I hopefully don't make this too long but back in 2019 I was in the middle of my home remodel and looking for a flooring company. Although I live in Walnut Creek, I was told by a friend to try the Floorstore (FS) in Dublin. And honestly, the beginning was fine, met with a representative he walked me through the pricing and different floors and I picked a floor out in my price range. However, the rep (although a nice guy) said my floors were fine to install and it turned out there were issues with the floor that I picked. We figured this out a quarter way through with the job. However, the FS, in particular, their regional VP (I think that is her title) Cambria came in and made it right. She didn't charge me anything for picking out a new floor or cost for demo or anything. We went with a thicker dark brown oiled floor that looked great (see pictures). However, we noticed early on while living on the new floors that the brown finish was coming up. We drop jelly and wait an hour to clean it up there became a white mark on the floor, we purchased the correct cleaning agent from the manufacturer, but it still did not matter our finishes were coming up all over the 1300+ sqft of floor in the house. Looked like our floors had eczema. The manufacture sent their inspectors out who said the cause for the finish coming up was due to a maintenance issue by the homeowner (too much elbow grease?). Regardless of this claim, Cambria sent out their best installer who recognized in a matter of minutes that something was off with these floors and they were defective. Now the FS could have still gone with their manufacture and hid behind that or tried to say well we did your demo for free and blah blah blah you pay half the cost. But they didn't, Cambria came out a second time and said it is our fault we will make it right we will give you a full refund and no cost to demo. And for the third time, I picked out floors more expensive than my prior ones got a fabulous discount, and didn't pay anything for installation, demo, furniture removal, custom refrigerator removal,  or anything. They sent me one of their best installers Bojan  Milosevic from European floors and they did a great job on the installation. Any issues we had with the floor or minor touch-ups with repainting the baseboards we needed they took care of.  The reason I wrote such a detailed review was not just to say the FS  is fabulous and there were no hiccups and that is why you should pick them but instead show you they are like all companies hardworking honest but not perfect. They have leadership that will fix their mistakes and tries their best to make it right and honestly that is all I can hope for in a company. I know there may be cynics who say, "I should have not gone through any of that". Well I can tell you life is not perfect and Companies like the FS help make an imperfect world much easier to navigate. read more

Apparently my previous review has been lost... More than a few years back we got sick of carpeting in our high traffic main floor. I came in and found a hardwood product I really liked. Everything was arranged. Installation day came, and I was at work, hubby was at home. Part way through the job he notices they are gluing the flooring down?? We had ordered a floating floor because we were concerned the slab was too moist for glue to adhere. ACK!! He called me, and they offered to install for free...but it had to be a glue down. We decide to go ahead with the job. VERY unhappy about this huge error, we have lived with the glue down for awhile. It is starting to show signs of lifting in some areas. Maybe it will fail, maybe not. I am also unhappy with the hardness of this manufactured product...and that no one that sold it to me mentioned it was so soft. Looks really *rustic* at this point. I will never shop at this store again. Simply not worth the risk. read more

Jill was very helpful in a weird situation. Our living room flooded; it will be another 2 months before we can put our room back together. To be able to use our room at all, we needed an inexpensive carpet to place over the cement until we can get the repairs done. Jill listened to our tale of woe and offered us a price even below their sales price for a small carpet. We have learned a lot this year. Loving the space you live in, is one of them. So, of course, we have been tackling our long To Do List this year. Paint home exterior, check! Paint the interior, check. Replace doors, check! Update our flooring, next! I was so excited to remove our "frat house" carpet and replace it with Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP). We searched all over the TriValley for the perfect flooring. We brought multiple samples home to compare and decide. Lisa S., at The Floor Store, was super helpful. There was a style not available in the store and Lisa readily ordered it for us. Ultimately, we went with Coretec Calypso Oak (the sample she ordered for us). Lisa explained the process and what to expect thoroughly. Everything from the estimator visit to the installation (3 days!) was professionally executed. The level of communication among Lisa, Carlos, and Ruben was truly appreciated, too. We are in love with our floors and will forever be grateful to Lisa and The Floor Store! read more

