unheard of. My husband and I split the combo and added shrimp -$20 its a great deal. My only downside was on the way out I heard who I assume was the owner make a racial slur about another local business. It's 2020- we don't use that term to describe POC (people of color), I'm sure you could have just used his name instead of a racial slur. read more

Can't rate the fish, but tried to eat here twice and weren't able to order. The first time, we arrived and found out they were closed from 2pm til 4pm. The 2nd time, we walked up and they were open. Cardboard signs saying "cash only" and "take out only, no restrooms". We walked up and before we even got through the door, the guy behind the counter, not smiling, said, "I'm not taking any orders. There's a huge group of people that just ordered (about eight) and I'm not taking anymore orders until I get caught up." My wife then asked if we was closing at 2pm again and he replied, "not planning on it". We were disappointed on our first try...because they sold out, and we were too late! Tried again this evening, and OMG, WOW! The BEST fish and shrimp I have ever eaten in 60 years (and I grew up in a commercial fisherman's family!) They've got it down: light, crispy batter, perfectly cooked fish and shrimp. It's clear they care for their oil, too. (Hope they have the fish tacos next time we're in town. I would love to try those.) The only negative for me was the fries. (Even though they were crinkle cut, I wished they were thicker. These were like shoestring crinkle. A minor point that doesn't effect the rating, imho.) My Wife and I are camping at Fort Stevens State Park which is probably the BEST State Park I've ever stayed at, we've been doing a 70 day tour of Oregon State Parks on the Coast, we has some mail forwarded to the Hammond Post Office which was a pleasure to deal with, I looked on Yelp and to my surprise the Fish Mongers was right behind me, now this is a fantastic little friendly family business, we both has the 2 piece Cod Fish and Chips, when it was ready they brought our order outside to us, when we opened up our order boy was I SURPRISED!!! Huge pieces of Cod with a crispy batter on top of a beautiful bed of perfect fries, homemade tarter sauce and potato salad, I was so excited to dig into this outstanding Flakey Tender Cod with this crispy outside batter that I completely forgot to take pictures and I'm so sorry, we have been on a 70 day trip to Oregon State Park's and I've had Fish and Chips a dozen times coming up this Coastline but THIS IS BY FAT THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS I'VE EVER HAD!!! Was greeted with a smile when we walked through the door. Ordered the 3 piece cod fish and chips and we each got an extra piece of fish. The fish was not greasy, lots of fries and the tartar sauce was to die for. I WISH we had a place like this in Seattle. Amazing portions, freshest of fish, totally delicious. The only thing that it is missing is indoor tables but I would rather eat this in my car than eat anything less in the finest of restaurants. The owner and the person taking orders were very friendly. It was. A great experience. We got a $15 combo (cod, tuna, & Rockfish) with the add shrimp (large for what most people call prawns"for $5. For $20, my wife and I split it and could only eat the fish and a little bit of the pile of fries included. The tuna was moist and delicious. I had only had Tuna and chips one at the famous Astoria Bowpicker but enjoyed this even more. Tarter sauce was very good, and the cocktail sauce was amazing. Good level of horseradish without being too hot. My son got the 3 piece cod but they must not have been satisfied with the size of the pieces because he ended up with 4 pieces. $12. I, like so many others on here, was drawn by the Yelp reviews. And like the others, I was not disappointed! It is a very simple menu. You're either having fish & chips, or fish tacos. I went with the tacos, albeit reluctantly. Usually places give you these little skimpy tacos that don't fill you up. Not even close. These things were monsters! I can eat my fair share, and would've been just fine with two. They give you three. The fish tacos were extremely well done. Perfectly cooked, not overly breaded, plenty of coleslaw, and a taco shell boat that not only holds it all, but maintains it's crispyness throughout. The depth and balance of flavors was amazing for such a simple item. There's not really anywhere to sit, so prepare to take your order to go. They do accept cards. read more

After reading the reviews,the wife and I decided to give it a try. She got the cod. It comes with a generous amount of fries and a small coleslaw. I got the tuna sandwich which had the same sides. Not wanting to go hungry, decided to set the cod tacos too. OMG! The cod was nice pieces without that thick breading. Cooked right and tasted very good. The tuna sandwich was so big (3/4 to 1 inch thick). It also had cheese, pickles,and tarter sauce. I'm a big guy but had trouble opening my mouth wide enough. Don't feel sorry for me, I took care of it. I try one of the tacos and tasted very good. The rest we had to take home. We travel a lot and try to go where the locals go to eat. This is the place. As Yelp description states, no public restrooms. There are only a couple tables outside,but we braved the chill. Definitely will go back there. Also staff were very friendly. read more
