Half Moon pose needs to be renamed to Half Moon Bay pose because of this studio…read more Enso is wonderful enough to make me want to move to HMB. I have gone running past Enso several times and finally drove 30 minutes this morning to take Amy's Sunday morning class. I expected rustic because of the pictures of the wood stove and eclectic Arts & Crafts style of the exterior but I was completely mistaken. The interior is gallery minimalist with a few pieces of beautiful art and an older grand piano that is covered is smoky mirrored mosaic tiles. I cannot do it justice to desribe the light and energy in the space but will say that in my first ardha chandrasana I looked out the window and saw the ocean, the second ardha chandrasana I looked out the window and people were riding by on horses and the third ardha chandrasana I saw runners and people walking their dogs. Ardha Chandrasana, Half Moon pose is forever Half Moon Bay pose in my body because of this special place. This is worth the drive from Silicon Valley to HMB if you appreciate quality yoga and art.

All of the instructors are super supportive and helpful. Keep in mind that each instructor has his/her own style, so if you are not in love with one....try another. I have learned so much from all of the instructors here. Prices are really reasonable. They have mats and other supplies you can borrow too! People are extremely friendly here and I LOVE that it is next to the ocean and you can hear the waves crashing! If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy your yoga practice, you will not be disappointed by stopping at ENSO!

I had a consultation here three years ago and prepaid $100 for a 1:1 training session. That same…read moreweek, my husband passed away. When I told the trainer, he kindly said to come back when I was ready, and that was the last I heard. No expiration notice, no follow-up, nothing for three years. When I finally felt ready to return, the owner immediately framed my options as either using the 1:1 I'd already paid for, or applying $50, half the value, toward a membership. They never communicated an expiration. Three years passed for a reason I had disclosed. Quietly honoring the full $100 toward whatever I wanted was the obvious move, and it would have cost them almost nothing in goodwill terms. Offering half is a choice, and it tells you what kind of operator you're dealing with. A little grace would have gone a long way. The 1:1 itself was a 40-minute form walkthrough, the kind of light intro most gyms offer free as a complimentary first visit. It was framed as a meaningful training session, but the value was limited and only mildly useful in the context of taking their classes afterward. Honestly, it functions more as a safety net for the gym, making sure you can perform the exercises without injuring yourself in their group sessions. I was also handed an "onboarding" bag with a "golden ticket" promo, three free classes for friends to use, with an approximate value of $100. So the gym is willing to extend roughly that much in free value to strangers I bring through the door, but not willing to extend the same goodwill to the grieving customer standing right in front of them. When the owner checked in afterward and I shared honestly that the session underwhelmed me, she didn't ask questions or try to make it right. She got defensive and offered a refund. For the membership only, not the 1:1. The message I took from that exchange was clear: I wasn't wanted as a customer. Maybe others have had great experiences. Mine was a series of small, ungenerous choices in moments where basic human decency would have cost nothing.

The teachers are excellent, helpful and they make the workouts fun as well as challenging! I felt welcomed and included from the very first class. Everyone is friendly and the "vibe" is fun and supportive. After just a couple of months, I feel like I'm more fit and I'm happy that the workouts are a part of my weekly routine. Also - they use an app that makes it very easy to sign up for the classes I want every week. I'm so glad I started working out at Empowered Fitness!
