    The before and after!
    Maria Lee H.

Having worked with multiple contractors over the last 10 years of living here in Austin, I can say that working with Kristi at The Fix it Chick was the best experience. It was so good that 1/2 way into our master bathroom remodel I was already dreaming of the next project! Kristi and her team are true professionals. The project was slated for 5 weeks and it was, in fact, completed in that time frame & within the budget. Two other contractors I've worked with misjudged materials OR over extended their sub-contracted crews so the time overruns were MONTHS longer than the original timeline. We never had that issue with Kristi & crew. Her crew is HER CREW. She does NOT use sub-contractors, they are her staff and they have high standards since they all contribute to the success of their team. She does have a loose consortium with electrical and plumbers, but they all are used to working together and help make all the coordination seamless. Besides the physical work & logistics, Kristi was very easy to work with when talking about the creative side of things. I have worked in design/manufacturing, so I had a good sense of what I wanted to do. She listened attentively and collaborated with me sharing her expertise when mine was lacking. This collaboration was FABULOUS and I both enjoyed the experience AND learned a lot from her. Onto the next remodel with Kristi & her crew at The Fix it Chick!

Working with Kristi to remodel our bathroom was the most streamlined, organized, easy experience I have ever had working with a contractor. She was on top of every detail, managing her crew and planning for all scenarios should they arise. She communicated clearly and promptly whenever she needed any decisions from us, and kept us informed on the few instances we had to pivot. Most importantly, she stuck to her schedule and even completed the job a few days ahead of schedule. She is also just a pleasure to work with! Would 100% recommend her services. Our bathroom looks better than we could have imagined. Literally feels like stepping into a spa every morning!

Our 1969 ranch home needed an overhaul of the original kitchen to bring it into the modern age in a timeless and classic fashion. Kristi delivered on our ask with my lookbook requests, creating the layout design and advising on design elements such as type of cabinets, location of lighting, correct/proper spacing and sizing, and providing color and hardware options for me to choose from. I knew exactly what I wanted but Kristi was a great sounding board. She also never took offense if I wanted to go a different direction and always sought to get me what I wanted. She has great relationships with local specialists ranging from flooring, stone for counters, cabinets, woodworkers, tilers, hvac, electrical and plumbing. She is very open about areas you may want to value engineer (i.e. spend more on areas that really add value and you love, spend less on those areas that don't) because there is a wide range of costs associated with everything from tile, hardware, appliances, to countertop stone! We felt like we were updated regularly and communicated with often. All projects run the risk of going over budget and over time due to unforseen issues or unknowns (especially with these older homes). We were fairly on budget and on time considering the large scope of the project and the primarily delays or overruns were due to our personal decisions to do more and expand scope. I correlate this to multiple things: well organized, many years of experience working with older homes and multiple types of customers and different tastes/designs, and efficient and runs a tight ship. All of these things are important to delivering results you want on time and on budget!

I've been dreaming of adding a screened patio to my backyard for more than a decade. Kristi and her FixIt Chick crew brought the dream to life in just a few short weeks, and the final result is so much more than I could have imagined. Kristi worked through pricing scenarios for flooring, siding and ceiling options so we could keep the home addition in budget while still maintaining a beautiful design. I felt I had a true partner throughout the project, rather than a transaction-focused contractor. Kristi cared as much about the final results as I did, and even provided more refined fit & finish details than I would have thought to request. It's impossible to overstate how comforting it was to have such trust in Kristi's expertise as the original patio and backing of my home were being demoed. Even if things looked scary, I knew Kristi was on it and all would be exactly as we had envisioned, if not better. Kristi visited regularly throughout the six weeks of construction, kept me informed of who was coming, when, and what they would be doing. All questions were answered promptly and she helped me better understand the construction taking place. It's no surprise given Kristi's expertise and exacting standards that she hires top-notch craftsmen to do the work. Construction, roofing, electrical, detailed concrete/flagstone work, custom woodwork, window installation, painting/staining-- I met almost everyone on Kristi's team. Without exception, they were all delightful to meet and work with throughout the project. There are none better, and there is no one who will make it easier or more made-to-order than Kristi and her remarkable crew.

