When we finally were ready, I revisited Carpetworks plus a couple of other places. Carpetworks had the carpet and color we liked, for the best price (another shop had the exact same thing but would charge us thousands more). The installers did a fabulous job: super efficient and careful, managed the jenga of shuffling our furniture between rooms so the next room was always ready when the installer was ready, cleaned everything up. They are only interested in the actual sale. Anything after that was like pulling teeth! Any question, problem or concern I had, I had to physically go down to the store in order to get a response. Even the receipt I was given after the purchase only contained the total. I had to ask for an itemization. I worked with the store manager from start to finish. While very nice, she never returned my calls or addressed my concerns without me seeing her face to face. It's been over 2.5 months since I last called and expressed concern over excessive off gassing which was making my pregnant dtr feel ill and my son also reacting. All I asked was for her to check with Karastan, the mfg, for suggestions. Carpet had been in place for at least 2 mo. Room had been continuously aired out and an air purifier used. To this day, I still have NOT heard from her. No follow-up call, nothing. I predicted this would happen, but went ahead and made the call anyway. And no, I was not about to go down to the store yet again. When the installers damaged some of my furniture, the response was that had never happened before. I highly doubt that's true as accidents happen. I was hoping they had someone they could send out to do the repair, but they didn't. She finally offered to give me a small amount of $ to get the repair done which I appreciated, but to say this had never happened before, I'm totally shocked. This is just a snippet of issues as the list goes on and on.... I am happy with my new carpet itself, but the experience with this store was so deplorable, I had to share. I will certainly go elsewhere for my next flooring need.

In addition, my floor pattern was discontinued. The stair nose on our step from the kitchen to the family room was cracked badly, ready to break off and needed repair. After reaching out to a few other companies who wouldn't even return my call, I was frustrated. I met Don the owner when he came out to do some work for my employer. He took a look at the photos I had and asked me to come down to Precision to see what we could do about matching a different piece of stairnose. He ordered the piece of stairnose for me and a week later sent Eduardo out to do the install. Eduardo showed up a few minutes early which was refreshing. He was very professional answering all of my questions and addressing concerns. He did an outstanding job on the install. If you didn't know that the piece wasn't original you wouldn't be able to tell. We were very happy with the whole experience and would absolutely use Precision again. A measuring technician came out, took all the dimensions, and directed us to the 1020 W. San Carlos location to review their full carpet selection. At the store, we explained what we were looking for, compared carpet features and pricing, and worked with Dominic--who was very accommodating. His total project cost was competitive with the other quotes we received. We also wanted new baseboards that would match our freshly painted walls and trim. Dominic arranged to have the primed (but unpainted) 16' wood baseboards delivered ahead of installation, giving us time to paint everything before the carpet went in. Tip Our new carpet and pad are very soft and plush--great underfoot, especially on the stairs. Because the new flooring sits higher than the original laminate, our bedroom doors needed to be trimmed by about half an inch. We cut the doors ourselves, but it's worth asking whether your installer can include that as part of the project. Pros * Dominic is a true carpeting professional--he anticipated our needs and offered thoughtful guidance throughout the process. * Both the wood and carpet installation teams did solid, quality work. Cons * Some door trim was scuffed as the installers maneuvered large carpet rolls through our narrow hallway and doorways, so a bit of repainting was needed afterward.

Joseph came in and finished installing the carpet in one day (exceptional job as my initial review states). However my bathroom floor tile contractor was lagging behind. Therefore a 1/4 inch gap still remained, which Joseph spoke to my contractor about and coached him on what to do. Anyhow, Joseph agreed to come back in the future to "tuck in the carpet underneath the tile" to make it nice and seamless with a super smooth transition. Seriously, he did a phenomenal job and totally made the transition smooth, looks seamless, and feels great! No need for a transition piece... it looks amazing! I'm so happy! Robert was able to measure, and estimate my floor two months prior to the actual work because my kitchen project was taking so long. He knew it was going to take a while and advised me to do it sooner than later to lock in prices due to inventory and inflation issues that could occur. I don't know of any other company in this field that has better service and communication than Abby Carpet. Robert is attentive and is very personable. He let me keep the floor samples for as long as I needed to make a decision on which flooring I wanted. The floor associates at the store were also very knowledgeable and helpful while shopping in store for floor options. The actual floor work was clean and timely. He did a great job making sure not to damage the existing base boards. He actually recaulked them so they look better than it was before. I thank him for that. I will hire them again for any future carpet or flooring needs.