We're currently going through our project to replace our existing tile and carpet with luxury vinyl planks (LVP). I wanted to share our experience through the journey this far, from selecting our floors to where we are in our project. Selecting the floors: This was a pretty straight forward process. The Floor Store in Dublin has a great selection of products to choose from. The team on the floor is super knowledgeable and eager to help answer any questions you may have. Solid experience here. Measuring our layout: This was a pretty straight forward process as well. I will have a comment about this during the implementation of our project down below. The individual came and jotted down how much material we needed and that was the most of that exercise. Project Management: I wish we had a different project manager as things started to go down hill from here. As far as scheduling our implementation, that was straight forward. They were able to agree on a date for when we implement and that was the most of the involvement of the Project Manager. From what I've read below, I'm realizing that we should have asked for Teza as it appears he spends much more time in focusing on customer service than who we had (I honestly can't even think of their name). Project Implementation: Honestly, the crew inputting our LVP have been spectacular. They are very clean, fast, communicative, etc. This experience, is the only reason why I decided to give them 2 stars (1 is mandatory). This team deserves both stars. Keep in mind, they are not The Floor Stores employees but rather contracted our through The Floor Stores vetting process. Again, amazing group of guys. This is the stage though where things started to go wrong working with The Floor Store. Issue one during implementation: Day 1 of our implementation we had the project start and luckily my wife had come back up to check how things were going. While doing so, one of the men were cutting our LVPs based on a design that our "Project Manager" had provided to them. Keep in mind, the PM did not work with us in specifying what directions our floor should flow. The diagram my wife reviewed had the floors going horizontally rather than vertically. This would have caused a complete distraction when looking at the floors. Luckily my wife caught this and the installers were kind enough to also suggest, based on their experience, to have them aligned vertically. Again, a miss from The Floor Store. Issue two during implementation: As expected in any install of floors, you may run into imperfections from your floor which may require you to make some changes to the subfloor. Our home was no exception. We didn't have any issues in making these changes. What was extremely surprising for us, is how much profit The Floor Store takes from this process. The pricing that was part of our contract was $50/bag of material and $150/bag of install. Keep in mind, this is the first time we've taken on a project of this size so we didn't realize how many bags would be needed in the scenario we have to relevel our floors. For our project, we discovered we need 15 bags. To do the math, this equates to the following: Materials: 15*75 = $1,125. This, I'll leave as I was able to match this to be roughly $40 per bag to purchase commercially. I believe it also requires some leveler liquid as well. I realize there may be discounts when purchased in bulk but an extra $525 for the size of our project, was nothing to complain about. Labor: 15*150 = $2,250. This was outrageous! In fact, when you combine the $1,125 + $2,250 = $3,375, it equates to more than 10% of our budget ($31k)!! In order for the project to continue, I needed to give them a response on how I wanted to move forward. I immediately called them and asked that the price was extremely high and to lower the bill. I was told that this is a "standard price" that they use and that if I didn't choose to implement this, then I would lose the "for life" installation guarantee. So they basically pin to get this. So I agreed to move forward as I didn't have any options but asked to lower the price. Where we left off, it was $2,250. I then assumed that the time to implement the project will now take much longer given the price on labor. As soon as I gave the go, the team got to level the floors. This process, at max, took ~3hrs (including the sanding of the material to have level). If I do the math and subtract $500 (15 x $50/bag) from $2,250, it equates to $1,500. This means that for the 3hrs of work, it equated to $500/hr. There is no way the contractor charges that much. The majority of that cost is from The Floor Store surcharging customers to fulfill them in a guarantee. It's robbery as a customer will have no other choice. It's absolutely ridiculous that they charge a per bag labor charge to customers. It's extremely unfair. I highly recommend that you avoid The Floor Store due to the experiences above. I'll update again when project ends. read more

So glad to have met Jill! She help us pick the right floor and advised us to wait a few days for the sales event (saved us a ton of money on the large order). She knew everything about wood flooring and was flexible with the samples return day so we can check under day and night lighting. She was also honest about how "0% apr" works - a separate bank provides a loan, and it is 0% IF paid in full by 2 years - any short and a lot of interest tacks on. Thank you Jill! The store has a nice selection at great prices, and displays show large areas. A "sample" is a 2x2ft preassembled board, and you can borrow 4 for 2 days - just need to return them to get deposit back, or ask for extra time. Once purchased, stocks gets shipped to their side warehouse where your contractor picks it up, or they deliver if they are installing. 10 day free return policy, so do your hw and be absolutely sure. Check for any damaged box during shipping, before loading into your car. The loading crew was super careful too. Great store! read more

I do not understand why The Floor Store has such low ratings. I had hired Tony's Flooring to tile my bathroom and they referred me to Rachelle at the floor store for tile and design. Rachelle was amazing, she showed me the different tile sets that contained the pieces I needed and helped me choose one that would work for the new bathroom. I had a hard time finding an accent tile and she pulled a lot of samples that weren't on the floor that went with the tiles I was considering. Rachelle has a great eye for color and design and she was so attentive and patient. At one point I was about to throw my hands up and give up when I could not find an accent tile and she told me I did not have to make a decision right then and there. She let me take home my top two tile combination samples to look at them for a few days. I am so happy Rachelle let me bring them home because the combination I liked in the store ended up being replaced by my second choice once I got home and looked at it in the bathroom. The prices at the floor store are higher than Home Depot and Lowes but you get what you pay for. I remember seeing tiles that looked similar at Home Depot for a fraction of the cost so I called my contractor and asked why. They informed me that the tiles sold at The Floor Store are higher quality than the ones you find at home depot. The Floor Store sells mid-grade to high quality tiles where as the ones at Home Depot are low quality hence the price point. I began reading the reviews of the tiles on the Home Depot website and realized that a lot of complaints were that the tile from different boxes had great color variations that did not match and often times the smaller cut tiles were not true to size because they were sloppily cut from the larger tiles. The tiles I purchased from The Floor Store are all the same shade of color and the smaller tiles look perfectly squared! I just finished my renovation a few days ago and the bathroom looks amazing!!! I feel like I am showering in a hotel or spa shower! Check out my pictures for the finished bathroom and the wonderful tile combination that was provided by Rachelle and The Floor Store. Left a very visible seam that they are unwilling to correct. Telling us that it is common and will self resolve with time. This is definitely not normal as we have had two other carpets that never had this issue. It has been two months and no resolution or offer to correct. We have left four calls to learn how this is to be corrected - to no avail. 8/2/18: the company relaid the floor relocating the join/seam to the entrance to the room. Visible seam still present, though very slightly less. Still not happy with result but likely going to have to settle for this. Rating still below what we expected.