I can't recommend Kristi and her crew enough! I had a client recommended the fix chick to me earlier this year. I started the process with about five quotes and she came in right under the highest. Heads up i had to wait a couple of weeks for a appointment. But after we met and I got the estimate I could tell why. The estimate was very through and easy to read and understand. There was a contract and payment plan once I decided to go with her. Is she booked out yes but I didn't want someone available right away. Plus it gave me plenty of time to plan things out. I opted to buy all the fun stuff and if I had any questions Kristi was quick to assist me. Communication was five stars as well. All of the subs were nice and took good care of my home. The job was quoted to take 6 weeks but took 7 due to some delays on tile. Any of the issues that arose because you have to go into these things knowing they will. None of it matters because the work looks so good. Still can't believe these are our bathrooms! Thank you Kristi and crew! I'm already dreaming about what's next and hope to hire you again

kitchen renovation and bedroom door install

Everyone should hire this woman for their next renovation! I'm so luckily my husband found Kristi on a facebook post. At that time, we had already signed a contract with a different contractor that home depot recommended (statewide remodeling). Kristi replaced them after we caught statewide in a heap of lies, and bait and switch strategies. Kristi is amazing at her profession. Her design skills are fantastic and well thought out. Her communication is top notch. Her price is far lower than her competitors, and her spread sheet price quotes were very thorough. Kristi had great artistic vision, and offered cheaper options when sticking to my budget. Her team worked fast. She always stayed in touch with me throughout the day while I was at work. Her guys finished my kitchen and living room renovation within a month. Kristi took out my 1980s fireplace and windows, and replaced the space with a 120 inch sliding glass door. She gutted my 1980s kitchen and walls and completely redid everything. She also moved an interior door to make more room for the kitchen space. We are so happy Kristi did our project, and not the other chumps we initially found. I'm including photos of our project.

I have a 1980 condo in North Central Austin. A friend referred Kristi after I complimented her bathroom remodel. I met with Kristi, shared my ideas, showed her sample materials I wanted to use then got on her calendar. I didn't mind the wait as we had good chemistry and I knew she'd be the perfect person to gut my master upstairs bathroom and add new floors to the master bedroom. Kristi and her entire team of partners were amazing. At times done if them felt like family and that's a great feeling when you have a 6 week project in your home. Kristi even helped me solve for a hot upstairs by bringing in her HVAC partner. Sure it was scope creep but we ended up moving the AC to the attic from downstairs and adding new air ducts. We replaced carpet with bamboo flooring in the master bedroom and stair landing. As part of the process squeaky floors were fixed and the floors were reinforced. The master bathroom was a complete gut. Instead of explaining it, just check out my pictures. I'm already saving up so I can find another reason to work with The Fix It Chick again!

    Chimney - Before the work
    Timothy B.

Let me start by saying that I own a small business. In the past, I have had to turn down work because I was stretched too thin. I probably could have worked it out, but the end product would not have been representative of the quality of my work, so instead, I turned down the job. So while some people might post a negative review due to Kristi being unavailable to do the work, that fact does not have anything to do with the actual quality of her work. A few years ago I had removed the fireplace from inside our home to increase the space in our library/bar area. Although the inside looked good, we now had a useless chimney on the outside of our home. To remove it, I needed someone who could do roofing, siding, brick, electrical and gas. I got in touch with Kristi to see about getting a quote for the work. Every step of the way Kristi was great. She was very responsive to emails and text messages. She also made numerous suggestions, some of which we took and some of which we didn't. One suggestion we did take was to use hand-painted concrete tile instead of brick. The end product turned out better than we could have expected. And, because of the compromises we made along the way, we were able to stay true to the original quote (even though the tile turned out way more expensive than we initially thought!) Kristi is funny, personable and great to work with. We have many more projects planned for our house, including remodels of both bathrooms as well as our kitchen. I will be contacting Kristi for all of these.

