I read the reviews. I looked at the photos. And I craved the golden brown home fries. Charming little cafe that exceeded our expectations. Very friendly mother and son team provide quick and efficient service and such a welcoming ambiance. My friend loved the eggs benedict, and I had the best home fries, scrambled eggs, and bacon I've ever had. Oh my, the bacon was perfection. I will now become a regular. Very reasonable pricing. My brother and I tried this place today. He had the potato latkes and I had the corned beef hash. Both were delicious, the latkes were cooked perfectly, my brother said these were the best he has eaten in a long time. The corned beef was homemade cooked perfectly with a nice crispness. The food came from the kitchen quickly and hot. It is a small place and a little pricey but worth it. I want to go back to try other dishes. read more

Had a great Mother's Day at the 5 Mile Cafe. They hosted our party of 14 in the private upstairs room. They couldn't have been more attentive, even given the number of people and the fact we weren't on the main floor. A few people that had the challah French toast said it was the best they ever had. I had the Eggs Benedict and it was cooked perfect. They were very accommodative to a few modified orders and even with our large group, all the food managed to come out together. I've been back more recently for a quick lunch stop and had the Ahi Tuna wrap. Unbelievable and highly recommended from their lunch menu. We came in around 11:30 and there was only two other tables filled. By the time we left about 40 minutes later, the place was jammed, so they must be doing something right. read more

The Five Mile Cafe was by far the best breakfast food I have had in a restaurant in a very long time. The atmosphere was perfect for our family father's day/Juneteenth activities. My son came up from Texas and was so pleased to get genuine Jamaican breakfast. My pancakes were SUPERIOR and all the food was served piping hot. My omelette was made with REAL EGGS, not that synthetic stuff they use at chain food restaurants. The staff was highly professional and friendly. The cook came out to greet our table! We just wanted a nice place to have coffee. Once there we looked at the menu and had to order breakfast. What a pleasant surprise. The coffee was great, the food was hot and delicious. I ordered the western omelet, my husband the frittata, and MIL the French toasts. We all loved our meals. Sitting outside on a Saturday Morning sipping coffee and catching up underneath the umbrella on a cool morning- can't beat this! The staff was always courteous and professional. My husband and I go to the Five Mile Cafe every weekend for breakfast and we absolutely love it. The pancakes are the best pancakes in Rochester (especially the chocolate chip) and the portions are huge. The Jamaican Me Crazy Coffee is also very good. Great service and homey atmosphere. read more

Stopped in for brunch today. Quaint place. Very homey. Good menu selection. The kids had pancakes. They were so thick and fluffy. Smelled and tasted like white cake. Very delicious. Adults had broccoli quiche, eggs florentine, and turkey avocado panini. The quiche and eggs florentine came with home fries. I don't know if they were baked or deep fried but they were soo good! Panini would have been better with sliced avocado instead of a guacamole style spread. We'll definitely come back here. Curious to try their Friday night menu. Heavy on the fish dishes and they make their own pasta. read more

A really nice business. Owner was super concerned about our potential wait time to be seated (which, really wasn't long at all). And it was very worth the wait. My picky husband (who is very hard to please) actually was very complimentary of his breakfast and ate every last crumb. All of our dishes were very tasty. My sister and I stopped in for a late breakfast on Friday morning. What an awesome find.....we shared the Salvatore frittata and a short stack of pancakes. Since the waitress told us the frittata is dinner plate size we shared it .....and it was perfect. Thin exquisite egg pancake with potato, pepper, onion, sausage chunks and mozzarella on top....delicious. The pancakes were just about the best I've had in a LONG time.....wow. First you get hit with the most wonderful scent of vanilla wafting off them when they arrive.....they were huge, thick, tender and just....wow. We would come back for just the pancakes again. Wonderful little place, not very big but an assortment of table sizes. We sat on the front porch and although it's rather close quarters to the neighboring tables....we didn't mind it at all. I would highly recommend and am looking forward to going back...this could be a regular breakfast stop. read more