Perfect! Looks like it was always there!

The bathroom had not been updated since the 70s and a small leak from the plumbing was starting to cause water spots on the ceiling of the room below. We had several companies come out to bid on the project but ultimately chose LFM because we trusted them and worked well with Tommy. The project went smoothly and Tommy frequently stopped by to check on progress. I really liked the WhatsApp thread used to communicate since it kept everyone on the same page. They also provided an easy to use spreadsheet to help track what we needed to purchase for the project and when we would need it. Tommy was always great to jump in and provide recommendations when we got stuck since this was our first remodel project. Our goal was to open up the room as much as possible since it was originally small and crammed. Tommy and Jose did a great job providing recommendations and confirming what we could and couldn't due with the space. They ended up creating a lot more space by removing a doorway frame, removing unnecessary soffits, and converting the door to a pocket door. The rest of the crew was always friendly and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. They were also easy to work with for any remaining punch list items. We love the final result and the kids are so happy to have a new (pink) bathroom to use. We also ended up adding a few small projects at the end since we had such a good experience with the team. We had them re-insulate our attic, including removal of the old insulation and foam boards. They also demoed a built-in cabinet in our hallway and repaired the wall so we can make the space more usable. Overall the LFM team was great to work with and we'll reach out again for our next project!

Horrible company and a very disappointing experience. We hired this company based on the positive…read morereviews, expecting professional and honest work. The contract was to insulate and drywall our detached garage, including R-30 wall and attic insulation, which we paid for in full. Unfortunately, their subcontractor installed R-15 insulation in the walls instead of the agreed-upon R-30. The attic was also only partially insulated. Because the attic was difficult to access, I asked the company to provide pictures showing the completed insulation. They sent me photos claiming to show our attic, but the pictures were actually of someone else's attic. I did not discover this until later, when an HVAC company was working in our attic and showed me pictures confirming that the insulation was only partially installed. This was not simply poor workmanship--it was misleading and dishonest. We paid for work that was not completed according to the contract, and we were given pictures that did not even show our property. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. Be extremely careful and verify the work yourself before making any final payment.

The bathtub in our rental property was in desperate need of repair after our tenant moved out (see…read morethe before pictures I've posted). I didn't have the budget to do a complete renovation so I got onto Yelp to find a reasonably priced company that would do a decent job resurfacing. Out of all the companies I contacted, Jose was the first person to respond to my request for a quote (he reached out to me in an hour or so). I read a review on here that says he does the classic "under promise and over deliver." I completely agree. He gave me a quote, but warned me it could be higher if they found some issues when they dug into the work. Thankfully we had none of those issues! We nailed down the scheduling over text, which for me is the most convenient way to schedule these kinds of things. He was very communicative when he needed to change the schedule by a day. Also, he was incredibly polite, professional, and attentive in all my interactions with him. They did the job in about 4 hours and I was blown away by how nice it looks. Not only did he fix the cracks and holes in the tub, but he also removed an outdated metal bar (for handing washcloths) and completely restored the tile around the top of the tub. The whole bathtub started as a dingy yellowed thing, and now gleams in a beautiful white color. Again, see the after pictures I posted. After they finished, Jose verbally went over how to care for the tub with me, and then he emailed me written instructions as well. In addition to that, Jose also gave me suggestions for replacing the hardware in the shower (you'll notice in the pictures there's no shower head or water handles...those are coming soon:). I highly recommend Jose and All Surface Renew. When it comes time to resurface the tub in my other property, I'll be contacting Jose again!

I absolutely could not be happier with All Surface and the job they did on a nasty rusted tub that…read moreI thought would require a costly replacement of probably $2K or more including labor. But I shot over a picture to All Surface, they said they could handle it, they refinished it, and it literally looks like it rolled straight out of the factory (and for roughly 1/4th the price of a replacement). The work is perfect, communications great, the price for the amount of work is very fair, and we are thrilled with the end result. These guys get 5 out of 5 with no need to round up ... I'd give 'em a 6 out of 5 if I could :-)