Valentines lunch with my love! Befitting a trip to the Five Mile Cafe; big on reputation in my household. First time for me, but 3rd time for Wifey. I ordered the signature dish: Crabcake Bennies! Two poached eggs over home made Crab cakes atop English muffins, and topped with Hollendaise (sp?) sauce. I can sing the praise of the tangy Hollendaise, or the eggs poached to perfection, but nothing approaches the level of excellence in the Crab Cakes! Sweet, crispy, luscious... (insert your favorite expletive). "Well done good and faithful servant." But the best part of the experience, the family that owns the establishment. Love them! This is a beautiful location and has very cosy feel. They have neat little place with nice decor, indoor and outdoor seating. However, everything else leaves much to be desired. Food was subpar. My husband got biscuits and gravy and it was salty. Corn beef hash was fatty. My Jamaican coffee was good brew. But food was so so. Service needs huge improvement. I hate it when you order coffee and the person hands it. Please use trays. It took a while to get food. But I understand sometimes it happens. I felt as if they didn't care much about customer service. Not going again. read more

Best place in the area for breakfast. I must pass two dozen breakfast places on my way to the File Mile Cafe. The atmosphere is intimate, workers are beyond friendly and professional, and their potatoes... well ... you just can't get anything as good anyplace else. I've never had anything there that I haven't been wild about. My wife ordered fruit instead of potatoes with her eggs and the fruit was fresh cut. Can't beat that! read more

So good, I had to write a Yelp review about it!!! The style of this place is awesome, with many personal touches that have NOT been in vain - they really add to the ambiance. Many cute breakfast places have tacky interior design/decor, but get away with it because they're cute breakfast places; 5 Mile Cafe (5MC) is cute AND fashionable. Though I went for a breakfast classic, eggs benedict, there were many creative options to choose from that I would love to try in the future, like deep-fried banana bread and sweet cream pancakes. We ate on the porch, which was a great spot for a beautiful morning! Quite simply, I was blown away by 5MC. Having never heard anything of it, we went on a whim (choosing it over Panera). I have already highly recommended this cafe to a friend, and will continue to do so! And the Penfield Post or D&C or Rochester Mag better get over there and write a worthy article! read more

Great brunch, the eggs and hash browns are always on point. I get the food delivered mostly, and it is always fresh and warm.

A Sunday breakfast tradition with my family now. We don't do the buffet, because ordering off menu is almost as fast and you have more to choose from. Healthy sized portions, and very fresh. Stopped there for breakfast recently. Ordered coffee, biscuits and gravy, link sausage, and two scrambled light. The biscuits were very dry and served with not much gravy. Just two links of sausage were delivered. The eggs are OK but they must be using very small eggs. The waitress was not very well versed in ordering terminology. She didn't know what eggs scrambled light meant! The bill came to $12 and something with tip. Not a particularly good value. read more

My husband and I love love love this breakfast spot. He almost always gets the Five Mile Plate (potatoes, meat, and your choice of eggs, smothered with their Rochester-style hot sauce, AND toast), and I have been getting the Latkes (served with your choice of eggs, bacon, sour cream and applesauce.). The bacon is not too salty and cooked perfectly crispy/chewy. And of course we get the Jamaican Me Crazy coffee!! Yum!! Service does take a bit longer but that doesn't bother us at all. read more

I love this place for breakfast but never order a salad there. I ordered a chicken fajita salad $13 it came in a 8-9 inch shallow bowl with a side of dressing which was barely enough to dress the salad, it was tasty but for the money it was not worth it. I will stick to breakfast there. read more

The food is all right. The service is friendly but terrible. Dry pancakes with no butter or syrup even after asking multiple times. One coffee even after asking for a refill multiple times. No cream, and no offer of cream. I asked for it, and never got it. The restaurant was about half full at the time. I love this place. We came after looking up breakfast / lunch near us, and God brought us here. The food was AWESOME, they were so accommodating, even letting my group and me change to a larger table so we could do our studies together while we ate. The chef herself came out and introduced herself and gave us a tour of her restaurant, and welcomed us back anytime. The 4 of us split two entrees and a side each. 2 of us shared a veggie omelet with provolone and feta, and a pancake on the side, and the other 2 of us shared the Italian sausage frittata with a side of sausage biscuits and gravy. Both we ordered with cinnamon raisin toast. Really quality food, and wonderful service. I look forward to coming here and making this my new cafe spot read more
